Just popping in to see what's happening today. A bit quieter than yesterday!. Karyn, we're about 40 miles south, and 20 miles west of Mitchell, SD which is right on I-90. We're really in the boonies.

Hey, Jedokids, nice to have you back. And, nice to see someone else is without documents! :D Keep in touch with us as we get closer to actually meeting everyone.

Unlike some others, we are looking forward to Mexacali nite. Don't get much in the way of Mexican food out here surrounded by buffalos.

Thanks for keeping track of things, Cap. With everything going on it would be easy to forget.

Back to the grindstone. See you later!

Isnt' that funny! Here just south of the New Hampshire border, 20 miles north of Boston, all the restaurants are mexican...within a 10 mile radius, we have 2 Chilis, On the Border, Rancho Des Amigos, Margaritas, Shorty's, La Hacienda, and one other in Nashua...Amigas or something like that. It's like the most popular of all cuisines I think, so we're sort of Mexican'ed out!

Speaking of buffalos, I was so upset when On the Border changed management style and got rid of the Buffallo Fajitas! *sigh* Now THAT was good....

Gee, I must be feeling a little better...I have a little bit of an appetite.

I just got off the phone with the Hat Guy. The price he quoted me was for the hats with the text silk screened on and the final price for that with tax is $8.54 a hat. I said they would be embroidered and that is my mistake. To have the hats embroidered would increase the price to $11.88 with tax. I have until Friday to change the order from silk screened to embroidered. I apologize if I have miss led anybody. I can't split the order. If everyone agrees to an upgrade, I'll call it in. If not, we'll go with the silk screen version.

Again, I'm sorry if this upsets anybody and it's my mistake, not the Hat Guy.

Gary,

I think you're going to be stuck making the decision on this one. I'm ok either way - embroidered or silk screened. If you'd let me get my docs then I would have been willing to call it, but I see you told the UPS man to just drive on past again today. He slowed down, but gunned the truck when I got up from my chair.

I guess it's been a slower day. I just got on for the first time and I thought I might have pages of posts to catch up on if today was anything like yesterday!!

Well, my mom was discharged from the hospital yesterday, late afternoon. She's still not 100% :( , but she is much, much better than she was this time last week. We are going to have 'Christmas' at my sister's on New Years Day with my mom since she was in the hospital for it. Mom was upset that she didn't get the kids their gifts on Christmas but I think they will be psyched when they realize they have more coming to them on the 1st! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hats -- Thanks again for doing it Gary and I am fine with whichever you decide. I can mail you the difference if you decide to upgrade to embroidered or if you go with silk-screened, that's fine too.

And for the master list, Dean. The next time you update it, add our names, if you don't mind... kmc33 (Kim), DH (John), and DS (Luke).

Congrats on the docs, Karyn! Dean, I hope yours come soon!

Thanks! :wave2:

Sorry, Kim, I didn't realize I had left off your names. I got it taken care of. Glad to hear that Mom is back on the road to recovery.

Had a drink with my staff after work tonite for New Year's and now I should be able to get back into the posting groove tomorrow. Big day tomorrow - somebody is joining the ranks of us elderly folks :faint: Hmmmm, wonder who - paybacks for getting documents before others are .........

Hey Dean, Thanks! Some how the joints are stiffer and it was harder to get out of bed this morning, now that I'm so old!:teeth: (Maybe it was all that doc dancing last night.)

Say, how does the weather look out that way for driving in the next few days? Randy is threatening to leave today if driving conditions look good enough.

Kim thanks for keeping us updated on your mom. Glad that she's better and sorry that shes not all the way yet. It will be fun for the kids to have a second "Christmas".

Sorry I wasn't in last night, close friends took us into the city for dinner - we had a blast. Its so hard saying goodbye to everybody.

Well, everybody, have a very fun Karyn's Birthday today! And don't party too much in my honor!

Hope you have a great day. I'll put on my weather cap now and let you know that temps are expected in low 40's through weekend then dropping to highs in single digits and lows to -10 on Monday. Chance of light snow in the Black Hills with a big storm expected by Tuesday of next week. I'm ready for a boat drink, in a warmer climate.

Dean, I did notice that it's purty durned cold out your way. Weirdly here we've got an expected high of 42 (38 right now) - feels like spring. So things look pretty clear thru the weekend? Ranj has to be in Seattle for work on Monday.

I 'spect we'll spend the am packing and then make a decision about whether Randy takes off today or tomorrow. I'll be hanging out not too far from the computer all morning.

You know, it doesn't sound good to say that on the day I turned 50 my DH left me and moved to another state!

I can e-mail copies of my super-deluxe vacation checklist to anyone that has Microsoft Excel.

About the hats, I think I'm going to stick with the silkscreen version and the original price. Put the $3-4 extra dollars toward a boat drink (non-alcoholic for the kids) or a DCL Refrigerator Magnet!

Gary please send me that excel file! Kabuli1@aol.com

Dean, I was going to type in the "someday my docs will come" song myself this morning. It would be excruciating to wait that long! At least you have Nikki to keep you company.

The only thing I looked at last night before I put them away was whether we'd been upgraded, cause I didn't want to be this time, since we're in two cabins. I didn't even check to see if the docs were for the correct cruise dates! OH MY! What if they weren't??? Maybe I should go take a closer look!

Well, Cheers! Got to get back to packing!

Happy Birthday Karyn!!

Dean, just spoke to my MIL/TA, and she just booked our airline seats for us - we have a 6:45am flight from BOS to MCO, arriving at 10am, what will we do all day at the AIRPORT? I had hoped to come in later that day, but oh well, a day at the pool I guess, as we're not renting a car for one day!! And we have to check in in Boston 2 hours before, what, FOUR FOURTY FIVE AM??? *sigh*

Our return flight home, and I quote:
--------------------------------
Saturday, Feb 7 Orlando to Boston

US Air Flight #340 Depart Orlando 12:30 pm Arrive Pittsburgh 2:44 pm

Seats 26 E & F 27 E & F

US Air Flight #602 Depart Pittsburgh 4:10 pm Arrive Boston 5:44 pm

Seats 13 A B C D

I spoke directly to airlines for seating. All of these seats are as close to the front as can be obtained while keeping you together. The MCO/PIT does have scattered seats closer to front.

Disney said they were lucky to get return flights and they had no non-stops.

-----------------------------------------

I don't know what she means when she says "Disney said they were lucky to get return flights"...is the 7th a busy travel day? *grin*

So anyhow...now I don't expect the docs to be that far behind!! Whoo hoo!!

Any exciting plans for tonight, anyone? I'm better, but now DS is miserable, and trying desperately to throw up just to settle his tummy...so I'm staying home and we'll watch Nickelodeon all night. DH is working anyhow, so it's yet another Rugrats kind of New Years in our house. ;)

Gary, please send me a copy of your Excel list also. I think you have the email from the hat order.

Karyn, You'll find now that you're over that half century mark, that many of your friends move away - either they are retiring to a warm climate, or just don't want to be around old folks.

It's a beautiful sunny and warm (for Michigan Dec 31) day. I'm tempted to go do something useful, like clean the garage, while I wait for UPS. HOPE HOPE HOPE.

Have a great day all, and drive safely tonight.

OK, guys, I'm venturing into new territory here. I think I added a link to my web site that will let you download the spreadsheet.
Go to this web page:

My Web Site (http://mysite.verizon.net/res0q1zf/id2.html)

Click on the link that says "Vacation Checklist Spreadsheet".

The spread sheet should automatically open if you have Excel on your computer.

If that doesn't work, right click on the link and select "Save target as..." to download the file to your computer.

Have fun with it and if you have any additions/revisions, fell free to share them with me and/or the group!

Happy New Year Everybody!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday. I'd thank you individually, but I'm afraid I can't remember that much anymore, since one of you reminded me that as I get older my memory fails!

Randy leaves today, looks like there's worse roads out there than we were looking at yesterday. I guess I'll be a single lady now for awhile.

We didn't get nearly enough done while he was here - which means it's all on my shoulders now.

There's a beautiful sunrise out there to start the new year. I think my first resolution is to go on a cruise after I finish packing the house! Good idea?

Well, boys and girls how are you going to spend today? Other than dancing, that is.

Karyn,

Your goal is packing and cruise. Mine is unpacking and cruise.

I've still got about 30 boxes of obviously very important "stuff" in my basement from when we moved five years ago. Since I'm now officially retired (Company says it is effective today), I'm going to try to get those boxes unpacked before the cruise. Got to keep those trashcans filled.

Hope eveyone has a great new year.

That's OK, Gary. I went in for awhile this morning too. DW called TA yesterday. They said they expect to receive them in about 2 weeks and then will have them to me within another week. So, I've decided I'm going without documents. Hey, it's just paper anyway, right?

OK, Karyn, if Randy is leaving, you have no excuse for not packing. So, plan on one more showing of LOTR today. Then, nonstop packing starting tomorrow. I'll be helping you in spirit. I'd help for real but I got this bad back, y'know?

We'll probably sit around and watch Disney movies today: Pirates, Bambi, etc. Everyone have a great day!!

Sorry I haven't kept up my share of messages. Very Busy here.

Karyn: You can request a specific rotation. Just call DCL. We always request the LAP rotaion and I have a 7 year old. It wouldn't be the one they naturally give us. Historically, they have honored the request. It is no guarantee but there is a good chance you will get it.

Kim: Character breakfast has always been in Parrot's Cay. So it is the one of the mornings that you are scheduled for dinner in Parrot's Cay.

As far as Mexicali night is concerned, I agree that that would be a great night for Palos. What a good idea! I have not been that happy with their menu that evening and Palos would be a great option.

Thanks, Annie, and welcome back! We missed you.

When I talked to my Randy last night he had stopped for the night in Gilette (sp) Wyoming. I guess that was pretty good for the first day. So far the only bad roads he had run into were in southern MN w/ icy rain. I think from here on out it won't be as easy.

We have an anticipated high of 52 today! That is so weird for January in this area. In fact theres a dense fog out right now. and it's 40 at 4:30 am.

My to-do list for today is huge! The appraisers are coming and I have to clean up much of my packing mess this morning. Have to refinish the top of the DR table to get it ready to sell. Sort and pack in the basement and get some serious work done on my lecture on Inter-testamental Judaism for my class on Sunday. ARGH! No wonder I couldn't sleep.

I'll check in as the day goes by. RIght now I'm waiting for my coffee to finish brewing, I so need the caffeine!

It's snowing. See, what Mother Nature apparently doesn't understand is that we want snow BEFORE Xmas, and FOR Xmas, but after that she needs to take it away so we can get to Florida unhindered.

*sigh*

No word from Disney to my TA/MIL yet re: our Palo ressies...she's going to try to find out the status of our docs and such.

I can't believe I still have 2 more days off...not that this was much of a "vacation" what with the flu and the kids coming down with it now, but...

Hey, anyone ever take a taxi from MCO to, say DTD? We arrive in Orlando on Friday at 10am! I'd love to get to Downtown Disney just to walk around, but I don't want to rent a car or anything just for a few hours!!

Scott5150
01-02-2004, 01:07 PM
I think that a taxi would be VERY expensive. No one uses taxis to and from the airport. If it is only one person, you probably would get the best deal from Mears. It it is multiple people, a car service.

Any way you look at it, you are probably starting looking at a good chunck of change for that little excursion.

I just filled out my docs today! Getting excited and all. I am out of town for 2 of the next 4 weeks, so I gotta do everything WELL in advance.

I am in Germany for a week right before our cruise. I literally will be in an airplane (3 legs) for 14 hours on Jan 29, and then we fly to Florida on Jan 30. I have about 17 hours at home between trips. Just enought time to do a few loads of laundry and begin to recover from Jet Lag!

Ooof! 14 hours on a plane, only to get back on one less than a day later? You are a brave man! My daughter is going to New Zealand/Australia in July, and that's a LONG trip - Boston to LA, to Aukland NZ - I don't think that's set in quite yet. *grin*

Yeah, thinking about it, it's probably best to avoid the whole Downtown Disney thing...and use that $$ on the cruise instead...but there are these Mickey wine glasses you can ONLY get at the World of Disney and I'd love to pick some up, people always comment on them at my house and it's fun to have some as gifts.

Ah well. We can shop around the airport! I wonder if there's a place to buy flip-flops...cause there are arent' here in the Northeast in winter! I have found some online, but... *shrug*

When you mail postcards, you need the postage of the country from which you are mailing them. At Castaway Cay, there is a small post office that sells stamps. I don't think the mail goes out four times / day, however.

Hi everyone - wow, the way we're going, we'll hit the 1000 mark in no time...
Shingle, did you already pay for the illuminations cruise or do you pay when we get there? I could send you some $$ if you've already paid... We're looking forward to it - it's not something we've ever looked into before and it looks great!!
I guess the gloating about the unseasonably warm weather in our neck of the woods has backfired. It is soooo cold today! I can't believe it. It's -34 C. I was hoping to coast through a warm January to take us to Cruise Day.
Dean, we just received the magnets. Thanks so much, they are very cool!!!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it...FIND FLIP FLOPS IN NEW ENGLAND IN JANUARY BECAUSE OUR SILKY TERRIER ATE ALL THE ONES FROM THIS SUMMER... *sigh*

Well, I hit Old Navy, and I found some for me, for like 3 dollars! And some for DS, with a graphic of sharks on it, and some for DD, with slight heels, and fabric between the toes instead of the plastic, cause she's ... picky. *grin*

Whoo hoo! It's snowing and I am trying on flip flops!

Gotta order DH's online tho...

The4ofUs,

I understand the feeling. Had to go to six stores on Hilton Head last October because I forgot to pack my swim suit. Everyone except the last said they were "out of season". Of course, with Xmas over, I would think the stores would now have the summer items out, or perhaps they have moved on to Halloween already. Eventually they'll be a full year ahead and back in sync.

So what will your dog select for his next course? Keep the documents away from him.

Ooh la la Dean! Them shoes is trez chick! I want a pair just like them. I think we will be able to figure out who you are.

For those of you tracking my Randy's progress across the country, he gutted out 750 miles of horrible snow and ice conditions to get to Coeur d'Alene, ID yesterday. I've seldom heard him sound so tired and miserable. Looks like there are some pretty wretched roads coming up in the next 80 miles or so but after that it clears up. Snow in the Cascades of course! Anyway he's about 350 miles from "home".

Winter storm advisory today. Can you beleive that it go up to 60 here yesterday? Why didn't I have my moving sale then???

Buddy is not picky in terms of shoes, so far we've lost MANY flip flops, 2 pairs of dressy sandals, penny loafers, sneakers, and even my "duck boots" aren't safe from this little guy!! I'm sure that those lime green sneakers would be very light and airy, sorta like a sorbet for darling buddy...

Just got off the phone w/MIL/TA, who said that she still has yet to get the Palo ressies form, so she called Disney and informed them that she has some horrible clients (us) who keep bugging her about the ressies! They told her she SHOULD have the form already, but took the ressie over the phone, and emailed the Dining Room manager directly with it - so we're a'goin' to Palos on Weds the 4th of Feb at 7pm.

Yay!

Now all I really need is to make ressies in the spa for the couples massage *waggles eyebrows naughty like* And if we want the brunch, I guess....although I should be able to make that early too, huh! Hmm...

Hi Dean, Randy made it all the way there - the road conditions were the worst he'd ever driven in. Ask Mark, but all the snow and ice are very unusual in western WA. He's exhausted and doesn't want to do it again soon, tho someone has to drive my car out there!

I love your lime green shoes - of course they have to be included.

NO the packing isn't done and the lesson isn't finished and I'm feeling kinda down and alone. Not sure I like being single. Just a dusting of snow so far. Won't be enough to get out of teaching tomorrow. I just found the book I needed - so that's a good thing.

Karyn,

You asked what everybody's been doing. I've printed out the excursion info for all four ports, so my wife and our friends can plan what we all want to do.

I also cleared a major item on my December checklist, although a bit late. Finally cleaned out the other half of the garage so I could get my car inside. Judi's has had first priority, but the weather forecast of Snow pushed me over the threshold. It was hard moving the lawn tractor with a flat tire, but now both cars are successfully in the warm garage. However, as of 4:00 AM when I let the dogs out, there is NO snow.

I also just found the picture I want to use on my retirement party thank you notes. They are a bit delinquent, and that's my Sunday afternoon project.

Hope your Sunday lesson goes well. Glad Randy made it ok. You could tell him you'll just wait for Spring to drive your car out.

That's terrible about the fire. Karyn's right, we will be fine (although a little disappointed) but I feel bad for the people affected by it. That's a shame.

I see we only have about 150 to reach the 1000 mark.

It's a rainy day in Pittsburgh. We have been doing some chores around the house and brought in the outside Christmas decorations while the weather was still mild (high of only 15 degrees on Wed and overnight lows around 0). I am fighting a cold that started on Friday. Hopefully I am getting it out of the way now instead of at cruise time. I just learned of Zicam not long ago and I think it really does work to lessen the symptoms. I am going to buy more for the trip -- just in case!

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. It's back to the rountine for us tomorrow. Although getting back into the swing of things seems easier with the cruise coming up in less than 4 weeks!!

It's raining/icing here right now just north of Boston - the kids are actually hoping for a snow (ice) day tomorrow - now hold on a ding dang minute, they've been off for two weeks already!

Then again, I am sure loving this whole wake up at 8:30am thing I've been having - tomorrow it's back to 5:30am *sigh*

Gary,

I think the hardest thing related to a replacement hat source will be to find someone who will have / do lime green. You may have to compromise there.

Can we get hats with ear muffs? It's snowing merrily here. While the ship looked a little gray today on the Key West web cam, it looked much warmer than it was in Michigan. Less than four weeks to go now!

Tomorrow is my first "real" day of retirement, when my team will be driving snowy roads and enduring the salty parking lots to get to work, while I will be "sleeping in". I told them I don't take any phone calls before 9:00 AM.

Hope everyone else has a great day tomorrow, with back to school, etc. Be careful if you have snowy roads.

Typing I can appear to be chipper even if I am not!!! I am with Monique... it's tough getting up at 5:15 this morning after sleeping until 8:30 am for the past week or so. The cold I am fighting didn't help either.

The bright side of this morning is that all the rain we have had over the weekend would have been about 12-20 inches of snow if it had been colder. The bad news is that it is turning colder today. Hopefully we are all rained out!

Anyway, I hope your week is getting off to a good start!

So DH just informed me that he spoke to his mom, and she found out after talking to DCL today that the docs are being put together today, and UPS'ed to us tonight or tomorrow morning, so Dean, they are on the way!

And get this! They booked us for EVERYTHING!! We now have the following:

Dinner @ Palos Weds the 4th at 7pm
Champagne Brunch Monday the 2nd at 10am (which the Disney lady said are pretty full up already, apparently the Romance Package is VERY popular!)
An hour and a half spa treatment Monday the 2nd at 4:45pm.

The DCL lady also told my MIL to tell us to "get the kids out of the room Weds night", because that evening after Palos is our "romantic turndown"...and it's supposedly "VERY ROMANTIC"...so we just informed the kids that Monday they'll be alone alot, and Weds they are to be out of the cabin that night! *grin*

So apparently they are now taking all these ressies prior to boarding as a courtesy to those that buy the packages!

CONGRATULATIONS!! And, welcome to our group. I tried to invite you over from the cruise critic boards and got severely reprimanded. There is a lot more activity here and I think you'll like the group. We've got a list of about 104 DIS'ers and family so far. Look forward to meeting you - I'll be the loud one in the group.

You know guys, while I may be trying to dance - but there's no floor space, it is so scary how much packing I have left to do and I ain't talking cruise packing!

I checked in a couple times yesterday but I was running around all day doing stuff. Am I crazy or what? I'm attempting to have a moving sale on Saturday. Come on by, I've got lots of junk to move!

It's looking better for us to get the house we want in Puyallup - tho nothing is fer sher. It's been hard not knowing where I'm going when I get there.

DS#1 is driving across to Ithaca NY from here today to get the rest of his stuff and move with us. Gary, can you pm me your phone # for emergency back up. They wanted me to go with them but.......

It's hard to even think about cruising, but I tell ya, there is no one who needs it more than I do!

Happy 25 days y'all have fun dancing!

The ONLY thing my "inside track" TA couldn't tell me is if we got any sort of upgrade or not! An upgrade from a 6 to a 4, that's SO not fair! *wink* Congrats on that, and to anyone else who got visited by the Upgrade Fairy. Then again, I'm happy with my 9, and if we don't get upgraded I'll still feel like a princess in that stateroom, so I'll stop whining now...

I still can't believe I don't have to DO anything when I get to the ship, I was getting all prepared to send DH to the spa while I did Palo, or vice versa, now all we have to do is get on the ship and check the kiddos into the clubs!!

The temps here in the Northeast are dropping quick - I think by the end of the week we have lows near 1 deg F - just like our friends up in Canada, right?

Dean,

I'm here. I was kind of hiding yesterday after some unnamed person mentioned 45 degrees below. I don't worry about equipment starting at that temperature, I worry about ME starting.

I guess the UPS guy with my docs is also hiding, as I checked front and back doors, and NO docs yet. Guess that Disney Credit Card will have to go in the e-tickets kiosk slot for us.

Karyn, is your son at Cornell? Can't think of any other reasons to go to Ithaca. My sister works there. Don't pack your camera. You can always take pictures of the leftovers Saturday and sell them on eBay. People will buy anything there.

We leave for Florida in 17 days, but found yesterday we have a potential problem. Our house / dog sitter fell down the stairs on the last night of her recent cruise, hurt her ankle, and has been in the hospital with a severe infection from the wound. She says she should be ok by the time we leave, but we are worried.

Hope all is well for the 25 day shuffle. How does that song go - Shuffle Off to Orlando ....?

As I mentioned way back in a previous post, I developed and run TWO Discussion Boards, and am a staff member at another, as well as this one...and that's just STUPID. Communities that do not have crossover between one another DIE quickly, and communities (even virtual ones such as these boards!) that are run as if they are the ONLY such boards gain a reputation as unfriendly places that people eventually badmouth and stop going to! I've been to that board quite a few times trying to get the feel of the cruise, but I won't sign up there, it just doens't have that "home" feel like this place does, and now I understand why. They should figure out that if YOU get tight with others from their board, not only will those people follow you here, but people here could follow you THERE - the internet is about opening boundaries, not shutting doors.

*rolls eyes*

*steps off soap box*

Hmm. Apparently I need a cup of tea.

Cap, my DS and his DF graduated from Cornell in August. For some unknown reason they decided to hang out there for awhile before looking for "real" jobs. So they are packing it in and moving w/ us to WA. So you sister is there? Well, My BIL lives in Canton, MI - so how's that for coincidence? I don't know what I'd do w/o a pet sitter, You can't take parrots to a kennel in a worst case scenario. Hey, howz retirement?

It was -7 when I got up this morning! Hard to believe that last Friday it was 60!

Those of you without docs must be crazed about now! I just don't understand this at all. I know that they wait to ticket with the airlines - but this seems like cruel and unusual punishment! DCL is making more $$ off those of you who booked air thru them, but you get treated more poorly than the rest of us. Really, I'm so sorry!

Dean, do you know where you're staying the night before? Do you have DCL transfers or are you getting a limo or something? Anybody want to share a Limo w/ the three of us?

You know, if we work really hard at this we could get to 900 today! We're 15 away! I can't think of a better day to talk cruisin than one that's sub-zero for most of us! Check in everybody - as they say in Chicago - post early and often . . . or was that vote?

Whew, thanks The4OfUs, you said just about how I felt at the time. I was still going back to their area to learn and just figured other first timers might like to know about this place. Don't go there nearly as often anymore.

Re: precruise night, we booked THAT through DCL as well, and we're at the Hyatt, and will use the DCL transfer from there...I'm even excited about that! The pool at the Hyatt looks SO nice after a Boston winter. Oh! Talked to my MIL - and apparently the prebooking of the spa was a "special courtesy" and NOT usually done with this romance package...I don't know why we lucked out like that, but I'm psyched!

Re: the reprimand at the discussion board - I'm weird about things like that. The internet is supposed to help make the world SMALLER, not "more exclusive", and as someone in the business, believe me when I say they're complaining about possibly losing 30 cents a view for those banner ads...for THAT they told off a member of the community they are trying to build, and alienated him? Stupid. Communities should be warm, welcoming, happy places that enhance your life, not make you feel bad for trying to share! Honestly, you hear about all the bad in the news, but think about this - OUR children will grow up with this, will MEET people before actually meeting them - reducing the "first visual impressions" that can put up walls. Online it does not matter if I am old or young, black/white/purple/polkadotted, blonde, bald, thin, fat, handicapped, it does not matter - because you get to know ME before you "know" me. I have a hope that our children will grow up with less prejudices and a better sense of acceptance of people for the sheer fact that they are PEOPLE, instead of "super model" or "hunk" or "dork" or whatever label people put on others based on appearances. I work for a company that caters to the over 55 crowd, and I run the discussion board there - there are 75+ yr olds who are the most energetic, amazing people I've ever "met" in my life, and I treasure knowing them even if it's only virtually. My other board is based on video games, so it's lots of younger people - at 36 (oh GOD, almost 37) I'm one of 5 members that are over 25...and yet these teenagers/young adults are inspiring, AND inspired by me, and that adds to my life. And now I get to go on vacation with a group of people that I have never met but already consider friends, and my daughter has already met two of her cruise mates...come ON, how cool is that, to be surrounded by strangers that I already care about??

...

Yes, I'm weird, and at times i never shut up - don't get me started after a few drinks...you have been warned! *grin*

Re: the discussion board reprimand. I was one of the other posters who had posts deleted!! I was really surprised. On this DISBoard when someone asks about other cruise lines they are often referred to the C.C. board since there are very active groups on the other lines. And the Disney board there is kind of slow. So to say to them, hey join our thread of everyone going on Jan. 31... well I was annoyed too. I didn't even know my post was deleted until Dean wrote here that he was reprimanded. Then I went to that thread and sure enough, my post was no where to be found. Anyway... Monique - I forgot about Dean's post mentioning me!! That is too funny. When I saw that the first time -- I realized my post was prior to his and that it was gone!

I know that Gary mentioned organizing a Trolley tour in Key West. I thought it would be fun for my DS and my sister's family (her kid's are 5 and 2). I guess I thought it was about an hour, then I saw 90 minutes. I even saw one post where they said there's lasted 2 hours. That's when I started to wonder if DS would have trouble making it the whole time. He is a very active child. We might have to play it by ear and decide when we get off the ship. If we don't go on the trolley, I think we might just walk around and maybe stop in the aquarium.

The aquarium! I forgot about that! Kelsey and Tyler will LOVE that...I see it's not expensive either, the website says $9 for adults, ($8.10 if I buy it online now) and 4.50 for kids, and GUESS WHAT! They consider my kids KIDS!! Whoo hoo!

That's one of the hard parts about having these tall kids of mine...at parks where price is by height, they've been adults for a while now, and now that DS will be 10 and DD is 11 1/2 (going on 18), we're at the end of our "cheap" phase... *sigh*

I'm hanging near the computer between packing boxes to see if my #1 DS ends up at Gary's or guts it out all the way to Ithaca. If they end up there, Gary, I think they'll need a boat drink, too. No worries, they are BOTH over 21!

Team,

I think we set our sights too low. We'll be at 900 today, and should easily surpass 1000. Heck, if all of us just announce that we got docs, that will drive up the count.

Are there any card players in the group? Can we play cards on deck and not get them blown away? Might be fun for a non-port day.

Do you think they'll have the rest of the 2005 schedule announced by Feb 6? I'd surely like to book a 2005 cruise, if they have the schedules out. Best of all possible worlds would be a repositioning cruise through the canal.

Hi! Howz everybody today? We're a balmy 4 degrees here and I'm not venturing out to "see" how cold it really feels - tried that yesterday.

Gary, #1 DS and his DF made it safely to Ithaca yesterday by taking the southerly route, had some traffic problems but no weather. They're headed back here tomorrow - so keep me posted on what that's looking like. Sorry about the party - I'd have come, but you never answered me about the little umbrellas for the drinks.

Jill just left for school - 8 more days including today. THEN I can tell her about her cruise. I need to order something for her from Perfect Gift. Shirley was very helpful at connecting me to another co. in Orlando last year when I wanted to surprise Radny on his 50th bday.

I'm spending the day in the basement again getting things ready for my moving sale. It's cold down there.

We've dealt with the Perfect Gift. Shirley and her people are wonderful!!! They will even customize baskets for you! I HIGHLY recommend them!

It's snowing like crazy here. Cut it out LES, enough is enough!! All the schools are closed and it took me twice as long to get to work today. It's 15 F here on the North Coast.

Karyn, road conditions here are worse then they were yesterday. It's supposed to snow all day. I'll keep you posted but I think they might want to go back the way they came.

Kim, I know what you mean about the Golden Mickeys. I don't want to miss it, either, and I'm still not sure when it is.

*decides to not feel bad any longer for her new Canadian friends, because THEY have a hot tub and WE don't*

*sob*

;)

We had a new deck built recently - all mahogany, gorgeous, with a little "jut" off to the side, which the contractors strengthened to hold a hot tub.

Then the money we were GOING to use for the hot tub went to a system to remove Radon gas from our water supply (living in the Northeast, Radon is a HUGE problem). Ah well, $5000 to ensure we're not breathing in radioactive gas with every shower...works for me I guess...

*sigh*

I want a hot tub!

Party at Randy & Ann's house tonight instead! Bring the suits, Gary you can bring the leftovers from last night, k?

But we have to watch out in the hot tub...if they get dunked, they fall apart...so no splashing, anyone!

Just heard from my MIL/TA...I had asked her about upgrades, and for the heck of it she called Disney, and found this out:

"I checked with Disney last night._ You are not scheduled at this time for an upgrade._ They upgrade in order of reservation date.

They did advise, as I had also, that when you check in to the cruise, you inquire as to whether you can be upgraded._ They will often do last minutes upgrades._ If they do offer one-be sure to find out WHERE the cabin is to be sure you want it. Also, be sure it is a free upgrade._ They might ask you to pay which is probably not worth it. _We actually turned down an upgrade because we had a mid-deck cabin and they wanted to give us one in the bow._ Also, another line once wanted us to PAY full fare for an upgrade._ Definitely not a good deal.

You could also ask to be notified if a better cabin and upgrade became available._ There is sometimes a shuffling around of cabins as people check in._ So if you are one of the first to check in, 2 things could happen._ 1._ You get first crack at last minute upgrade._ 2._ You have checked in BEFORE the shuffling, and hence, possible upgrades.

Isn't travel fun?"

So if they upgrade in order of reservation date, it's a "first come first serve" type of thing...so those of you who got upgraded, did you book a while back? Just curious. We booked mid December, so I guess we dont' have a right to whine at all... ;)

See the things you learn with MIL as a TA? *grin*

Speaking of beer...not a huge choice on board, huh. I'm going to have to pack some of the "good stuff"...and we'll have to consider if that beer package/mug thingie is worth it...we've already decided that for us the wine one isn't, and the kids will have to live with soda only at meals...but the beer one...MAAAAYbe.....then again I can't see myself carrying the mug around with me!

Here's a link to what kinds are on board...
Beer brands onboard (http://www.dcltribute.com/faq/beerbrands.htm)

Looks like Bud, Miller Lite and Heineken on draught... not my favorites, so I don't know that I will do the beer package. I would probably not have my mug with me when I wanted to get one anyway. For me, I wouldn't save money with the beer package... just drink more beer :p -- maybe that's not such a bad thing. It looks like you get your 22 oz. mug filled for the same price as you pay for a pint draught.

The good news is, I also love Konk Koolers!!! I might have a new drink for the week although they are a little sweet to drink too many.

Ooh! Sleemans! *grin*

Boy, I love draught beer, but none of those appeals to me...my mom is Dutch, and we have family over alot with the REAL Heinekin, so this stuff here in the USA doens't really appeal to me (in Holland it's a lager, whereas here it's a pilsner...or vice versa...I can never remember!). Looking at the list, there aren't really any I really LIKE...I'll probably be drinking lots o'Bass Ale with some Corona thrown in from time to time. I'm really surprised that they have such a limited selection, and it's all "the same", you know? Microbrews are so popular nowadays up here in the Northeast, you'd think they'd at least have a few different things on there. Ah well. Those mixed drinks are looking better all the time! *grin*

I have to say I was impressed they have my favorite white wine on the list- Caymus Conundrum - not found in most places. Believe me when I say that wine is so buttery and smooth, and I'm a complete red wine drinker. We'll be having a bottle or two of that one, I'm sure!

Randy, I got to be quite the queen o'non-alcoholic beers while pregnant...and to this day we always have some in the fridge. I do not do soda so when I want a carbonated drink but don't want to get sleepy, I have what we call "N A's" - that's MY soda!

Hi everybody!!!!

Well, I just finished my homework for yesterday! I finished sorting the stuff in 20 boxes in the basement - all the stuff is either packed or in the sale or thrown away!!! now for the 10 boxes in my living room! It's time for a break! Then I'm going to empty/sort pack Randy's bedside table (insert scary music here)!

The party tonight sounds perfect. We're up to 12 degrees now. How 'bout NO bathing suits! (Karyn, you baaad girl!) Umbrellas or splashing ....... hmmmm hard choice.

Randy was not so pretty happy w/ the beer choices last year. I doubt that I'll make the effort to take good beer along, tho. I do bring my own wine. It's traditional, every cruise we go on I bring a bottle of some expensive icewine and we drink it on the deck one evening watching the sunset.

We booked in June, I think - no upgrade, but we have two cabins that have linked ressies, so I didn't really want to be - tho if they moved us to connecting verandah cabins - that would be cool. As it is one of the cabins we have is one of those cat.6 cabins that was redesignated as a cat 7 because of the obstructed view. I'm really interested in experincing that!

Well, since I started this, I've had three phone calls!

I need to get on w/ today's work! See you all tonight at Randy and Annie's!

Oh YUM! Icewine is AMAZING!! That reminds me to pack some of the Camus we've been saving - DH would get a bottle for Xmas every year from his last restaurant, and because it's like $100 a bottle, we have never had any...that sounds like the perfect idea, can we just take a bottle of wine on the deck like that? Why do I have it in my head that it's like clubs, where you can't leave with a drink?

Nikki, we'll share ours if you share yours! I think we drank ours on our verandah last time. Oh, we're bringing Inniskillen! You can ask for a corkscrew from Room Service.

Randy survived on MGD on our last Disney cruise. Oh, and I like the Caymus Conundrum wine as well! I don't think we'll do the wine package this time, to - that turned out to be pretty expensive and we ended up being a little too tipsy at dinner every evening. Unless, Dean, you want to go halves on the premium wine package?????

Wow! We haven't had Inniskillen since our...umm, 9th anniversary, I think! Sounds good to me, there's nothing like sharing a good glass of wine in a beautiful setting!

The wine package DOES seem expensive for what they offer, I had read that there are other choices you can "buy up", for extra $$...but like I told DH the other day, I don't know that I'll necessarily want wine with dinner every single night, so let's wing it! And not all good wine has to be that expensive - right now one of my favorites is Yellow Tail Shiraz, and that goes for like $9 a bottle at the grocery stores in NH - although I was at a restaurant recently where they sold it for $25/bottle...ah, markup...

OK, back to work, I'm far too into these boards today...

All kinds of wines, Dean? I have an issue with Cabernet, it is a guaranteed migraine when I have one...but I can do other reds, like Merlot, Shiraz, Zinfandel...that's another reason why the $100 Camus bottles are still unopened! The thing is, the last time I tried, magic, no headache...so I'll do a test run BEFORE the cruise, because I dont' want to chance a migraine on board!

French wines are more likely than California or other places to cause headaches, more tanins and things like sediment, etc...and then there's white wines, or the ice wine like Karyn mentioned, which are so sweet and concentrated (they literally freeze the grapes to get this)

Speaking of this, are there wine tastings on board, I think I read about them???? And I SO want to take a tour of the galley with DH, I think he'd get a kick out of it!

The4ofUs,

When Judi and I had the couples massage last year at Castaway Cay, we were both in the same small beach house. There were two massage tables, about five feet apart, and two massuses (sp?), one for Judi and one for me. It was all very up and up. I was nervous, but found it acceptable. Judi loved it, but she would go for a massage every week if we could afford it.

Tell your husband to relax. He can even keep his swimsuit on.

That's what I was hoping for. I've had one professional massage at a casino in Connecticut, and I LOVED it, once I got over the weirdness of being naked and having another person rub me *rolls eyes* - I think being in the same room will let us joke around a bit and help him relax. I'm not even sure what he's uptight about, all he admitted was that he was a little unsure of it...but he's looking forward to trying it!

Nikki, if you find out anything about a Galley Tour, please let me know. My wife, Judi, would love to see that and I would be interested, since a long long time ago I was worked in the hospitality business.

I want to go on a bridge tour. I understand that they have started doing those again on port days. Don't know if the Orange Alert has cut it off again.

Randy, when we're on the cruise, you could help me if you casually work into a conversation with Judi how great it is to keep the hot tub running in the Winter. She's convinced that the cost of operation in the Winter is way too expensive, so we drain ours after Thanksgiving and don't start it up until April.

UPS has gone by four times today, but no docs. :(

I thought I remembered it being the 2nd sea day, so I went to the castawayclub website and checked the navigator for Thursday at sea - and it says there that at 11am they start giving out tickets for the Galley tour, which is at 2:45pm that day.

Meet you there?

There used to be a WONDERFUL show on the Food Network called "Into the Fire", where they showed what it was REALLY like to be in the kitchen in places like giant casinos in Las Vegas, or exclusive restaurants - none of this silly staged stuff you see on network tv. I think a tour of the galley will be much like that, although at 2:45 it shouldn't be too crazy. DH said he will walk through and giggle under his breath that he isn't the one in the kitchen for once!

hey cap,, no problem with working in the hot tub conversation. Hot tubs are so energy effecient these days it costs minimal and they are meant ot be filled and used year round especially in the winter it is better for the hot tub to be full of water and operating so that things don't seize up or get corrosion and water is cheap. how is that for starters? Hi all,
I have had a bum computer since Christmas and have missed everything, so I have a couple of questions...
What's all this about a Palo ressie request form? Don't we have to wait till we get on board anymore??? With 8 of us in our party this time it might get dicey if we have to wait till the end. As cast members we have to wait till all other times have been taken, but at least the food will still be the best on board!
My other question is: Who has all signed up for the Capt. Marvin's half day tour? I'm calling everyone to see if they want to go tonight. My dfil says he has no interest in feeding rays... too bad, more for me!
Now for the good news:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: Disney finally opened up our cruise for cast members to book, and we got all our rooms booked. We don't get the usual docs though, we just get some boring papers faxed to us that we have to fill out and bring on sailing day. We will have no idea what our rooms will be until then, and will get the best that's left. Here's hoping nobody booked the WED suite... Already checked, it's gone:crazy: oh well, I'll be happy if we just get a verandah! I guess that's the price you pay to get a great rate... as long as I get on board, I'll be happy!

Don't forget that there is that drink machine on deck 9 by the pool with milk, great lemonade and coffee 24/7. That should help those of you with kids who want soft drinks available. I think kids get some in their clubs too, but I'm not sure since I've never cruised with any kids under 18. Last cruise 'October' was the first time I saw lemonade there, but it's the good stuff 'minute maid frozen style' and my dh ended up drinking it constantly:yo-yo: can you say 'eyeballs floating'?

Oooh ooh! I know the answer to this one! *grin*

That was me, and that was due to the fact that DH bought me the "Romantic Escape at Sea" package, part of which allows us to prebook our Palo ressies as if we were in concierge level. They were SUPPOSED to fax a form to my travel agent 45 days prior to sailing, and they didn't...so in return for my TA having to call several times, etc, they apparently allowed us to book both Palo dinner and brunch (and tea, but we are not interested in that), AND the spa treatment that comes with the package, so we're good to go on all our ressies for the trip.

It was 8 degrees F this morning, so no more talk about warm Orlando! *pout*

Wha? Party? Cannonball? Dean mooning the group? It's all coming back to me now. I think I need a Bloody Mary! "My head feels like a football, I think I'm gonna die! Tell me, me oh me oh my, WASN'T THAT A PARTY!!!"

It's 20 degrees F here on the north coast. At least LES has left for a while. He'll be back, though.

The snowblower started and I have a clean driveway and sidewalk now.

HADD!!! :wave2:

Must have been quite a party. Randy's not up yet, and it's well past 5:00 AM.

It's a little warmer here today - up to 14 F, with 1 - 3" of snow forecast.

I got my snowblower started last weekend. I'm glad I had the electric starter, because it sure wouldn't have started on one pull of the cord. Guess I'll have to double underline the April "summerize snowblower to do item this year.

We're off to breakfast out - not as nice as Palo's brunch, but the waffles (round, no ears) are great and I don't have to cook the bacon.

Hope you all have great days. Go easy on the asprin, you late night party-goers.

Just reading a thread on the main cruise board where someone doesn't want to dress up for formal night, and there are people there saying "well gee, that's ok, it's YOUR vacation, do what you want, blah blah blah"...on one hand I can totally see where they're coming from, but on the other, it does affect the general atmosphere when people deliberately ignore, or even worse, mock the "recommendations" (as noted by one of the posters there, whose tablemates showed up in shorts on formal night).

Anyhow, I'm taking the "to each his own" approach, but we are dressing up on formal and semi-formal nights, as well as Palo, and I can't wait!

I had already asked about the guys - DH is going with his suit for both formal and semi-formal nights, and he looks great in them...but what about you women? How fancy do you get? I have 2 best friends who have some amazing closets and I'm going to raid them...but I wanted to get an idea of what you see on board before I do! Full out ball gown type things, xmas party "nice" type things, bridesmaid dresses type things? I have plenty for semiformal night, but I want formal night to be all fancy and magical...

(yes I'm a dork)

Nikki, I like to dress up, but I have no idea of what fits me this year! :teeth: AND buying new is out of the question! Randy will wear a suit the three nights, I'll probably wear a long black dress w/ a sparkley jacket for formal and a dressy dress for Palo and Semi Formal night and Jill will wear fancy dresses left over from prom/homecoming etc. Sounds like I should try on some clothes today! I guess I don't buy the "it's your vacation" arguement. If I were on vacation in most of the big cities in the world I'd dress up for dinner at a nice place. My level of dressing up wouldn't measure up to what many people wear - but I try my best. However, my vacation is not ruined by what others wear. Dean, that doesn't mean you should show up to formal night in your speedo! I might have to ask for different tablemates!

Cap, must be nice the retirement thing! Oh I forgot to tell you earlier, I love playing cards! What are we going to play?

What to do today? Pack, or pack? Any Advice?

Sounds like what I was planning to try to find, Karyn - tell me why guys can get away with wearing the same suit every night when I have to find a few dresses to get by in! *grin* Actually, I wouldn't want to wear the same thing, so I'll stop complaining now.

I went back to the thread in question about not dressing up, and got a tad annoyed when I read one person's attitude that basically said that people who feel they have to dress up on formal night are either those that don't get out much or who put on airs while on board. Couldn't keep my mouth shut on that one, I mean come ON...I could easily turn that one around (but I didn't) to say that those that DONT dress up as requested are rednecks and uncouth...but why paint people with such a broad brush!

I can't believe you guys are packing already! I probably won't do that until the weekend before we go - or do you mean pack the house up?

Wow, think I'm out-classed here. Had laid out the speedos to dry so they'd be ready for formal night. I'm way out here in the wilderness, and we "red-neckers" just like being comfortable. http://e4u.deltait.com.au/dressed/bek216.gif But, if I have to, I'll dust off the jacket and dig out a Disney tie hoping not to drop food on it so I can use it again next voyage. http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/happy/028.gif

my head feels like a football, maybe I should have wore my "Touque"on my head instead of my speedo. oh well did we have fun or what? for folks that are talking about semi and formal nights come on even Mickey and Minnie dress formal. You can see what annie and i and DD are wearing at the bottom of each post. They have tuxedos on sale at International chain right now for $99.00 canadian about 75.00 american, i'm thinking about it. if folks want to enjoy there vacation "their way" I think that is what the hot dog and hamburger stands are for. I like shorts and tees' and sandals as much as the next person but out of respect to other diners, myself and my table mates, I like to appear half decent. I definately would not think of wearing my speedo to the dinner table. H.A.D.D. EVERYBODY aRRRGGGHHHH eH pirate:  Randy

I'm totally with you, Nikki. There's a restaurant in Buffalo that we went to for special ocassions BECAUSE they had a dress code and people dressed up to go to dinner. Unfortunately, they had to lower their standards to stay in business. We still go there but it's not the same. Formal nights are a tradition on cruise ships, one that seems to be fading away, sad to say.

I think the deal on the Magic is the family thing and dressing up the kids AND adults, which I'm sure can be a hassle.

I'm sure you'll look fine, Dean!:smooth:

Hope I didn't offend anyone who perhaps doesn't like to dress up...that other woman really just pushed my buttons so I'm avoiding that thread now. Justify it all you like, it doesn't make it right to deliberately ignore the request of the dining room - are there different levels of formal? Sure! But to come straight out and say that anyone who wants to dress up either doesn't get out much or is "putting on airs"...please! Yes, it's your vacation, but it's mine too, and if someone came to my table on formal night in shorts, ridiculing those that dressed up, I'd probably lose it then and there, for destroying what could be a special atmosphere.

I bet you don't see this on ships like the Queen Mary 2, where dining rooms are seperated out by accomodation level, huh! *grin*

We're such a classy group here, I can't wait to see us all spiffed up!!

I saw that thread about dressing up too! Now I have to go back to it to check out Nikki's post!! The one I thought was annoying was the person that suggested that if you feel uncomfortable dressed up with others around you NOT dressed up, then maybe you should eat somewhere else! Isn't that backwards?! I thought that's why there are casual options available at Topsider's, Pluto's etc so that people that don't want to dress up have an alternative!

Anyway, I haven't decided for sure what I am wearing... I still have to try on some things too. But, I may wear a plain black velvet dress for the formal night. It's probably more like Christmas party dressy. It's about 3/4 length dress with a jacket that has some scattered sparkly thingamabobs. It's not real fancy or ball gown sort of thing. And I am still trying to figure out the semi-formal/ Palo dinner. Well, I don't know if this helps. I know that when I have been on other cruises, there is such a range of what people wear to dress up. I like to dress-up and look nice, but I like to be comfortable too and not stuffed into something that I can't breath and won't enjoy myself. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

...was that this chickie-poo made a downright insulting judgemental comment to justify HER not wanting to get all spiffed up, and no one but me said anything, but when *I* say something about it, suddenly I'm trying to start a flame war? OOOooo-kay then!

I think that "It's my vacation and I'll ignore all the recommendations and do what I want and to hell with the rest of you" attitude is downright classless, and I'm glad I don't have to deal with some of these folks, but whatever...I'm apparently ready to fight w/someone cause there's also a thread about people who do not pay for/use the DCL transfers, but still expect DCL to pick up their bags so they can get into their limos and not have to get all the luggage to/from the limos, or tip the guy for handling the luggage! Excuse me? You dont' want to pay or use the service, but you want the benefits? I started to reply and then shut my browser, cause I'm just being a witch today apparently. *grin*

Kim, I have a black velvet dress (minus the sparkly things) that I LOVE and have worn many times to xmas parties (http://trulson4.tripod.com/photos.html - down near the bottom you'll see 2 photos from past xmas parties, with my pretty black velvet dress - which I dont' fit into anymore *sigh*) - that's exactly how I expect to see people on formal night, a "christmas party" sort of attire, great description! OK, I feel better now that I know I'm on the right track for MY clothes. My daughter will just wear a pretty dress, she's easy to get dolled up, and my son, well, he grows so fast and is so picky we'll be lucky to get HIM into a nice pair of pants and shirt, so that's what he'll do. :teeth:

Well, I don't have a ballgown! I guess it's all decided, we're going to wear black dresses and the DH's are generally going to wear suits and Dean has promised to NOT wear his Speedo! So we'll all get along so long as you don't laugh at my Wallmart finest! (Actually, I bought my outfits at Chico's last year. Nothing new for me this year!) If my mom weren't coming over soon to help with stuff I'd go upstairs right now and try things on!

Oh, how I wish I could justify packing for the cruise and not packing the house!

I saw my Passporter today, somewhere, but I don't know where. I do know where my Passports are, tho, so that's good.

Cheers! I'll check in later!

You're so sweet!

DD is trying to get me to buy her a new "formal" dress, and new shoes, and is using this "But MOM, we're going on a CRUISE!" card as much as possible!! She's now trying to get herself a new pair of high heeled clogs (very much the rage, because you KNOW that clogs in New England in the winter make SO much sense *rolls eyes*) and claims they will go wonderfully with the long black dress she has her eye on...

uh huh...

Dean -- you are sweet!!! Are you trying to flatter us so we will help you pack?! ;)

I think you can't go wrong with a black dress. On the other hand, I guess you don't stand out either since there will probably be plently more of them! At the same time, I don't think you can go wrong with a fancy gown either. I think there will be plenty of them too. DH came home with a suit, dress shirt and tie for DS -- all 'gently used' from the 2nd hand kids store. It is SO cute. The only thing is that he doesn't have any suitable (pardon the pun) shoes. DH is working on that. Oh, and by the way, I did forget to mention -- since we don't get out much and like to put on false airs, DH will be wearing a tux.

OK, I've heard that our Cruise Director perhaps needs a little loosening up in dealing with the cruisers. Perhaps we can help her by some ice-breaking questions. How about this one?

We had a suit for Tyler, but it lasted all of 2 holidays and then the kid outgrew it! *sigh* I'm going to stop feeding him. Speaking of dress shoes, Payless has great "affordable' dress up shoes for little boys - we used to get Ty's wingtips there all the time - again, a new pair for just about every holiday!

I love the tux comment...can we put that on the back of a tshirt? "Doesn't get out much and likes to put on false airs..." *snicker*

DH considered a tux rental, but he's going to see if he can fit in his dad's, and if not, the suit will do him...just talked to one friend and she has a RED velvet long dress, how risque is THAT!
