We will be staying at the BWVillas 4/6 - 4/12 and then Universal 4/12 - 4/14. I just added the stay at the Port. as we have never been to Universal. It is a surprise to my family! Anyway, I'm comfortable with our 2 daughters, ages 14 and 15 roaming WDW by themselves. How about Universal? Is it safe and does anyone out there allow their teenagers to go off alone? Please advise, as I like to have the rules set out before we go...less arguments. Also, we have 2 babies. Will they put a fridge in the room for bottles? Thanks!

13 days to go and counting!

My oldest is 13yo so I'm not quite there yet with letting my kids roam, but if you're comfortable with WDW I think that Universal would be fine. The hotel is so close to the parks that I would think that it would be even better than WDW. Will you have 2-way radios or cell phones to keep in touch? That would make all the difference to me.

I see loads of teenagers roaming around unchaperoned at IOA all the time. I think if you give them two way radios or cell phones they will be fine.

Rubianne, The BWV studios have a small fridge in the room. The Hard Rock also has one, but with the sodas, beer, etc you can buy. We have 5 kids ranging from 19 to 5, and we let the teenagers roam at WDW, IOA, and Universal. We have never had a problem. When they go together, they just make a plan to meet somewhere on the 1/4 hour, if they ever get split up. Have a great trip.

thanks everyone for your response! We do plan on bringing our cell phones for communication. I called Verizon, my carrier, and if we use them 10 minutes a day, it will only be around $80.00, $5.00 more than renting numberic pagers, but a heck of a lot more convenient. My girls are very responsible and I trust them, it's everyone else out there I worry about....
Anyway, less than 2 weeks and counting! Thanks again for the info...
As far as the fridge goes, we have a 1 b/d villa at the bw, which has a full kitchen, but the fridges in Universal, can you put bottles in them?
thanks.

Yes you can put bottles in the Fridge. If they don't fit, just take a couple cans of soda out, and each day put them back ( so you're not charged). They do an inventory each day, but I still think you may be able to fit the bottles in without taking anything out.
