Hi, all. Anyone with personal experience with that new "technology" for eliminating mosquitos called a Mosquito Magnet? Seems like a heavy price tag but if it works...
Eagerly awaiting your replies...

Welcome JuJu! :)

A very good friend of ours has one of the Mosquito Magnet machines...or whatever the heck you call them..:), and he says it works great!!!!

He uses it at his cottage which is in northern Ontario, almost in the middle of no where! He says they are able to sit out on their deck at night and not get bitten to death by mosquitoes and blackflies.

He was a little skeptical at first, due to the hefty price tag, but has been very pleased with it.

Kim :)

Kim - thanks so much. it comes with a pretty heft guarantee and our backyard is up against 300 acres of "conservation land" - aka - swamp! - and it's almost unbearable. A screen house is an option, but i'd much rather just enjoy the outdoors!

This is good to know! My sister's patio is not screened in and the mosquitos are already out in full force here. I don't think the citronella candles work very well. We'll have to research this mosquito magnet thingy! :)

JuJuJasmine/TigH,

You can also put up a bat house if you don't have one already. Bats consume a huge amount of mosquitos each night and will stick around if there is plenty of food...which it sounds like you are neighbor to. I've searched for them on Ebay in the Home & Garden section. There are a lot listed and reasonably priced.
