The spring issue of Disney Magazine states that SSR "will contain apartment-style accommodations for DVC members and regular rooms for nonmembers." I hadn't heard that there would be regular rooms? Sorry if this is old news.

I thought SSR was supposed to be a dedicated DVC resort? This is the first I've heard that there will be regular rooms for nonmembers.

I hadn't heard it either but it actually seems like a plus to me especially if it's "deluxe" hotel rooms. Then I would expect room service which is a nice advantage I think.

Perhaps room rates will be lower than the cash rate for studios which will allow guests that may want to go on vacation with you to stay in the same resort, when not staying in the same DVC villa accomodation. Might be a plus, thanks for the heads up.

Just a thought--maybe they're referring to the bungalows, fairway villas, and treehouses, which are all still there.

That's what I was thinking cathy. They were not tearing those down to put villas on so it would make sense for those to be the non-dvc ones. They will prob rehab them in similar theming.:D

Perhaps that is what is being referred to although I wouldn't think of those as "rooms."

It doesn't make much sense. First, because non-members will be able to stay in the villas just like they do now at other DVC resorts. I know that they are building the resort for the members so they can buy pts. there but they made it sound like only members will be able to stay in these villas.

Secondly, when they said regular hotel rooms, I thought they maybe they just meant the studios and maybe the studios would have 2 queen beds.

Who knows?
