I wrote a week or so ago about this. Now I'm curious what you would do at this point.

We won an auction a few weeks ago. The seller only accepted cashier's checks/money orders. Auction was won on a monday night, got check on tuesday, out in the mail on wednesday. Wrote numerous e-mails to seller because a week later I didn't hear anything. Finally last friday, over a week after the check was mailed, I sent yet another e-mail, this time saying I wanted to hear something by the next day. Got a prompt reply stating that the check had been received monday, the book went out on wednesday. Over a week ago.

Well, where is it??? Its thursday now...8 days later. 1 book, paperback, charged $4.50 for s/h. She only lives 2 states over. I've e-mailed her again and am not getting any replies. She never stated HOW she sent it.

What would you do?

From personal experience I wouldn't jump the gun just yet. I had bought a poster that was shipped out Feb. 10 and I didn't get it until Feb. 24. Other than that everything I have purchased has gotten to me really quickly. I wouldn't wait more than 2 weeks though.

thanks. I guess what annoys me most is the lack of communication. I'll wait another week and see.

I've bought books before on Ebay. Most sellers send the books "book rate" which can take 2 - 3 weeks for delivery. It is much slower than sending it first class or priority mail. The seller may have shipped it book rate and if so it could be a couple more weeks before your receive it. I always make sure when I buy something, that I know their shipping method beforehand so I can have a general idea when to expect it.

I wish I had asked beforehand! I was surprised at how high the shipping was so if its bookrate I'll be really annoyed. Probably is.

just double checked the auction page for details. this was under shipping:

Quote:

Please add $4.50 for packaging, shipping and conformation costs . I only ship USA. IF YOU ARE NOT A USA RESIDENT,DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM. I only accept money orders (no personal or company checks please

I assume she means confirmation, so wouldn't that mean she would have a number she could give me?

Yup....if confirmation means delivery confirmation than she would have a number that you can ask her for to check on.

Oh...and I would never pay for an item until I hear from the person first. I can't tell if you heard from the person before you sent payment (I would assume you did if you had the addy) but I wasn't sure.

My husband is having the opposite problem.... he sold something and never got the $$ from the guy. Emailed him numerous times and NOTHING. He finally contacted Ebay and I think they sent an email to the guy. Still nothing. Looks like he has to put the item back up for bid.

I hope you get your book!

Unfortunately I got the automated response from ebay that had her information on it. I did e-mail her immediately, but didn't hear back after several e-mails until last friday when I said I wanted to hear from her tomorrow.

We've only done business on ebay a handful of times, but everytime whether selling or buying has been a great experience. No lack of communication like this has been. I e-mailed her yesterday asking for more info...how it shipped, confirmation number, etc. but haven't heard back. Guess I'll give it one more day before I e-mail again.

Is the winter weather across the country holding up shipment?

I guess it could be. Although my dh regularly gets shipments from her area.

Its the poor communication that annoys me most.

Let me tell you what I did to someone who did not pay or answer emails,I was a real pain in the behind!!! I sent her so many emails EVERY day,I admit I harrassed the heck out of this
buyer. I watched what she bought and when she bought items and contacted the eBayers she was buying from. One day,I sent her 30 emails!!!! Finally, she emailed me and told me she'd send the money,if I stop bugging her!!!!! I told her as soon as I got the $$ the emails would stop. 3 days later,my money order arrived! Now,it was winter and I had lots of time on my hands so I was able to be a royal pest. I just got so mad!

you know, before I heard from her the first (and only!) time, I sent her 5 e-mails in 7 days. Then I checked her feedback, which was great, and e-mailed a few of the people she'd done business with recently. They all said she communicated great!

Ahh the confusion! and why me?

I just did a check on usps.com. Priority mail for a one pound package is $3.85, media mail $1.42. I can understand overcharging a little for shipping, but there's a big difference between shipping Priority Mail and shipping book rate.

Airhead, I had a similar problem buyer a few months ago. They bid on and won my auction, but I never heard anything from them regarding payment. I checked their feedback (only 3 at the time) and I didn't see any negatives. Then I clicked on the most recent auction they'd won.

It was for the exact same item sold by another person. Apparently they bid on the other one before bidding on mine. Here's the REALLY weird thing. Despite the fact that my auction ended first AND ended a few dollars less than the other auction, they honored the other auction but chose to ignore mine.
