Hello!
Have a question for everyone. It seems a lot of you travel quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a nice hotel in Cleveland.
My DH and I have been trying to get a weekend away, and he wants to go to the Rock and roll hall of fame.
I can't lie, I want to go too!
I have only stayed at the Hampton Inn. It was nice, but for a weekend with my DH, I would like something a little nicer.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help!

There is a beautiful hotel in downtown Cleveland that is very old. Let me think a bit, and maybe I can remember the name. I stayed there once for a conference, and Cher was staying in the penthouse that night. We got to see her entourage, but not her. :(

well, duh. It was the Renaissance Hotel in Downtown Cleveland. It was pricey, but very beautiful. My friend and I kept walking around gawking at the marble, fountains, chandeliers, etc. Very nice place.

My sister lives at Quail Hollow and they have a beautiful resort there. If your DH likes to golf they have a great golf course and a pool that is pretty nice. Its about 1/2 hour from Cleveland in Concord.
If you want to stay downtown and money is no object the Ritz is great, attached to a shopping mall and walking distance to Gund Arena and Jacobs Field. If that's too pricey I would go to www.biddingfortravel.com. They have quite a few hotel DT that come up for very reasonable prices.
Sorry I don't stay in hotels in Cleveland since my sister lives there.

Thanks very much! I knew someone out there knew something about the hotels. I was just looking at the Renaissance hotel.
It is about the amount we were willing to spend.
I keep looking at some of the hotel.com things and they say 3 star hotels. I am not too sure who really rates these.
We have stayed in some that say 3 star when they should be 1/2 star.
Thanks for the help.

I am from the Cleveland area and if I had to pick a nice hotel in a convienient location, I'd definitely go with the Renaissance or the Ritz. They have the best locations.

I stayed at the Wyndham in Playhouse Square last June. It was very nice!

DW Sue and I stayed at the Renaissance several years ago at Christmastime. Even though it's only 20 minutes from our home, it was a nice, romantic getaway. Combined with a Mannheim Steamroller concert and the use of the hotel's limo for the trip to and from the venue, we had a wonderful time.

I used to go to the Renassiance all the time (it was called the Stouffer then). , it is a very beautiful hotel, and if you are lucky, you will bump into somone famous
DH bumped into Dikembe Mutumbo when he was playing for Denver.
(Our small little fledgling church, when we were first starting used to rent conference rooms there... at a DEEP discount rate!)

We stayed at the Residence Inn in downtown about 1 1/2 years ago for a Tae Kwon Do tournament. It was an older building but was quite nice. They gave us a full breakfast, as well as kitchen facilities and a living room with a separate bedroom. We had one of the students from our school with us, so it was nice having a separate room.
I think we paid about $75 a night. It was within walking distance of the convention center (where our tournament was) and a pretty nice mall. RNR hall of fame was a little far, but it was walkable if the weather was nice.
