More of a merchandise question than a resorts question, but does anyone know if the ambient music/sounds you hear at AKL (the resort, not necessarily the park) are available on CD? I am particularly thinking of the music/sounds you hear waiting at the bus stops and just outside the lobby.

Seeing everyone's pictures and catching a review on the Travel Channel has got me homesick for AKL again. :(

Thanks in advance.

I bought several CD's in the gift shop and that was the music you would hear around the resort. I could tell you the names of the CD's but they are in my car and my DH has it.

I'd love to know the names, too, of the cd's.

Thanks!

When we returned from our trip in June 2002, I posted the following on the AKL thread. It may have changed this then, but at the time the music they sold at the AKL store was not the music they played at the pool and busstop.

My husband and I enjoyed the music played throughout the lodge so he asked at the gift shop about purchasing it. This is obviously a frequest request, because they gave him a sheet which stated “Where can we purchase the music that is played throughout the resort?---Most of the music is available at Virgin Megastore. Here is a Listing:
Telek: Go Ralom, Balamaris, Talaigu
Vieuz Diop: C On, Mom’s Jam, Nio Koto Koba
Khadja Nin: Africa Obota, Embargo, Like An Angel, Mama, Mzee Mandela, Turasa
Voices (of Africa): Dala, Ekibobo, Kothbiro, Ngak, Ondiek, Tatenda, Wasuze Otya
Nakodje: Aliou Wara, Nana
African World: Sou
Samite: Bring Back . . . Music, Cradle with Love, Esawayo, Having a Good Time, Night Stories, Tindiba

That's odd. I bought Voices and Wasauze Otya. I also bought Jabula ( The Joyful Spirit of Southern Africa) and Wassalou (Show Me the Way) both are very good.

I don't know if Virgin has a website, but you could try calling the one in Downtown Disney or we have one here in Chicago.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner the boards and my computer are not getting along very well! LOL!

Thanks for asking this question! I loved hearing that music too and still miss it!! We had a pool view room and many a night after DD went to sleep I was out on the balcony reading and listening to that wonderful music. :)

We bought the Jabula - Joyful Spirit of Southern Africa CD on our last stay, and while I'm not sure which of the songs on the CD are played in the lobby, it sure does remind me of our trip!

So nice - when it's dreary weather here, like today, I can put on Jabula and go on a little vacation in my head!
