Here's the deal....we currently have a cat 6 booked for 2 adults and 2 children. I want to add another adult.

I realize that that is too many for 1 cabin so I want to book another cabin for the other adult and put one of our kids in there too. I want to have a balcony but I don't need a balcony for the other cabin. What category is available across the hall or very close by the Cat 6's?

Also, I tried to get a quote by removing 1 child to see how much our room would now cost but the cost came up more (by several $100) for 3 than what it is now for 4 because I of the early booking savings.

I guess I need to email Dreams? If we switched our Cat 6 to a Cat 4 would we get the "early booking" price or would it be what it is today to make the change?

Questions, questions....somebody help!

The inside cabins on deck 6 are category 11. You may be able to book one across the hall from or nearby your current cabin. Also, there are some category 8 rooms on deck 6 forward. If your current cabin is forward, you might be able to get one of the category 8's nearby. These have a porthole but no balcony.

I'm not sure about how changing rooms would affect your reservation, as far as the pricing structure. I would be willing to be that any quote you get now on a new reservation would be more than when you booked. Sounds like quite a headache. Good luck!

We have two cabins booked for January of 2004. They are across the hall, one cat 6, balcony, and one category 10, inside. We are three adults and two kids. Our travel agent put the two parents in the cat 6, and grandma and the two kids in the cat 10. This came out much cheaper than booking the kids into our cat 6 room. Jennifer and Dave's Passporter show each of these rooms as holding three people, but, not sure about that. I went to the official DCL website and tried all the different combinations myself, since we hope to add one other adult. Just one adult in a cabin does not seem to double the price, one adult in a cat 10 would pay about $1,700, but an additional adult prices the cabin at $2,200 total. No matter what combination I tried, the web and calling DCL, the price was much more than what our travel agent (local Cruise Holidays, not Dreams) got for us. Plus, the cat 4 that holds 5 always comes out more, and you lose a bathroom. Your travel agent should be able to finagle the cheapest combination. Now I am just curious to find out if it will become a problem to really have the kids in our cabin, not in the officially booked one (an $800!!! total price difference). Will our room steward make up the beds for the kids in the veranda room and not look askance??? When we travel otherwise, and get two hotel rooms, the kids bounce and sleep different nights in Grandma's and our rooms anyway, but those rooms have always cost the same. Would love to get feedback from what you find out, Sonya

DCL does not really care where the kids sleep. My dad was officially in my room and I was in the room with my mom. We had to book that way to get our onboard credit from the magic kingdom club. We went and got blank room cards for him and myself.

How long does it take to get a response from Dreams with a question? I have emailed my request for additional quotes and am anxiously awaiting the reply.

Abitjaded, that's a good idea to book both kids in the cheaper cabin!

I'll let you know how it turns out!

I understood children were the same price(depending on season) regardless of what cabin level they were in. In a week where children cost $399, I understood the child would cost $399 in a category 12 or a category 2. Is that wrong???

Doesn't seem to work that way these days, at least the way the website worked, and for our sailing in January 2004.

Try your dates on the website and see what happens, I would be curious to know your result. Maybe my difference was because I was adding a second adult to a cabin that only held one.

Ooohh you are right! I really think that is a change. I checked my week and compared a category 10 and a category 4. The child was$200 higher in the 4.

I thought it was the same price for kids no matter what catagory too! I wonder if that is a change.
