Belle 90210 is my DD16. I think a meet would be great. If I counted correctly the are 30 adults, 12 teens and 14 children so far. When and Where?

Bumping up. As far as DIS meet is concerned today I talked with Padre disney (Bev) and we thought before the Sail-a-way party? On the eastern route you start out with 2 full days at sea on the western the first full day is Key West. If we meet right before the Sail-a-way we will get to see what we all look like before the cruise begins. I can't remember the time for the party. Is it 4:30? I thought it started right after the safety drill. I was thinking by the Goofy pool only starboard (right) side by the windows so when the ship pulls out we can watch the cast members left behind waving to us with their Mickey hands. What do you all think of that? I also thought it would be a good idea if we each printed this list out because you could write down any notes(room numbers). Kathy

You might want to consider the same location the next deck up from the Goofy pool. It gets pretty crowded down by the pool during the party. The next deck up from the pool deck affords a great view of the pool area as well as the terminal as the ship is pulling out.

Don't forget to bring your bubbles!

tecdavidt

Firefighter Mickey has suggested the DIS meet be held one deck above Goofy Pool and I think that is a great idea. So the DIS meet will be right before the sail-a-way party starboard (right) side of the Goofy pool but one deck above.

Yes LNaylor 863, I am tired of the cold and snow. Granted we haven't had much snow this winter in Des Moines but I am sick of it anyway! I want my palm trees and pretty flowers now. Cabin Fever has set in hard.

Just to let fellow 3/15 cruisers know that while my family has been on 4 DCL cruises we are not experts on DCL. I can answer some questions but I never have been to Palos, and I have never used the Spa. I also know nothing about Flounders since my Children are older. (22, 19, 19 and 10) Now the previous 4 cruises we did have the teen boys along so I am familiar with the teen programs. So after we meet each other and you choose to do Palos or the spa area please share what you think of these areas on the ship. Maybe someday I will try them! Kathy

:) Kathy, count us in for the meeting. We have been on 2 other DCL cruises and have used Palo's and the spa both times. Loved them both. These are two of the things we are looking forward to. DH and I really love the massage in the cabanna's at CC. It has been 3 years since we have gone but I might be able to answer some questions. I always thought I was an expert on Disney until I found these boards.:p

So, I need to tag my family with lime green ribbons? How big do they need to be? I am not sure where to apply the ribbon on DH, I sure he is not in to hair bows!

Padre Disney
02-27-2003, 02:49 PM
I just tied them to all our luggage. I thought it was silly but on our last trip I almost got into a fight with a man over my piece of luggage at the KC airport. I told him that I had tied a piece of lime green ribbon to my luggage and showed him. He looked at me like I was crazy and slowly let go of my bag. I waited to see if he had also used the same ribbon but he hadn't. Who knows how long he would have held onto my luggage if the ribbon had not been on it.
Also when we were ready to pick up our luggage at the port we were asked what deck we were on and directed towards a holding area for our deck. When I left the our group and headed for another area I was told I was wrong and that my luggage would not be in the area. I said yes it is cause I can see my ribbon. I knew it was ours cause I had wrapped each handle a special way.
In both cases my lime green ribbon has saved me lots of wasted time. I do not put it on each person. Nor does my DH want anything to do with it. I just have it on all our luggage. I only tie small pieces to back packs, purses or camera bags. It really helps us keep on eye on our things.
I did not see anyone with the lime ribbon on our last trip.

Hi! 2 adults and one 9 year old son can't wait for our sailing. This is my first post on the boards, but not on the ship. We also cruised the Eastern Caribbean on Magic last March 16th! Your postings have been invaluable in helping us get prepared for two years in a row now, and we can't wait to meet you all. See you at the Sailaway party--and by the way, stay off my teak deck chair on the Promenade....it's got my name on it!

I can tell trip time is almost here. I wake up at odd hours of the night and brain storm about everthing not to forget. We have been packing items for what seems like the last 4 months. We have went through each kids suitcase every weekend for the last month double & triple checking everything. On our last cruise our oldest daughter ended up leaving ALL of her nice dress up clothing at home. We thought since she was 16 she would have gotten everything. WRONG. We had to buy her more clothes in Nassua. This time I am triple checking everything she packs. Can't wait for the 12th.

bumping up! I am actually starting to put things out to pack. DH has checked through shorts to see what shape his were in. DD has done nothing but she was in high school play that finished Sat and has a research paper due friday so nothing will get done by her this week! Are all other high schoolers as busy? She really makes all of us look forward to her school breaks and on the Magic we will make to best of it!

I wish we could start packing. Our house is for sale so we have to keep it clean - for any short notice showings. So I can't have the suit cases laying around. We did go thru the kids summer clothes this last weekend to determine what still fits. Then took a little shopping trip to pick up a few items. I don't think I will be able to pack until the day before we leave. Figured I will just have to make a good list and check things off.

So much to get done before we leave - can't wait until we are on the boat and I can stop planning.

tecdavidt
03-03-2003, 01:07 PM
I have everything bought for the trip. Our daughter needed all new clothes, she just keeps growing! Oh well, she will be set for summer. The suitcases are out but not packed. I have a nice stash of dry cleaner bags to prevent wrinkles. I bought some packing folders to try. I have plenty of zip lock bags and the extension cord that I always bring just in case we need it.

Other items I am bringing: Lysol, 2 gel airfresheners for the bathrooms, dryer sheets to help get rid of any static in my clothes, clothespins (every cruise I forget to bring a few not this time) sticky lint roller to remove our dogs hair that always seems to make its way from our house to the ship!

Something we started about 3 weeks back, every night we take out the $1 bills out of our wallets and have started saving them for room service tip money. We also have a few $5's. It has been fun watching the pile grow. I know we could go to the bank but this is more fun watching the tip money pile grow. I take it everyone now has their docs and they are filled out. Kathy

I am so glad to see that we will have boys in the 7 to 9 range. My daughter is meeting all sorts of new friends on theese boards and I think my 8 year old son is feeling a little left out. Showing him the list really helped.

We did our pre-trip Target run last night so we are starting to fell the "magic" at our house.

We cannot wait to meet everyone.

My 13 year old is so excited. She has new friends from the boards and just found out today that another girl from her school will be on our cruise. She did say that the girl is only 12 and won't turn 13 until right after the cruise. Will she be able to get into the teen club?

Just curious as to what dinner seating everyone has. We have late. We had picked late when we made our reservations. When my in-laws decided to come along we asked for early but no luck. My father-in-law is one of those that is ready for bed by 8:00 p.m. when he is at home. We are hoping that he will be so busy that he won't even notice what time it is and be able to join us for dinner.

Did I mention that I am sick of snow.

My understanding is that kids that have a birthday within a month of the cruise that would put them in the next age group can opt to go in with that age group on the cruise. My son is planning to do this - he is 7 turning 8.

We also have late seating. We requested early but never made it off the wait list. It shouldn't be too bad - we sometime don't eat until 7 / 7:30 at home and with the time zone change I figured our kids can handle it. I know what you mean though with parents - mine always eat by 5 pm.

Hey, we just got a call from Disney telling us that they gave us an upgrade!!! From a category 6 to a category 4. We are getting a deluxe family stateroom that sleeps 5 on deck 8 instead of the deluxe stateroom that sleeps 4. Sweet!! The extra room will be nice!
From 268 sq ft. to 304 sq.ft.

This snow stuff is for the birds, Omaha just got 4 more inches this week. Yuck!

Congradulations on the up grade! We have the late seating, we had it last year and it worked great! DH just hurried with dessert to get to the common ground and DH and I took our time. It was nice not having to rush to be ready for dinner and the adult activities started just after dinner. Perfect seating for 2 adults and teen we felt we never missed any thing.

Nothwoods, I am so sorry. I hope your house sells soon.

Omahadave, I am a Nebraska native! I was born in Lincoln and lived there until 1978, when I got married and moved to Iowa. That was husband #1.
Now I have wonderful Dave as my husband! second time around to finally find my soul mate. We will be celebrating 12 years this year. I have to admit though, I am still a Husker!
Congrats on the upgrade. You'll enjoy the space.

PadreDisney, all you can do is hope they let her move up. Your daughter could always move down to be with her friend if they won't let her move up. We haven't had to deal with that situation. The future weathercast for here next Friday is in the 50's. Maybe we will come back to more Spring like weather.

One week I will be packing, almost done by this time. Kathy

I just missed you in Lincoln. I went to college there in 1980 (from Chicago originally), married an Omaha girl and still have not escaped yet...lol

Does anyone have an emergency number to leave at home? (Not that I can do anything about it from the islands). I am leaving a list of where I can be found just in case and have not found an emergency number that can get me a mesage onboard.

Thanks, Dave

Northwoods - sorry to hear about the sale falling through. Maybe something will happen before next week.

Padre Disney - we have late seating also. We had late the first time and early the second time and we liked the late seating better. My DD is one of the ones your daughter is talking to by email. My DD has really enjoyed it and can't wait to meet her. Hopefully they will let her friend move up that way maybe they can all hang out together.

Omahadave - there is a number in the passport to Magic that came in your cruise docs. I just looked it up and it is:
1-888-DC-AT-SEA. It says, "calls will be immediately transferred to the Guest's stateroom. Messages can be recorded via voice mail." Congrats on the upgrade. We will be on deck 8 also in cat 3 room.

Thanks for the number (like I want any employees to get ahold of me) but I'm sure they will try...lol

Shes's almost done packing, it's not like we will be wearing shorts in the snow around here anytime soon.

I was at the Mall of America last weekend in Minneapolis and tested our Walkie Talkies...what a smart purchase. It was much easier to track down my wife with the walkie talkies then to look for whichever store had a shoe sale going on!! I'm sure we will get a lot of use out of them on the boat and the islands.

We are flying down a day early and hitting 'Islands of Adventure', then a restful night at the Oceanfront Resort in Cocoa Beach before departing.

Look forward to seeing everyone on the boat.

We're on deck 6 and I cannot wait to get on that ship!!! Yes! We've got main seating and next Saturday cannot get here fast enough for me!!!!

I think I am just a little too excited about this cruise but I LOVE DISNEY STUFF!!!!!!! We took a 4 day cruise on the Wonder 2 years ago and I can't wait for next Saturday!! Oh....I already said that.

I forgot to mention our seating, we have main.

Omahadave, my husband Dave keeps in contact with his employees via email. It works great on the Disney ships. On the eastern route his cell phone worked in St. Thomas. I assume this route it will only work in Key West. During our Jan. cruise we were at the El Convento hotel in their courtyard bar and Dave answered a call from a client! The man had no idea Dave was in Old San Juan. Ahh, technology. Tell the employees, use email! Dave uses Outlook Web Access to the company exchange server. works great. Kathy

Omahadave - My husband owns a small business and cannot stand to be out of touch for a week. He used the internet on our last disney cruise and it worked great. He could not access his network or his home e-mail. He set up and e-mail account at yahoo mail so he knewhe could get in and it was perfect. I think they tried to call him a couple of times and never got through... No problem with me I feel like his partner goes on vacation with us he calls so much. Glad to hear about your upgrade we are also on deck 8. Northwoods we are keeping our fingers crossed for you!

I need so help! I am really conflicted about dinner seating. We had late dinner last time and loved the extra time to get ready but I felt like the kids were missing out on kids club activities. This time we have main seating and I am worried about being ready at 6:00pm and about the theatre being really crowed. HELP!! Can anyone give me some advice?

Thanks for the info on emails...I would almost prefer to be out of touch, there is nothing I can do if a job goes wrong until I get back anyway! If they can't get ahold of me they may show some ingenuity and trouble shoot for themselves.

This will be our third cruise with Disney and we have always done early seating. It works well for us, we have no problem seeing the shows we want and seating has never been an issue (to be honest we have seen them all and will probably miss some of them on this trip anyway). We just drop the kids back at the club after the show or instead of the show and go hit a party or nightclub or stroll around with a couple of drinks on the upper deck. They would much rather be at the club then with us old folks anyway...lol.

I'm afraid if we did late seating the kids would be ready for bed with a full stomach instead of wound up in the late show and ready for a few more hours of fun in the clubs (thus giving mom and dad more fun at night).

Hello March15 cruisers,
this is Shirley and just wanted you each to know that I will be in Key West when the Magic gets there - I hope to meet up with the Magic when it gets to Mallory Square - if I can be of any help, just call me on my cell at 321-508-2246 - I still have pamplets etc that will help you while you are down there or if there are any questions as to what to do or where to go.
I hope that your cruise is the best yet.
Have a safe trip as you start on your journey down.
God bless each and all

Thank you Shirley! Hope the weather is nice in Key West. We have been hit with cold temps and snow this past week in the midwest. We need warmth, sun shine and palm trees :D

Just think, in one week some of our group will be in Florida and some of us will be in the air heading towards Orlando and some of us will be in our cars heading toward Orlando! According to our weather forecast for next week, more normal temps a little snow but not much. Looking good for travel. Kathy

March 15th Western Cruisers:

Posting from lovely Cozumel, Mexico. The Magic departed late Wednesday with a great batch of people from this board. You guys are next! Hope to be able to meet some of you here on what I call "Magic Wednesday", March 19th.

If you have any Cozumel questions, I started a thread a while ago and it tends to stay on the top 3 pages. I know it's a long thread to plow through at this point, but it contains a wealth of information. We just want to make Cozumel your favorite port of the cruise!

Welcome, in advance, to Cozumel!

Northwoods, I am so sorry about the sale of your house. One week from today you will be on a beautiful ship with nothing to worry about but what to have for dessert. Tell the realtor not to show your house this week, and start packing! See you at the sailaway party, and think of this: When the ship comes back one week from today, it's coming for us!

Our 16 year old and your 17 year old are in this together! Lucky for us her play was last weekend but she is still doing catch up in her life to off set it. She had her reseach paper due yesterday and her application for NHS is due monday. She is babysitting during the day and tonight 2 really close friends are having a joint 17th birthday sleepover. She has not even seriously thought about packing though she did take the DCL Passporter with her when she left to baby sit this morning. I told her we are putting the large suitcases in the car Tuesday night. Her solution to unplanned packing will be to take too much I'm sure. Is the teenage boy as hard to deal with packing as a girl?

Need to get some last minute shopping done for the kids today - sandals / shorts. Trying to get all the other necessary things done before we go. I already cleaned out the frig - so now we need to eat everything we buy or eat out - no leftovers allowed. Got the taxes done. Just need to pack!!!

Our 15 1/2 year old son has been packed for over 2 months. I'm not kidding. We planned out the clothing list months ago and he packed it all up. Our 2 younger girls have done a great job and are ready. Must just be a teenage girl problem.
How about it Kathy were your teen boys good about packing on your other trips?

I can not believe your kids pack for themselves. I cannot even get my husband to pack for himself. The good news is I am a great packer. The bad news is the 50 lbs limit that Northwest has per bag. It means I will need more suitcases which I find REALLY annoying.

WE had about six inches of snow this morning so I am looking forward to the trip. I am also looking forward to meeting all of you. Participating on this Board has made the whole thing more fun!!

Girl scouting helped a great deal in teaching my daughter to pack for herself. She started with a list for weekends worked up to week trips, and spent a month in England a year ago. I must admit she did a better job of packing from about ages 10-13 than she has from 13-16, she seems to think more is better and getting her to unpack is a real pain. As for my husband, long, long ago I tried to pack for him trip and he lamented the wrong belt and hairdryer being packed so I said guess I am an incompentent packing your on your own from here and he has been ever since.

Hello all. Our teen boys did their own packing. What I did do was give them a print out list of how many casual days and dress up days. Then I gave them a list of what to pack: dress clothes, nice slacks, shorts, t-shirts, polos, swimsuit, sandals or tennis shoes, dress shoes and don't forget underwear and socks. Also bring your cologne, deorderant, shavers, toothbrush and what ever they were using for their hair products. What they did forget they bummed off Dad. Dave picks out his clothes but I fold them and put them in the suitcase. He knows I am picky about how the suitcase is packed.

Now I pack our daughter, age 10. Reading all of your posts about teen girls is preparing me for the future;) .

This weekend we are going to start pulling the clothes out that will be taking with us. I have 4 27" expandable suitcases that we will be taking with us. I use to take the large 30" and a couple smaller bags but with the new weight limit we'll do 4 smaller bags. One for each of us then one for dress clothes. But then maybe I should crosspack. Put some of everyones in each bag in case any bags are lost or delayed. Sounds like a good idea, read it on the board so it must be a great idea :D. I did see a picture from Wovenwonder on their over the door shoe holder. I'll have to get one the next time we go in a Cat. 6.

Well it sounds like we are all pumped! I know I need warmth, it is cold and damp here today. I feel colder today than when it is zero outside. Dave looked up Orlando's current temp 76°!!! Looking good for Friday. Can't wait until we all meet. That is what is great about this board, nice people helping each other out and when we get on the ship it is like we all ready know each other. I can here the ship's whistle now, "when you wish upon a star"

It must be a teenage girls thing because ours is packing like she is going away for 2 months! I asked her about everything she was packing and she told me she has to have it all including the 6 pairs of shoes!! I will definitely have to go thorough her suitcases while she is at school next week. I told her she better get packed this weekend because she has a variety show at school on Monday and Tuesday nights and we are leaving Wed at about 10am. I told her she will not have much time between now and then to get it done. While Mom :) is trying to pack everyone else and all the extra things we have to take. My DH said it sure looks like a bunch of stuff and I said it is all things that we will or might need. What would that do without me?;)

We had a little snow earlier and it sure is cold out so I am looking forward to warmth and sunshine.

Leilani,
Sounds like it is a good thing you're in a cat. 3. Your daughter will need the room for all of her shoes;) . I tend to overpack myself. I also am one who refuses to do laundry on vacation. I only rinse out food spills if needed. If you ever cruise in a lower cat. number better make sure you buy an over the door shoe holder:D . See you in 6 days. Kathy

I just updated the list. My short list isn't so short any more. The DIS has quite a few cruisers aboard March 15th! Hopefully we will all get to the meet. After reading the post from the DIS member who couldn't find the meet I hope we don't have the same problem. For the meet I will be in a bright lime green Fresh Produce shirt I bought in St. Thomas. My daughter will also have lime green on, probably her hat.

For those who don't know: DIS meet will be after the muster station drill, before the sail away party. Midship, starboard (right side), one deck above the Goofy pool. That way when the ship leaves we can see the terminal people waving with their Mickey hands! Bring your children.

If you have been lurking and will be on our cruise please post your name and we will add you to our growing list.

See you all in 5 Days. Kathy

Is lime green the color that everyone will be wearing?

Hey Kathy,

First of all I want to say thank you for keeping us all together and setting up a DIS meet.

I know I better go through my DD's things. She has two suitcases while the rest of us only have one. Go figure. When I started looking at all the suitcases plus DH's golf clubs last night I thought it is a good thing we are in a Cat 3, otherwise we would need another stateroom just to store the luggage.LOL I even called Happy Limo today and upgraded all three legs to a stretch limo because we were afraid we couldn't fit the luggage.;)

I am going to wash on Friday while we are at VWL because we have a washer and dryer in the room. That way everything will be clean for the cruise, but I am not washing on the cruise unless it is absolutely necessary.

I have a question that maybe someone here can answer. What do the men usually wear on the semi-formal night? Do some of them wear their tuxedo again, just a suit with tie, or just a jacket?

Welcome to the new Disers who are also going on the cruise. See all of you on Saturday.

BeeSkip, it has been a tradition of the DIS board for lime green to be worn by members, either clothes or ribbons. You don't have to wear lime green if you don't want to. I just thought I'd better do something to say to people hey overhere is the meet. Maybe who ever picked lime green decided it was a good stand out color?

Leilani, my husband wears the tux for formal night and a suit for semi-formal night. One cruise he forgot the suit and wore the tux twice. Strech limo, hm, I wonder if that is what my husband reserved for us? I need to remind him to double check with Tiffany. Maybe we need Happy Limo instead. Kathy

Kathy,

Yeah we went with Happy Limo. I haven't ridden with them yet but they have been great to work with so far. I have called them to change the flight arrival time, change our pick-up time on Sat twice, and now to upgrade to stretch for all three legs. Each time they just tell me everything is fine they will handle whatever I need and then they email me a new confirmation. Hopefully the ride will be as great as the service so far. See you soon.

Hi guys. Wish I were going to be with you, but I wanted to let you know about a DISer CM that will be on your cruise! Remember DisneylandDarren and his posts from a back to back cruise a while ago? He liked the Magic so much, he got a job onboard! He's a riot. His first working cruise is that of this week so you all will be his 2nd. He's starting out as a server, so if you see a tall, brown haired English chap with a big wide grin, that would be Darren. Tell him that Lori and his DIS family say HI!
If any of you talk to him, please pop in on the following thread of his adoptive family, and tell us how he's doing!!! (how he ended up with 8 doting mothers, I don't know)

Roll Call. Oct.19,02 Cruisers Continued... - in the Community Board forum of The DIS Discussion Forums.

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to check in once more before we leave. Everything is just about packed. (Boy! It sure seems like we are taking the whole house LOL) We leave tomorrow morning to catch a 1:30pm flight into MCO. Two days of relaxing at WDW ;) before we head to that "Magical" ship on Saturday. I hope everyone has a safe trip down and we will hopefully see all on Saturday afternoon.

Have a safe car trip Bev & Doug. See you Sat. on the ship if not before in the terminal bldg. I have been packing since yesterday, I think we need a stretch limo for luggage! Hopefully we will come back to warmer temps. Hard to believe past weekend was just above 0° and Friday the high could be 65°! The midwest is going to have a massive snow meltdown:bounce: Kathy

We are likewise out of here Thursday in the A.M. - spending Friday at Beach Club Villas relaxing at Stormalong Bay.

With any luck I'll be able to go stand-by with the family on their earlier flight, as my frequent flyer ticket currently has me going out 5 hours later (might cost me $100, but it will likely be worth it).

See y'all on the cruise!

See everyone soon. Our packing is almost complete. I'll be getting up at 3:30 AM tomorrow morning! I only do that for a cruise, I am not a morning person. Our weather is warming up so I am hopeful we will return to spring conditions verses what we have been having. I am looking forward to the DIS meet, I'll have my bright lime green t-shirt on. Kathy

tecdavidt - I don't think I could get by DH to be up at 3:30 am even for a cruise. Are you driving down?

We fly out tomorrow morning - staying at the Radisson Friday night.

We are flying down. Dave probably will get up at 4:30 am. It just takes me longer, for one thing, I move slow in the morning;) . Our plane takes off at 6:40 am from Des Moines so we need to be at the airport by 5:30 am.

I need to talk to Dave, our daughter is pushing to go to a park Friday afternoon. She loves the parks. I was thinking we would relax and maybe enjoy the Hyatt's pool.

ONE MORE NIGHT here and we are on our trip! It is finally here:Pinkbounc
