Or do you have someone prepare them for you?
Were debating this year with buying the house, business expenses etc. Ive always done our own taxes but this year seems a bit daunting.
So how do you do it?

My DH does them every year. I am severly dyslexic with numbers (flip them way too much) and so I figure I am NOT a good person to be doing my own taxes. We just have the house and a few other things, but Luis seems to do a good job with them.

When my husband was "self employed", I did them. But when we incorporated our business, we turned ot over to an accountant. There are a lot of forms and different things that have to be done for a corporation, and I just don't have time to figure it all out. She does our personal ones, too, it's just easier since she has all of the stuff in her files.

I did it on H&R Block's website. It seemed relatively painless to me, but I do fill out the 1040 EZ with just the standard deduction (no itemization), so I think mine is pretty simple.

Ugh!
DW is a Realtor so we let a service handle ours - I'm too impatient to sit with her & go thru every phone bill & the shoebox of receipts each year! http://www.magictrips.com/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif

We have an accountant do it for us. DW is self employed so it's a lot easier and in most states it's deductible on next year's taxes so it will pay for itself. You should check to see if you can get it written off too.

I became "incorporated" several years ago (coupled with some real estate issues), so we turned to a CPA to cover all the contingencies.
Prior to that, I was confident enough to do my own.
Denise < --- deals with "numbers" every day, but DESPISES "legalese", so the added cost is well worth the peace of mind ;)
We have an accountant do it for us. With a home daycare business, the accontant knows much more than we will ever know as far as what deductions/depreciation/what not we are entitled to claim. It's well worth the $$'s spent. It's amazing what we claim on our taxes.

I do our own also, with online programs. I did it at 2 different places this year just to double check but, after all, it's based on what I enter so, if I forget at both, it comes out the same anyway. For a couple years I did get an accountant when we had rental property and, when we sold it and bought a single family.

Yes, with TurboTax Home and Business. I used to have an accountant when I had some complicated tax situations but do not have the need now. TurboTax has been very easy and perfect for my situation, as I am self-employed. And it's WAY cheaper than the accountant was. :)

Yep, I do ours (along with three or four other family member's taxes). :)

When I was taking accounting classes in college, I'd always say that I was going to marry an accountant, so I wouldn't have to know all of the GAAP or FASBE rules. Guess what? I married an accountant. DH was in public accounting for about 5 years or so before he started in banking. He still does many other people's taxes on the side and ours. I handle keeping everything together all year, so it makes it easier for him come tax time.
I know he's good at it because when he was getting his MBA, he was taking a tax class. On the first night, he let the prof go through a whole tax scenario and then said that maybe the prof was right, but that's not how he would do it. The prof asked him what he'd do differently, and my DH was right and the prof was wrong. He got to do a project outside of class instead of having to go to each class and take the tests.:smooth:

We have always had an accountant do our taxes. I was thinking about doing them, but DH's business is way too complicated.
Too many properties and depriciation, deductions etc..
