We are going to Florida for a week this summer and are going to go to Disney for 2 days during our vacation. I want to do a Character meal but I am not sure which one to do. I have been to the Character dinner at LTT and it was great. But I would also like to try somewhere else if it is good. What do you think LTT or HWandVine? Thanks for you help.

We have eaten at LTT several times and enjoyed it. Characters are only at dinner.
Only ate at H&V once and that was dinner. No characters then. Not sure about lunch. H&V is a buffet. Did the Fantasmic Dinner package there 2 years ago.
Maybe someone else can help more.

I have not been to LTT but I have been to H&V for breakfast and it was AWFUL!!!! We will never, ever go back to that place. Maybe it's different for dinner but I won't take that chance.

we have eaten at both ltt several times for lunch, the pot roast is good the kids meals are in the 5.00 range,if you check in before they open you may get chosen,as we did to "open the restraunt
its cute you get a magical moment for doing it.
hollywood and vine was a favorite in the past, but on our 1/03
trip we were not so thrilled maybe because it wasnt that busy
they had alot less offerings no more peel and eat shrimp also alot less salad items average buffet food for 2 adults,2 teens 1 child was around 100. servers were nice but made you feel very rushed

We had a great time at H&V this past Dec. The food was very good and the character interaction was outstanding. DW is not a big fan of buffets but she liked this one. However, there better be shrimp on the menu or she'll not be a happy camper. Hopefully tinksgirl's experience was just a bad day at H&V. We'll be eating there again next Tuesday.

OK - I hear both opinions - now to break them....
We love LTT for dinner. Chip & Dale are a hoot.
LTT is my DH favorite restaurant.
We love H&V for lunch. My DD loves Minne in her fancy clothes.
The buffet is nice. Nothing fancy - but my DD & DS like 'normal' food.
They would go to Bug-a-Boo steak house or Applebees before going to
a 5 star restaurant.
We are doing both again in May. :)

That's a tough one. I haven't done LTT and would like to.
We've done H&V at breakfast and lunch twice. While we enjoyed lunch both times breakfast was terrible.
Food is excellent at lunch and so is the character interaction. We had to wait 40 minutes til the first character showed up at breakfast, won't do that meal there again. But, at lunch they spent lots of time with 4 yr old dd. She is afraid of Pluto - he spent so much time trying to warm her up, he eventually got a hug from her!! (great Pluto!!)
As mentioned LTT has only a character dinner, and H&V has only character breakfast and lunch.
I do know LTT tends to be busier at dinner than H&V is at lunch and sometimes a longer wait, so that aside I bet either would be great. I would just make PS for both and see what fits in your schedule better once you get there:p

H and V was AWFUL!!! In fact, it is the only restaurant we will never return to. Haven't eaten at LTT but hope to try it soon !

We have eaten at Hollywood & Vine several times for lunch and dinner (but never breakfast) and liked it each time. We enjoy the food, always have good service and the character interaction is good. Keep in mind that the characters are not there at dinner time.
We haven't been to LTT but only because the menu doesn't appeal to us. We much prefer the Crystal Palace in MK if we want a character meal.

Yes, have been to H&V on almost every trip for breakfast and love it. It is one of our family traditions. Dinner though is another story- ate there in December and echo ugadog99's sentiment- only restaurant I will never eat at again.

We had the character breakfast at H&V this past June '02 and just loved everything about it.
First off, DW and I thought the 50's decore and style was outstanding. Attention to detail was phenomenal. The 50's cafe that is attached was a hoot to stroll through after breakfast (see our pictures at : http://community.webtv.net/sktracy )
The character interaction was outstanding, lots of attention to DD5 and DW and I. They came around three times each. Minnie and Pluto do a heck of a dance that everyone loved. Very fun to watch.
I thought the food was more than outstanding. I love a buffet but I really go nuts when they have the selection H&V has. You name it, it's there! Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, pancakes, Mickey waffles, toast of every kind, fruit of every kind, bagels and lox, cereals, milks, juices of every flavor, even steak to go with your eggs, and omlettes of several variations. What more could you possible ask for in a breakfast? We loaded up and didn't eat again until dinner!
I would recommend the character breakfast highly.
The wait staff was funny (in a 50's kind of way, chewing gum, telling you to keep your elbows off the table) and very prompt and attentive.

Thanks mm6mm6 for the thumbs up!!! I'm just needing reassurance about just about everything these days. My countdown is getting closer and I'm beginning to worry that I am expecting too much and getting my hopes up to high. I have planned and planned till I can plan no more. I love these boards but sometimes I get scared from some of the info that I read. I have saved for sooo long for this trip and want so much from it that I'm almost afraid of it now....lol I'm a worrier and this trip is starting to worry me! I know calm down, take a deep breath and just think...It's DISNEY! ENJOY! That's my mantra for the next 37 days!!!!

If you've already done LTT I would try something different.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to my thread. I greatly appreciate all of the input. I love this board the people are so good about responding. Although, I still don't know which place I am going to choose. It seems that H&V has not impressed that many people. And I have been to the character dinner at LTT. It was to die for. Both food and character wise. Thanks again and keep the information coming. Anybody else want to say anything about H&V????

We FAR prefer the character lunch at Hollywood and Vine! The food is amazing... a great selection, great service, and the characters are fantastic. We have never encountered as good a character interaction at any other character venue. It is upbeat and lively. The characters are always around, and the swingdance with Goofy and Minnie is so much fun. The other characters get the kids up to dance... and a good time is had by all. Since you have already eaten at LTT, give this place a try. You won't be sorry!!!!

We really enjoy the lunch at H&V. We do a PS at 11:30 that way we can have both breakfast and lunch. The character interaction is always great at this time. The food is really good too:D I love their red velvet cake.

Just wanted to input another opinion - We have 3 favorite character meals when we visit WDW:
- Crystal Palace: Breakfast
- Hollywood & Vine: Lunch
- Liberty Tree Tavern: Dinner
These 3 are all unique in their own way & we make sure to attend each one every visit to WDW. We have tried others, and while some were good, these 3 remain our favorite. I think the character interaction is the best at these 3 restaurants. I don't think you can go wrong picking either H&V or LTT.

we have done both several times and we like both, but do like H&V better! More selections available at H&V, and my ds6 loves minnie mouse!

We were SO disappointed with LTT. We had read all of the great things on this board, so when we made plans to meet up with some friends who have kids, we thought it would be perfect. It wasn't! The food reminded us of Stoffers food you can get out of the freezer section at the supermarket (I think the character meal is sponsered by Stoffers, so maybe that is why), and our server seemed as though he would rather be anywhere but there.
On an up note, the characters were great! Pluto was a terrific with the kids!
We may try it for lunch, but we will be going elsewhere for our character meals.
