I called the other day to find out if there were discount rates for May and the clerk quoted me a price with package items included instead of just giving me the flat room rate. They were trying to sell airline tickets, rental car, puttputt golf, etc. I have never had this experience before. Usually they ask if you will need park tickets but I felt like I was talking to a telemarketer. I had to prod to get a flat room rate. If I was a first time caller I wouldn't have realized that the flat rates don't come with built-in extras. Anyone know what is going on?

Which number did you call? There is a difference b/c one goes to the CRO's and one to the WDTC (travel center) . The WDTC is more focused on selling packages as opposed to just the room.
When I call I always call 1-407-w-disney.

I just called today to book my visit in October. I called 407-W-DISNEY and told the CM that I wanted to book a "room only reservation". She told me she could book a basic package which included the one-day admission to the Sports Complex. I asked if I was speaking to Walt Disney Travel Company and she said 'yes'. I asked to speaked to the Central Reservation Office and she transferred me, no problem.
I'm hoping to call back in the summer and apply a code since the $384/night at the Poly is painful . . . ouch!:earseek:

Yes, the other night I called to inquire about a room only rate and they transferred me to someone who tried to sell me a package...

Hate to tell you but that number goes to both CRO and the WDTC. Either can answer unfortunately. You must ask for CRO when calling.
