I have read about Florida residents discounts at various times here.
I remember that it is usually for the slower months, like October / November. I have also seen people reporting June - August (HOT months).
What months / sailings does Disney typically offer Florida residents discounts?
Is there a pattern, or do they look at unreserved space and then fill the ship with discounted fares?
What is the best way for me to check availability of vacant rooms online?
Anyone care to speculate if they would be available for June 2003?
When and how do they announce a discount program?
Thanks for the help!
just give disney cruise line a call and ask which sailings are eligible for the florida resident discount... they usually come out 2 months before the discounted sailing date.

Hi there,
Resident discounts usually come out 2-3 months prior to sailing/traveling dates. In my experience (as a traveler who likes to do research, not an agent) they are rarely offered in the "peak season" which is early to mid June through August. At other times it varies, some cabin categories will be offered and not others. Cats 9-11 seem to be common, I think they add others based on bookings. On our January sailing, the category 6 I was booked in was not participating, but category 5 was, so I moved "up" and got a discount.
If you need to travel at a certain time, your best bet is to book the sailing you want and hope resident rates come out. Disney will adjust your price at that time. June is iffy, but the first week is your best bet. If you don't care when you go, book off-season for your best chance or wait until resident rates are released and book then. You can also check current resident rates at www.*************.com.
HTH :)

For our March cruise we booked thru All Seasons Travel. We saved $ by using them rather than going directly thru Disney although you do get the Fl resident special booking thru Disney direct - just saved even more thru the travel agent. We also got the Fl resident special 2 years ago (booked that one directly with Disney) for the 7 day on the Magic and that cruise was the first week of June.

You guys are the greatest! We had a cruise booked on the Magic for June 7th (my 40th birthday). After reading this post, I realized that my son's spring break is included in the Florida Residents special. We changed our cruise today to March 22nd and saved $1800.00!!!!! For that amount of money, I can go on the cruise now and still get a NICE 40th birthday present.:Pinkbounc

Yes, it is a great deal! We originally were planning on June also to celebrate our oldest son's high school grad but changed to spring break in March due to the savings - we'll just celebrate early! :)
