View Full Version : Service men/women to Keep in our Prayers...feel free to add to the list

We have MANY DIS family members who have a special someone serving over seas right now. Is there a way I could get everyone to post there special someone's name (first) and what or where they are right now and what group they are in (branch, battallion or whatever)

This way, we all can listen for the names of camps or divisions like 101st or 3rd Battallion. It will also help to have them all in one post to lift up one by one in prayer.

I was going to make a written list, but thought others might like it as well.

I would like to add my brother Jud who is serving in an undisclosed country. We are waiting for him to return soon.

04-07-2003, 10:29 AM
danalin--I'm so sorry to read that.:(

I found pictures of my sister's husband on this site:

(on the left hand wall, second from right)

(standing on the right, giving a briefing)

I forwarded them to my sister and she was so excited, she hadn't seen them before. He's a Lt. Cmdr on the USS Truman--I'm not completely clear about what he does, but I know he's been flying every day as a wing command (?). He's not a pilot, but trained last year to accompany the flights as part of whatever department he heads.

We live several miles from Quantico, so we have many friends we've made over the years we think of every day who are over there right now or soon to be deployed.

04-08-2003, 10:28 AM
My friend Michael, I just found out he has been sent to Iraq :(

I dont know any other details at this point.

04-12-2003, 12:49 PM
Prayers for our friends, Peggy & Mike, whose son is an Army Ranger and on his way home (back to the States via Germany). He was hit with shrapnel earlier this week (his Mom says it may have happend on his 23rd birthday). Anyway, his name is Kris, and he's going to be OK - this is a young man I've known for 16 years. His younger brother is a medic with the same group. Thank God the Army has the injured call home themselves!

Kris and his brother have been home and back to Georgia. Both are fine and their parents are relieved to have them on US soil!

04-15-2003, 03:11 AM
thank you for letting me post details of my fiances best friend who is serving in the british army in Iraq. We've just had a call from him that he's coming home in 10 days and will be able to be best man at our wedding after all...and better than that, he's safe!:) :)

Still keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers over here.

04-15-2003, 07:17 AM

04-15-2003, 01:54 PM

Hugs for you kk, I'll be thinking good thoughts.

04-16-2003, 11:26 AM
:( Prayers and pixie dust that he is ok. The waiting must be terribly hard.

04-17-2003, 09:25 AM
Well, the accident happened on Monday and Ron's parents have not been called, so we're assuming it wasn't him.
:( Still sending my prayers to the family of the soldier who was killed....

Two of our groomsmen left last week for Iraq: Jason in the Army and Lou in the Air Force. DH met up with a bunch of friends last weekend before Lou left, and apparently a good number of their friends are over there. (They went to a military college, so, well, all their friends are in the military!) So please keep all the VMI Class of 2002 grads who ae over there in your prayers!

06-08-2003, 11:38 PM
I wanna add my friend Charles Smith who is over in Iraq. He's a Marine from Camp Pendleton. Luckily I finally heard from him the other day and hope things are going good for him.

I hope this is ok, but my DH's home port is in Mayport, Florida on the USS John F. Kennedy. It hasn't been sent anywhere since it came back from Operation Enduring Freedom last summer. But DH just got sent to Norfolk, VA for weapons excercises for a week. He'd rather be here in Chicago with DD for Father's Day, but he is not complaining. I'd just wanted to add him onto the list for your prayers.

And for his late father:
Marine Sargeant Major Keith Haddow
laid to rest in Fort Sheridan, Illinois

I wrote a little story about DH and his late father somewhere on the CB, I guess to ease the emptiness of this Father's Day a little.

Prayers to all military who have to be away from their families.

I have never been on this board before, Have been all over a couple of the other boards before, Glad to find this one and this thread. I will be praying for all our service personnel over seas and here at home.

I met and married my husband just after the first Gulf War. He was in the Air Force. He was a SGT. instructing the military populace (sp?) with Disaster Preparedness, I belonged to Operation Homefront here in FL. When he came back from Saudi, we met, and married and as they say the rest is history, 12 years later. (Some said it wouldn't last.) What a story that was, we were even on the front page of a local paper.

He has since been out of the military but a police officer now and has friends that were sent over to the Middle East, both Afghanastan and Iraq.

He wanted to reinlist when this all started, but his job here is important to.

My heart goes out to all those with family members over seas and who have lost loved ones.

My prayers are with you all. God Bless and be safe.

Today in church our chaplain announced that one of the regiments at our sister base (located an hour away) received word that they will be deployed until April of next year, one full year after leaving their families. This was very unexpected because many thought they were only being deployed for 4-6 months. All of the family members of this regiment are here in Italy at this base and our chaplain mentioned that some families are taking the news very hard. One pregnant woman upon hearing the news stated she didn't want to live any more, she didn't want her baby to live, she just can't handle the seperation. So, if you have any spare prayers please keep these families in them because they not only are dealing with their loved ones seperation and their loved one being in a "hot" zone, but they are trying to live their lives in a foreign country where life isn't always as easy as being in the US.

07-28-2003, 12:14 PM

My husband is SFC Garret Spencer, serving in Iraq with HHS 5/3 FA (Army). They are part of the 17th Bridage based in Balad, Iraq. He has been in Iraq since April. We are planning a trip to Disneyworld when he returns, probably May. Does anyone know if they will be doing another special promotion for military next year? Any information would be appreciated. God Bless!

02-09-2004, 03:13 PM
Just found out last night that DH will most likely be deployed to Afghanistan for a year, but not until *next* February. He will be gone a total of 18 months (5-6 months training in Texas, then to Afghanistan). I am grateful it isn't Iraq, but we have two little boys who are quite enamored with Daddy....it will be tough to have him gone for so long...our boys are 2 1/2 and 6 right now. :(

02-09-2004, 06:16 PM
My husband, Doug, has been gone with his Army National Guard unit for a month now (at Ft. Dix, NJ). They are leaving for Iraq next week (2/18). We have 2 children, DS 4 and DD 6. DD is definitely a daddy's girl and seems more affected than her brother. Doug will also be gone for up to 18 months (and 1 already seems like forever).

Our yearly family vacation is usually Florida for a couple days (Universal) to a week and then a cruise. This year I asked the kids what they wanted to do - of course they wanted to go on a cruise. I suggested Disney World instead and they decided to try that. We are now counting down to our April trip to DW. I've got another vacation scheduled for July then in Sept. school starts (DS will be in kindergarten) - so, I'm trying to schedule things that we can count our days to look foward to, instead of just counting how long we've been missing daddy. So far the bribery seems to be helping - but 18 months is a very long time to a 4yo and 6yo.

My thoughts are with all the other families faced with similar difficult situations. Hopefully we'll be lucky and have our loved one return safely.

02-10-2004, 07:18 AM
Dear stacieps,

My husband Brian is on of the guys that your husband at Fort Dix, NJ has to see or get trained by, before he goes,. Brian has been doing it for a year now all over the United States.

My boys 9 and 5 have gone threw some rough times. Brian will be done June 30. The boys and I can't wait.

Hang in there

Proud Military "Majors" Wife

My hubby is a Marine and was gone for 10months with the 24th MEU. He is getting ready to leave again in the next few months. Our daughter is 6. The kids will do great. She does better than I do in the beginning. She has her moments, but most of the time she understands that Daddy is keeping us safe and that it is his job. Military children are so flexible and understanding. My daughter and her friends always amaze me. I just make sure to answer all her questions as honestly as I can. She understands the danger too. As much as a 6 year old can. I think honesty is the best policy all the way around.

Planning the trips is a great idea. We do that too. As you can see, we are going in December while he is gone. He isn't a huge Disney fan so he doesn't mind.

Just remember that you can do or take care of anything!! Military spouses are a rare breed!

I have someone to add...

My best friends father has headed out to Kuwait. He is a reserve at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He is expected be back March of 2005 but we are all hoping that it is sooner but safely.

Hey guys -

My husband is on the USS Pinckney, which, if you have seen the news today, suffered a few losses as a result of a bus crash in South Carolina, while on the way to a wreath-laying ceremony at Mr. Pinckney's grave. Please keep these families in your prayers.

Just a note to pray for my son Cpl Joshua Heidecker, USMC. He has not been in Afghanistan or Iraq, but is deployed aboard Navy ships for protection, etc. He had just returned, but says he will be deployed again soon. They are also talking about extending their deployment time.

04-13-2004, 04:36 PM
A good friend just returned from the Middle East. He has been deployed 3 times in the last 2 1/2 years. I am so happy he is back in the U.S. and safe. He is in the Air Force.

I continue to support all of our troops and wish them the best. Thank you, troops, for all you have done. :)

Please pray for my friend Tracy. Her DH was killed Friday in Iraq. He'd only been there 2 weeks. He had an 11 year old DD named Skylar that she loves like her own. Right now the DD's mother is being very kind and good to Tracy - but she's not always been that way. Please pray that she'll see how much Tracy needs that little girl - and how much Skylar needs Tracy. She can't have any children of her own.

God bless all the servicemen and women and their families.

My BIL leaves again June 2nd for Fallujah, Iraq. He will be gone 9mo to one year. He was there last year for 7mo. He is a reservist in the Marine Corp. He is a GYSGT, Truck Co, Headquarters Battalion.

He is leaving behind my sister and their three children ages 13, 9, and 7. He's been a Marine for over 19 years.

I will pray for him and the many others scattered throughout the world serving in our armed forces.

I am fortunate enough to now have my husband home after a year, but not without his share of close calls and a 1 month stay at Walter Reed for Leischmeniasis. In Oct we lost my friend's boyfriend (Rest in Peace Mikey!) in a tank accident. The last 2 months has been a joyous time here in the 4ID, but we also see the daily reports of our brothers and sisters in 1 CAV. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone with loved ones still deployed.

My nephew Chris is a handsome, lovely, kind and gentle Marine Lance Corporal. He is a combat engineer attached to infantry and will leave for a very scary part of Iraq in a few weeks.

I'd appreciate any and all suggestions for care packages and any prayers and good thoughts you could send his way.

Thanks and prayers said for all those in harms way!

Thank you for your support of our troops.

I just found otu this week that a good friend of mine is going to be going to Iraq sometime early next year..not sure when yet,,but all we konw is that hes going..

10-05-2004, 07:25 PM
I do not have anyone in my immediate family serving in the "Iraq"/"Afghanistan" conflict but I do feel that the war on terror is real and it is in my families "Heart" to at least acknowledge those that are serving. "Godspeed" Men and Women of this great country...you have our support 100%.

You are the true "SPIRIT" of America!

To the "Baby-Boomers"...if you are fortunate enough to still have parents alive who served in War II...give them a hug and a boat load of thanks for helping to bring this country to the level we're at today.

Let's not forget...This is the greatest country in the world and we have it pretty good here. If you disagree, then move to a 3rd world country and let me know how that works out for you...

I would like to add my DH to the list as well. He left last week for a two year deployment. Our kids (8, 5 & 2) are devastated, but we know that Daddy has an important job to do. He is with the Army National Guard as well!

11-11-2004, 01:33 PM
Put my hubby on your prayer list please. He's a Colonel in the USAFR and although he is home at this time I can't tell you how often he has disappeared (after receiving a middle of the night phone call) since 9/11....we never know where he's going, when he'll come home or if he'll come home...and since he can't share we remain in the dark. It is what it is.

To my daddy in heaven...thank you for helping during WWII.
To my cousin George...also in heaven...we have no idea what happened to you in Viet Nam but we miss you to this day.

Love, peace and strength to all of the families of our servicemen, policemen and firemen...all heroes in our eyes.

11-14-2004, 08:27 PM
Please add my DD's BF Chris to the prayer list. He is in Iraq (for at least a year with at least 11 months to go). He is in the Guard and his unit was called up. May God bless all of the brave men and women serving our country.

To the service men and women who serve our country, Thank You for a job well done!

A Soldier's Thanksgiving Day Message ~
Throughout our great nation on this Thanksgiving, Americans will gather around the dinner table with family and friends to share good food, warm laughter, and the happy memories of Thanksgivings past. But for many of these families, whose loved ones serve in the Armed Forces, this year's Thanksgiving celebration will not be complete. A familiar voice will not be heard and a chair at the table will remain empty because fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, uncles and aunts, and grandparents, too, are far from home protecting the blessings we celebrate this season.

Over seas, soldiers will gather in buildings or tents and celebrate as friends and comrades. On ships at sea, sailors will gather in the mess to enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving fare. In the remote areas airmen will gather for a brief respite from monitoring the skies over seas. And in other areas , Marines will gather to cheer on their favorite football team after their Thanksgiving meal. These scenes will be repeated at military installations far and near, at home in America and across the globe.

So as those of us who are blessed to be with our families this year celebrate and give thanks, we will not forget the homes that have an empty chair at the table. And we will offer a prayer of thanksgiving for you, the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, whose service and sacrifice guarantee the freedoms we hold so dear.

On behalf of your grateful fellow Americans, We like to extend our best wishes to all of you for a joyous and safe Thanksgiving.

I was down in Jackson, MS yesterday on business and a group of us went out for dinner. We were all sitting around deciding on our selections when 2 soldiers in uniform walked in and sat down at an adjacent table. Everyone in my group scrambled frantically to be the first to buy them their beverage of choice. Finally, we said to hell with just beverages and picked up their entire tab for the night.

I have never experienced 2 more polite individuals in my life. They seemed genuinely embarrassed at our generosity. To us, it wasn't generosity at all, it was the least that we could do for these brave young men and women who defend what we take for granted sometimes.

One thing I will say is, I learned a valuable lesson last night in "Taking Things For Granted". I will do my best to never do that again.

"God Bless America" and these fine young men and women who defend her!!!

My DH, a Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves is in Iraq. Hopefully home late summer. Looking forward to his leave soon.

Neptune, what a nice gesture.

01-13-2005, 07:09 PM
While I appreciate the thanks it's not necessary at all. I took one look at these proud young men (actually more like children to me) and it suddenly really hit home! These people are truly America's FINEST and deserve everything we can do for them. A simple gesture like buying dinner isn't nearly enough for the debt that we owe these incredible individuals.

I thought about all the people we really venerate on a daily basis:
- Sports Figures
- Immoral Religious Folks
- Crooked Politicians
The list goes on and on...it occured to me that we really have our priorties in the wrong place. These are the people we owe a debt of honor to.

Then I thought about my father (Retired Navy Chief) and my father-in-law (Ex-Marine) and reflected on the sacrifices they made to put America in the position it's in today during the War II campaigns. I mean where we would be today without people like the two I met in Jackson.

God Bless them and God Bless you, the families, who live through these sacrifices. You, the military families, are the ones who need to be venerated to the highest levels possible. You and your families are the true heroes of America.

God Bless you all...because of folks like you better days are coming for all of America!!!!

Add to the list:

Dave Loague: serving in Iraq for the army. He's from Dorsey, MS. He's been in Iraq for over a year now. Prayers would be appreciated.

William Wilson: just went to Iraq this week. He is in the National Guard and from Plantersville, MS. His wife (one of my best friends) is a wreck and could use any prayers you can spare for her Dh.

One of my other best friends has a brother that just went to Iraq. He is from Tupelo, MS. I honestly can't remember what branch he is serving for or even his name, but any prayers will still be appreciated.

01-14-2005, 07:57 AM
My newphew (22, turning 23) USMC (enlisted for 8 years, still have 5 more to go) will be going to Iraq this summer. He was somewhere in Africa in 2002 for 8 months and now their batch is heading back out and this time it is Iraq.

Our thoughts and prayers for all military men/women..."Lord please wrap your arms around our military men/women to give them strength and keep them safe. Please comfort them as you comfort their families who are waiting for their safe returns. Please help us find peace in this world."

Please remember my brother who has just left for Afghanistan and will be gone for at least 4 months. He has 3 children and a very dear wife (like a sister to me).

We will be keeping all of our military in our prayers as always.

01-16-2005, 02:11 PM
Don't waste your time clicking on the link to skratchy's post. It was very distasteful. It is truly a shame when someone thinks they need to post things against our military and to have the nerve to not post it in English.

My uncle John leaves in a few days (returning, he's already been there) for Iraq. His daughter got married this past year, and her husband, Russell, just left as well.

A friend of my husband's family(Rex)has also been placed in Iraq as a gunman.

I don't know where any of them are stationed or the names of their groups, but please keep them in your prayers.

01-29-2005, 03:32 PM
Just another thought...keep our veterans in your prayers as well. My brother was in Desert Storm, and I think it bothers him every day to not be able to finish what he started. Once a soldier, always a soldier, and they all believe in what they are fighting for - freedom. So keep your prayers with those that have fought for us, and no longer can, they have need for our thoughts and thanks as well.

01-29-2005, 03:36 PM
sunny04-I am right there with you in keeping our veterans in our prayers as well. All of our service people do so much for us and continue to do so. Thanks for the reminder.

I last posted in May of 04. My BIL a GYSGT with the Marines stationed in Iraq notified us yesterday that he had lost one of his Marines. He was killed by an IAD (roadside bomb). He should have been coming home in about a month. Please pray for his family and friends.

Let's remember the 19 men from the 3rd Battalion, 25th Regiment Marines stationed in Ohio who gave their lives and were buried over the past 2 weeks, so that we may enjoy the freedoms that we do. Remember those that went before them and the families that are left behind.
And, ALWAYS remember those still serving stateside and around the globe that they all make it home, safe and sound.

I am very grateful for all these men and women who are sacraficing themselves for us here in the US. My best friend lost her husband in Afghanistan, October 30, 2003. Stff. Sgt. Paul Sweeney will always be in our hearts and is sadly missed. Paul lives on in his 2 sons, Sean and Ryan. And this weekend we are having a get together for my brother-in-law, who is leaving next month for Iraq. He is in the Navy reserve. My son, John Milligan, is in the Army. He joined right after high school graduation. He has been stationed in Germany since January 2004. On October 5 he left for Kuwait. After three weeks of training there, he will be in Iraq for about a year. Before the Army will discharge him, he will have to spend three more months in Germany (his tour of duty is up in June 2005). I have not seen him since Jan. 2004.

My son is Sgt. Ryan Looper, US Army. He is on his second tour w/OIF. 505th Engineers. He was deployed 08/2005. He has a beautiful wife of 3 1/2 yrs. named Valarie who is holding down the home front. I'm praying for all troops serving and the families/friends that love them. We had the most magical family trip to WDW for Thanksgiving 2004 after he came home from Iraq and are already booked for Thanksgiving 2006 in faith that he will be home by then. He has told me that conditions for the soldiers are better than when he was there before. Please pray for him and our family as Christmas will be very difficult this year. It is the 1 yr. anniversary of my FIL's death and with our son away it will be sad for my MIL. Thanks for this thread and for your prayers.

My wife's nephew, Specialist Michael Gilmer has been in Iraq for about 2 weeks and was one of the soliders injured in the mortor attack on Christmas morning. Thankfully nothing serious just a split head opening that was stitched. Please keep him and his family and fellow army buddies in your thoughts and prayers.

My dad is in the US Navy and I have to part with him for 3 months at a time. My uncle is leaving to go Iraq in Feb. and I honestly do not think that his wife and daughter can manage on their own. He will be gone for 13 months, and his daughter can't be away from him for more than a couple of days. I pray for both of these men, and both of their families, along with the entire armed forces and their families.

I have a prayer request...
Just a little background...
My DBIL is in the Army, and is currently serving in Iraq.
His wife, my DS, is in Germany with their 18-month-old daughter.
He is due to come "home" (back to Germany) to be with his wife and daughter in just a little over a month. They will probably remain in Germany for another year or two, and then he will be hopefully stationed back here in the States soon after that.
She called today because she got a call from him. He told her (what limited info he could give her over the phone) that he will be headed out first thing in the morning for what he called "the most dangerous mission he's been on yet". All he could really say was that it's in the same area where his unit lost three men last time they were there. And he told her that he has a really bad feeling about this, and that he wanted to call and talk to her and the baby before he goes. "Just in case", he said.
This really worries me because he's famous for downplaying his danger in order to keep my DS from worrying. So if he's expressing concern for his safety, then he must really be in danger.
I know that all of our service men and women need our prayers all the time, and I know we all just want our loved ones home safe and sound, but if you could just maybe put an extra little word for him and his unit, that would be great!
Thank you all! :grouphug:

DNephew reports for Marine Corp boot camp tomorrow. DSis is nervous but we are all proud of him!!!!

Got a letter from our Nephew. He's pretty home sick and says all they do is drill all day "except when they throw in some stupid **** just to annoy is". He's not done with boot camp until November so he's probably right "on schedule". ;)

What a wonderful thread!

My husband was AD Army for 10 and is now with the AZ National Guard.
E Co. 1/285th Avn. Bn.
Ft. Hood Texas for training on a new Apache attack helicopter, then off to the Middle East (probably Iraq or Afgan) until Januray of 08. Could be as far out as May of 08 though.

My thoughts go out to all of the other military members and their families on this board and everywhere!

10-13-2006, 11:29 AM
Just found this wonderful thread. Over 400 members of our area National Guard was deployed including my nephew Major Corey Seats who had his second child on August 16. I know he arrived in Iraq last week. We had families who had more than one member deployed. One had the father and son and another had both son in laws. I understand they are to be locating IED's along the roadsides. :sad1: We are all praying for their safe return in about a year.

God bless each and every one of our military and their families! You are all in my thoughts and prayers. This is a great thread! I am so thankful that I was able to IM with my 21 yr old son in Afghanistan tonight and he's hoping to be on a plane out of there later today after almost 6 months (he left right about Mother's Day). He's headed back to his "home" base in Anchorage, Alaska but hopes to have a stopover in the Minneapolis-St Paul airport about 3 hours from here on the way. Then if all goes well he'll be home around Christmas for leave and a trip to Disney in early January. Please send us pixie dust! And help me pray for his safe return. We're anticipating another 1 yr deployment somewhere after that but hoping for the best.

wish they provided pics like that when my DD went through boot!

My husband is not over seas yet but he will. Please add him.

Thank you,

PS I'm not sure on all the information yet. He is Sargeant Stuart Kirksey of the United States Marines. He is in 0311, and his unit is from Montgomery AL. They will be leaving the us in July.

02-24-2007, 12:23 PM
People, I do not mean to sound mean or anything like that but I really don't think that you should be putting your relatives' full name, rank, where their unit is from and what their travel dates are on-line. Some have given way too much info and although this is a Disney Site, you cannot stop anyone from reading it. My son was in Somalia(sp) for 2 yrs. and one of his buddy's mother put his address out on the internet for others to send mail to him. She ended up having Military Police at her door and her son was shipped to another place in the dead of night!!!

I did 3 yrs in the Navy during Viet Nam and we were constantly reminded NOT to give any information to anyone about anything!!!!! It could cost a service man, his unit and many others their life!

I understand how you are feeling, as I have been down this road many times with my son and now my grandson. Please be very very careful what you put out in public.

My dh left in March for his third long tour in Iraq. He's with the 3rd ID that led the invasion into Baghdad in 2003. Then he went for a year during OIF3 in 2005. Now he's gone for OIF5 for what will be 12-18 months. You'd think we'd be "old hat" at this but it never does get easier. It's familiar, but not easy.

Anyway, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, just as I know we (and WDW) are in his thoughts.

DS and DDIL are both in the Air Force. DS just left for 6 months in Iraq last week. They have 2 wonderful kids. A 2yr old boy and 4 week old baby girl. While DDIL was pregnant this last time she had a lot of sinus trouble and infections. She was finally seen by the specialist and has been diagnosed with a tumor in her sinuses. She is going for a biopsy on Thurs. morning. They are in Texas and we and her parents all are on the east coast. Please pray for her. She has so many burdens right now. Thanks.

My SonIL Josh Hutchison just came home from Ft. Sill, OK for a couple of days to spend with my daughter. He is flying out this afternoon back to Ft. Sill and then will be heading to Iraq by next weekend. He drives huge tow trucks and works on the diesel trucks, so we are hoping that he will be a little safer, but this would still put him in convoys from time to time. Keeping my daughter busy for a year will be a task. We've have been putting together a list of his favorite things that he would like to see from time to time...one of them being softer toilet paper :rotfl: He calls the army tp "John Wayne" paper! We plan to have a calendar made for him that will have pics of their trip to WDW and their wedding from last May, and some family photos. They weren't able to be together on their 1st ann'y. :sad1: She's learning what it is to be a military wife

This is a prayer we say every night, not just when "poppy" is deployed (he just did until Feb. '10)
Lord hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

May God bless all those who are away and the families at home who pray and wait.

Hi, I'm another wife asking for support! dh john was reservist for five years who got pulled back to active this summer, he spent three months in TX, has nine more in SC, then off he goes to Afghan.

phew. it is not easy coming back to the land of the military wife after all this time! We have a bit of adjustment to do. dd was 2 last time he deployed so she doesn't remember it. Now, it's me and the kids, my mom is gone, my dad moved away, and we live within reporting distance to the base, but not close enough to commute - so I feel a bit alone, ok, a lot alone!

I'm enjoying planning our trip to keep me occupied, it falls into the leave period between assignments and will be a great r&r for all of us.

11-29-2009, 01:36 PM

After reading the DIS boards for a very long time, I have finally registered, and have chosen the salute to those in service to our country for my first post.

To those of you who are serving, or have served, my heartfelt thanks. I think it's fair to say that no one knows the rigors of your life whether deployed or "home." You are in my daily prayers.

Thanks also to the families who support men and women in the service, including wives, husbands, children, mothers, father, siblings and beyond. What you do for their morale keps them going. You also are in my daily prayers.

It is an honor and privilege to share the love of Disney and to keep in my prayers all who read this thread.

I've been on this site for a while and didn't know these forums where here. This is awesome!
In 2007 my in-laws took us on a trip to WDW. We stayed at The Greens. My father-in-law served most of his life in the army, stationed in Germany and around Europe. Just staying around all of the military families was a great experience for me. It really made me renew my pride for all of the fine people that serve.

I don't have many regrets, but I do regret turning down those phone calls after I was out of high school.

God bless all that serve.
