Do you have big celebrations? Romantic celebrations? No celebrations?
Do you go out to dinner or have a party or what??:jester:
For our family it depends on who's birthday and how old and what time of year it is!!:teeth:
My DH turned 50 last summer and we had a BIG family barbecue!
Me......I'm not that old, it was dead of winter and there was a basketball game on my birthday!
My sons: the two older ones are happy with going out to dinner and then shopping in the Mall.
The youngest DS still has a party with his friends and lots of cake and ice-cream.:)

I don't buy 'sugar' cereals. But on their birthdays my kids can get ANY cereal they want and eat it til it is gone. A birthday is in a week. She picked out MUDD and Bugs cereal.

My girls get to pick what is for dinner that night. They have a small party with their school friends (up until grade 5). We also have a family party where their grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles come over. Cake and ice cream and usually chinese food or lasagna for that.
For DH, we have a cake at home and take him to dinner or his favorite breakfast place. For me, it's out to dinner and cake at home.

For my parents, my brother and for my dh and kids, it's always a homemade 2 layer cake. My other brothers and their families hardly do anything.

Our kids each have a friends party in the summer at our pool - one in June, one in July and one in August (the August kid actually has a November birthday). The June/July get a combined family party. If their birthday falls during the week and there is no actual celebration they get to choose where we have dinner and we MUST go (even if it is the dreaded fast food my DH despises!)

My birthday is Dec 29th, so it usually gets forgotten. We usually just go to dinner and a movie with one or 2 friends. Nothing special except I pick the dinner and the movie and no one can complain :D
DH's birthday is June 6th. We usually do a fun day trip thing. I think we're going to 6 Flags this year. It will be a hectic weekend because my sister graduates on June 8th.
I'm going to have a big combo bbq for him and my Dad on Father's day weekend.

Curl up on the couch with each other and a bottle of wine and watch a favorite movie.

lol! I was reading my previous post and it sounds bad. They also get to take a friend to a movie and out for dinner at a resturant of their choice. Later they have cake and ice cream, get a video/dvd and the friend spends the night.

Caity, I Love red velvet cake! :) My mama made one for my birthday this year and it was so good.
For our birthdays, my husband and I pick our favorite restaurant and go to a movie afterwards.
My mama has a party for me at her home and cooks dinner.
My daddy also has a cookout for my birthday, usually the next weekend.
We love to celebrate around here ;)

If we eat at home, we use our "You are Special" plate and the birthday person gets to choose the menu. If we go out the birthday person chooses the restaurant. We also celebrate with a dinner with grandparents (usually the weekend before the big day).
Sometimes the kids have a party, but usually we just go to a movie or do something fun as a family. They had parties every year while they were in elementary school, though.
DD's birthday is during the school year. That rates a birthday lunch with me. I check her out of school and we go for a burger or tacos or a pizza buffet. She always felt it was unfair that her big brother doesn't have to go to school on his birthday in June.
Of course, we always have cake and ice cream and gifts. I usually take way too many pictures, too. I have to have photos for my scrapbook. ;)

With the kids, they have a bday party. Usually at home. Then after everyone leaves, I take the bday person shopping to spend any bday money they get, and I let them choose some place for us to go eat (I try to make it just me and the bday kid).
For my SO, I cook his favorite meal, bake him a cake and make him listen to us sing Happy Birthday.:teeth:
For me, my mom takes me out to eat where ever I want to go, and we go there after we hit all the after Christmas sales.:) I threaten anyone that even hints about giving me a party. I also take the Christmas tree down on my bday. It's VERY therapeutic.;)
