Booked my 3rd Disney cruise, 1st on Magic for Jan 3, 2004 sailing
7 travelling in 2 cabins. John, Ruth, Mom in 1, Carter, Kevan, Meghan & Mason in the other. All have sailed DCL before except for Carter & Kevan and this will be Carter's 3rd cruise and Kevan's 1st.
We are going to have fun. Join the crowd!:earseek:
25 trips to WDW, 1 to DL since '75
Most staying off site, the joy of owning in Orlando
Wonder 4-02
Wonder 2-03
17 Cruises so far but only 2 on DCL (They weren't around then)
Did do Disney Cruise on Premier (Big Red Boat) before they folded.

We'll be there too!! It's my first ever cruise!! Did you add your name to the "list" at the top of the threads?
Have fun with the planning... I know I am!!

Still looking for my rooms (I have a confirmation for two cabins but I am trying to better the price from a few sources I have. One guarantees 5% less than best written quote. Haven't heard from them yet.)
I will be on Deck 6 and probably in 6098/99 but who knows.
How many going with you on your "First" cruise?
Note the new countdown on the original post and I have requested name on the 1-3-04 List.
Planning isn't half the fun but without planning you sometimes don't have as much fun.

Great news. I am so happy you will be joining us on the trip.
Finally confirmed my cabin choices for the two cabins we will be in. 6098 & 6099. Poor children and grandchildren having to have the inside "cheap seats" while the parents and grandparent sit in the great Verandah cabin. But look who's paying for it anyway.
Make sure you put you name on the Jan 3rd Unofficial Cruise List.

Welcome to the cruise! I am sure you will have a load of fun. This forum is great for first time cruisers to ask just about any question there is.
Even having cruised as many times as I have in the past, reviewing some of the posts I have learned a lot.
See ya there!

Lets really get a dialog started here for the cruisers on the Jan 3, 2004 Western Magic
Looking for all of you or is the ship really going to be that empty?
I will be on the Disney Cruise with two of my children. DD is 15 and DS is 10. Any other kids of the same age? I have already booked my shore excursions with shoretrips.com and Captain Marvins. This is our second Disney Cruise!!

YEAH!!!!!!! A January 3rd List!!!!! We'll be there, too: Myself and two amazing and practically - gulp- (I'm not old enough to have) grown daughters, Meagan (will be) 20 and Erin 18.
This is our 6th cruise. We have sailed on 2 - 3 nights/ 2- 4 nights and 1 - 7 night (January 4th Western this year).
We are Florida Residents and Disney fanatics. In fact we relocated to Florida nearly a year ago - of course, not solely for Disney, but it was a factor. If anyone needs anything from the World prior to our cruise, feel free to let me know. We head over every six weeks or so.
Good to meet you and looking forward to sharing in the countdown,

We'll be in cabin 8554...
Hope to meet some of you on board!!

Hey TangoMan & Disneygal~ Glad you're joining us.....
This is my first ever cruise. My DD (25-double gulp,, I'm not old enough either!!) went on DCL Feb 2002. So she's an official Castaway Club member!! We're flying down the night before (at least that's the plan right now), and will probably stay at the Hyatt. Looking into Hotwire for a good price!!
Keep up the planning, and I'm sure we'll get a Dismeet going on board!

Happy 200 Day Countdown!
We try to have some sort of celebration to mark each significant "countdown date". Tonight, I am attempting the Palo dessert and passing out gifts that I picked up very inexpensively from the Disney Store 50% sale two weeks ago. Then, of course we will (re)view the DCL video.
How does everyone else celebrate?
Have a good day,

We're heard from Maryland, Mass, North Carolina, Missouri and Wisconsin -anyone else out there? We're moved into the 100s.
I sailed the same itinerary at the same time this year. Florida had a cold snap, so the Sailaway Party was brisk. If you have any questions or Florida requests, fire away...

Absolutely think the people going on this cruise need to celebrate! Not just the significant dates but every date until the cruise.
I look at the cruise brochure almost every day since I keep it in my home office. I keep my old KTTW cards & Castaway club card right here at the computer as a pleasant reminder.
Working on design for our cruise shirts to have them ready as Christmas presents for all going in my group. You'll see us in either red or white. Have a friend who's wife just got a $5000 sewing machine. She really needs a reason to read the manual and learn how to program it for embroidery. The shirts should look great if she ever figures it out. If not, guess I'll have to do the old iron-ons from the computer.
We also need to keep posting to keep the thread near the top of the list.:earsboy: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Happy 193! I'm so glad that someone came back to our thread!
It's been raining for more than a week here in "sunny" Florida, our cats have fleas for the first time in their lives and I'm going on an interview in Melbourne tomorrow - I NEED the diversion of this board.
Anyway, I think that planning (okay, sometimes obsessing) is half the fun. I found buckets of Strawberry Daiquiri/Margarita mix at Bed, Bath and Beyond and great Disney Plastic Wine glasses at DD - they're ready for the next countdown party.
I'm looking forward to our daily chats. Have a great, dry day,

.....I can't sing like Carly Simon, but imagaine "Anticipation"....
Well Jeanny, you're just going to have to get those vocal chords in shape. I can't sing either (all the dogs in the neighborhood bark if I even think of uttering a note) but I sure do a lot of the anticipation.
disneygal58 - please be really careful when you try to get rid of those fleas, especially if you have to give them a pill. Just got an email from another bbs which really tore me up when it described giving a pill to a cat (something about bandages, new drapes, and hospital visits). Wish I could post it but it's way too long to put here but if you have had a cat for any length of time, you know what I mean.
I am leaving for Florida this afternoon and will be in Orlando tomorrow. Staying OS at my TS @ HGVC outside of Seaworld. Only getting to go to WDW for one day but do have a Character Breakfast scheduled at Chef Mickey's for DW, and my two grandchildren. Have to leave for Jacksonville for a wedding on Friday morning. Well it did get me to Florida for a few days and to WDW for one! Any excuse!!!!!
I'll check back when I get back (unless I'm lucky enough to get free internet connection when I get to Orlando or Jacksonville.) Have a great day to all!

We are very excited about this trip. It will end up being a 3 week vacation for us - never had that before. We will leave on the 20th of December to head for PA to stay with my sister and then the four of us will leave on the 26th for WDW followed by the 1/3 cruise. Can't believe we are doing this! On top of that right now the wife and I are looking into purchasing our first home - this is a very exciting year for us.

HAPPY 190 DAYS!
LVTravel,
We were at Magic Kingdom/EPCOT yesterday and were amazed by the crowds. I thought the projected attendance was going to be down since they were offering 7 nights for the price of 4 during the balance of the summer! I hope you enjoyed your brief time in the World.
MissouriDisneyFans,
How exciting - a three week vacation and your first home!
We're still dealing with fleas, but the sun is out and I was offered the job in Melbourne (less than a half hour from Port Canaveral). So, life is looking up.
Have a good weekend - to those of you that work traditional hours (my weekend actually begins on Tuesday),

Hi All!! This is my first post and my first Disney cruise. Just found this board a couple of days ago. Will be there on Jan. 3, 2004 with my DH, DD 15 and DS 4. Any teens out there? DisneyGal 58, I am writing this from my hotel room in Jacksonville 2 days after the amazing 1 day in WDW. Had a great time there and the crowd wasn't too bad. Most lines were about an hour long but my DGS wanted to go on Star Tours for the first time and we walked right on. No line at all.
JTORREY There will be plenty for you DD & DS to do on the cruise as well as your DH also.
Did the Soft opening of Diamond Horseshoe. Was not impressed. The female singer (can't think of her name) was good but unless you are really into country and/or line dancing it just doesn't do it for me to see Goofy, Woody, Jessie, and (ouch, I can't think of Woody's horse's name) ..... trying to teach a lot of kids how to line dance. Mostly it was mingling with the kids and they were having a good time in the middle of the dance floor.
Was wondering if anyone out there knows anyone who drives around in a grey minivan with black outlines of Mickey and Minnie on the back windows. Female driver. Couldn't get the tags. They are so much M & M fans since they also had many M & M on the dash. Saw the van at the entrance to Downtown Disney on Wednesday nite.
Got to go now. See ya all on the 3rd of January (at least in the line to get on the ship) at a big DIS meet.

HAPPY 4th OF JULY,
I hope you have a safe and festive holiday! Just 26 weeks until we prepare to sail.
I am accepting a job in Melbourne - less than a half hour to the Port and will begin working there in a week and a half. Next week I am searching for a temporary rental to act as home while I am researching neighborhoods - any pixie dust blown my way will be appreciated.
Till Next Time,

Brack Welcome to the cruise. I see that this is your third on the Magic. Great. Do you have the same cabin for the Back-to-Back cruises? This is my 3rd DCL cruise but only the 1st on the Magic. Obviously the other two cruises were on the Wonder. We had fun then and we WILL have fun in the future.
disneygal58 How's looking for the new house? I've tried to send some pixie dust on to you in Fla. but it keeps getting blown back my way. If I am not mistaken, you should have started the new job now. Hope it is everything and more than you looked for in the change.

HELLO ALL!
If I am correct, this is our 150 day countdown! I finally moved into the rental two days ago (thanks for all of the pixie dust, LVTravel and well wishes, Jeanny) and this is my first chance to get to the computer. I have been at the new job for three weeks, am in the process of helping to pack up DD Meagan for Western Colorado State and unpacking our lives here on the East Coast (yeah) of Florida. The best part of all of this is - each Sunday morning I can hop on A1A (a mile from our new "home") and travel the half hour to get a glimpse of the Wonder.(The ocean view isn't too shabby either). Heaven.
I hope this finds everyone well and if there is anything that I can do for you at this end, don't hesitate to ask.
Take care and keep the countdown alive,
Dawn Hope

Disneygal58, I am so glad that you found a place to stay for your new job. Are you still looking for a more permanent home to replace your rental? Hope your new 3 week old job is going great. I don't believe you stated earlier, but with your DD going off to college are there any more little Hopes around the house? Our only son (the DS with the two DGC & his DW) moved out a number of years ago to start his own family. Was so lonely that we ended up taking over my mother's house and she now lives with us (86 years young and counting and she is the 4th generation in our group on this cruise).
I have booked our airfare for the 7 of us to arrive the day before at Orlando airport, reserved two suites at the Embassy suites at the airport (free booze the night before sailing works great for my DW. One cruise she got soooo sick she didn't drink any more for the first 5 nights of the cruise. Cheapest bar bill I have ever had on a cruise.) Then a free, full cooked to order breakfast before getting in our shuttle van to arrive at the ship at 11:45 AM. Just in time to wait to check in and board.
Planning has been fun but I CAN'T WAIT FOR JANUARY!!!!!!!
Jeanny
08-05-2003, 07:02 PM
Hey Dawn~ glad you're settling in and hope our pixie dust continues to help.
LVT, we're thinking of staying at the Hyatt the night before... Right now, we're looking at taking an 8pm flight out of Boston... and arriving around 11pm, walking over to the Hyatt and getting up early on Saturday for the DCL bus. Where are the Embassy Suites? I'll have to get Dave's site out again... I figured on staying at the Hyatt for convenience.
Once SWA comes out with their January schedules and prices, our plans may change... I'd much rather fly out of Providence, but right now, they don't have any direct flights... used to be tons, now I guess SWA is the only one flying direct.
LVTravel
08-05-2003, 07:46 PM
Jeanny,
The Embassy Suites is about 1 mile from the airport and they provide a courtesy shuttle from the airport to the hotel. We arrive at 12:53 PM from our flight
I am not using the DCL transport but have booked with Basik Shuttle. I realize that we will miss out on the fun of the DCL shuttle however. (With my fireman's discount am paying $25.00 per person RT, door to ship and ship to airport.) Pick up at the hotel at 11:15. (oops my previous post said I would arrive at the ship at 11:45. They better drive fast. Guess we will be getting there about 12:15. Oh, well, the ship will still be serving food.)
The main reason we stay at the Embassy Suites is that we have Hilton Honors points and the stay doesn't cost anything for us. Coming from Maryland in January, I definately want to be in Florida at least 1 day before the cruise. If the planes are grounded, I still have time to drive there.
Come on January!
Jeanny
08-05-2003, 08:42 PM
I know what you mean about arriving the day before, although I wouldn't be able to drive in one day... Last year when we were leaving from PVD the day before Thanksgiving for WDW, we left in the middle of a snowstorm... delay, deice, delay, deice again...and again.
So this January, I'm not going to take any chance with Mother Nature.
We're using the DCL transportation, I wanted to get a towncar, but my daughter wants to go on the bus.. she said it's fun and you get to watch the video... she went in Feb 2002, but is letting me totally plan this cruise!!
disneygal58
08-06-2003, 06:38 AM
Hello,
Fortunately I do have one daughter left at home. She's 18 and is taking this year in between high school and college to work full time and figure out what she wants to major in next year. When she was in the first grade, she stated that the two of us would always live together and one day become little old ladies pushing each other's wheelchairs around - I have reminded her of this promise. She doesn't think it would hold up in court. Having been a single mom since they were quite small, I am not looking forward to the empty nest days.
The DCL bus is fun to experience. Still, in the end it doesn't matter how you get there. We've stayed at the Radisson at the Port. It's a fine hotel with a view of the ship. Of course, Embassy Suites are great properties. Will you spend any time at the "World" prior to cruise day?
Take care,
Dawn

disneygal58,
Sorry to say that my DS & DD-I-L can't take any more than one week off from work to go. Also, the grandkids need to get back to school since they will also miss the 1st week back from Xmas vacation.
I would have liked to use the DCL bus but finances at this time do not permit the increased cost (I'm paying for the entire trip for all 7 of us, including airfare.) We did discuss coming down a day or two early to visit Mickey but since the kids couldn't get away, I guess the DW & I will have to come down later in the spring. Maybe we can all get together then at WDW for a mini-DIS meet.
Until later - "May all your wishes come true!"

Well, Southwest finally listed the airfares & schedules for January, so we booked our airfare last night.
We're flying out of Providence Friday afternoon (Jan 2) and get into Orlando around 7:50 p.m. Airfare was $210 each, not a bad price. I checked Boston-it's been $205, but if we left from BOS, we'd have to drive up there and pay their parking fee's. At least in Providence, it's a quick bus ride from Foxboro or we could drive down & leave the car in their lot, A LOT cheaper than BOS.
As I posted before, I'm not taking any chances with Mother Nature... I was going to book through DU, but they can't guarantee a non stop flight (which Southwest is the only non stop airline out of PVD now) and they couldn't guarantee the times or the airline I wanted, we'd be at their mercy.
And now instead of staying at the Hyatt at the airport, Jacqui wants to find out info about Residence Inn, she has rewards there, and uses them in her office, so she may be able to arrange some sort of deal. I know it's off site from the airport, but only a short shuttle.
It's getting closer every day!!!:teeth:

Howdy y'all! We will be joining you on the cruise-- DH, DD (20), DD (18) and I. We are using our DVC points for the cruise and so are getting two inside staterooms. We went on a 4 day cruise a couple of years ago and were all crammed into a deluxe inside! This time we determined that we would need two bathrooms more than a verandah!
We are really looking forward to this cruise. We bought the girls fancy eating dresses already. They were great prices, but now I am worried that the girls will freeze to death in those sleeveless things! Oh, well if that is all there is to worry about than life is good!

Jeanny, Glad you made your airline reservations. Not a bad price at all. Are you still using the DCL bus to the terminal or have you made other arrangements? Yes, it is getting close.....
sandiedvc (Kathy), Welcome to the group. I was going to make a smart remark about what does the dress eat but I thought better of it. (Have them take a wrap to the restaurant to cover their shoulders if they get cold. The restaurants can get cool.)

LVT~ as of right now, yes, we are still using DCL transportation. Jacqui still wants to see the video, her 2nd cruise, my first ever.... She didn't have a chance to find out anything about Residence Inn today, but we have a little bit of time to make arrangements... We'll probably just take their shuttle back and forth to the airport and hook up with DCL early Saturday morning!!
welcome Sandiedvc!! You'll learn A LOT here.

brack , glad you are able to stay in the same cabin. Saves on having to transport luggage. I guess they will check you in on both cruises when you check in for the first one. Since I've never been able to take the time for 14 days on a boat, I really don't know how they do it.
I'll bet that it will really be interesting to be on there without any others other than CMs. At least you will have the run of the ship.
It's a little early to plan a DIS meet on board but I have already warned my wife that people are going to be walking up to her and introducing themselves especially if we do get the shirts done for the cruise (from one of the first posts this thread).

sandiedvc,
I travel with two teenaged girls - you will appreciate the extra bathroom! I swear by the over the door shoeholder while traveling. It frees up counter space and doesn't slide if the ship gets rocking.
All of the public spaces are very air conditioned. Sweaters or shawls come in handy during dinner or at the shows.
We're almost at the twenty week countdown. Once Labor Day comes and goes, life seems to enter warp speed. January will be here before we know it.

I had to drive my daughter Meagan to MCO this morning - she's moving into her dorm at Western Colorado State. Hello fellow cruisers. I'm posting for two reasons. One is to bump this thread back to the top! I found it deep into the other threads. The second is to tell you about a website by someone on this board. His name is Veranda Man. He is going on a cruise this week and has done a lot of work to get others who have posted on this board to meet up on the cruise. It is way cool. Check out the web site and see if you are interested in doing something similiar for our cruise.

As the time draws nearer we should difinitely plan some type of meet. I have participated in get togethers at the Radisson the night prior, at a designated point in between the drill and sailaway party. Brunch at Palo could be fun....
Verandah Man is an amazing individual. If anyone would like to volunteer to keep track of everyone, please step up. I wouldn't mind making name tags for the group.

If you want to have name, email, city or whatever send it to my e-mail address MICanMIN@aol.com . Also, any pictures have to be less than 2mb's. Smaller would be better (1mb or less)
Let me know. I am going to spend more time on it this weekend before I go out of town for a few days.

Just back from Labor day retreat. Found this WAY BACK! so here is a bump
OK...here goes my intro:cool:
I (35) will be cruising with my DH (37), DD (10) and DS (9). It will be our first 7-day cruise. We have done four shorter cruises (2 on the Wonder). We are bring DH Dad and Step Mom with. We currently have reservations to stay at Poly Concierge 12-31 thru 1-3. I live for Disney and can't wait to go on a 7-day cruise. We are staying in cabin 8032 with Grandparents on Deck 7 (couldn't justify spending the extra ??? to put 2 people in a Cat 4;) ). We had a verandah on our November cruise and are looking forward to being in a Cat 3. We toured our room before leaving the ship on our 11-02 cruise....WOW...I can't wait. We are so close to a double digit countdown to the cruise!!!
LVTravel...
I went to Brack's web page and saw your granddaughter is 11. My DD will be 10 (almost 11) at cruise time.
I think it would be fun to meet up with a DIS group at some point. My family believes I am Disney obsessed. We traveled with another family in 1999 and I had all of our day planned, PS made and typed out for us before the trip. There is just so much to do I don't want to miss a thing! However, on our July trip I was there on business and did not make a single PS ahead of time:eek: We actually went at a very relaxed pace (it was sooooo hot) and were able to go to Typhoon Lagoon for the first time.
Anyways back to the cruise. Has anyone done the Western itinerary before. What are the must dos, any tips for planning ahead? I'm planning on letting the concierge do our on-board ressies.
See you all soon:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'm still excited, just too busy working late this week... my "kids" are back at school... I work in a college athletic department, so preseason was in full swing last week, and classes began this past Tuesday,,, so I've been busy getting rosters, eligibility forms, etc ready... if I worked 18 hours a day, it still wouldn't be enough.
But in my spare time, I've been busy putting packing lists together... got my birth certificate and putting my info book together, plus buyng memory pages for scrapbooking kit!!!

All of us in my group are excited about going but unfortunately we are sooo busy. Wife working hard every day so we can afford to go and I am doing a lot of instate travelling on one of my jobs so I get to the computer about once a week.
DW & I are also getting ready to go to Las Vegas on a working vacation in less than two weeks. I work while she vacations. I'm going to an EMS conference and she wants to go along for one of her weeks of vacation. (I get to do the same to her in April when she goes to Reno for a conference and I get to do the vacation thing.)
AmyM, I do hope that Meghan & your DD will become friends on the cruise. She didn't want to use the private club for her age group last cruise and wanted to stay with us. I think 11 is about the right age to start giving some independance to a child, especially when they are in a controlled atmosphere like the Oceaneer club and Oceaneer Lab. DCL has some of the greatest child counselors I have ever seen.
Less than 4 months..... Yeah!

Hello All,
I haven't been "visiting" the threads much lately. Due to DD Meagan's schedule, she will have to return to Colorado on Friday the 9th (our Castaway Cay day). Because I love her more than DCL, I have had to cancel (postpone) our voyage. I am not willing to give up the week prior to her return to classes for DCL - as difficult as that is - and the sailing before January 3rd is too cost prohibitive for my family. If DD Erin and I can rebook guilt free (okay, I'm the only one having an issue with this), the two of us will sail sans Meagan in February.
Have a Konch Kooler for me,
Dawn Hope

Sorry to hear that disneygal58! We ran into the same problem with college schedules when dd#2 couldn't decide where to go to college. We booked this cruise with fingers crossed. Luckily she decided on Aggieworld with her sister and A&M coincidentally changed their schedule to give them an extra week off in Jan and we are set! The other holiday times are not in our budget either! Sorry it didn't work out for you. I know how if feels to send your babies off without you (hope my dds don't read this!) and the time we have with them home is to be savored.
Like all, we have been busy here. Got the daughters off to college, recieved our passports (always wanted one), and now starting to pick up the pieces. I thought that I had already planned everything that needed to be planned, but I sat down with my binder that I put everything in and wrote out the schedule.... hotel for dallas... no haven't done that..... car ressies for mco....no, haven't done that.....what to do for shore excursions.... no, haven't done that either!!!! Lots still to do!!!
I now have made most of the ressies off the ship, but we are coming up on the magical 90 day window when I need to decide about trip insurance and shore excursions. Guess I'll need to spend more time on the boards!

Isn't it great.
We are going in less than 100 days. My family is really starting to get excited.
I can't believe that this thread is as dead as it is, however. I guess the boat will really be empty with only a few live wires going.
Lets get the ball rolling and submit those pictures to brack for posting on his great January cruise web page.
We (DW and remaining travellers) just got through hurricane (Isabel) last week with no damage and just a 6 hour power blackout and DW and I got back from a week long convention trip to Las Vegas this morning. Las Vegas is great but I can't wait for the cruise.

how excited am I???? I've already started packing!! I know, I'm sick, but I'll have everything ready!!!
We are getting excited Dmom (me), DD 15 and DS 10. My teen daughter would like to email to any other teens (especially other girls) on the 01-03-03 Western. If you have a teen email me and we can get them acquainted. This will be our second cruise. We did the land/sea summer 2002 - and it was awesome. We just went to the Disney store at the mall today to get that Disney feeling! We have controlled ourselves and haven't actually started packing yet. Someone mentioned a couple posts up that this thread doesn't seem very active and possibly the ship is not full. Let's hope we all get upgrades. We are currently in category 9!

Jeanny, If my DW had her way she would have started packing for the January cruise just after returning from the last one in April. Me, I like to pack the night before (opposites do attract), that way I can buy anything I forget on the ship (sorry for the "slam" but I sound just like a woman).
Actually, she started cruise packing tonight. Got the clothes out from the LV trip and she started reloading the suitcases with "warm weather" clothes and shoes for the cruise.
RKB, I also was hoping for an upgrade, but for my son and family since I had to put them in an inside cabin. I do think that the ship will be full but that people are just not responding to the thread.
jollytammy (NC) and others in the path of Isabel, hope everthing was OK in your area and you are all safe and had no damage.

My daughter was on the Eastern Feb 2002 and she said was nice, but of course, my nephew was totally in the water all day!! Lots of people in the pictures, so I'm hoping it will be the same this coming January..
Anyone thought about which excursions you're doing? the only one I've given any real thought to is in Cozumel... I'm not sure which ruins tour I'd like to go on, or should we just do the beach thing. Jacqui had been to some ruins when she was vacationing in Cancun, but I've never been. Checking out that 7 hour tour. (hope we don't end up on Gilligan's Island) .. I think there is one which is only a 1/2 day, hope that leaves lots of shopping time.

Good luck with the LASIK! I had it done in January 2000 and my eyes and I LOVE it!

Hi all!
I've been lurking on this thread for a while, ever since DH mentioned that he was taking the week of January 3rd off from work and hinted that he wanted to go on another Disney cruise. I emailed the link to this thread to him at work last week, and he emailed me back, "I want to go on this cruise!":Pinkbounc
Well, yesterday, he called our TA, asking him to notify us if FL resident rates become available. I'm hoping they'll be announced next month, and that this cruise will be available. DS (3) asks every day to watch the "Disney boat" video.
So, we're not officially on board, yet, but I'm already getting excited.:hyper:
If all works out, we will be celebrating DH's 39th birthday and DD's 1rst birthday on board! Hope to see you all soon!

jollytammy, just think of all the cool Disney or cruise related gifts you can give the kids for Christmas. Since we are giving the cruise to the son and his family, guess we don't have to give them too much more (but the DW always does anyway).
How many out there have been saving the Disney Dream Dollars from the Disney Credit Card? Got a good supply and just ordered the Disney Rewards card with another $70 on it for use on the cruise. Sure have been using that card a lot. Still haven't paid the final payment for the cruise on it yet. That will be another $45 for the 7 of us.
Can't Wait

Depending on the number of people who want to get together for the meet there are a lot of places on board where the meet could be held without having a lot of non-DISers around.

I was starting to get nervous that I wouldn't be able to get a room there, :crowded: .. Jeanny,
I guess we will have to keep posting about every 6 hours to keep this on the first page.
As I put in an earlier post, we are not going to the port the day before but are staying at the Embassy Suites at the airport and being "vanned" to the ship on the day of sailing. Couldn't pass up the 2 free rooms with free happy hour the night before and free cooked to order breakfast the morning of the cruise.
Those free happy hours can be a real money saver for me. If DW drinks more than 2 glasses of wine she won't be able to drink any more for the first 5 days of the cruise. Proved that on a previous non-Disney cruise. Crawled out of the elevator after only 3 glasses of wine (of course they were only 8-10 oz. glasses). Please don't tell anybody else, lets just keep this a secret, OK?

Jollytammy The countdown I have in my posts is set for 12 noon on the date we sail. Just look at the bottom of the post. (At least I think that is when I set it for).
MarkLem , I was born and raised in Oxford. A small "resort" town on the Eastern Shore. I still reside in the town but in a different house than was the family home. I also spent a year in Dayton Ohio (working for the Defense Electronics Supply Center on Wilmington Pike (no longer there or so I hear) a couple years in DC and a couple in Newport RI while in Navy back in late 60s and early 70s.
Lauretta The ES are located about a mile from the airport. They have a free (tip driver if helps with bags) shuttle from the airport to the hotel. I am not using the DCL transport but have booked with Basik Shuttle (www.basikshuttle.com). I realize that we will miss out on the fun of the DCL shuttle however. (With my fireman's discount am paying $25.00 per person RT, door to ship and ship to airport.) Pick up at the hotel at 11:15. Guess we will be getting there about 12:15.

Hey Lauretta~
If you do stay at the ES, you can shuttle back to the airport in the morning to get the DCL bus.
We're staying right at the airport, so we'll just go downstairs in the morning and take the DCL bus over to the port. I think we have to leave our luggage outside our room by 8 am ish and they'll take it down to the bus for us. next time we see it, it will be in our stateroom (hopefully). The first buses leave around 9:30 or so, once they fill up, so we arrive at the port 10:30 or so..I think it's $46 per person RT, my daughter wants to take the bus again. She had taken it when she went Feb 2002 and said it was fun,... Me, I'd much rather take a towncar, but at least the bus isn't a cramped van like going to the resorts.

jolly tammy, I don't think that it is too early to make the non-Disney shore ressies. I just reserved Capt Marvin's. They sent a reply the next day. They seemed very nice.
On a related note, does anyone know when the shops in Grand Cayman open? Trying to line out our options for the rest of the day there. Has any one seen the blow holes there-- are they worth getting a cab to see?
I don't think that we will book any Disney excursions. We will wander Key West. The must dos for us there include Hemingway's house, the Southernmost Point, and Key Lime Pie. very touristy.
In Cozumel, we are totally open. We are considering Chankanaab on our own and shopping. We probably won't decide til the last minute! I would love to see the Tulum ruins, but my hubbie and girls decided that that would be too much travel time ... Maybe next trip.
Also, another stupid question.... I have been gathering silly little things for the girls (20 and 18) stockings since Santa won't bring anything to adults! I was thinking it would be fun to put a few pesos in the stockings, but when I checked with our bank they said that they would have to order foreign currency and the smallest bill would be the equivalent of a $20 and they would charge me $10 to do that!! Anybody have any other ideas?
Kathy
Kathy,
We are also looking at booking Capt. Marvin's. Key West - deep sea fishing. Cozumel - maybe Mr. Sancho's.
What about getting some Disney Dollars for the stockings?

right there in TEXAS where I got my money for my trip to Africa, they only charged me $20 for $1000 in African money.
I don't remember the name I looked them up on MSN search under curriency exchange.

Even though we weren't planning on booking the Disney excursions, I am having fun just flipping thru the brochure. Who knows, maybe they will talk us into one!
Hope everyone else got theirs today too!

Welcome onboard princessdaisy!!
We have a DD2 who might be a potential play mate for your DS2. We're also flying into Orlando on January 1 and staying for 2 nights at the Marriott Residence Inn at Seaworld...thought we'd show our DD2 some marine life since there's not a whole lot of that out here in Wisconsin. We thought we would give ourselves 2 days to get down to MCO just in case the weather doesn't cooperate!!
We booked a van with Cartier Town Car for all our transfers since we're bringing my parents as well.

Rachael, in re-reading your post from the 31st, you sure are racking up those frequent flyer miles. I guess you can't make it a 7 week vacation huh? I would hate to have to "double back" on the flights like that.
Jeanny, I agree with the Sunday morning meet on Deck 9. Will someone bang on my door to wake me up though, I wouldn't want to miss it. As they say, opposites attract. I'm a night person while the DW is a morning person.
EMAILS
If all want I can set up the database for children. I have set up a special email account jancruise@dmv.com. If you will email first and last name, age, cabin & email address (if you want to receive emails from others directly), I will hold all information until the meet on the day after sailing. It will not be posted on a web site. If you want a completed copy for emailing back and forth specify in your email.

I believe we arrived into the Orlando Airport about 4:30pm but not sure will have to check out my ticket for exact time. I bought these tickets when they had a cheap price and that was in July. Haven't really looked at the tickets sense then, they are at the travel agency, plus I think I have had a schedule change or two. But I am pretty sure the time is very close. We ought to try to meet for some wine or something if you don't have "jet-lag" too bad:crazy: . Once we get checked into the hotel and straighten out our clothes we head across the way to the Disney Store at the airport. Nothing like having Disney on the Brain:p . Even though you get in so late still call so we can all get together for breakfast at the ES before we all have to leave to go to the ship. I'll probably still be up and won't mind the call. Brack, looks great. One suggestion however. If you reduce the pixel count on the images to 72 dpi and leave them the same dimension they will load much faster and still not lose resolution on the web page. The first page of pictures took almost 7 minutes at 53kbps to load on my dial-up computer.
The picture at http://hometown.aol.com/majorbrack/images/allwdw.jpg is 285K + in size. My picture that I sent (the 4 of us) is only 45K in size and just about the same physical size on screen.
Use a paint program (I use Jasc's Paint Shop Pro (free trial download)) and resized the image to 4" X 2.788" @ 72 dpi and it is only 22K in size. Will load much faster.
All the best to you and Only 54 days to Go!!

We'll see you at Mr Sancho's. I hope a Sunday meet is still on. Anybody else interested?

yep, the Sunday meet is still on...
I'm assuming seeing as we're going in January, that we may not be able to meet outside on deck 9, so how about meeting at maybe the Cove?? Do they allow children in there?? we'll figure out a time soon. Maybe Diversions?? They may allow children... my daughter is 25, but I know many of our group have younger children, who may want to come too.
I'm going to PM a few of my friends, two who have cruised recently and one who will be going in December for some suggestions...and I'll get back with everyone soon..
So sorry for my delay in replying...we've been SO busy I'm never online anymore!
My 12 year old is a young 12 year old (innocent, naive?), and does fine with younger children. She's also a very quiet/shy kid with strangers...although watch out when she's around her siblings! As the youngest of 10, she has to be TOUGH to survive! LOL
Tell your granddaughter she can write to her at TheHouseHouse@aol.com, and I'll make sure she replies!
Jo, I used to live in Trappe but in Maryland not PA. One of my grandchildren on the cruise DGD is 11. How's your 12 yo handle someone a year younger? Get along OK? She is a little shy and trying to get her to come out of her shell a little.

We may just be able to meet outside depending on what time of morning we meet. I live in Naples, Florida and we were outside fairly early Christmas morning last year in tee shirts so my son could ride his christmas present. And we all spent last New Year's Eve outside on our friend's lanai until very late in the morning, so hopefully we'll have the same weather that morning in Key West. I don't think that kis are allowed in The Cove, so that probably won't work.
Anybody else staying at the Radisson at the Port the night prior to the cruise?

:bounce: I can not believe it! I just check Dis Cruise website and punched in out Jan 3 date, people traveling and Cat 11# and the rate has dropped $200.00!! I called my travel agent and she thought I had made some kind of mistake...but nooooo, it is true and now I have an extra 200.00 to spend on extras at the ports :D
Just an FYI in case you guys want to check you Cat #'s! Good Luck!!

Hey Carolyn~
Ann is going on the 12/13 cruise and will check out Diversions for us as an alternate meeting place.. We can still plan on meeting on deck 9 and if the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll plan on Diversions, how does that sound??

Wow, what a rate drop! We are now within the 60 window. I wonder if a lot of people cancelled? Just for grins, I checked the Travelocity room availability tonight. I had checked the availability on Tues, 11/11 and there is a lot of difference in the number and types of rooms available. (Note: if Travelocity shows that there are 7 rooms available in a category, it means that there are *at least* 7 rooms available. 7 room numbers is the most it will show.) The table-ish type thing below (not sure how to format here) will show the category, availability on Tues and then number of rooms available Thursday (tonight).
Cat 11 GTY GTY
Cat 10 6 GTY (big change)
Cat 9 7 7 (same)
Cat 8 GTY 1
Cat 7 7 7
Cat 6 7 7
Cat 5 7 7
Cat 4 GTY 7 (big change- sent back by travel agents?)
As you can see there is still there is still a lot of availability in Cat 7 and up. (I just checked the table in preview and it is kinda hard to understand. Sorry!)
I would be willing to take one of those verandahs off their hands and let someone else have those scarce Cat 11s I have booked!!!!

Jeanny, that sounds great, what a great idea. I bet you're looking forward to some warm weather again. Boy it sure looks cold up there today! We had a cold front move through, but it's going to be 78 today. by the weekend it should warm up. I can always keep everyone updated on the weather down here right before the cruise if anyone is interested. One thing I'm looking forward to is Key West being cooler this time around, it was downright unbearable on our June cruise.

You got it Stephanie! My family wears shorts all year long actually, we'll just add long sleeve tees and a sweatshirt if we need it. I'll just keep everyone updated on how it is in Naples and that will give us an idea for Key West and Castaway Cay at least. Port Canaveral can actually be a lot colder than here during the winter months as can Orlando. I'll update periodically.

Hey there Jeanny,
The weather has been perfect down here, around 82 and sunny with no humidity and gentle breezes. We all suffer through the summer (somewhat) to enjoy this weather! My daughter was up at Disney this past weekend with a friend and her family, and they couldn't believe how much cooler it was up there.
Have you gotten all of your plans set for the cruise?

I have tried to shop and have gotten some things! But I keep reading the "lists" of what to take, and I keep seeing more "things" I may need!!!
This is our first cruise, and can hardly wait.
We paid off our balance last week, wow was that hard!
Has everyone already made their reserverations for stingray city? Who have you made your reservations with?
Hope to meet you all soon!

I too have some shopping to do before the cruise. There are some good deals on clothes in the Disney catalog online.
Also, there is a new deal out on rooms at WDW. The moderate resorts are on discount in January. I just changed our All Star Music before the cruise to Coronado Springs and our Pop Century after the cruise to the Carribean Beach (King bed) ALL FOR THE SAME PRICE!! If you did not get a card in the mail ask for discount BCB.
Today we are planning our excursions so I hope to have that out of the way.
It's getting close and we are excited. I wanted to pack but my wife want let me. See you soon. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

The card was an ad from WDW. It said the deal was for the moderate price resorts but when I called, the cast member was going to give me a lower price on the AllStar Music ($55 instead on the $85 I had booked for) before I metioned that I wanted to switch to a moderate.
I say call them because all they do is say yes or no. Can't know without asking. Good luck.

Amy, there is just no better way to get out of the "I don't feel good" times than receiving those cruise docs.
Tammy, just wait till you see the new clothes that our family will receive this Christmas. We are going to wear them at cruise check-in (if our docs arrive.)
Brack, if my docs don't arrive by Monday, I am going to burn up some phone lines between here and my TA.
Daisy, if you think your docs have to travel far, mine has to go from Disney to Nevada and then back to Maryland. Go figure. Normally I get them 36 days or so before the cruise and since we have 36 Days To Go I should get them tomorrow.
Hope all are having a happy Thanksgiving Drive safely during the holiday season so that all can enjoy Christmas and then the Disney Cruise Lines!

this is my first post here & i am happy to say that i (along with 31 of my family members and friends) will be joining you on the january 3rd cruise!! :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:
we too are counting down the days and can't wait.
i do have one question for people who have kids. i have been on the cruise before, but my son has never been old enough to do any of the kids activities. my question is this, my son is almost 4 years old, has down syndrome, and is not potty trained completely, will he be unable to do any activities in the oceaneers club because he isn't potty trained? we don't want him to go for a full day or anything, just maybe an hour or so of activities/crafts on the days at sea. we really try to include him in as many activities with other kids as we can so he can have a chance to socialize and "be a kid". anyone have any experience with this?? any advice would be greatly appreciated.:teeth:
