I just wanted to thank everyone for all the great advice!! I ended putting a deposit on BCV through Disney this afternoon. I am planning to go at the end of may and I was able to get a one bedroom at BWV. I was surprised-- didn't think i would get in anywhere at this late of notice. The only problem is that i could only get 4 nights and was planning to stay for five. Any advice as to what to do the first night. Should i try hotel availability--where is the best in proximity to BWV?? Also should I be dissapointed at not being able to stay at my Home resort on my first vacation or just happy I got in anywhere at all???

You put down a deposit but it is not final yet. Tell your guide you really need that day and let them know it is important. From different threads I have read the guides are able to pull off "miracles" and make rooms appear. Another option is get on the waiting list for the last day and then try to get a room for one night at BCV. They are so close you wouldn't have much of a move.
Welcome to the DVC family and Welcome Home
Good luck in your room search

Welcome Home!
I have found that there are some decent rates to be had at the Swan/Dolphin if your one night does not come thru. One suggestion I have read about the wait list is to make sure they put you on it for the longest period of time available (sometimes you come off the list at 30 days) and then call member services aprox 1-2 weeks before arrival because they sometimes will call the resort and find a room for you! Just make sure you cancel your back up in time (our cancellation at the Swan is 5 days prior).
Good luck getting the 5th night!

to my new neighbor. You will enjoy BCV'S, and I too would suggestion calling your guide and see if they can pull a few magic strings to get you your other nights stay.
Congrats and welcome to the neighborhood !!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!
I'm certain that you should waitlist for the first night, I feel confident you will get that night! May isn't the busiest of times.... If you do need to stay somewhere the first night, what about trying Priceline at the last minute for a Resort in the WDW area? You might get the Swan/Dolphin... But, like I said, go on the waitlist, I'm sure it will come through....
Oh, I think you should be really happy you got availability!!!

Congratulations and welcome home!
As far as if you will be happy at BWV it is a beautiful place and you will have many more years to stay at BCV. If you really want to stay at BCV though you can try waitlisting there for not only your first night, but your entire stay. It seems to really work or you guide might be able to pull some strings, that seems to work for you very first reservation sometimes.
When will you be going? I will be at the BCV on May 16 for 6 nights.
