I have heard on these boards that you use moleskin to keep from getting blisters. What is it, how do you use it and where can I find it.

Leaving on Friday! YEAH! I have bought batteries, film, sunscreen, sunglasses, Florida map (driving in), water shoes, gum, waterproof camera, and misty fans. Still looking for britta water bottles. What have I forgotten?

Thanks!

Moleskin is a Dr Scholl's item that you use to cover areas prone to blisters or use it to cover existing blisters in a doughnut shape cut out, scissors needed. It is like adding another layer of skin.

Another product to try is Spenco, Second Skin Gel Squares. I just found out about these from the school nurse and phys. ed. teacher this week. They are small blue gel squares that you place over a blister or sore area.

They told me they can be purchased in any pharmacy. They come in a beige jar, but I don't know how much they cost. All I know is that they took them for the class trip to Wash. DC this week, and they said they really work! :p

You must also buy the mesh adhesive to cover the blue film! Or the blue film will just fall off! I suppose you could use any kind of big bandage over it as well. But the spenco mesh adhesive is the only kind of bandage that stayed on for me while I walked a marathon. Yes, 26.2 miles! I know about blisters! find the spenco products at CVS or a sports/running store

If you do bring moleskin, be SURE to pack a small pair of scissors!!! You should have seen me one year trying to cut the big moleskin into smaller pieces with a wimpy plastic knife from the foodcourt!!!

Buy some cheap $1 or $2 ponchos at Walmart or Kmart. If you want to buy "Magic" ponchos they will cost a lot more.
