Sam's CLub as a pair of Bell South FRS radios for $60 a pair. THey have multi channels and sub channels. I was looking at getting the Motorola 250 or 280 (don't know the difference between the 250s and the 280s) and they are much more expensive than the teenie Bell South ones. Does anyone have advice on these particular radios?
I used a friend's pair of Motorola 250s in WDW last March and August. Definitely have to have them for our winter trip.

There's another thread already in place about this. You may want to check in there:

Yeah I saw the other thread re: family radios, but I haven't seen anything on the Bell South ones. I will probably go with the Motorolas if no one knows anything about the Bell South FRS.

I think Bell South products tend to be on the shoddy side. Keep in mind that these products aren't actually made by the phone company Bell South, they are just labeled with their name. I work for Verizon Communications, and we rebrand Cidco products. They are not worth their prices, in my opinion. A lady who works at the WalMart return desk once told me that they had a tremendous amount of the Bell South FRS radios returned because they malfunctioned. Motorola products have a very good reputation, but are also very costly. I think Cobra is a good compromise. It's a well known reputable brand name, and the prices are not bad either. I purchased the Cobra 14 channel radios, with 38 sub channels. The antenna is nice too, since it flexes pretty good. I do wish I had gotten the ones with the rechargeable batteries and charger stand though.

I recently bought the ones from Sams Club. They just didn't work very well at all. Went to BJ's and they had Panasonic ones that were $59.99, a piece, but had a $30. mail in rebate on them, they work Great I think farther than the two mile radius specified.
Definitely buy the Motorola brand radios. It is a better product...we use them at work.

Bought a pair of these from Sam's Club a couple of days ago, we have charged teh batteries for the 7 hours recommended, and the battery power still doesn't show fully charged. We tried them out today they cut out within less than 3/10 of a mile that is a far shot from the 2 miles the were supposed to pick up. We will be making the 1 1/2 hours drive back to Sam's to return them.
