My fiancee and I are getting married at Disney World in September of this year. My fiancee's parents have never been to Disney World and I am excited for their first experience!
However, my future father in law can have difficulty moving quickly at times. My concerns are the rides that have the moving floors before you get on a ride (like Spaceship Earth, The Haunted Mansion, etc.) He doesn't need a wheelchair, but I could see him having a difficult time going from the stationary floor to the moving floor to the actual attraction "car".
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks! :p

They can actually stop the ride in order for him to load when needed. Just let them know and they'll take care of it. You'll see the CM's with things that look like garage door openers hanging around their necks--that's pretty much what they are--they stop and start the ride.

They can slow down or stop all of the rides with moving walkways except for Peter pan (that can only be stopped in an emergency). He will need to board at the exit for those rides in order to have the CM stop/slow the rides. boarding at the exit also gives a little extra time for boarding (plus no one else is boarding there). He can request a Guest Assistance Card at Guest Services in any of the parks to allow him to use the wheelchair entrance for those rides (if he had a wheelchair, he would not need any special card).
Here's a link to a post about boarding moving walkway rides. (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=273092&highlight=boarding+AND+walkway)

Definitely get a GAC, and be sure to explain your needs to the greeter at the entrance of each attraction with an omnimover-type ride system. The CMs have specific guidelines to follow regarding stopping the ride systems, so you may have to wait a bit longer, and as Sue mentioned, stops can only be done at the unload area. This means that you will miss the pre-show area at Haunted Mansion (just a heads-up).
Congratulations, and have a great trip!
