We plan to travel aboard the 4-night WONDER (we’re first time cruisers) without passports. I understand that we’ll need to bring certified copies of all our birth certificates and government-issued photo IDs (e.g. driver’s license) for the adults. My question is, will we be required to “surrender” any of these documents to DCL? If yes, do you need to get these documents back before leaving the ship on shore excursions? I’m a little nervous about traveling without a passport, but since we’re only going to the Bahamas, I can’t really justify the cost of getting passports just for this cruise. I just want to make certain that I don’t lose any important documents that could create challenges upon return to the USA. Can anyone explain exactly how these documents (birth certificate and driver’s license) are handled? I assume that our KTTW card will also need to go with us wherever we go, right? Any other tips would also be appreciated. Thanks!

No, you don't need to surrender any documents. :) You just show them at check in, and when I get to the room I put them all in the safe and leave them there during the cruise. When you get off at a port you just need your photo ID and your Key to the World card.
