Woke up to the news that we lost a helicopter last night, full of British and American soldiers. Olie North, retired Marine and currently a reporter for Fox News, was in one of the other choppers that took off with this one. He said that they had completed their mission and were on the way back. He saw/filmed the crash and said it was very quick. He believes it was weather related, probably wind/sand. He's turned the film over to the military investigation teams.

So sad those families who are getting this horrible news this morning. :(

I'm up very early this morning to try and catch up on work.

Just heard on radio from sister of one of the people killed yesterday in the helicopter. Her father is bereft at the loss of his only son. This made me feel very sad... dont know what else to say really.

And now the news of 2 of our own Sea King helicopters crashing too...

I feel for Wives, Mums and Dads and Sons and Daughters of the missing...

Yes, this morning's crash says there were 6 Brits and 1 US killed :(

Of 21 killed since the confilct began, 19 is from air crashes - 14 Brits, 5 Americans. A twisted irony don't you think? :(

That's the way it was in the Gulf War as well. We lost more to friendly fire and accidents, than to the enemy. I can think of five friends that we've lost (in training accidents) since my husband joined the service. It's the nature of the beast.
