We're looking for names of good golf courses near VB. Both of us are pretty good players and don't mind spending $75-$100 a round for something really nice. I know many of the best courses are private, members only. Any suggestions for public, semi-private layouts that are scenic and well-maintained? Will DVC at Vero make the tee times for us in advance if we request?

DH played Sandridge in 2001 when we stayed at VB. Very inexpensive but DH liked the course. He's a 7 handicap golfer. 18 holes walking were $14 and $20 with half a cart, $24 on week-ends and holidays. Sandridge phone #: 561-770-5000. These are 2001 prices so there may be changes. We also drove to Port St. Lucie (PGA Village). They have some really good courses!! I can't remember for sure how far it was, seemed like an hour or hour-and-a-half drive. Interstate all the way. I know there are several courses in Vero Beach. The Disney Vero Beach Resort has information and can make you tee-times if you'd like, some at a discount I think.
