Yawn........
I woke up at about 4 and headed to the bathroom....the last thing I expected to find was Elizabeth heading to our room at the same time. We both scared each other in the hallway!!! Thunder woke her up. After we both caught our breath she joined us in our room for about 1/2 hour until she was sure the storm had passed....so naturally once we got back to sleep we overslept!!!
Not sure my brain is in gear yet for the riddle....

We have had terrible weather here most of the week. It has been very foggy and wet, and yesterday we had drizzle and SNOW all day. It is in the 30's again, but today it is supposed to turn the corner, and tomorrow we are to get up to 50 again. It really looks like a mud hole out at the new house!

I was up a bit early today, Diane - figured I'd jump right in. :)
I'm sure the last thing both of you expected was to find somebody else in the hall, Gail!
Stephanie - I had originally heard (and posted) that it was 16, but all the agencies are reporting 12 this morning. I've heard that another soldier has been shot and killed this morning....:(

Tonight is the Variety/Talent show for the middle school. Megan is doing 4 dances in it so we'll be spending our evening at the auditorium. My parents, DH's mother (his Dad doesn't go out much), DH's aunt, my SIL & nieces are all coming out for it:D Should be a great evening for Meg.:D
Tomorrow is DS Matt's Science Olympiad competition. He has to be at the competition by 7:15am and he competes in 4 events, astronomy, sciecne of fitness, mystery architecture & meteorology. If their team does well tomorrow we advance to the state competition. Keep your fingers crossed:D

We had steady, drenching rain yesterday. Today we are fogged in. The kids have the day off school, so no transportation worries today. Diane - I think we've got the weather you had earlier this week!
Lars - ENJOY the show and best of luck to Matt! :)
Marsha - this is such a tough time. I think we're all keeping a wary eye on the news......

Erin's solo is really coming together nicely. She actually has two coaches working on it with her. One for all of the technical moves and another to help her polish up her 'style'.
The group numbers are really looking good too! Katie is in a group number too. All of them are looking good!

Good Morning, Everyone!
Whew! Everyone is up and at 'em early today! I have a few ideas on the riddle but nothing really cohesive (if a cohesive thought actually ever happens in this brain!)
I'll be at Rutgers all day starting today for a 3 day swim meet - Junior Olympics! Matt is swimming in 2 relays - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. His club sponsors the meet so we all have to put in time running it. It'll be fun.....but tiring!
Hope everyone has a good (AND DRY) weekend!

Thanks, Diane. I'll relay that (he likes the riddle so he I'm sure he'll be thrilled to hear it from you!)
It's especially sweet for him to be going to JOs because relays are chosen by coaches based on hard work. He doesn't have gold times to enter individual events but his coach wanted him to have the experience of going to JOs. Hence, his entry. He was thrilled beyond belief.

Morning! Thanks to all of you on RMC who stayed awake with me last night long enough for me to get to 1000. The funny thing is, when I first started DISing, I said to my family "Look at these people with thousands of posts! Don't they do anything else but post all day long?" Looks like I've joined that club!
Can you believe DH is at the top of OK's NCAA pool? He can barely walk around the house his head is so big. It doesn't help that my entry is holding up the bottom...
Good luck to all of the DD's and DS's competing in their various activities this weekend! It's fun to read about the different things that everyone is involved in.

Good morning everyone! I have already sucked down my morning coffee... and I am still "noodling" on the riddle. No great ideas yet... but I am not really running on all cylinders with this head cold AND from staying up too late watching the news coverage of the war. Having news reporters embedded in the troops makes for some very compelling coverage. I am sure a light bulb will go on eventually for me... or if not.... I may just do the Friday nakey dance!
Gina and Lars, wishing the best for both of your kids. Feel like an aunt to everyone's child here. :) Which is okay... because I am considered a "cool" aunt by all of my real niece and nephews (have 12 of them and 4 GREAT neices and nephews!).
Still under the weather. Totally lost my voice by the end of the day yesterday and my throat felt like I had swallowed cut glass. Not so sore this morning and the voice is back - but about an octave deeper than normal. I am going to squirrel away in my office today and complete some assignments that are due on Monday. Lots of hot tea, and have my office radio tuned to the NPR station to listen to news reports. Doesn't sound like too bad of a day. :)
to catch everyone up on me since I have been AWOL - I quit my computer job and went back to school to do what I have wanted to do since I was 5 - become a veterinarian. So I have been working on that goal and took the position of managing a humane society to gain animal care experience for vet school.
I love the job and I learn something new everyday.
Right now I am exhausted - one of the local grocery store distributors gives us all of their "damaged goods" - which are essentially ripped bags of dog food, cat food, and kittly litter. Well they dropped off a box truck that is 25ft long and the stuff inside is packed almost 5ft high the entire length of the truck - we have spent the last three nights taping bags and lugging -its messy, tedious work and we are all exhausted. The nice thing though is that because we get so many donation outside of the damaged goods that we are able to distribute most of this to other shelters and rescue groups. It all goes to feed hungry animals!

Sorry I'm late. Had to take the kids to school. Usually DH does that but he left early this AM to go to NYC for a conference.
Now I will go read the thread.
At least I have LPP.

Last night for dinner, we had "breakfast" which is one of my kids favorites.....and there was leftover bacon...so I think for dinner tonight, they should get liver, onions, and bacon......
Am I the ONLY person who likes that????

You know I had every intention of going back to work after figuring out a few alternates, but then I went downstairs to get something to drink from the cafeteria and the next thing you know, buscuits with country gravy and hasbrowns made their way up with me :p SO I figured as I'd eat I'd check in again :teeth:
Diane, I think Bernie left all his hints on his Friday's places post ;)
Rob, best of luck with the loan... the waiting is always the worst! So I hope you hear from them soon!
DD, sorry to hear you are still sick... sounded like yesterday was awful for you. I hope this weekend will let you rest up and get well :)
Cyn, what a wonderful thing you are doing right now!!! That is so wonderful!!! Best of luck to you as you go through school!
I love that hat Bernie!!! Much more proud to have that one than my "beloved" Ohio State hat (especially since they didn't make it to the play offs  )
Lars, no comment on your favorite teams :p
And can someone explain to me what bunco is?
Okay I am really off now!!! Work really needs to get done!

LPP = Last Post Pants. Whoever has the last post on YESTERDAY'S riddle when I check it gets these in the morning, Cyn!

Good morning OK and the Corral
The later I get here, the longer it takes to catch up on everything.
Gina - good luck to Matt swimming. Have fun running the meet. Our children's youth goes by so fast.
Lars - good luck to Megan and Matt. I might be upset with OK if he gave me BIG pants. What did he mean by that.
I want to play Bunko. I never have but have been assured that it would not take long to learn. I may get my neighbor or friend to teach me.
DblD - when my voice is like that, I call it my deep, sexy voice.
Stephanie - I like liver but the family doesn't so I can only get it out.
I would love to see water this color.

I love calves liver and bacon. Truthfully, I can't remember the last time I had it....
Auntie DblD! That has a nice ring to it! Are you going to take the kids to see Mickey soon??? I'm sure Matt would love to join you!
I can't swear on my Italian Charm Bracelet. I'll just do the OMERTA thing....code of silence for you, Steph....that'll do it...
Everyone, have a great weekend! AND KEEP POSTING!

I can't remember the last time I had it either...I'm another in the house of "you're serving what???"
Soooo...I'll probably make it for my neighbor, and take it over to him for his dinner.....the beauty will be that it will be the first thing the kids smell when they get home from school...the looks on their faces will be worth it!!!!!!
Breezy_Carol

DH is not a big fan of liver but did try it. Once when we were first married, he came home and said dinner smelled good. What was it? Well, it was liver, so he tried it. I think that was the last time I fixed it.

Good Morning fellow Riddlers! Sent a PM, Bernie, but I just jumped over to your FPP looking for the clue to see if I was right and I think I will send another guess.
Best of luck to your kids Lars and Gina! It's so exciting watching them, isn't it!
Sorry you have not been well, DblD. I've noticed a lot of people around me with colds etc and, myself, have been trying to keep a scratchy throat and cough at bay for over a week now. I hope that you have a good rest this weekend and are feeling better soon.
The thought of calves liver and bacon with a few fried onions sounds really tasty, right now. I can't remember the last time I had it, either. I don't like to cook it myself, so we've always eaten it out. I'll have to put the "bug" in dh's ear as he likes it too.
Hope you hear good news about your mortgage soon, Rob!
That's a wonderful profession you've chosen to get into CynJ. I wish you the best of luck at school!
A friend and I went to see Yanni at the Air Canada Centre, in Toronto, last night. I love his music and saw him in Hamilton a few years ago, too. The concert was wonderful and he was AWSOME!!!!
Enjoy your day today, everyone and have a great weekend! :sunny:

Good Day All!
Can you believe this is my first chance to check in on the ol' riddle bunch? Sounds like there are lot's of talented DD's and DS's showing their stuff this weekend! Good luck and good times to ALL enjoying those special events with those they love!
LIVER?!?!?! no way - my mom LOVED it and just the smell of it cooking was too much for me to take as a kid....When I first joined WW (some 15 yearss ago) it was a REQUIREMENT to eat liver once a week....actually the ONLY rule I TOTALLY ignored!!!!
I think I may have the answer to todays riddle and am hoping it's not too late to get my weekend pants! :D

hmmm..I see Carol bumping, but not sharing.....
What does Neil call me that I can actually put here???
Very seldom does he ever refer to me using my name....it's usually just inferred that he is talking to me......
It would be more fun to list how I refer to my kids:
Meghan is almost always "Pie-girl" Ask her and often she'll tell you that is what mommy calls her.....it's a take off of Meggie-pie which is what AJ called her for the first year.
Often AJ is either "Pumpkin Pie" or cutie patootie.
Patrick for the longest time was "Pat-rat"
there seems to be a pie theme in my house huh??
NOW i'm really going to go get that coffee
Breezy_Carol
03-22-2003, 07:03 AM
And Stephanie, is there a problem with that? LOL
DH and I really don't have any pet names for each other.
I am with Stephanie that we have more nicknames for the kids. Sarah is Sarah Beara or Sasha (what her brother called her when he was little).
I call Andrew Drewdle Doodle or Ted or Tedrick(long story), none of which he will respond to now.
The LK 4
03-22-2003, 07:23 AM
Sometimes we all call each other "Vern" from those Jim Varney commercials where he used to say "Know what I mean Vern?" and "Hey, Vern!".
Leah is Leah Jean, so sometimes she gets "Leah Jeanie Beanie".

Lew is LJ at work because there's another Lou P. there.
Matt hates it when we call him Machoo....he was given that by an aunt long ago. He's also known as Matt-man and Myrgatroyd.
Elizabeth is ****oo or Boo, EB, EB Lynn and sometimes Matilda (because it goes with Myrgatroid.
I never had a nick-name.....somehow my name didn't lend itself to one. :(
