View Full Version : Whoo Hoo - - I'm In! My Resale Went Through!

I just talked to my broker and she said Disney did not buy my contract back. That was fast because my contract was submitted to Disney on Feb. 14. BWV, here I come! Maybe all that pixie dust from the chat room the other night helped out...thanks to all of you!

Okay, here's the breakdown of my resale:

1. 150 BWV points, March Use Year.
2. 75 points banked from 2002, plus 150 on March 1, 2003.
3. I offered $71/pp, $1 more pp than the seller asked for because I had been reading about Disney buying back most resales priced at $70 and under.
4. If you add in the closing cost of $400, it makes the deal approx. $73.67/pp final price, comparable to buying BCV with Magical Beginnings.

Now we have to wait for the title search...at least we're past the biggest hurdle!

Thanks for the info JOC. I hope the dentist visit went well!

I am waiting on my own BWV resale that went to Disney two weeks ago and hope to hear about it soon. I offered a bit less than you and am hopeful about it.

Congrats and Welcome Home!
I'm so happy your resale went through.

02-25-2003, 04:58 PM
You said your contract went to Disney two weeks ago...I wonder what's taking yours so long? Although I am surprised mine came back so quickly as most people have been posting 2-3 week waits. I hope you get yours also!

02-25-2003, 06:10 PM

It is my understanding that Disney reviews the contracts once a week (Wednesdays, I think I read). It is possible mine did not get there quite as quickly as yours-- or maybe Disney likes you better!!

I will post the details of my resale after hearing from Disney to let others here know.

02-25-2003, 07:22 PM
I hardly think Disney liked me better...if that's the case, I should have gotten at least a 50% discount on my points! :p
I went through Jaki ***** and she's great -- I made an offer on Feb. 13, it was accepted on Feb. 14, she sent the paperwork to Disney on Feb. 15, and she got an e-mail back from Disney early this afternoon. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!:earsgirl:

Well now maybe I should be just a bit jealous of you JOC, as my paperwork was at closing office on Feb 12. Maybe they did not get it to Disney quite so quickly.
I will wait my turn and hope for the best, probably will know in a few days.
Best of luck to you at BWV and I hope to be a fellow owner there soon!

I'm glad that yours went through! Congratulations and Welcome Home!

Congrats and Welcome Home. One more question, if you don't mind.......Did you reimburse for this year's dues?

I bought a VB resale last June/July and things are so different now. (DVC's price went up twice and they are buying back so much) I think I squeaked in when no one was looking. I'd like to add on.........not sure which way I'm going to do it though.

02-26-2003, 10:09 AM
I think it depends on how busy Disney is on how fast you can hear back on your resale. In Oct we had to wait 2 or 3 weeks to hear if Disney okay'd the resale, in Jan we heard the next week Disney had approved it. We paid $62 for both--no banked points but both had all 2003 points.

02-26-2003, 10:32 AM
I have a March use year; there are 75 banked points from 2002 and I get the full 150 for 2003 on March 1. I didn't have to reimburse the seller for dues on the 75 banked points. Seller also paid for Jan-March 2003 dues and I'm paying for the rest of the year (April-December). I'm glad mine went through, for whatever reason! Where do you own right now (Vero Beach and another resort)? I went through Jaki ***** for our resale and she's great!

02-26-2003, 10:40 AM
Thanks for the info. I did the same with dues on our contract last year.......started paying when we took it over as all 2002 points were there and didn't pay anything for the banked points. (we also split closing costs)

We only own at Vero Beach for now:D We're staying at BCV and VB in April. Friends of ours own at BW, VB and HH. We were their guests last year at BW and VB and when we came back, I started scouring the resale market.

Welcome HOme.....BWV.....that's my favorite...

Jaki told me that she thinks Disney is now looking more closely at contracts as far as who pays what (closing costs, maintenance fees, etc.). If the seller pays the closing costs, it would work out in Disney's favor because they get to exercise their ROFR and resell those points at a premium, plus they don't have to pay the closing costs. In my case, the seller would not pay closing costs, which wasn't a big deal to me. Jaki thought that the fact that the seller was paying for three months of dues would hurt me because it brought down the per point price, but it went through.

I also sent you a pm.
