I was a bad girl at Wal-Mart on Friday. When I entered the lawn and garden dept, my green thumb started itching...:D I'm running out of room in my established beds! Time to make new ones...heh heh....:D

I can't help it! I love growing things....:D I showed some restraint and bought some bulbs for my shady areas.....lily of the valley and bleeding heart. I also got some stuff for patio planters....hosta, caladdiums and tiny tot glads.

I got some regular glads to fill in the areas around my trees....as a backdrop. I also planted 7 daylilies as a border to a bed in my front yard.

Then I saw the butterfly bushes. Uh oh! I have violet and lavnedar already and Wal-Mart had pink ones. I'm starting it off in a pot....:D More butterflies, Hooray!

I also got 3 garden phlox....pink. I needed them in a bare area against a naked fenceline.

So I was busy on Saturday getting it all situated in the ground. PHEW!

I'm also setting aside space for a hydrangea and I'm getting more caladdiums to accent my elephant ear beds...:D

I hope to enjoy lovely blooms soon and I will share pictures with my Buds!

Anybody else been bad?

Again! I'm banning myself from bulb sections. I got more caladdiums, oriental lilies, Stella d'Or lilies and 4 dinnerplate dahilas. Still hunting my hydrangea....:D

I need Bulbs anonymous....:teeth:

I'm envious too, Olena, that you are not only able to buy plants but also put them out in the garden! I miss all the flowers and greenery that I saw last week down in Florida.

I have been looking for caladiums around here, for a few years now with no luck so far. I love all the varieties that they come in. What colours did you get? I'm looking forward to seeing your planters done, as I plan to do several more this year.

Bulbs anonymous, Bud? It's that bad, eh? :teeth: :p LOL...

Julie, last year I saw caladiums for sale at some of the garden centres. I remember trying to decide whether to buy some or not. I saw them at Garden Gallery in Burlington, also Terra Nursery on #6 Highway. There are lots of places online where you can order the bulbs, but these were already quite large and leafy.

I think you and I are going to have to have a

Flower Shopping Meet. :) :)

A Flower Shopping Meet sounds like a great idea Kim! I may have to check out the nurseries you mentioned to find caladiums. I've been longing to have them in my shade garden in the backyard, ever since I first saw them at the resort we stay at in Myrtle Beach.
