Hey Gretel!!!!

I can't believe we will be on the same cruise again! I think albiats is also registered for this one too!!

I just got home last night from a Royal Caribbean (Voyager) cruise with my husband;) and all I could think about was our cruise next year with the kids on the MAGIC!!! So I decided to check the DIS for the first time in a while and I find you...again!! i guess this cold mn weather is getting to all of us!!

My DH and DS (4) will be joining us this time as well as my mother and DDs (10 and 7).

How in the world are we going to get through the next 10 months??

So do you guys have kids and if you do what are their ages.
My DD will be 12 on Jan 17,2004 and my DS will be 10 by the time the cruise comes. I can't wait- it's too far away. I hate wishing my life away so we can go on this cruise- my familys 1st Disney cruise

We're going too!!! Our 1st cruise. Me, DH, DD(11),and DS(9) As you may have noticed, I started a thread to let others know of a deal with another TA that was much less then I'd seen elsewhere, and it has snowballed into so much more. Is this the start of some sort of Dis Meet?

Mark & Sandra- So happy to see other kids my kids ages from the DIS boards will be on the cruise!!!!
We will have to compare notes as the time drags till then!!! We got a great deal with Costco otherwise AllSeasons was looking good too.

Hello singitalto- We're also neighbors. We're in Ronkonkoma. DH used to work in Deer Park, on Brook ave. off Bayshore rd. Are you flying out of MacArthur ? We haven't decided if we will fly in on Sat. and go to the Port or fly in on Fri. and get a room near the Port. The weather in Jan. is so unpredictable that I don't want to risk missing our cruise.

singitalto
03-05-2003, 06:17 PM
Wow- What a small world. Right now we haven't made our flight plans(which is kinda ok with me cause I really don't like flying any way) But we will definately be flying out of MacArthur- so much easier that the other two airports. I am hoping that we can spend some time at WDW- like 3 days before the cruise and then move over to a hotel the night before.

I agree about the weather- I don't want to take a chance either, better to be safe then sorry.

I soooooooo can't wait, if you guys don't mind me asking where are your rooms? We are on Deck 6- room 6548.(A realllllll Splurge for us):Pinkbounc

Wow- when we booked back in November I figured mid/forward ship was best???? I have been torn about changing it to an aft room(was looking at 6108 back then) Aft rooms are so much closer to pool, Topsiders etc. I just hope I don't regret picking the room I did.

Before we booked with AllSeasons we had a quote from DreamsUnlimited and the room they held for us was 6108. We thought it would be a good location, so we asked AllSeasons for a room close to it and they gave us the room next door.

MNmom
03-07-2003, 04:23 PM
We decided to go toward the aft too. Just switched our connecting rooms to 6604 and 6606. I think we will put grandma and the kids (DS3, DD7,DD11) in the one that sleeps 4 and leave the other one for DH and myself;)

Can't wait!!

Our family will be first time cruisers on the 1/17/04 7 day western cruise. I just discovered this discussion website and am already gaining a ton of knowledge. My husband and I will be travelling with our four sons (5,7,9,10), our neice (8) and my Mom. We booked Category 11 rooms 6055 and 6053. We are not planning on being in our rooms too much, so hopefully won't be regretting booking a higher category. CAn't wait!!!:bounce:

I've been watching and waiting for our date to show up on a thread!

We're on Jan 17th. First timers!

We have two DS (4 and 6). I cannot wait! This winter in PA has been simply awful! Too much snow and not enough warmth.

DCL here we come...

We're from the currently cold and still-snow covered part of Harrisburg! Although I consider Lancaster home for me....that's where I grew up. Are you from PA??

Yesterday and today are finally getting spring like. If next winter is like this one, I'm sure I'll try to talk my DH into another cruise REAL SOON!!!

Hi everyone -

My DW and I are booked for this cruise too, we'll be celebrating our 34th Wedding Anniversary on the 20th while onboard.

We are having second thoughts about it though. Along with several others here, we were on the 1/19/02 Eastern Cruise and we both really really enjoyed it. We both liked the days at Sea and we enjoyed St Martin and St Thomas very much.

Before DCL announced they were going to start doing a Western route, we went on a Western Caribbean cruise aboard a Carnival Fun Ship in early 2001. The ship wasn't nearly as enjoyable as the Magic but the destinations were the same, in most cases, and we enjoyed them.

Since either route would technically be a repeat cruise for us, I'm starting to lean towards repeating the eastern route first, which would require us to change the date we cruise.

For now, we're still planning to enjoy the Western cruise on 1/17/04.

P.S. - Oh yeah, no grand kids or DD or SIL this time, just us.

Hey jmunutt-- that is great!!! Can't wait to hook up with everyone again.

I hope everyone is getting excited!! 8 MONTHS FROM TODAY!!!

Is there such a thing as an 8 month happy dance;)

I also wanted to remind everyone to sign-up on the Unofficial Cruise List. I think it is at the top of this board listed as "who's sailing with us". We are getting quite a group together. Should make for a fun DIS meet and lots of laughs around the ship. I promise I won't get suckered into the Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive" lip sync contest:eek: (It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't met all the DISers at the meet- otherwise I wouldn't have known anyone in the audience.) Needless to say, I heard about my second place finish the rest of the week.

Hi everyone!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Radisson has opened their dates for Jan. I have been checking their website for quite a while and they were not taking ressies yet. Last night I got on and booked a 1 bedroom whirlpool suite for 119.00 the night before our cruise. I think this is pretty good since we have 3 adults and 3 kids and we were planning on booking 2 rooms. However, this suite sleeps 6!! We saved a whole room!!! I also think they have a AAA rate of 109.00 for this room too!! SOrry I don't know the rate for the standard rooms.

Would love to meet up with some of you the night before the cruise at the pool!! We did this on our last cruise and had a great time. The infamous Shirley from The Perfect Gift even came to meet us!! Thanx for the treats, SHirley;)

This is a great way to start a fantastic cruise week. It is nice to meet some people before and put faces to all the screen names!!

Another Pennsylvania family (outside Pittsburgh) getting away from the cold and snow! Second cruise for us, did the Eastern 7 day in Aug. 2001. Sailing will be my DS (I assume that is son) 13, and DD 9. As a special surprise I booked a cabin for my parents who are in their mid 70's. Will be my dad's first cruise! We have two cabins on deck 7 ( I don't have the room numbers availble). Will be coming in a day early so if there is a "get together" at the Radisson, let me know. Also, if there are any teens or kids around 9 for my daughter to hang out with, let me know!

We are booked on this cruise. We have two daughters, one will turn 7 on the cruise and the other will be 10. This will be our third Disney Cruise but our first Western.

We plan to arrive in Orlando a day early. I noticed some comments about the Radison. Is it recommended?

MNmom
07-24-2003, 06:21 PM
Hey FabFam4-

My DDs are 7 and 10 too!! We have been on the Magic once in 2002 with just the girs (Nana too) and this time we are bringing my DH and DS (4). We should definitely hook up.

I have stayed at the Radisson twice and are planning on staying there again this Jan. It has a great pool/hot tub area and it is always nice to meet others headed for the Magic the night before the cruise. We had about 15 of us last time and even had the pleasure of meeting Shirley from "THe Perfect Gift". The standard rooms are very basic but the 1 Bedroom Jacuzzi Suites are very nice. There are 2 king beds and a corner Jacuzzi in the bedroom and a nice sitting area with a kitchenette (micro/fridge/sink/table). We were so glad to have these rooms sleep 6 so we didn't have to book 2 rooms. We also got this room for only 119.00. I have heard others getting it for 109.00 with AAA. Not bad.

I am sure a group of us from this thread will be getting together the night before and you are welcome to join us. It is always nice for the kids to meet and then see some familiar faces once they are on the ship!

Have fun planning... I know we are:cool:

Hey fellow 1/17 cruisers!!

There are some newcomers to our cruise that I wanted to connect to our group. I am sure most of us are very busy with our summer schedules and some of you may even be getting ready to get the kids back to school soon. But this cruise is coming up very fast!!! In a few days we will be under 5 months to go. Sounds like a long time but with school starting and then the holidays it will be here before you know it.

Welcome new 2/17 cruisers. Please introduce yourselves.

We should start thinking about meeting up at the Radisson the night of the 16th and one or two times while we are on board. Any thoughts on that??!

SHould be a lot of fun for the kids and for the adults too!! THere is also a free shuttle to the ship in the morning. We have stayed there twice before and it has always been very nice.

Brandi-

We picked up our paint swatches a few months ago but I didn't know which color to get....so I got both!!! We have Sonic Boom and Gamma Sector Green. I have heard people making name tags by writing their names on the swatches and them have them laminated. I don't know if I am that "crafty" so we will probably just put holes into them and tie them to our luggage and carry ons.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for these very cute Mickey-head paint swatches (available at Home Depot!!) ?

Currently we are booked to stay in Orlando on the night of the 16th and then taking a tiffany limo to the Port on the 17th. Should we just go to a motel on the Port the night before? What is so special about the Raddison? What other hotels are close and good?

mark & sandra
08-24-2003, 11:57 PM
Since it's our first cruise, I can't tell you why the Radisson is so appealing other then meeting up with some fellow cruisers the night before. It seems nice to be able to recognize some faces on the ship during your cruise, and to have the kids make a few friends before the cruise so they can already have some friends in the kids clubs.

MNmom
08-25-2003, 12:58 AM
I totally agree with mark & sandra!! It is great to meet fellow cruisers the night before. It is kind of like starting your vacation a day earlier and it is so nice to bump into each other on the ship and see a familiar face.

I also think it depends on what time you are arriving in Orlando. If you have a late flight(after dinner) then I thing getting to a hotel close by the airport for a good night sleep is a good idea. But if you are coming in earlier in the day then making the drive to the port and enjoying Cocoa Beach/ Ron Jon's/ or the Radisson pool is very nice too.

The Radisson is only about 1mile from the ship and has complimentary van service. There are some other threads on these boards about the Radisson (some good and some bad). We have stayed there twice and have had great rooms (2 kings and a jacuzzi in the bedroom and a pull out couch in the living room) and we love to hang out at the pool the night before and meet others headed to the cruise the next morning!!

GRETEL--where are you??? Have you taken the summer off?? We hope to hear from you soon. The kids will be back to school in a week and then it is time to start some serious planning!!!

****If anyone has a 9-13 year old that is interested in emailing my DD please PM me. She has sent out a few emails(carolsherman/mark&sandra) and would love to get to know other pre-teens going on our cruise.

Hi all!
We are newbies to the DISboards. We are the friends of KlineyQueen. We have 3 DDs, DD3, DD8 and DD11. We have been on other cruises but this will be our first Disney cruise. We are all excited! We never expected to book a cruise this year - funny what happens at music lessons sometimes (right KlineyQueen)! Our girls would love to hear from other DDs that will be joining us on the cruise. We'll be staying at the Wyndham Orlando Resort the night before. Anyone have any feedback on this property? Look forward to hearing from y'all.

Our family is also going 1-17-04 on our second disney cruise. I am really enjoying reading all the info on this board. Our group consists of myself, my DH, DS13, DD12, DS9, DD7, my mom, my best friend and her mom. Last time we all went except this is the first time for my friend's mom. I agree that it would be nice if the kids would meet new friends online before the cruise. An e-mail pen pal would only add to the excitement.

Is anyone staying on Disney property before leaving? We are staying at Carribbean Beach Resort. Thought that would make us feel like we were already on the cruise!

I am so excited to know many of you have kids that are our kids ages(yes I miss typed names instead of ages last time. No wonder no one replied). In our neighborhood we have many kids that are the same age as our kids. The exception is for our dd who will turn five 1/2/04. How many of you have dd's or ds's that age? Our dd 5 never seems to get to have "her own friends."

I am at the hospital with my best friend who has asked me to participate in the birth of her 3rd baby!!! We have been here most of the evening and still have a few hours to go! I have been thinking about the cruise all day and just found the computer in the Family Waiting Lounge. So here I am.....

We booked Captain Marvins Stingray City Tour --the 11:15 trip. Anyone else book any excursions yet??

We're getting close!!!

Hi Folks-

I don't know about yours but our family is getting very excited for this cruise. My girls made a paper chain with 100 rings on it and they are going to start today taking one ring off each day. THat means we have 100 DAYS until we leave for our cruise!!!

Where is everybody?? We have 21 families signed up for this cruise through the DIS (one of the largest!!). I have been seeing a lot of posts from the 1/10 and the 1/24 cruises and think it is our turn to get excited

We are still debating the Dolphin Swim vs. the Encounter through Disney but we have already booked the Stingray City Trip with Captain Marvin. Anyone have any suggestions for Key West?? My DH thinks we should just stay on the ship and enjoy a relaxing day:rolleyes: But I think since we are there we should go do and see!!

Well-- I think I need to hit the summer clearance racks and buy some sandals and bathing suits for my kids now because there is a very good chance they will outgrow the ones they wore all summer:teeth:

Happy Shopping!

I think it is time to share itinerary ideas. a friend borrowed all my infor so i do not have it handy. I will post what excursions we are thinking about and what onboard ressies we are considering in hopes of getting everybodt's feedback. we are still looking for someone with a DD or ds to hook up with our DD who will be five 1/02/04. She will be missing her sisters who will be with kids there own age. If we could tell her we have found her a friend before we even cruise she would think she is pretty neat. We are flying in so late we will stay in Orlando at the hampton Inn airport and then take a limo early Saturday moring. If there is a small family three or four maybe we could split the limo w reserved. Let's stay active and share ideas as a group!!! Any lime green ideas?

ESPN---becoming a teen hangout.

Uncommon Grounds--becoming a coffee house (This could be dangerous.....I usually just bring a bunch of International Delights and mix it in my regular coffee:rolleyes: )

Dueling Pianos (can't remember the real name)-- sports bar??

I think we should also see the new show "Golden Mickeys". I've read that this is fantastic!!!

I am a little jealous that you are so organized with your planning already. Your itinerary looks great. We will be with Captain Marvin too, except we are on the 1100 tour. We are also planning Chakanaab and Minigolf too!!

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the boards and was very excited to find this thread!:Pinkbounc

This will be our first ever cruise. We love the idea of meeting up with DIS folks. We will be at the Radisson on the 16th too, so count us in on any pre cruise or cruise meetups.

Let me introduce our families.

My family: Me, 43; DH 41; DD 6

Friend's Family FF, Her DH, DD 6 and DD 3

We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary, my birthday (2 weeks before we sail) and dd's birthday (2 weeks after).

Someone on here was asking about friends for her daughter who will turn 5. Both our girls are 6 but I'm sure they would love to email her and know they have a "club buddy" ::MinnieMo before we leave.

How do I add that countdown thing to my messages?

Can't wait to cruise!

Freelion,

I have the dd who will turn 5 1/04. Looking at the age breaks she will have her sister with her who is 7. Our soon to be 5 year old is always the odd one out so if I could tell her I have already found her some friends she will think she is cool. You could sen me an e-mail at bakaroma@sisna.com or a pm through the boards. I could send you a photo so agian she would feel pretty cool. She is a pretty funny kids bewteen her facial expressions, vocabulary she's trying to grow into, and her square body.

Keith

We look forward to getting to know everyone in advance of the trip. The countdown continues. I am wondering if there will be any other educators playing hooky on our trip. I am a principal and my wife is a teacher. This date was just about the only week we had no conflicts all year.

I have not cruised in January, but I have searched the web for weather. The average temps. are rather warm. From what I have read that other people said...it can be anywhere from really warm to cold!! I guess it is a lot of luck. I can bet that the nights will be rather cool... when we cruised in August...it was cool outside at night. I am hoping for the best!

Yes, we are getting closer, aren't we! Our cruise will be here before you know it! We are driving to Florida on January 14th (and into the 15th), so we're under 2 months already. We plan on hitting the Parks on the 15th and 16th before heading to the Magic on the 17th. Anyone else doing this? We're getting new park-hoppers before this trip, so we'll have a few days left on them after this trip - sounds like another Disneyworld vacation in the near future! Our DDs are getting excited! I think they have an idea of what it will be like, but I'm guessing we're all in for some GREAT surprises!

Thumper7796 -
We're from the Pottsville, PA area. We're also on deck 6 (forward), and we have 2 inside cabins. We have 3 daughters (ages 11, 8, and 3). We've cruised before, but this is our first Disney cruise. So if you have any non-Disney cruise questions, we'd be glad to help. You can email us at clauser@evenlink.com.
Since there are 5 of us, and since the cost of the cruise is fairly substantial (esp. with 2 cabins!), we'll be going light on the excursions. We're thinking of hitting the beaches at every stop, and doing minigolf on Cozumel.

Welcome Thumper-- We are also on deck 6--6066 and 6064. I have two DDs (almost 11 and one that turned 7 yesterday!!). We should definitely have them meet on the ship.

I tried to get my DD10 to exchange emails with a few other kids going on this cruise. She sent out a few intro email but there wasn't much interest, probably because it was so far away. Maybe now we should get the kids to try and connect again.

Hello again MNmom- We're here, we're here. I guess you don't realize how busy life is until you try and find time to answer posts or e-mail about your vacation. DH saw the new commercial for DCL and says that is exactly what he hopes to do on board and on shore, REST. As long as he doesn't mind me roaming the ship and shore with credit card in hand and without his voice of reason behind me, then it's o.k. with me. As I posted somewhere before it will be me Sandra, DH Mark, DD 11, and DS 9, stateroom 6106, early seating, staying at Radisson. We're from Long Island, N.Y. and would be interested in a meet by the pool and maybe one on ship for those not staying at the Radisson. Please e-mail me your list when completed. I'll try to get on my kids to start e-mailing again.

Has anyone heard about the filming of a sitcom on our cruise?????

I just got an email from Dreams Unlimited that stated they have been informed from DCL that a nationally televised ABC sitcom will be shooting on the 1/17 Magic sailing:jester:

They go on to say that they will do their absolute best to keep the disruption to a minimum for their guests.....yada, yada.

We think this is very exciting and can't wait to find out what show it is and who will be on the ship with us!!! We are not ones to be inconvenienced by something like this and think it will just add to our adventure. The kids might even get a kick out of the production of a show like this. Hi Everyone!
We will be sailing with you as well! I haven't done much planning so far, but am starting to get excited. It will be myself, DH, DD(turning 9 on the cruise), and DS(3).

We're not planning many excursions because our 3 yr. old isn't old enough yet, and it doesn't look like he'll have the bathroom training down by the time we go in order to stay in the club.
I think we'll just do some beach activities. We might try Stingray City and take turns getting in the water and watching the kids on the boat. DH and I went snorkling and scuba diving there 10 years ago and it was fantastic. We'd love to do it again!

We sailed the same week two years ago on the Eastern, probably with many of you. I was just so overwhelmed with everything I didn't take time to correspond or get together with anyone. This time I'd like to attent a meet and get to know some friendly faces!

I'll send my info to MNmom (we're from Minnesota too!). I think we'll be at the airport Hyatt the night before since we arrive late.

I haven't been on the boards much lately, but it's very addictive so I will probably be learning lots of great tips from everyone!

Thanks!

dskittles- Welcome fellow Minnesotan!!! I sure can't wait to get some sunshine on my bones!!! You can email me at Vicshap@aol.com or just post your information here and I will put it into the list. I didn't quite get if you are staying at the Radisson on the 16th or not. We have 8 families so far and should have quite a pool party!!

No plans for an onboard meet yet! I have heard that Deck 7 is a great place but have no idea about when.

We are getting closer.......:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks for your reply MNMom - I usually just read everyone elses posts - so I'm not sure how all this works. We are staying at the All Star Movies (hopefully in the Mighty Ducks as my girls play hockey and love that movie!) the week before the cruise and then the night before (Jan 16th) I have a courtesy hold on 2 different hotels. We have always stayed at the Holiday Inn on Cocoa Beach past cruises but now I would love to meet all of you at the Radisson. My husband is in Germany until December 12th so I just blocked them both thinking that we'll prob go with the Radisson. On the cruise we are in room 7003. If there is any other info I should be including let me know. Everyone sounds so nice can't wait to meet some of you.

Take care:wave:

I just got a call from my AAA travel agent this afternoon saying ours had arrived in her office and we could stop by and pick them up. I'm very surprised that they are here so early also (but pleased!). I plan to go get them tomorrow afternoon.

Bakaroma, just wanted to let you know my dd got your dd's email, but has been sick this week with an intestinal bug. She plans to write back as soon as she's feeling better.

Has anyone heard any more about the ABC show filiming on our cruise? I did some brief searching on the internet yesterday hoping for a rumor or hint or anything, but no luck.

:hyper: :hyper: We received our documents this week too! Several large boxes were delivered from UPS for our business, and mixed in with them was this small one from Disney Cruise Line! I wasn't even thinking they would arrive this soon, but it was exciting. We reserved through Dreams Unlimited. We used them last time (2 years ago) and the price of our cruise went down two times during our reservation period last time. No such luck this time, but that's OK. We're just excited to be going!

Well were almost there. I expect MNMom to toast the countdown. We are arriving a day early to hedge against a winter storm. We plan to rent a car from MCO and visit Universal for the day and renew our annual passes for 99.00, then drive over to the Radisson at the port. How do some of you plan on returning to the airport after the cruise? Does anyone share rides back to the airport? What are some ways those that have cruised before returned to MCO? How about a lime green DIS-bus to transport us to and from airport?

Our kids have 1/26 off from school as well as 1/19 so we're not flying home until the 26th. We're going to rent two cars (there are two familes in our party) and our friends will go visit relatives in Orlando and we're planning to head to WDW. We're picking up the cars at Budget near the port. How many are in your party? Maybe we could give you a lift to the airport??

Not sure where we'll stay at WDW yet or which parks we'll see. My DH and I have been to WDW several times but my DD has not been there yet. Any recommedations on WDW hotels, sights or non WDW stuff??

I'm still curious about the ABC sitcom that will be filming on our cruise. I checked out the ABC website and according to it, they currently have 10 sitcoms on their schedule. They are:

8 Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter
According to Jim
George Lopez
Hope & Faith
I'm With Her
It's All Relative
Less Than Perfect
Life with Bonnie
Married to the Kellys
My Wife & Kids

I haven't really watched any of these so I'm completely clueless. Does anyone have any guesses as to which one it will be?

Since we are staying at the Radisson at the Port the night before and we will be bringing our luggage with us. Last time we took the Disney Bus and we didn't get our luggage in our room until around 5:30. Please tell me that they don't take it from us and then we have to wait again.

Also, my friends who are also going on the cruise got their documents on Thursday. I still don't have mine yet.

We are soooo excited!! I wish the next month would be over and the 7 days in Paradise would take a month to end!!

Our kids also do not have school on the 26th, so we are spending 2 nights at WL and 3 days in the Parks!! :Pinkbounc :earsgirl:

I read several times it will be According to Jim with Jim Belushi. Since then we have watched the show a few times and find it to be at lease clean and funny. I think part of the reason people believe it to be According to Jim is because the kids have a lot of Disney items as props in the show.

We booked with All Seasons Travel and were told that they are late in sending out docs, we did receive them on this past Fri. Just a note, they were left by my door in a Fedex box, no one had signed for them, seems strange that important papers would be left in that manner for anyone to have access to and for me not to be alerted to look for a package. I think you should contact your TA and ask if your docs are in or if they've been sent.

DizC1288

I also, booked with All Seasons Travel. I had called there last Friday and they said it was too early to send them out....I had told her that we have always gotten them in plenty of time for Christmas in the past with other TA~DU. She went and checked and said~OOPS they were fed exed on Thursday. Well, as tonight 12-23 I have not received them. I did call today and asked for a tracking number so I could see where they are......and he told me they were mailed for a 2 day delivery, that they would come in with the reg. mail...but with the holiday, give it a extra day. I told him....it has already been extra days if it were mailed on Thursday!

So, I don't know who to believe...if they were really mailed or not! I will see if they come tomarrow...and I am going to call them again tomarrow!

When we called last week we too were told that they would be mailed out on Thur. Yours should have also arrived by now. Did you receive a tracking # ? If not call and get one and call Fed Ex yourself to track your package. As for the extra day nonsense, 2 day is still 2 day, your package is too late to be considered late due to holiday volume. Hope you resolve this for Christmas.

They have a postal stamp on them...12/18/03 from Florida and they were sent FED EX....but they had the wrong zip code on them...so this must be why they took so long to get them!!!

I know they have my correct zipcode since they have sent me other stuff. I can't believe they wrote it wrong on the package!!!

People from the DIS boards usually try to meet onboard sometime during the cruise. We have discussed meeting, but have not set a time or a place. The secret deck on 7 aft has been discussed, but no time has been set. A day at sea is nice, as is during the sail away party. We need to decide soon, the time is drawing near!

Also, don't forget to have your lime green paint swatch or ribbon somewhere visible in the terminal, you might just meet someone before you board!

BAKAROMA- The DIS meet on the ship sounds great. How much time is there between the sail away party and the mandatory emergency drill? Are you still planning on Chakanaab? My DH and DD(10) will be taking a taxi over there around 1030. If you are still interested in sharing a cab, we could work something out.

We spent most of the day cleaning out closets and trying on shorts and swim suits:eek: The kids are 90% packed with all of their dinner clothes, shorts and Ts, swimwear and sweatshirts all squished in ziplock bags. I LOVE THOSE THINGS!!!

Wel we have two itinerary's we are considering in Coz and I am looking for any advice or tag-a-longs.
Plan A
Sally's plan "I would start out at minigolf, then shop you way back to the waterfront, grab a cab to Dzul Ha for snorkeling and then spend the afternoon at Paradise Beach." Depending on the amount of snorkeling we do in Cayman we may opt for Paradise without Dzul Ha. We are also planning to get to the waterfront to reboard the ship for lunch.

Plan B

Chankanaab till threeish then minigolf and back to the boat for dinner (we have ealy seating).

Any advice?

Hello Fellow Cruisers
I'm sitting here at just past 11 pm, while Sandy is freaking out about having to gather things for the cruise. Earlier she made the kids try on all the clothes she bought over the past year for them to wear on the cruise, of course my daughter hated everything and now wants to go cruise wear shopping, my son couldn't care less as long as he can wear his baggie shorts alot. There a cold front coming in tonight and temps are going down to 5 degrees tonight and its supposed to stay with us for a few days. I've spent the better park of the past 8 months lurking here and following Sandy's ranting about the cruise and it's starting to get to me too. I just read the entire thread and I guess its finally here. Alot of you also seem to be coming from some northern climates and I'll bet you're all just as anxious to get to some warmer weather. It seems that my kids did not keep in contact with the few other kids that they started e-mailing, like everything else they promise to keep up with. Is there a time set for a meet at the Radisson yet? What about onboard? We are first time cruisers so please give a place easily found. Believe it or not now Sandy is crying wondering if we should go on the cruise and if the kids will be safe, and if it will be safe in the water at the ports, etc... Did anyone else ever get cruise jitters?

mickeymom30
01-07-2004, 09:51 AM
Hi Sandy and Mark,
This is our third Disney Cruise. We have dd' 4 and 6. We never had a safety concern while on board. Everyone is checked before getting on and all the bags go through some type of screening. I am sure security will even be tighter seeing that According to Jim will be filming!! I don't remember the age of your children but the clubs run a tight ship also. I never had a concern leaving my children there. I always felt confident they were well taken care of and I also new by the number of times that my pager went off if the kids ever wanted me they do not hesitate to call you. The first few times I was paged by the time I got there the kids were into something new and then did not want to leave! Both trips were 4 night vacation and we have always had such and outstanding time we opted for the 7 night this year and are already planning for next year. Stop worrying and enjoy yourself! We are from CT and like you can't wait to get out of the cold. Let me know if you have any other questions. See you in 9 days!princess:

julie junebug
01-07-2004, 11:04 AM
Hi Mark and Sandy!

Don't worry, the security will be fine and I think you'll feel better once you get there and see what it's really like. The kids will be fine in the club because their security is very good. On our previous trip, we were paged for our daughter, and since I'd never had a pager I kept wondering what the "strange noise" in our cabin was! They paged me again and by the time I figured out what it was, we raced to the club only to find that everything was fine and she wanted to stay longer!

This is a time of lots of anxiety, when all the planning we've done is finally coming to an end and it's really time to go. Sometimes we start second guessing ourselves at the last minute because we want everything to be just right, and see all the best sights, wear the right clothes, and have the best time possible. Even if you stay on the ship the entire time and your kids wear the same clothes every day, you'll have a wonderful vacation!

Having said that, I've been shopping for clothes like crazy the past few days, re-thinking our excursion choices, worrying about a snowstorm delaying our trip, and having general anxiety about all the details! I'm the planner and packer in our family, so I feel overwhelmed most times before we leave on a trip. I want it to go well because I've invested so much time and energy into the planning and am afraid I've forgotten something or made the wrong choices.

So I understand your anxiety and I think all the details are getting to you, but you really don't have to worry about security.
The kids will be fine too. My daughter didn't spend to much time in the club before and was with us most of the time and we had a really fun time together as a family. She will turn 9 on the trip this time, and I think she's looking forward to making some friends and spending more time in the club (now that she's more "mature"). She says she wants to eat with the kids from the club at the buffet every night. We might not see as much of her this time!

Also, you will have lots of support from all the members on this board, so try and relax and have fun. We hope to meet you on board!

Hi Debby-
That is sooooo great:Pinkbounc :bounce:

My DH and I were on the same trip last Feb. and loved it so much we wanted to take the kids. I hope they like it as much as we did. Right now they are a little freaked out about the rays....my mother is the worst. She will probably not even get in the water:rolleyes: My DD(10) is a pretty good snorkeler (sp?) so I hope she really likes this excursion too!!

DIS Meets!!

Radisson- My group of 10 is planning to hang out around the pool for most of the later afternoon with a break for dinner. Then we are planning to come back to the pool for the "official" meet around 7:30. There are a few families that aren't checking in until 7-8pm so we thought we would have the official meet a little later. But anyone who wants to find us we will be there from about 4pm on. Let's just hope for some warm weather or else we will ALL be in the hot tub;)

Magic- I think the decision was to meet up after the Sailaway Party. I'm not sure where?? Anybody?

Don't forget your lime green ribbon or swatches. My DDs wrote our names on the Home Depot paint swatches and had them laminated at school. We will use them for our carry-ons, they are very cute!!!

Mark and Sandra- Pre cruise worries are very common. I find myself second guessing all of my reservations and plans. I also find myself on these boards more in the pre cruise days. I just think about it all too much!! We try to make all of the planning and packing fun but sometimes it does get overwhelming. The only thing that seems to make me feel better is planning the NEXT vacation:teeth:

You may have to look for us in the hot tub or at the bar;) I have also seen rain predicted for Key West:mad: Either way you may find us at the bar:crazy: We are going to have a great week no matter what happens 'cuz we are on the Magic:earsboy:

I called the toll-free 800 number yesterday to find out the movies on the Magic next week when ALL OF US are on the cruise. I was told the following movies (subject to change):

Chicago.....................................Lizzie McGuire
Spy Kids 3D: Game Over...............Finding Nemo
Pirates of the Caribbean...............Freaky Friday
Cold Creek Manor........................Under the Tuscan Sun
Veronica Guerin..........................Brother Bear
Haunted Mansion........................Calendar Girls

Hmmmmm There’s a couple I may want to see if I’m not too busy enjoying the pool  or sun :sunny:

Just checking, the "button/ribbon" is lime green ::yes::, correct??

THANKS,
Keith

Thanks for posting the information about the shows. Several look interesting to us. It's been so long since I've been to a movie, I can't remember the last time. I've been meaning to post but have been overwhelmed here with the holidays, work, the flu (everyone here got it--both the intestinal and respiratory types), trying to pack for the cruise and yesterday there was a main water break in front of our house so the city is out there right now trying to fix it and since I can't do laundry I had 5 minutes to sit down and read the boards and post.

Magic, take me away!

For those of you staying at the Radisson the night before, we'll be there too. There are 7 of us, but our flight doesn't get into Orlando until about 6:30. So I guess it will be close to 8 or so before we arrive. We'll look for folks around the pool area. I got our green mickeys last week and was preparing name and luggage tags when the 3 girls decided to help decorate them. The next thing I knew they had completely crayoned over them with purple, orange and some shade of hot pink. If I don't get a chance to drop by Home Depot before Friday, we'll be the ones at the pool with the psychedelic mickeys!:jumping1:

I second Bakaroma's request to get a definite time and place for the Dis meet on the ship.

MNMom, you said you did some research and found that the emergency drill is scheduled for 4 pm and the sailaway party at 4:30. Should we meet as soon as the sailaway party is over? Would that be around 4:45 pm or 5:00? I'd suggest a meeting place but as this is our first cruise, I'm clueless. Any ideas anyone?

Also, now that I've had some time to go back and read the boards I wanted to let MnMom and JMNutt know that our families are also scheduled for the 11:15 Stingray Tour with Capt. Marvin. Is anyone else signed up for that one? We'll have 3 girls with us, ages 6,6 and 3.

I am getting so excited!:cool1:

Does someone have a # for Capt. Marvins? How about our onboard meet, anyone have any ideas for a location and time. The Weather channel is calling for some wintery weather for the next few days, I hope everyone has planned some extra time for delays. Hope to see you all soon, safe travels to everyone.

Captain Marvin's has a toll free # 1-866-978-0022 which is staffed Monday thru Friday from 10 am to 3 pm EST. I called last week to make our reservations and the operator was very courteous, friendly and informative. They also have a web site at www.captainmarvins.com

I just got home from work and now I am on VACATION:jester:

Looks like we have quite a group going on Capt. Marvins at 11:15. It will be all DISers and a great group!! If I figure right I think we have about 30 people on this trip!!

Freelion- we will look for you at the Radisson too!! We have 2 DD(10 and 7) and DS3. Look for us in the hot tub!!!:teeth:

I am still at a loss for the DIS Meet:confused: I asked on the general board where and when others met for their meets. They recommended not having a meet outside as it is windy and could rain and the first day is too crazy to try to get everyone together. I guess I don't want to set the time and place and then have it not work out for our schedule. WHat about the first day at sea??? Someone else suggested 1pm was a good time to meet. WHat do you think? Help...someone make a decision:crazy:

MickeyMagic-- I can't believe it was 2 years ago. Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes. We will miss you this year!!

smacky1-- Welcome to the 1/17 group. I was on the Wonder last year without kids and had a fantastic time.

I better finish my packing:rolleyes:

I second the idea for the onboard Dis meet to be on the first day at sea. This way us newbies can get a feel for the ship and maybe bump into a couple of our fellow Disers first and then be pleasantly surprised to find out we are fellow Dis board members. I guess picking someplace away from bad weather is a good idea and maybe someplace where they serve drinks for us suffering from PVS ( pre- vacation syndrone), but someplace that allows kids so that they too can meet some friends.

We also are going on the Capt. Marvins excursion.

The weather here is supposed to bottom out at a whopping wind chill of -25, Do you have any idea how good 80+ degree temps sound!!! Even the temps at the Port of mid 70's sound downright tropical.

Well I've finished packing, finally. Yeah Right! I'm looking over my lists and realizing that I'm not finished yet. I hope I don't forget anything, but then again I hope I don't overpack things we might still need. If you see a group boarding in their robes and pajamas you'll know it's me and what I did!

Here's a suggestion for a DIS meet up. How about 5:15 pm in the Promenade lounge on Deck 3?

According to Passporter's Guide, the sail away party usually begins between 4:30 and 4:45 pm and lasts about 1/2 an hour. The book also describes the Promenade lounge as the most family friendly on board.

Also, according to Jennifer & Dave's latest newsletter, it was remodeled during drydock and now has better traffic flow and a new look. It is located between Lumiere's and Parrot Cay and only one deck away from Animator's Palate...convenient for those with early dining.

ok so I am the only one who hasn't even thought about packing?

I am so bad, we are leaving the house at 3:30AM tomorrow and I still haven't dug DS' summer clothes out :earseek: I did collect his swim trunks and formal night outfit, so I have the important things ;) there's just something so cute about little guys in ties

I'm off to start collecting things and trying to find a suitcase.... I'll proably be running around town at midnight begging people for a suitcase. Last year I was packed a week before we we're leaving, oh well!

5:15 at the Promanade Lounge sounds great. It may have to be a quick meet-and-greet because we have early dinner, but it will be great to meet all of you. Don't forget your LIME GREEN ribbon or swatch:sunny:

See some of you tomorrow and the rest of you on Sat:Pinkbounc :bounce:

I hope everyone that was on our cruise had a great time and by now the floor has stopped swaying. Did anyone else rebook again? Are any of those who had to cancel going to rebook the same cruise for next year?
