In the tradition of great summer Dismeets...There is towncriers Memorial day meet, Bernie's riddle con, Glo and Alex are having the cape meet. We will be hosting the second annual Patrick Con Saturday July 12th at our home :) Last year we had seven or eight different states represented and even another country :) Details in the coming months, we would love to have you if you could make it into Chicago :) Thinking about combining a little trip up to Great America Friday or Monday also :)
A couple of random shots from last year :)

Didn't get to go last year due to Hunter's due date being right around the corner.
But we'd like to come this year if scheduling permits.
If Patrick Con Part Deux is July 12th, than that's 6 days before Hunter's 1st birthday!!

We will run it like last year. As we get closer in I will start communicating with everyone as to what is needed ect...I think I will let Ellen work with that part. She said last night last year we ended up with so much food and drink! Of course thats the way disers are...they never come empty handed :)

There is an idea :) Alex if you want to come out the wagon trains come out about once a week with the mail...you could hitch up with one of those.
Hey my van is atleast a step up from a covered wagon...though I can see Alex only lasting about 10 minutes :p :p

Glo - I got the Hilton Garden Inn - Oakbrook Terrace (2-1/2*) with a $23 bid. I didn't even try for a 3-star hotel this time - like the Embassy Suites that some of us got last year, cuz I just wanted to be cheap. ;)

I want to come, but we are having difficulty scheduling DD's b-day party with 2 weddings, 1 company picnic and the 4th of July in there. I was looking at this weekend for her birthday party. We will have to see, I really don't want to mix her birthday with the 4th of July.

my original intent this year was to attend whatever DIS meets i could in my local area...
BUT...we are now trying to buy a stinking house...:( and every last penny is going towards that right now...
crossing my fingers and hoping it works out for us to attend at least one of these meets this summer!! i'm only in indianapolis!!

I hope everyone who is hoping to come can make it. Dream I know the feeling about "commitments" during this upcoming summer...I had marked this date quite a while back down..almost every other weekend is full for us too.

Well...we may be latecomers but doesn't look hopeful again this year. My volunteer commitment looks like it might get in the way and then dd will come back from camp that day in the middle of the afternoon. If she doesn't look (or smell) too grubby - we may try to come down on our way home.
If that weekend is free we might make the trip..:)

I priceline'd a room for two nights so I know that at least I'll be there for sure. At the present time, the family calendar says that everyone else can come too, but I am no longer in control of my family's plans. Was I ever in control???
See you all in July. :)

Our deck holds about 20 comfortably, the lawn area another 20-30 and the pool, about 10-20ish..... Our largest party to date was 50 people.. and it went very smoothly! I too love our backyard and we are really looking forward to moving outside again! COME ON SPRING!!!!!!!

Has there been any talk about dinner on Friday night yet? We may be interested in meeting some people for dinner on Friday evening since we probably can't make it on Sat.
If we can have Cassie's birthday in early June there is a good chance we can make it..:) Must go to Chicago in the Summer..:)
Towncrier
03-17-2003, 12:55 PM
We did Buca di Beppo on the night before PatrickCON 1. I'm pretty sure that Helenabear will vote for Gino's. We're planning to get to Chicago in plenty of time for dinner, so you can count us in for whatever dinner plans work for everyone else.
Glo - I was hoping for Embassy Suites, but we ended up at the Radisson Hotel Schaumburg. I think that I probably bid too much for the room, but it's less than half the best rate that I could find online for Embassy Suites.
SideshowBob
03-17-2003, 01:15 PM
Mr. Patrick,
Please count the evil SideshowBob in also... :)
Staying downtown for the MLB All Star Game schmack that just follows PatrickCon, so might just rent a car that day, or sumpin'... but will be there, by hook or by crook! (Whatever THAT means!!!)
:) :) :)
Thanks for hosting again!!!!
I loved the Embassy Suites last year. I did not luck out this year. I am at the Four Points Sheraton, a nice place and not to far from the Embassy Suites if I remember correctly. I have the same hotel again for when I return to Chicago later in the Summer with the girls :)
I am looking forward to the trip out there :) :)
I wonder what my chore will be this year :)
Hey SSB...will you be doing the phone behind the trees thing again this year???

If a dinner meet surfaces and it's at any place besides Gino's, please let me know and we'll see if we can make it. There would be just 2 of us. I'm just Gino'd out and would like to try someplace different - we couldn't make the Bucca meet last year but would be willing to try to make it this year if that's where you go! And frankly a place near Oak Brook would probably be better due to how Friday traffic into the city can be (and yes, we would have to be in that traffic to get anywhere for dinner on a Friday night). Just a suggestion. Thanks for listening.
Dinner is ok with me!!! I am always up for food!

You know I kind of snuck on in here just to see what was going on and I saw my name mentioned  No preference for dinner right now actually, but I am pretty sure that we will be there in time for dinner. I haven't made any plans for this one yet just because we aren't sure when we'll be there or for how long. We might make this a longer trip so Luis can actually get a chance to see a little more of the city. I think I'll put a little more thought into this meet once I get back from my next upcoming trip.
I actually looked at that Radisson Inn in Schaumburg and it looks pretty nice. I didn't go with that one this trip only because they have an outdoor pool and for me in April an indoor pool is a requirement for me ;)
Todd, it'd be great if you could make this meet. We should pick the same hotels again and this time we'll bring our remotes for the Game Cube because I will remember to pack them :smooth:

I've stayed at the Four Points Sheraton once. And I think that PandyPaws stayed there for PatrickCon last year. It's just down the road from the Embassy Suites and right next door to the pizza place where we got the pizza that we took back to the Embassy Suites.
If there's a Game Cube involved, perhaps I'll be able to convince DS James to tag along. I suppose if I let him do some of the driving, he'll come with us for sure.
All this talk of food has me hungry. :)

Thanks, John! :teeth: I always go to www.biddingfortravel.com first, to see what others have paid for Priceline hotels. I usually try to beat the lowest price I see, or at least snag a hotel for a low price. I've found that it's easier to get a nice hotel for less in a big city than it is in a smaller town.

I was thinking -- if the unfortunate happens and Patrick Con is not held this year, can we do an alternate meet that weekend? I was planning on going to Six Flags Great America the next day, but I can meet other DISers that Saturday. Will anyone else in the Chicago area be willing to lend their house to some crazy people? Shall we just invade Towncrier's hotel room and jump up and down on the bed? :)
