Just booked Wyndham Palms Resort and CC for $88.90 for a two bedroom villa through Hotel Kingdom.:Pinkbounc :bounce: Has anyone stayed there, and if so, can you tell me how you liked it?

We stayed there a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit. (Two queen beds in the smaller bedroom. King size in the master bedroom. Jacuzzi was in master.) Complete kitchen, washer/dryer, safe. A basketball court (which can be out of the way depending on what building you're in.) When you get back from the parks 3 televisions (really cut down on squabbling over what to watch before the kids zonked out. Didn't really get to the clubhouse.

A couple of miles from Irlo Bronson Hwy.

Think the price you got was great. Hope it lasts until we book our reservations.

Have a wonderful time!!!

We stayed at Wyndham Palms last week--from 2/20 thru 2/24.
Had a 2 Bedroom Villa--was quite large, very clean and spacious!!! In the Living Room was a pull out leather couch,
a 52 inch TV as well as TVs in each bedroom. It had a complete Kitchen and Dining Room as well as a breakfast bar with 2 stools. The screened in porch was a good size with a table and chairs. Our villa was on the ground floor overlooking the golf course.
We saw the 2 pools but didn't have time to check them out--they looked very nice when we rode by!!!! Too many Disney meals so we didn't try the cafe either!!!!!
Was very close to the WDW turnoff on 192--only a couple of minutes down the road!
Also got that tremendous rate from HotelKingdom.
We really enjoyed our stay and would stay their again-----we thought we had enough DVC points until we moved to Florida and became frequent Disney visitors---so we were pleased to find such a great place and rate for our last visit!!!!!

If you have any more ?????--just ask!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so very much. I am glad to hear you had such a pleasant experience. DH and I are very excited as we are going with DS, DIL, DGS and DGD. DH and I stayed at Carribean Beach 2 yrs ago, but we wanted to make it a little more affordable for DS and family, hence staying off property. I have been checking Hotel Kingdom for a few months, and when I saw that rate for Wyndham I almost fell off my chair.

Glad to hear the rooms are spacious.

So it is quite easy to get to WDW from there? We are renting a minivan.

Also, is there a grocery store nearby? Are there other restaurants nearby other than the ones at Wyndham? Any information you can provide will be very much appreciated.:D

There are LOTS of restaurants on Irlo Bronson (192.) Very reasonably priced. Look for the coupon books which give you even more savings. They used to have them in the check-in area of the hotel and you can find them just about anywhere you go. Please take advantage of them. They'll help cut down costs.

Publix stores are the grocery facilities down there with fairly decent prices. They have 1,001 of them. Someone might want to correct me, but I think the one on International Drive, just north of Irlo Bronson is the closest to Wyndam. It's a little east of I-4 when you exit that expressway. There is a Walgreen's on the corner. There is a Wal-Mart a lllllloooooonnnnnnnggggggggg way away, but don't know if they also carry groceries. It's supposed to be huge, though.

Hope you're no veggan because there is a Black Angus restaurant at the corner of Irlo Bronson and the street the hotel is on. Very good beef.

For seafood, there is an Angel's to the east of the hotel on 192. Some of it is good, some not.

Again, there are lots of restaurants of all different varieties along 192. There are also quite a few on International Drive when you get closer to Universal, just to the north and south of Sand Lake Road. (I think that's the street's name. Sorry, but once you get past 30, 35, 40, 45, I'll stop there, the mind starts slipping fast.) Having your own transportation really opens up a lot of dining opportunities for you.

I'm so jealous. You actually know when you're going. All I know is some time in August!!!

Sorry. It is VERY easy to get to WDW from there. Just go east a very few miles on 192. Signage will NOT let you get lost.

Thanks so much for all the info. I will print it out. Nope, not a vegan, so the beef sounds great. I will definately look for the coupon book.

Definatey want to take advantage of the kitchen facilities, so we will definately pick up stuff for a few quick lunches and some snacks (and beer and wine;) ).

It looks so nice on the internet, so I am glad to get such positive feedback from you and captiva (thanks captiva!).

Like I said, I was totally taken aback by the price. Hope you can get that price for when you go.

Thanks again, both of you. Now I can relax.:D :Pinkbounc :bounce:

newmousecateer- We just booked this hotel ourselves.

Captiva and Popsicle-
There will be 9 of us going on the trip- 8 adults and 1 child. Do you think we will all fit comfortably in the 2 bedroom villa? We are thinking about also booking a 1 bedroom so nobody has to sleep on the sleeper sofa.
Also, is there maid service? I want clean towels every day.

I'm glad you asked this question. We too are going to the Wyndham Palms (March 16-22). Make sure you join Wyndham By Request at www.wyndham.com.

Hi J&D
It might be tight for 8 adults and 1 child. The Master Suite has
a King Bed and the Master bath is attached to the room. There are 2 queen beds in the other bedroom with a bathroom right outside that bedroom and a pull out sofa in the living room. Your eating areas will be sufficient but sleeping might be tight----
There is complimentary arrival and departure maid service---additional services are available for $35.00 for a 2 bedroom villa (I guess that is per day). There is a complimentary garbage pickup nightly at 10PM---you have to place your garbage outside your door. There are designated refuse bins adjacent to each building if you would rather not wait until 10PM.

Hi Newmousecateer
Be sure to pick up the coupon books, pamphlets and maps at the check-in building. They all have coupons for various restaurants, shops, etc. There is every kind of food choice on 192 -----also lots of options on 535. There is a Publix Supermarket on 192--that is probably the best bet for picking up supplies except for Walmart!!!!! If you can't live without Krispy Kremes--there is a coupon in the small coupon book for a dozen at the Krispy Kreme store on 192---we got them while they were HOT!!!!!!!

Just remembered there also is a minature golf course just past the check-in building (not sure if there is a charge!).

If I can help with anything else--let me know!!!!!!!!!!

I also booked at the $88.90 rate. can you please tell me if they asked you to take a timeshare tour even though you were not required to take one? if they did ask you to, did they take no for an answer easily? did they try saying you were supposed to because of your rate? I booked a 2 bedroom & my sister also booked a 2 bedroom & was wondering if they try to hassle you with a tour. thanks in advance for your response!

Aubrey

We also booked this resort for November. There was a further discount of about $25/night offered if you take the timeshare tour but it is only available to residents of selected states.

captiva
03-04-2003, 03:11 PM
No---we were NEVER contacted for a timeshare pitch or tour! A few minutes after we arrived in our villa, we received a phone call from the Front Desk to see if everything was OK with our villa. At that time I thought they would inquire as to if "we were interested in a tour" but No--it was a genuine customer satisfaction question! I believe that HotelKingdom did offer a lower rate if you were interested in the tour.
I have no idea as to how much they do go for---saw loads of folks on the golf carts touring around.
Since we own at OKW (DVC) and South Seas Resort, Captiva Island we really aren't in the market for another timeshare, so I'm glad we didn't have to get involved in the whole NOT INTERESTED discussions!!!!!

We are going there too!! We just got our confirmation 10 mins ago!! I am so thrilled.. We got 9 nights for 800.00... We had Westgate at 450.00 but we had to do the timeshare presentation. After reading all the negative feedback on Westgate this is a total relief to get this deal!! AND no timeshare presentation... Woooo hooo.... Plus DH can now play golf!

Hi, J&D.

Nine people will be a VERY tight fit. There are two queen beds in the 2nd bedroom, a king in the master bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the living room. (Someone would have to sleep three to a bed.)

You might want to ask about the 3 bedroom (lock-out) units. They had that size unit when I went on a timeshare tour a couple of years ago in conjunction with a discounted rate for the 2br apartment place we stayed in. You might still be able to get a pretty good price if they are offering those units for rental at all.

Good luck!!!

Hotel Kingdom has a one bedroom on our dates for $65 plus tax. We were thinking of the first of our 10 day stay to be there. Does this hotel have maid service, and can anyone who has stayed there tell me how long it takes to get to Disney? We havent' stayed off site in a long time, but am certainly considering it, at these prices, as something different.
Is this hotel close to Downtown Disney?
Thanks.

Aubrey

We haven't stayed there yet, our reservations are in November but I did a lot of research. If I remember correctly, they do not have regular maid service but it is available for a $35 fee each time. Allegedly, if you register with WyndhamByRequest, you can get extra towels, pillows, and free snacks too. I regestered so we'll see what happens.;)

captiva
03-05-2003, 06:09 PM
Hi All

Maid service is available per unit size----1 bedroom is $25.00 per service and a 2 bedroom is $35.00.
I am a member of Wyndham by Request and the snack I received was --1 can of Pepsi, 1 small snack size bag of Planter peanuts and 2 small bottles of water. Additionally, we received a newspaper each morning. I think Local Calls are free but we have a cell so that perk didn't really matter. I don't believe we received any additional towels or pillows but the villa came equiped with plenty!
Getting to Disney took only a few minutes! The Wyndham property is very large and once you leave their property gate you take a left then a right on 192 and in a short time you exit for Disney---only minutes! Not too far from Downtown Disney but NOT as close as the Hotels on Hotel Plaza!

DMRick,
I'm not sure how many people will be traveling with you but keep in mind that the only bathroom is located inside the master bedroom (might make middle of the night bathroom trips akward). The last couple of time share places I stayed at the toilet & shower are in a closed room inside the master bedroom but the bathtub is in the open room. dont know if this will make a difference but just wanted to throw that out there.

captiva,
so they DID give you alittle snack & drink huh? the 2 times I called the property directly, I was told NO snack or drink. they said they weren't "owned" by Wyndham & didnt have to use the same rules with the Wyndham by request like hotels do. did you have to ask for your "welcome snack" ??

I havent looked at a map yet, but isnt this placed located off of 192/Disney westgate next to the road for Splendid China? if so, its maybe 5 minute or so drive to the Disney parks

captiva
03-05-2003, 08:48 PM
Hey Cinamin27
Yes--Splendid China is a road down from the turnoff on 192.
The drive to Disney was only a few minutes!

I called in by Wyndham by Request number to Wyndham Palms directly since I forgot it when I booked with HotelKingdom.
Funny, when I checked in they couldn't find my reservation in their computer--so I pulled out my copy of the conformation and they still couldn't locate it. They finally got the Manager and he said "look right there--it is a Wyndham by Request packet".

We were in Building 22--there is still construction going on but since we were gone most of the day it didn't bother us at all.

By the way---it was 80 degrees here today in Sarasota and plenty of SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are talking about a 1 bedroom villa, aren't you? Don't the 2 bedroom villas have 2?

I'm so glad you posted the point about the bathrooms. When I checked the floor plan, sure enough there's one bathroom in the standard 2 bedroom unit and it enters off the Master Bedroom. Here's a link to the site if anyone's interested. When you click on "guest rooms" it shows photos and floor plans of the different types of suites.

We had a 2 bedroom villa and we had 2 bathrooms. The Master suite had a bathroom which was attached --the only door was to the Water Closet (toilet)---everything was in the open---tub, 2 vanitys ,shower and closet .
Right outside the 2nd bedroom (which had 2 queen beds) was another bathroom.

Aubrey, using your link, I scrolled thru the pictures till I got to the floor plans & the 2 bedroom (the one with the king bed & 2 queens) does show 2 bathrooms, its small on the floor plan squeezed in between the kitchen & the 2nd bedroom, it shows a tub, toilet & sink.

here's the description on hotelkingdom's website & since this is what was there when I booked, this is what I expect to get, especially since hotelkingdom seems to have a good reputation.

Two Bedroom Villa: Each Two Bedroom Villa features a separate private master bedroom that boasts one King-size bed, private bath, hot bubbling Jacuzzi tub, color cable TV with remote control VCR (CNN, TNT, ESPN, TBS, WGN, A&E, Disney Channel, basic channels). The second bedroom boasts two Queen-size beds, private shower/bathtub, color cable TV with remote control VCR (CNN, TNT, ESPN, TBS, WGN, A&E, Disney Channel, basic channels). In the living room a Queen-size sleeper sofa, color cable a large screen 52" TV with remote control VCR (CNN, TNT, ESPN, TBS, WGN, A&E, Disney Channel, basic channels). Other strong points are, voice mail, direct dial, AM/FM clock radio, hair dryer available at the desk (availability upon request), iron/ ironing board, in-room safe. The separate dining room area with dining table, sits 6 people. You will love the fully equipped kitchen featuring a washer & dryer, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, private screened in balcony. A baby crib is complimentary (request is based upon availability ). This resort does not have roll-aways. (sleep max. 8 people, 1552 sq. ft.). This resort does not offer roll-away beds.

J & D,
yes, when I was telling DMRick about 1 bathroom I meant in the 1 bedroom villa, because DMRick stated the great rate of $65 for a 1 bedroom & got concerned because of the son in the picture & was worried there would be children traveling also all having to share the same bathroom in the bedroom

Hi! Sorry I haven't been back to the thread for a little while.

Lots of good information here. Thanks everyone. And "whew", when I read only 1 bathroom I panicked!:p Glad to hear there are two.

I have signed up for Wyndham By Request, and have received 2 emails from the management. A very pleasant person by the name of Wendy. She told me if there is anything at all I need to request, to just let her know.

We will be there Sept. 20 through 27th.

I hope everyone enjoys! And please, feedback when you get back! (I see cinamin is there now!:bounce: )

WOW! How did you get such a good rate? The regular rate on those 2 bedrooms are usually starting at $400/night. The bathrooms have jacuzzi tubs!
I work at Wyndham and even I cannot get such a good rate on those 2 bedrooms. The employee rate is $162 per night on those rooms!
You will enjoy it, the resort is BEAUTIFUL!!!

The $88.90 rate for a 2 bedroom villla is from www.hotelkingdom.com. I booked this rate for the first week of November.

I found this place on hotelkingdom thru Travelaxe. They still have this going rate of $88.90 for the 2 bedroom, at least for 12/3/03.
Yes, they are all 2 bath for these.
I always call they facility directly to ask questions. They are a couple of miles from MK.
Also FYI, they have free breakfast M-F, but not on weekend for free. This was a shopping point for me. We wanted a 2 bed, 2 bath location with free breakfast. Those few days are good enough for me, since they hotel price was so cheap, I still come out ahead buying breakfast for 2 days than staying at other locations that have 2 bed 2 bath with ALL DAYS free breakfast. Trust me, I researched the heck out of our trip.
