First, THANKS SO MUCH JODY !!!!! We are so excited about going back next year. We never thought that we would be doing a cruise again in such a short amount of time.
Glad that Brianna will be official this time for the Common Grounds. Both she and DS had a great time and are looking forward to returning.
I'll be counting down and checking the airfares.

I know that there are more than just our two families signed up for this cruise already (4/20-27 2002) so be sure to add your name to the thread. Are 'Sigafoos' and 'Infobahn' still out there? I haven't heard from you in awhile and was just wondering if you have decided to rebook for this date also? I thought that 'medotmom' had rebooked and also 'islandhoppers'??? I know it's almost 11 months away - but, it helps to pass the time by watching these boards.

Keep in Touch:p

Yes, you're right medotmom and family(myself, husband and 13 yr old son) will be on the Magic again on 4/20/02. Friday is the magic day to book our airfare and then I'm going to venture onto Priceline to try to find a hotel for the two nights before. Since we are renting a car this time, we may drive over to the port but we still have time to work that issue.

I thought I would not have an excuse to read these boards again, but I can't stay away.

Jody, glad that you posted this - we'll be able to watch it for the next 10 months.

Son Eric spent lots of time in Common Grounds this year and I'm sure he will do the same allowing husband and I plenty of time to veg on the deck. Eric says it is the best vacation because he does have to hang around with the old boring parents - however, we like to be boring and just do nothing. Great vacation for everyone!!

Hi!

We rebooked before we had even received the letters and we just purchased our airline tickets last week. I had my heart set on flying into Melbourne again and decided not to wait any longer.

Now we just have to wait another 9 months!

We are still hoping to go in April but we don't know what my husbands job situation will be. He is in the process of changing employment and April may be too son for vacation with a new company! Perhaps a week off without pay may be in order, who knows;) My son Sean insists that is the only week we can go so he can see his friends again! We will try our best.

Wow, I only missed one day on these boards! Imagine my surprise to see all these replies. A big HELLO to all - I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations.

My kids will be back to school in less than 4 weeks - the summer vacation just went way to fast. The good news is that when they go back to school it will be even closer to our April sailing! We were just on a weeks vacation at my parents summer home at the beach. I got up and cooked breakfast most mornings, and even prepared a few lunches and dinner - and ofcourse the dishes and laundry too as well as straightening up throughout the day. It made me even more anxious for another "real" vacation where even "MOM" can be pampered! After going on a cruise, no other vacation will seem like a "true vacation" again!

JoAnn - we will have to be sure to "meet" on the cruise this year! Somehow I think we missed meeting each other before.

Kim - That would be great if your family goes again! Maybe Ashley and Shelby could start to email ahead of time and become better aquainted before the cruise. Shelby is just so shy and has a hard time "hooking-up" with friends easily.

Jill - Oh those wonderful lounge chairs on deck 4.......

Camille - are you still out there? Less than 9 months and we will be in those secret "honeymoon" porthole rooms! I cannot wait!! What a way to celebrate hubby and my 20th anniversary!

Keep in Touch everyone!

Hello
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Just finished my Summer session class and now have some time to focus on things that have been left undone.

We did not go on a "real" vacation this summer but it is still flying by. You are right Jody -- nothing beats a cruise for Mom's vacation. Joe is getting better at driving and is testing mid month. Brianna has been babysitting here and there. She actually had two "jobs" back to back today.

April seems so far away but it is nice to have something to look forward to. And this time, we'll know the ropes. We are planning to try to get reservations for Palo's and pack much lighter.

Keep in touch!
Camille

HELP! We had a bunch of newbies post on our thread for the 4/20 cruise, and it appears that some posts were 'lost' while the boards were down. PLEASE post again, and tell us a little about yourselves.

Glad that the boards are back up!!
Before they went down, someone had posted that they would be on he 4/20 cruise with a 13 yr old DS. We will also be there with our 14 yr old DS and would like to hear from you. Please post again so that I can get in touch.

Thanks wovenwonder for starting this back up.

Siagfoos - my son mentioned this am that he hoped you and your family, especially Sean, would be there again. Any hope?

Also, a family with a son named Brendan was on last year's sailing - my son Eric wants to get back in touch with you. Are you going to join us on the ship on 4/20?

Looking out my back window this morning and seeing the snow makes me want April to come quickly!!

It's nice to see a familiar face (:D ) here on the boards again!!

msmicky and Dodie,
Welcome to the DIS Boards - and especially a BIG welcome to 'our thread'. Plan to spend the weekend reading the threads on this board and ask any detailed questions which you might have! I will also recommend some of my favorite websites that are dedicated to the Disney Cruise:

The first two sites, are two of my favorites!
www.*****************
www.dcltribute.com

The “Magical Disney Cruise Guide” contains pages upon pages of very valuable information – and it can be printed out also!

http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/entropym/pages/

I LOVE the next site to see lots of pictures of both the Magic and the Wonder:

http://home.att.net/~pete-williams/magic/magic.htm

And finally, when we returned from our last sailing in April 2001 I wrote up lots of notes to remember for our next trip, as well as some things for friends of ours to read - who had never cruised Disney before. I now have this list posted on the cruise critic message boards --- here is the link:

http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=767097554&m=5023041383

We will look forward to meeting you on the 4/20 cruise! Check back here often to look for newbies. And feel free to email me if you have any specific questions.

Husband and 10yr DD going on 4-20 Magic cruise. DD 1st cruise ! Res. late seating for dinner.so as not to be rushed. Are there usually children this age at the late seating? April is getting closer and getting anxious about all the decisions we need to make. Excursions, what to pack, what dining rotation is better! love this forum, but so much to know. Please tell me i'm needlessly worried! (I'm driving hus crazy)

Hi,
My name is Jan and my husband and I along with my daughter and her family will be on the April 20th cruise on the Magic! It is
our first Disney Cruise and my daughters family first cruise ever.
My husband and I are in our early 50's and have three beautiful
granddaughters that will be with us on the cruise. They are
Emma who is 2, Sadie who will be 4 on April 20th and Abigayle
who will be 6 on May 20th. My daughter Shelley and her husband
Sean are in their late 20's. We have late dinner seating and
can not wait to go on this magical vacation! My husband and I
have cruised on two other cruises. One was on Carnival's
Imagination and the other was on Celebrity's Century. Last year
was our 30th Wedding Anniversary and we went to Aruba. We
have also been to Sandals in Jamaica. We love the Carribean!
Hope to make some new friends.

Glad to hear from so many 4/20 cruisers. I can't believe that we will be on the plane in 2 months. We're flying in on Thursday night and spending Friday at MGM. We love the Tower of Terror and plan to ride it as much as possible. We will also try to hit all our favorites in one day. We may be exhausted but on Sat, I'll be plopping myself down in one of those lwonderful chairs on deck 4 - see you there wovenwonder!! Now, I just need to keep on working to fit into my spring/summer clothes. Here in New England it is easy to hide under sweats.
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

medotmom,
Oh YES, that was one place that we could always count on running in to each other last year! (those comfy blue cushioned loungers on deck#4);) - Hmmmm, that might be a nice quiet place for a DIS meet this year. I was also thinking maybe the 'secret' Deck#7 AFT area. Any other suggestions?

Hi! I'm new and going on our first Disney Cruise!! My hubby and 5 year old son are sooooo ready to go! Are there any other 5 year olds going? Also our plane trip home our flight does not leave until 6pm not sure what to do for the day any suggestions?
we will have all that luggage also.

wovenwonder
02-22-2002, 04:46 PM
Hi Laurelann and family!!

With a late flight, you would actually have time to rent a car (Avis is near the port). Store your luggage in the rental car trunk and head on over to Magic Kingdom or one of the other parks. It is also just fun to hang out at the Disney Village Marketplace/Pleasure Island. Have lunch or Dinner over in that area at Planet Hollywood or the Rain Forrest Cafe. There's ALOT to do with that much extra time on your hands. If you have disney transfers booked, I would consider cancelling them and renting the car for probably about the same cost.

Hello Everyone

Just a few short weeks until we sail. Can't wait.

I want to thank Jody for all the cruise information she has shared. She truly is an "expert" and has made my life easier. I just have to click on to her threads and there is anything and everything one needs to know about 'the cruise.' I especially like the "lists."

Jody, maybe we'll see you whizzing down 95 -- otherwise in Cocoa Beach.

wovenwonder
02-26-2002, 08:12 AM
Welcome to all of our newcomers! Our list is steadily growing. I will look forward to the new families to be posting on our thread soon.

BHNJ and wovenwonder's families are spending the night before the cruise at the Hampton Inn in Cocoa Beach. We are planning on making a DIS Sign on friday night. So look for us to be holding our sign in the port saturday morning as well as at all of our DIS meets. We will schedule our first 'meet' on deck#10 overlooking the deck#9 sailaway party, saturday after the safety drill. Look for our group sign!!

Any other ideas for 'meets'? How would you feel about meeting at a scheduled time at the 'secret' deck #7 AFT area? This would be a more secluded/quiet place where we could have some time to get to know each other. We could order cheese, crackers, etc from room service to enjoy together. I'm open for suggestions!!

I was also trying to think of ways -- other than the traditional lime green ribbons - for identifying each other the first couple of days on the ship. How about lime green 'dis pins' which I would be willing to make. Another idea was purchasing inexpensive lime green lanyards as a group -- and hanging our 'usernames' from the lanyard for the first day or so. This could double up as use to hold our KTTWC's! Please provide your input to let me know if you like any of these ideas -- also feel free to please provide other ideas. UPDATE - I found a website where I could purchase lanyards with cases to attach to hold our room keys, id's, etc. It looks like I could get them for around $2 each. Just checking who would be interested in this?? I have emailed the company asking for a sample to be sure the quality is pretty good. I'll let you know how I make out! (BHNJ also came up with the idea of lime green leis - which we could purchase in bulk ahead of time and send to everyone!).

'Bookmark' this page, and check back often for 'updates' as we get closer to our sailing!
:)

Just thought I'd stop by and let you all know how jealous I am:smooth: We were on the 4/21 cruise with a lot of you last year-- we decided to rebook for April 2003, but wish it was this year :( I wish you all a great cruise... and may you all see Castaway Cay!! A couple that we met on the cruise just returned and had an uneventful sailing and sent us proof that they actually made it to Castaway :) Bon Voyage!

Hi everyone! I'm brand new to the boards. We'll be sailing on the 4/20/02 Magic too. Wovenwonder- thanks for including us in the list! The links you gave are great! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

We are from New York State. We are driving to FL leaving Thursday afternoon. We'll hopefully be arriving by Friday PM.
We will have a TV/video player for our minivan. The kids can even play playstation on it. That will be a lifesaver!! I'm not sure where we will stay in Port Canaveral, but I will check out roomsaver.com. As far as packing unusual items, I'll probably pack my whole medicine cabinet. Our first trip to WDW my then 5 yo daughter came down with chicken pox on day 2!! They wouldn't let us on the plane, so we had to rent a car and drive home 5 days early. Last year on Carnival's Sensation, my son
came down with fifth's disease on day one!! He wasn't contagious by then but you have to avoid the sun. It's impossible! We had a great time anyway!! I'm just wondering what they will come up with on this trip!!!LOL Liz & family:)

A great big welcome to chickabug and EVee!

We are staying friday night at the Hampton with BHNJ's family. We received a really good rate with a coupon of $69 - and that included FREE breakfast too. Email me, if you'd like me to forward you the discount information.

I know how great it is to coorespond with others that have kids the same age as yours. Or others that will also be traveling with parents/grandparents. And even others that will be traveling without children.

I'd be happy to list email addresses on our opening post of this thread - after user names if you'd like me to. Or, if you'd prefer not to list your email addy on the board, but would like me to hook you up with another family via email, I'd also be happy to do so.

Please email me at my addy listed below, to let me know if you'd like your email address posted on our opening topic and/or if you'd like me to make your email address available to others on 'our thread' who request it.

Email addresses are listed on the first post in this thread!

Hi fellow cruisers,
I've been reading the posts everyday at work but can't post. Finally had a chance tonight to get on at home. Tues night we were at the Fleet Center in Boston with 14 ds watching WWF Smackdown. Not my favorite thing but Eric rated it "excellent" Last night it was off to Weight Watchers and a wake at a funeral home. Anyway, here are my answers to the post that Jody (isn't she great?) started.

We live in Southern NH.

We are flying into Orlando on Thurs, 18 April and staying at the Courtyard by Marriott in DTD. Friday, we'll start at MGM with TOT and then make a marathon day of all our favorites.

Packing: need to remember hubby's ESPN beer mug from last year and also ziploc bags to bring home some of those wonderful chocolate chip cookies (weight watcher points = zero!!)

Cruised before: yes.
1987 - Big Red Boat (I was pregnant then and did not know it at the time

2 trips on RCI - Grandeur and Enchantment.

April 2001 - Disney Magic 7 Day

that's about it. See everyone soon.

And BHNJ and I (Camille and Jody) are trying to put together a MAGICal sailaway party for our group!

We are ordering green leis for the sailaway party! Have your family wear them when registering at the port and the entire first day up until the sailaway party. This will be an easy way for us to recognize others who are also part of our DIS Family! I would be happy to mail enough leis for each member of your cruise family ahead of time -- just email me your mailing address and I will drop them in the mail. Also, remember to watch for our DIS Sign in the port and on Deck #10 during the sailaway celebration!

wovenwonder

You will see many people on the ship wearing lanyards with attached clear flat plastic holders to carry their KTTWC's and other identification. Why carry a wallet or pocketbook when you don't need any cash on board the ship! I have another DIS group that may be interested in purchasing lanyards bulk with our group to get a really great price! I was able to find a contact where we can get lanyards with the swivel hook and attached card holders for around $2 each which would include shipping to you ahead of time. I would have them shipped here bulk. Then I would like to make cards to insert in the front of each card case with our cruise date, year on it and the families DIS username -- and maybe even some sort of ship logo. They would make a great souvenier PLUS a wonderful way for us to recognize each other from our DIS family during the week on board the ship. Please email me to let me know if your family would be interested in participating in this group purchase. I'll let you know what kind of a response I get on it.

Thanks!
:)

Hi,

We are looking forward to this cruise very much. We made the reservations last March and have been counting the days since. We joined the DVC in 96 and kept toying with the idea of using our points for the cruise but love WDW so much we just couldn’t seem to give it up for a year (or 2). Decided to fork up the cash and pay real bucks for this vacation (not that we don’t spend a lot each year at WDW even with our points). This will be our first cruise experience and know it will be a great one. Looking forward to hearing from others who will be sailing on this 4/20 magical boat ride.

First of all -- welcome to '3Disneyteers - Ken, Sheila, and Molly'! Second, I designed an insert for our lanyard. I emailed it to everyone who's email address that I had - BUT, I could not find myjeep93 and amykline's email addresses (sorry), please email me so I can forward a copy of my weekend email to you! I had an overwhelming response to the lanyards and it looks like most of our group will be wearing them! Don't forget about the leis too! Okay, back to 'business' and this weeks questions (copy and paste, then insert your answers):

Early or Late Dining?
We will be going the late route this year. Had early last year and felt VERY rushed - and felt like we missed out on too much of the afternoon.

Do you have any Palo plans?
We never did Dinner, but did the Brunch last year. It was very nice. I am thinking that maybe we'll just do the High Tea this year.

Are you looking forward to any Spa Luxuries?
maybe the rainforrest room for one day

Verandah, Porthole, or Non-View?
Non view our first two trips - BUT very excited to have one of those 'secret' porthole rooms for this year! Plus, we have two rooms -- so the kids will be in a seperate room - Yahoo!

Which deck will be your 'home for the week'?
Our 'room' will be on deck #5 -- BUT, I plan on parking my behind on the deck#4 loungers on a regular basis!

Early or Late Dining?
Just changed it today to the late seating. Being new to cruising we booked the early seating but after reading all these boards changed it today to late seating.

Do you have any Palo plans?
Plan on dinner one night (celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary) and also brunch - not sure when.

Are you looking forward to any Spa Luxuries?
maybe the rainforest room one day, contemplating the cabana masssage but not sure yet

Verandah, Porthole, or Non-View?
Porthole - category 7

Which deck will be your 'home for the week'?
We think it's deck #2 but our cabin number isn't syncing up with the category - guess I better check it out tomorrow.

Early or Late Dining?
Just us - no kids. We chose late dining in hopes of sitting with other adults.

Do you have any Palo plans?
I hope to get reservations for Sunday night and for brunch on one of the other sea days.

Are you looking forward to any Spa Luxuries?
I have never done this and it looks tempting.

Verandah, Porthole, or Non-View?
Porthole. A surprise upgrade to a verandah would be nice, but I know that probably won't happen, LOL!

Which deck will be your 'home for the week'?
Deck #2.

Hello everyone - here are my answers to this week's questions.
Early or Late Dining?
Late dining - did it last year and loved it. More time to snack in the afternoon and enjoying the hot tub while everyone else is dininig is wonderful.

Do you have any Palo plans?
We did dinner last year but I think we'll try for the champagne brunch hopefully for Sunday.

Are you looking forward to any Spa Luxuries?
doubt it

Verandah, Porthole, or Non-View?
We were in Cat 9 last year but with our 1/2 off deal for this year, I booked a navigators verandah. Hope I don't spoil us for the next time as we probably won't spring for it the next time. Family does not know I've done it - can't wait to surprise them!

Which deck will be your 'home for the week'?
Deck 7 but we typically don't spend lots of time in our cabin. However, since this is the first time with a veranadah - who knows?

Until - April 20th -

EVee - I emailed you the link to the spa treatment list on Barb and Tony's website.

chickabug -- I would call DCL often to ask about being changed to the earlier seating -- as I know of even people just within our group who have switched from early to late --- this should have opened some spots in the earlier dining time.

I've heard from everyone in regards to the lanyards and the leis except myjeep93's family and Donna-Lee's large family group. I'll keep everyone updated as to expected delivery date, etc!
