lruggiero:
We are staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. When I called a couple weeks ago there was only one room in all three of the hotels that could hold a family of 5 so we were lucky to get that. They said they have but can't guarantee connecting rooms. The Royal Pacific looked like a beautiful hotel. Which park are you going to do? Are you staying for more than one night?
Last year we skipped breakfast to get an early start home and were off the ship around 8:30. I think it is only an hour drive to Universal so I'm hoping we can be in the park close to openning time because I just learned they close at 5:30. Has anyone been to Universal and been able to do the park in one day with a front of the line pass?
We are also on deck 8, I have to check the paperwork for the exact number. It is getting so close and I am starting to get way too excited. I can't wait!

Sweetspot You will have plenty of time with a front of the line pass. We went at 10 last November and had evrything done by 6pm(which I believe was park closing. Just do the don't miss rides first.

Thank you for welcoming us Dis4me!
No we will not be attending MNSSHP. My kids are 10 and 11, they said they are not too interested and would rather spend that money on the cruise. I think they want more virgin drinks or to play at the arcade :)
We fly on the 27th... wasted day coming from California. We start our WDW vacation on the 28th staying at CSR.

Welcome to Dairyou-nice to see someone else making the trek from California!! It is a bummer to miss a whole day coming from here so we are going to take a red-eye on the 30th staying at the Polynesian and going to the MNSSHP on the 31st. We will be staying at CSR for one night after the cruise so you will have to give us some tips on your stay there.
Our cabin number is 6570. Looking forward to getting the docs and can't wait to hear about the changes that will be made during the dry dock. I'm sure someone on the first cruise after dry dock will post about it.

What is a "dry dock"?
Deb
Thumpersmom
09-11-2003, 02:00 PM
Dry Dock is when the ship goes in for routine maint. and things like carpet etc are changed. I think it last a couple of weeks and the Magic comes back mid-October.
From reading on the boards there will be a couple of changes in regards to the ESPN bar becoming the teen club and the teen club-Common Grounds becoming a coffee bar for everyone and one of the other night clubs is changing to a sports bar.
I'm sure the cruisers after the dry dock will let us know all of the changes before we arrive. :D

AND we are from NJ (WOOHOO, thank goodness for NJ week. DS just started K and will have 3 half days the beginning of that week...parent/teacher conferences and then the last two days off.)
tagall: We could do a costume thing with the kids and have them do a TorT at our doors for some candy and then have a little 'party' in the rooms? I could bring some munchies, etc. Maybe even those entertainment/maze/puzzle books from the dollar store? I know your kids are older, but would they like the puzzle/maze books?
With respect to walking on deck. I am up for 8/9am walk...but how is everyone else with that? If it needs to be altered, I am totally flexible. I have 4 kiddos (21 months to almost 6 years) so I am awake from about 6:30am on whether or not I want to be-LOL. We could meet by the forward elevators on Deck 4 (I believe that is by the theaters.).

Yes!!!!!! We will definitely be interested. My DD (5) is bumped about missing T or T so that will really make it up for her. If we are doing a T or T onboard I will bring her costume and the goodies for the kids.
Also, are there anyone out there interested in doing Coral World and/or Coki Beach on their own? If yes, maybe we can get a group together.
We are still waiting for our room number. Have late seating but waitlisted for main seating.

You've got our room number and we have late dining. If your walking earlier than 8 or 9, I may join you occasionally, but don't schedule around me. DH and I usually walk in the morning, but we like to be doing some of the offerred activities by around 9. I love the chipping contest (tied for first place last time - but lost in the playoffs :( ) No documents yet. What do you think the chances are I'll get documents for both cruises on the same day?:p I guess it's wishful thinking. I'll have to make two trips to the TA (oh, I suppose I could wait after the first ones come in until the second ones come in, but...this is me we're talking about;) )

We are going to Coki Beach too. I didn't think we would bother with Coral World until I read reviews on it and it seems really nice. Hopefully, it's as easy to get there as it was to get to Megan's Bay last year.
Has anyone ever received the documents after they booked on thier own? How do they come? Do they have to be signed for? I can see myself not leaving the house for fear of missing them. It feels so much more real when you have those documents in your hands.

My girls will have theirs since we will be doing MNSSHP on October 30. THey will not be doing an T or T on Halloween. Last year they didn't either because we were flying that night, however we did get to MNSSHP On Nov 1 last year. We are up for anything.

We are doing both on our own. Actually DH and DD, 9, will be doing the SNUBA at Coral World in the morning. We have not gotten the confirmation on the time yet. I will have DD, 7, with me since she misses the age cut off for SNUBA by 5month. I figured we would walk around Coral World or head out to the beach.

DD (5) has been wanting the Sleeping Beauty dress from the Disney Store forever. She doesn't know it yet, but I bought it for her. I was going to have her wear it on formal night, but if they happen do T & T on board, she can wear it for that too. She is also going to wear a costume on the airplane for our flight down on October 31.
I am still undecided about excursions! I am thinking the Sea and See tour in St. Maarten, and Under Two Flags Tour in St. Thomas. I would love to do a scuba tour, but not sure how DD will do. I thought hubby and I could scuba at Castaway Cay if DD is in the club.
So far my dinner choice says "Open". I'm not sure what that means. I requested early seating each time I talk to my TA, so I guess it will be a surprise for us.

Ok folks, we did this last year and I'm open to doing it again. If you'll send me your pertinent info (listed below) I'll slap it into my spreadsheet from last year and send it out to everyone. It provides a nice "cheat-sheet" on the ship so you know who is where, when they're arriving, etc.
My e-mail:
cotchdc_99@yahoo.com
Information requested (just cut and paste this into the e-mail):
DIS Board name:
Real name:
Family names (ages) :
Stateroom number: (use 6xxx if you know the deck, but not the nubmer)
Others traveling with you: names
Others: stateroom numbers
Special events on the cruise: (birthdays, vow renewal, anniversary, etc.)
DIS board meet on Saturday 5-6: yes or no
Walking in a.m.: yes or no + time preferred
Dinner seating:
Arrival date for cruise: (you can indicate if you'll be at WDW or elsewhere for days before)
Night before cruise lodging:
Approximate arrival time:
Halloween ideas: (on ship or night before)
Your e-mail:
Excursions
St. Maarten:
St. Thomas:
Castaway:
Have I forgotten anything? Feel free to send it along as "special comments"
I'll update what I get this weekend and into early next week and set Monday p.m. as the first time to e-mail the current spreadsheet out to everyone on the list. Then, do you think weekly updates are best?

When we first booked the cruise, the DCL agent I spoke to said that she 'thought' they would have a T or T on board since the cruiseline figured many people were going to be missing out due to traveling, etc. Since you can never be POSITIVE this will occur, I was glad that our flight leaves later on Hallween eve so the kids could enjoy their school Halloween parades and parties...small consolation I know, but...WE'RE GOING ON A CRUISE-WOOHOO - :p . The kids would be THRILLED to do a DIS t or t if anyone else is up for that!
I am debating letting the kid stay in their costumes on the airplane (my youngest daughter is going to be Tinkerbell...it might be too scratchy to wear sitting on the plane). But I figure the kids will try to live in them the next day-LOL.
Sweetspot, so sorry I didn't realize you were bumped from the list!
Let me know what the general 'walk' concensus is and I can go at 7am up to whenever :D . It is just cool having some walking buddies!

hey everyone, I just filled out masonips information e-mail thingy, and am so excited again. i just can't wait.
I have a few questions for you vets out there....
-has anyone been to the casino on st. maarten, and if so, can you tell me how to get there, how far it is, easy or difficult, anything else to do in the vicinity, full day/half day, etc.
-has anyone done the rhino rider & snorkeling on st. maarteen?
Any feedback you have would be great.
-what is the availability of getting on and off the ship at the various ports if you are not on an excrusion?
I know i have more, just can't think at the moment.
debralisa- dd-Cassidy, would love to t&t at the hotel but my dh is thinking it might be kind of late. Our plane isn't scheduled to land until 10:42...and assuming it's on time and we get our luggage, and check in.....im thinking he might be right. Hopefully, we can pull off a T&T on-board if Disney doesn't officially sponser one. hopefully they will.
over and out for today. i'll be back (soon)

The best way to print at this time is to set it to landscape and fit to one page or do it on legal size paper.

Have you guys read the thread about planning a DISmeet? They are recommending to not do it on the first day because everyone is running around, getting settled in, etc. What do you guys think? Still the first day from 5-6, or maybe the next morning when things are a little more settled?

Last year was insane between the lifeboat drill, unpacking, making sure we had clothes for dinner, the sailaway, etc. Adding in the DIS meet is tough.
We could agree to wear the lime-green Mickey stickers the first night so if we see each other we can introduce ourselves and then move the actual meet to Sunday? I was going to suggest mid-late afternoon but that's semi-formal night (I think) so people might be busy thinking about getting dressed up or stuff.
Thoughts? Time suggestion? We're pretty much open

Last year we planned for lunch in Lumieres. It was nice because some people just stopped in during lunch to say hi and others joined in for lunch. Sunday is formal night so I agree it could be crazy late afternoon for everyone. Lunch or right after would work well (I have to enter the chipping contest at 9 and the Art of Entertaining is usually at 10 - I'm going to be so busy!!). We got our lime green Mickey heads to I think after the first day may be better. Or... we could do two. Those who are able to stop out on Saturday between 5-6 on deck 7 could do so. Those with late seating will have a little more time.

Last year we had the DISmeet right after the safety drill. Only one other person, not even her family, showed up. Everyone is so excited the first day. It's a half day, people are getting on the ship at all different times, arranging kids programs, reservations, getting unpacked and ready to enjoy dinner and shows. There are so many benefits to having the meet the first night, especially the kids knowing other kids before they start the clubs. Unfortunately, when people find once they are on the ship they are too busy to make it to that meet then we lose those benefits for the entire cruise. I think it is a great idea to wear our lime green Mickey pins the first day and schedule the Dismeet Sunday late morning, early afternoon.
Last year we were fortunate enough to run into another DIS family when we were at Palo. We laughed so hard that I was afraid they would throw us out. We ran into them all throughout the week and they ended up being one of the highlights of our cruise. I hope we are able to find a time that is good for everyone.

I have a few questions for those who have sailed before. When do you sign up for the Art of Entertaining and those adult activities. Is it always the same time on every cruise. I noticed that it was mentioned at 10 on Sunday. What else is offered and how will we know the times before we cruise or before we set up spa times, Palo brunch, etc.
Also, what is chipping??????
What name tags are we using? Disney Paint chips?
A Disney meet anytime is fine for us. We have late dinner seating. THe idea to have two may be beneficial, so all those who have late seating can possibly meet from 5-6 on Saturday, and any of the early seating that can make it. Then do late morning Sunday or lunch too.

You don't sign up for the Art of Entertaining, you just go to the "classes" when they are offered. Check out some of the past Navigators on ***************** or dcltribute.com. I know Dave has ones from VerandahMan's recent Eastern cruise. I think they usually have one in the morning and one in the afternoon on days at sea. The navigator series and behind the scenes was also good. It seems like they are scheduled pretty much the same time. You don't have to go to all of the "classes", just the ones you want. I went to cake decorating, food carving, making drinks. I missed quite a bit because of our brunch at Palos and leaving the ship on Wednesday. Chipping in what you do in golf when you are close to the green but not on it and need to get on it with a special club (a chipper - believe it or not). They set up a mat in the atrium and you chip ping pong balls with velcro to the mat for points.
Unfortunately unless you set up brunch during lunch, you may miss some of the activities offered. Take a look and see what's offered and when and you'll get a better idea.
I got my paint chips and am ready to travel. I'm getting nervous because I haven't gotten documents for my first cruise on 10/16 yet! :(

I am rolling with laughter here; I have been totally stressing out on trying to do more/it all this year. I look back at last year and although I thought I was prepared (thanks DIS boards) I didn't know half of what I know now and missed a ton of things. I must do the Art of Entertaining things this year. I want to do wine tasting, I can't miss brunch at Palo's and the seafood buffet on one of the lunch days. Last year I thought there was too much to do; this year I'm overwhelmed!
I'll look for lime Mickeys this weekend. We ended up meeting 2 other DIS Board folks while in line at the terminal and my DS knew "Andrew" going into the clubs; it was great. Luckily this time I know Savsawmom and Debralisa beforehand and our kids have all met - if you see three 30-ish moms with a ton of kids; it's got to be us!

SweetSpot-
We are only spending one night at Universal and when I booked, we were told that you could not book the Hard Rock for only 1 night. Yes the Royal Pacific looks very nice but they will probably regret having my son there (lol)
Anyway, I would have rather stayed at the Hard Rock
We plan on skipping breakfast and having a car waiting for us at the terminal for 8:30AM. The hotel guaranteed me that they would keep our luggage for us and give us the "key" or something like that which shows that you are staying at one of the three hotels on site and you get to go in the front of the lines.
We are getting the 2day pass because we purposely booked our return flight at 8:30PM so we could have 2 full days at Universal.
It's gonna be a long trip but I'm sure definitely worth it.

If you would rather stay at the Hard Rock you should call and see if you can change hotels. I called twice, within one hour, the first time there were no Hard Rock rooms, then they appeared. Rooms were appearing and disappearing from the reservationists screen really fast. After reading more I am glad we are at the Hard Rock because it appear that it is within close walking distance to Universal. I've also found that you can prebuy your tickets at AAA at a discounted rate. We also received a decent discount on our hotel room by using the AAA rate. The DIS Universal boards have been very helpful in finding discounts. I just signed up for a Loew's First card which provides for special treatment and is free.
I don't know how I ever travelled without the DIS boards help.

We had to get a kids suite (two hotel rooms, one exit door) because they couldn't guarantee adjoining rooms and I didn't want to take the chance. The price without AAA was $450.00 and with AAA $367.00 I think the Hard Rock is comparable or even less than the Royal Pacific.

Keith, I did use the computer to check e-mails about 3-4 times during the cruise (we were moving 500 miles two days after we got back and my MIL was ill at the time so I needed to check in with my parents as to any issues). The first day they had a 5 minutes for free (or something like that) special, so I quickly logged in and linked to my yahoo account. After that, I paid the $.75/minute and I think my total bill was about $8-9. They do offer the weekly rate of $89/week for unlimited use. You can also win packages or minutes at Bingo - NJFamily won a week's use while we were playing Bingo together.

IMPORTANT QUESTION RE: DOCS
Any info on a Halloween activity? Last year (10/26 cruise) in our welcoming letter it did say something about the Halloween stuff.

I've been through my PassPorter I can't tell you how many times, I've checked out the excursions and am addicted to these boards not to mention I've even started packing some things. I am sooo ready!
I've read somewhere that if you've boked through a TA that you may not receive your docs until 2 weeks before (something to do with the air arrangement)....oh please tell me it isn't so...I don't think I can wait that long!

we booked through DU, but so did savsawmom and she got hers! Per an e-mail, they were sent on 9/19 from Celebration, FL (she lives in Tampa) via UPS and no signature is required (different from last year, we had to sign for them via FedEx). She thinks they would have been delivered to her Mon, but she didn't put her work suite number.
So traveling half-way across the country would make today "ideal" for mine!
I don't really care about the upgrade either; just happy to be on the ship (but I'll take it in a heartbeat too!)
Ok, moving ahead with Halloween at the Radisson plans; will send an e-mail to those I have down for it later today!

This is my first post ever. My wife and I (no kids) will be on the Nov. 1 sailing on the Magic. It is my 3rd time and her 2nd. We are planning to have a nice relaxing trip this time. We are not really planning on doing anything in St. Martin, and are just planning to go to Magens Bay on St. Thomas. The last 2 trips we rented cars and drove around the islands like nut's trying to see everything, this time, we just want to relax and enjoy ourselves. Any tips on getting to Magen's Bay? I am thinking about just taking a taxi, but my wife is worried about getting dropped of and not being able to get a cab back. I was also wondering what the earliest time to board the boat is? I am as much of a Hockey fan as I am a Disney nut, (growing up in Niagara Falls will do that to you), and am looking forward to seeing some games in the ESPN Club. I'm also mildly intrigued by the whole pin trading thing. I'd love to hear from you all. Take care.

Last year we arrived at the port about 10:30 or so and were first in line (after the special needs and Category 1, 2, & 3 folks) to board. I think we began boarding about 12:15 or so. If you want to avoid the lines, the general thought is to arrive about 1:00.

Welcome! We went to Magen's Bay last year. I was really concerned about the taxi too because noone would really explain it to me and I couldn't picture how it worked. When you get off the ship there are many taxi (vans or open air) waiting to take you where you want to go. I think it was about $7.00 a person. They take you on a really nice and fast ride to Magen's Bay and you have to pay $2.00 each to get in. It was beautiful there. My DH's favorite site though was the waitress in a bikini who took your drink orders. When you are ready to leave there is another taxi station right where you were dropped off with many taxis waiting to take you back to the ship. Some people decided to be left off in town to shop on the way back before going to the ship. It is really easy to do on your own. Tell your DW not to worry at all.

CRUD! You may see my post on the main board; our docs went to TX! ARGH! I called DCL direct and am not sure where the mix-up occurred; we had updated with them and DU (new credit card requires new billing address so I know they have our new address). I've emailed them too.
We don't know the people who bought our house so we can't contact them. I hope they refuse them (vs. throwing them away). I guess they can be re-issued. I really hope it's not a case where we have to pick them up at the Terminal (OMG, that would be AWFUL for a planner like me; tell me it isn't so).
She did confirm my room number; so I don't have to worry about an upgrade any longer ;)
And I asked about dinner rotation (you never know) and she made a note we wanted APL but we had done that before and it didn't sound like it was in there). WHY won't they tell you your rotation in advance?

We just got confirmation on one of our tours in St Thomas, and it is at 10am at Coral World to Snuba. My question is this, they say that in November that they are one hour ahead of Eastern time, which they say is not the same as ship time. Does anyone remember what time we dock that day and how long it takes to get to Coral World? If it is really 9 am but the ship says 10am..... now I am really confused.
We did get our docs last week, still trying to find flippers for my daughter, she has her own snorkel and mask.
Does anyone know how cold the water is in Nov. My DD9 gets cold really fast, of course that is up in NJ in the summer. I was going to get her a shortie suit to snorkel in so she isn't so cold. Any ideas?
Did we pick a time for dis meet? is it Sat or Sun?

mrspat2,
We cruised last October, before daylight savings changed. As I recall though from past Navigators, you change the time on the ship to reflect the time it is on the islands. I believe when you leave they tell you to change clocks that day and then it is correct for the rest of the trip.
As for temps, we went snorkeling at the beginning of October and the water was fantastic. I can't imagine it would change that much in only a month. Afterall, the ocean is huge;)
Last we talked about a DISmeet, we were talking about possibly two, one Saturday 5-6 on deck 7 for those that can make it and one on Sunday, but didn't settle on a time or place. How about the Promenade Lounge between 11-12?

If I remember correctly we they told us to change our times Sunday night and then we changed back Thursday. I'm not sure of when it was done but you won't notice other than changing your watch.
The water in November was very warm. It is still very hot so be prepared with sunscreen. You can get a horrible burn really fast.
I saw snorkle sets at Sam's in Deptford yesterday on clearance. I was able to get the sets last year on clearance for some of us and I found the flippers for the rest of the family on clearance at Walmart and Dicks sporting goods. It's worth calling around they might have them still this year.

If you need the Mickey heads (in shades of green) or the passporter version, please e-mail me as I didn't include those on the 2nd e-mail (thinking it might have been too large with all the attachments). cotchdc_99@yahoo.com
I am missing info from one person so there may be one more update. I emailed him today asking for it.
We went shopping this weekend for the final items (I think). I am starting to get VERY excited and have pulled as many clothes as I can into one area. It needs to cool down a lot here so I can pack them away! DD's costume is on it's way and I need to work on DS's, but his is 4 pattern pieces so it can't be that hard!
I can't decide if my stomach feels like this: :yo-yo: or this :crazy2: when I think about the cruise. Dh said last night "Oh I wish it were THIS week". We are SO ready for this!
Hope everyone is feeling good!

Debby- Thanks for the update!!! :D
We did the final shopping this weekend and have devoted a closet to the clothes and other items gathering.
The waiting is the hardest part for us but we do a countdown every night at dinner. It will be here before we know it.
:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:
But now we don't know when we can pick them up.
Thank you so much, Masonpips & everyone for the spreadsheet & board information. It is so nice to talk to someone else that is as excited as we are (especially the 2 big kids---our little ones will be as we are boarding the plane).

Sorry, IGTD, don't know. We're taking private cars over and will park one and shuttle our entire party (8) with the other.
I'm sitting here this a.m. with my Castaway Cay drink bottle (from my Konk Cooler at Heads Up - aaaahhhhhh) filled with an iced coffee drink. However I'm dreaming of the Konk Cooler instead.
And we leave 3 weeks from tomorrow (OMG!).
As of Friday I can say "in just over 2 weeks we'll be on our way"
OMG OMG OMG
The excitement builds...

IGTD, we were told last year that you couldn't arrange your shuttle time until you actually checked into the hotel. I have also read many times here that even when you do have a set scheduled time they don't check who is on the schedule when the shuttle arrives, more first come first serve. When we left for the port around 9:45 there was a decent line already waiting for the shuttle. This could have all changed since Avis left though. We drive down and we drive to the port and park there. The added cost is worth the lack of hassle that morning.
I can't believe how close the cruise is!! Today I start packing hoping that everything will be done and there will be no last minute things to stress about. I can't wait!!!

YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The UPS man came yesterday with our documents. Now it really seems real. I can't believe it will be here in three weeks. I did some more packing yesterday, I still have a lot of ironing to do however.
There was a thread on the boards that listed all the great packing tips in one place. Try looking for this. I can only remember some of them and here they are:
2-way radios
ziploc bags
game-boys for waiting in the terminals
soft-sided cooler for the beaches
goggles
swimsuits (lots of them)
swim shoes
sunscreen
I'm drawing a blank now that I'm at work. My list is at home. Hope some of this helps.

extra hangers for the closet
small sewing kit
plugins or air freshner

My favorite packing tips that made my trip so much easier last year:
Pack and entire outfit in a 2 gallon ziploc. I'm ironing shorts & shirt and placing one day for each kid in a ziploc with underwear and socks. No helping them get dressed they take a bag and get dressed.
Different colored hi-lghters for the navigator. We were able to color code what different family members wanted to do.
Sunscreen stick in you kids are getting their hair braided.
Tylenol and cough medicine for both kids and adults. My daughter spent a day in bed with what we think was the Norwalk last year and the medicine was a life saver.
Antacid because your stomach won't be use to so much food.
Plenty of batteries for the gameboys.
Extension cord because there is only one outlet by the desk.
Your own hair dryer, their's is horrible.
Thank you notes to go with your phone cards.
dollars for room service
a permanent marker to write your name and room number on drink mugs and souvenier glasses.
An empty folder to keep all the navigators, kids club artwork and papers you want to save to bring home.
bubbles for the sail away party.
No wonder last year I brought 10 pieces of luggage for the 5 of us!
Masonpips
10-09-2003, 05:27 PM
I'm trying that ziploc bag thing this year!
Additional things:
travel laundry soap tablets (grocery stores usually have it) if you'll do a load or two.
dryer sheets
quarters (you can get change, but I brought a roll; very handy)
I did 2-3 loads mid-week and it was fabulous. It helped me pack less and freshened the kids pjs, socks, etc. so they had plenty for all week
Kid's motrin, ear drops, other medicines you use "sometimes"; just in case
band-aids/first-aid supplies (aloe, neosporin sp?)
3 weeks from right now I'll be sitting in Chicago waiting for our connection to Tampa
3 weeks from RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE
Heads up for the Radisson Halloween Folks
The latest information is out; please check your e-mails.
The updated overall spreadsheet will be out soon (we have 2 additional folks!)

You will never go anywhere with kids without the 2 gallon ziploc full of clothes again. They were neat, everything matched and I didn't have to help! A true week off for me. They are hard to come by but I found them in store brand at Shoprite around here.
Forgot to add a small travel size dish soap if you are getting a refillable mug or beer mug. Sometimes they clean it for you when you go for a refill but not always.
Baby powder to get beach sand off for the ride back to the ship.
Three weeks from 2AM we hit the road. It will be here before we know it.

The cruise is almost here!!! I love all the different ideas on packing and such!!! I need to start packing - It's hard to start when our weather in Minnesota isn't normal!! We had 70's and 80's last week!!! For the second week in October in Minnesota that is not normal!!! I think I may be safe to pack the shorts now since the temp is now 50's and 60's!! Odd weather!!! I think I will try the Ziplock packing tip for my girls - That way the outfit is all set and no mixing and matching and leaving mismatched items!!! Great idea- thanks!!!
My real purpose for writing is about halloween. Are we putting our goodies in treat bags for the kids or are they "trick or treating" with bags and we drop items in or are we just meeting and passing out goodies?? Doesn't matter I was just wondering if someone had a plan???
Thank you!!!

I think we should just all bring the items down to the pool and hand them out to the kiddos. Trying to coordinate a TorT in the dark between rooms will be a mess - I didn't find the lighting to be that great last year!
Theresa got the kids plastic bags so we'll send them to her first and then they can stop by each family to pick up their items in the bag - sound good?

I am laughing at all of our count-down timers! We all have different dates/times. Vacation officially begins then right? Plus, it looks sooooo much closer

Packing question...
Am I right in thinking beach towels for the ports? Anything else besides a collapsable cooler?

10-14-2003, 06:58 PM
SweetSpot - My sister is using my logic against me. Last year I told her for mom & dad's anniversary that we need to give them something that they can use right away, not a promise to do something in the future (dad was too sick to go on a trip). So this year after mom retired, my sis said we needed to take mom on a cruise, just the three girls, and it needed to be shortly after she retired. My sis is a realtor and was busy with work until the end of September, last weekend was the anniversary of dad's death (won't go on a cruise then) and next weekend is just TOO soon to our trip -- hence it got scheduled now!!
I tried to get DH to let me stay in Florida between the two cruises but he said no :( Ok, I didn't expect him to say yes!!
mrspat2 - I didn't bring beach towels last year because I thought we could use ones from the ship. I could be wrong. Anyone else?

10-14-2003, 07:45 PM
They handed out beach towels at the ports (CC for sure, I believe for all of them tho). Don't waste that valuable packing space!

I'm doing the same thing you are doing. It's a busy couple weeks but everything I need to get done before the cruise is a milestone that leads me closer to the day. We will be at the port the same time as you. Will many others be getting there early? It will be another mini DISmeet.
twhipple:
The cruise sounds like it will be a really good time. Enjoy yourself! You have plenty of time to get ready for the Disney cruise.
mrspat2:
You can bring towels off of the ship to use at the ports. They are more like white bath towels but it is one less thing to pack. They sometimes have them at the ramp when you leave the ship but they run out fast so you need to pick them up by the pools before you disembark.
We bring a collapsible rolling cooler that we keep in the room filled with ice and a smaller cooler that we take with us for drinks and snacks. The smaller one is much easier to handle especially if you doing the excursions on your own and dealing with the cabs.
Don't forget a hair dryer and extension cord if you have think hair or need to style with the blow dryer. The one they provide isn't great.

My dd and I were disappointed yesterday though when we realized a counter we had been watching (not mentioning any names) was not right. we had to add on a day. Oh, the horror!!
sweetspot - i was planning on bringing a collaspible cooler as well, but then read in with our docs, that they weren't allowed. I don't want to be turned away at the gate (horrorific nitemare). What do you think?
Masonips - I'm hoping my friend Kris e-mailed you. I haven't heard from her today, so I think that's a good sign.
Budget Shuttle ques: Do the shuttles run regularly on sat. mornings and afternoons? Do you have to wait until it fills up?
If we arrive at Budget in Cape C. at 10:00, how fast will we be at the actual port? We'd like to get there early. We won't mind waiting once we're there.
Well, until the next milestone (or tomorrow), Bon Voyage!! (just practicing)

I'm concerned about the cooler thing too. I read someone's advice that they pack their collapsable cooler in their suitcase, and just carry on their beer or sodas in plain sight, and they don't have a problem with that. This conflicting info is making me crazy!
Masonpips
10-14-2003, 09:35 PM
last year we bought 3 bottles of wine in Pt. C and just packed them in our luggage; no questions asked; I don't think they searched it at all.
We also brought a small (think 6-8 cans) cooler that we took off ship with us on Cayman. We packed some water, 2-3 pb&js (from room service) and chips as our excursion was during lunchtime (for the kids). No questions asked.
IMO, the best thing to do is pack your cooler inside your suitcase and bring some items on board in your suitcases as well. You can get ice once on ship, so don't wheel it through the terminal (that seems a bit over the top/tacky to me anyway).
Fwiw, we never opened our wine onboard! We ended up buying some drinks and never took the time to sit in the room and drink.
Does that help? Ask questions and I'll see if I can help

Last year I had a large bag cooler from Sam's which held over a case of cans and packed it folded in my suitcase. We brought a case of beer and 12 packs of soda (must have diet pepsi in a can)and packed them in another piece of rolling luggage. The porter took it and said "Beer?" We said yep and he took it, no problem. Room steward delivered it to the room and when he saw we had cases of cans and a cooler offered to keep it full with ice all week. Not a bit of a problem at all. People were walking around with cans of beer and soda on the ship all week. We didn't go that far but it was nice to have beverages in the room to drink while on the verandah.
This year I have a rolling cooler that looks like a piece of luggage. I am packing it with cans, no ice and if they don't let me check it I can wheel it on. I don't expect a problem. Even with all we brought on they still made a fortune on us from drinks of the days and smoothies!

the sailaway party starts pretty soon after the lifeboat drill ends. We took our life jackets back and headed upstairs. There is a ton of singing/dancing/characters and then pretty soon they blow the horn and we'll be off. That is usually around 5 p.m. We left soon after that to get ready for dinner at 6 but you can stay for awhile I believe.

they usually take the kids (5-7 at least) to see a movie in the club - my DS loved this. I wonder which one it will be? Last time it was Sky Kids (2?) and it was his first "big" (non-cartoon) kid movie.
I kind of hope they'll take the 3-4's to see Finding Nemo; DD would love that.
Gosh, I hope the 10/11 or 10/18 groups bring home navigators (from the kids's clubs and from the 10/18 Eastern) for us so we can ask lots of questions!

One of the recent navigators I have said the sail away party starts at 4:30 but last year it was more like 5:00. It will be difficult to get to the DIS meet after the sailaway and get ready for dinner at 6:00. Last year we only had on other person show at the meet time. It's hard to get everyone together when they are so excited to be on the ship the first day.
Do we have a time and place set for Sunday?

I love going to the movies but DH doesn't so we usually wait for them to come out on video and we rent/buy them. I can't remember the last movie I saw in a theater. I too do not want to spend my whole cruise in the theater but I do want to see them all. ;)

Hey Everyone, it's been a long, busy week. I was going into Dis-withdrawal. So glad to see "everyone" back on and getting excited. 2 weeks from now, we'll be airborn. YEAH!
I think the dismeet on Sunday may be better also. We're First timers on dcl, and wouldn't want to miss the sailaway party or our first dinner seating. We didn't realize it would be so tight. I thought the party was at 4:00.
Crenze - thank you again for the movie list. dd loved it.
Masonips- r u sending out updated lists to everyone? IF not, could u send me one again. I lost half of the original one. Thanks!
Dis4me- I just saw your other post. I hope you find your docs. they must be somewhere. I'll say a prayer for you. try not to get toooooo aggravated, they'll turn up.
I decided to pack my (larger)collaspible cooler with toiletries and such. If they check, I'm safe. I'm only planning on bringing H2O bottles along anyhow. We'll put them in a carryon I guess.
Any other last minute tips or ideas?

Oh BTW we should look for each other at the sailaway party. You can't miss me We are blondes and my daughter look like they could be twins(they're 10 months apart)
I hope the new navigators get posted before we leave Especially the kids' navigators I'd love to give my kids a heads up on what will be going on.I'll meet you at the movies Cindy. My kids wre thrilled that they may get to see some of the ones they haven't see yet.I hope they play them during the day or at 10 pm.

I hit Home Depot today and got our green Mickey heads; let the creativity begin - I'll report in on Monday on how it went. Also on Monday I'll send the final spreadsheet updates to all (and the Halloween one as well to the Radisson folks)
I did a dress try-on run tonight and feel pretty good about what I have planned/picked-out. DS's bday party is tomorrow a.m. and then I'm going to finish his costume and begin "official" packing.

We are arriving at the port very early. We all are early risers and last year got very sick of sitting in the hotel room and waiting so we drove to the port to sit in the car and wait. Made no sense really but we were all just dying to see the ship. It seemed as if many of us are getting to the port early. We're going to wear our Mickey pins and hopefully others will too so we can have a mini DISmeet while we wait to board.
Anyone else planning on getting to the port early?

Great idea Sweetspot about having an unofficial Dismeet at the port. I know our friends and us will be there early. I went to Lowes to get green mickeys but they don't carry them. I had to take Nick's Jimmy Neutron and Tommy from Rugrats, both of which offered bright green colors. I just drew a Mickey on one and traced the others. they came out great.
Happy B-day to your son Deb. Hope his party was fun.

You have to get the Mickey's at Home Depot. It's their exclusive line. I just printed out the green Mickey's that Masonpips sent to us with the DIS list. I have the Mickey paint chips but found it much easier to print, cut and put in the pin packing that I bought at AC Moore.
I hope you get some bite on the Navigator thread. Unfortunately this last trip was Western but I don't care. Just curious what has changed since the last Navigators posted. I suppose I could just wait until the cruise to find out but what fun would that be?

Hello everyone!
BroncoJoe-I went to see Lord of the Rings around 11:30 on our June of 2002 cruise and it was packed. Strange too because it was not over until 1:30 the next morning. We went about 15 minutes early and I know some people were sitting in the aisle and others just left due to no seats. I was not too interested in seeing it but thought it was a great time to check out a movie for free.
We have been on movie ban so we could see something new and are happy with the selections! I know last time other movies played in the room and we would turn it on while getting dressed and basically see the whole movie over a couple of days....not always in order but oh well!:D
We are planning to leave from WDW around 9 or 9:30 am should get us there pretty early and then DH can go return the car and join us in line. I will be wearing my lime green Mickey there too!
Now hopefully, the next two weeks will fly by and we will get to be cruisin' :boat:

What days do they do tea with Wendy and what times. I was trying to figure it out by the Navigators but got confused?
SweetSpot
10-24-2003, 08:35 AM
I checked the Navigators also and didn't find Tea with Wendy mentioned anywhere. I remember last year that we got tickets on Sunday outside Studio Sea for the Teas on Monday or Thursday.
I thought the Tea was a complete waste of time. It was sweet but with so many other things to do I wouldn't have done it last year. If I remember right all in all it lasted 20 minutes if that.

I agree with you sweetspot. We went twice. The first time is was very cute Wendy really interacted withthe children and posed for pictures at the end. is High Tea different than Tea w/Wendy (I think yes)
What do you wear to High Tea? It's in Palo; are shorts ok for this one?
ARGH! The clothing choices are driving me batty!

Tea with Wendy is a short story being read in Studio Sea by someone dressed up as Wendy. She picks a couple kids from the audience and asks them to come up and learn the proper way to have tea with her. They serve ice tea and oatmeal cookies for everyone to have along with them. Then it is really just a picture taking session. My DD who was just 7 and totally in love with all characters really didn't like it and said she would have rather stayed in the club.
I would think that dress at Palo is nice casual. When we went to Palo last year for brunch I wore nice slacks and shirt and DH wore dockers and a polo shirt. If I remember right I think most people were dressed somewhat casual but nice. I can't imagine that they are too strict on dress during the day because how many times can they expect people to dress, undress and redress for every different thing in one day.
Also, on the other thread we were trying to figure out which night was formal night. I posted a thread asking about when formal night was because Barb and Dave's sites both list different days. I remember it being on Sunday night and when I called to book my daughters birthday cake I asked for it to be on formal night and they set it for Sunday. I hope they haven't changed it. By Thursday I'll have gained too many pounds from eating everyday to look good in the formal picture. The important things we must think about....
Masonpips
10-24-2003, 03:30 PM
you're killing me! Another reason to book Palo's early in the week (my Palo's dress is the most "form fitting")
I've been going on the premise that Formal is Sunday; semi-formal is Thursday; not really caring about the menu's, more for photo ops with the kids (DD bailed on pics after Wed last year). I am bringing two formals and the boys will wear tuxes both nights so the wardrobe isn't a big deal for us.

Last year I gained 10lbs on the ship and that was with only tasting a little bit of everything and no desserts. Can't imagine how bad it would have been had I really eaten my meals. I actually bring my scale with me so I can monitor the weight gain because 5lbs is a pant size to me. I have my early cruise clothes, mid cruise clothes and oh no I've gained too much now cruise clothes just in case. I think I packed enough for 3 people just for me LOL!
Masonpips
10-24-2003, 04:04 PM
You bring your scale? WOW!
I did TONS Of stairs last year (we were on 6 so we rarely took the elevator) and did walk/work-out 5 days. I felt like that helped. I was 2 pounds heavier when I next weighed (which was about a week later since we moved when we got home).
I am going to walk/work-out again; it really helps offset the food.
I've also been doing low-carbs so I'm kind of afraid to eat much sugar stuff. Even having a low carb "approved bar" can set my stomach off. I don't plan on scrimping (the thought of the tenderloin at Palo's literally has me salivating) but I am going to try and take lots of "tastes" but not eat the whole thing too!
OMG, I am SO excited. I can't even work today (my whole group is off besides me so there's not a lot of pressure); I'm printing the old navigators (from August) and looking at what we'd like to do, etc.

Any input on the Toad Races? The Chip-It golf thing (I think someone here has done this). The Art of Entertaining things? The galley tour?
OH MY! There is SO much to do! We did NONE of this last year and were still busy all the time; how little I knew then!

I printed the Navigators but haven't sat down and read them yet. I have a 15 hour car ride, they'll keep me busy. My DH did the chip-n-putt last year. It's held in the atrium, so you can watch from many different places. The object is to hit a hollow, very light golf ball onto a putting green they have set up. It's harder than it sounds and it was fun to watch. My DH wasn't very good at it and he golfs so I think I might give it a shot. Seems like fun and anyone has a fair chance.
The Art of Entertainment Series was really good and I can't wait to do it again. I guess I get my thrills easily but they make it very entertaining to learn to fold napkins, make desserts, appetizers, cocktails, etc. My DH who is definitely not the type of person to go to these things enjoyed himself. We even used our new found napkin folding techniques at dinner to impress our wait staff.
The bridge tour was just added again recently. They stopped giving the tour after 9/11. I read a trip report that said it was really nice. We're going to try to do that while everyone is off the ship in St. Maarten.
I also want to do the wine tasting this year. I'm not much of a wine drinker but it would be interesting to learn what all the hype is all about. All wines taste the same to me. Maybe they can enlighten my palette.
I hope we get to try everything we missed last year. I'm not bothering with Palo and haven't thought about the spa so there's plenty of time to see as much as possible. I really am looking forward to the down time.

Going to chime in here for taking the stairs. I did not gain anything on our last cruise but we always took the stairs. I think it was faster then the elevators too. I figure it's vacation and Disney-which didn't you guys know calories do not count at Disney!:teeth:
I went to most of the art of entertaining-cake and plate decorating, entree, appetizer, and Dh went to another one. I thought it was fun and you usually get to try a little bit of wine too. I am not a wine drinker-(funny since I live so close to Napa and half a dozen CA wineries) but I was happy to sample them.
The Galley tour was short but pretty cool. My DS loves to watch Food Network and claims he wants to be a chef so he probably had the most fun.
We went to tea with Wendy and if we skip it my DS will not be upset-although he did mention it as something he remembers.
My DH is happy the bridge tour is back. He went to the other building of the Magic or something and brought back a pretty cool poster that is hanging in our spare bedroom along with the art of entertaining poster signed by the chef.
Has anyone done the theater tour?

Thumpersmom - DH did the theater tour last year and was very impressed.
I heard somewhere that some of the weight gain on a cruise can be attributed to desalinated water. It doesn't taste like salt water, but has a lot of sodium in it.
I just got back from my 3 day cruise with my mom and sister. I did gain about 2-3 pounds, but within 3-4 days dropped down to only 1 up. I ate everything in sight. Ok, not everything, but at dinners I always had soup and either an appetizer or salad, main course and of course dessert. I ate more for breakfast than normal, about normal for lunch. I did exercise a bit, but not as much as I think I will on Magic. DH and I walked much more than mom, sis and I did!!
Tomorrow is official packing day. I'll be setting aside clothes to wear to work next week (only Monday to Wednesday :teeth: ) Everything is washed from the last cruise and now I need to start pulling out some stuff (I think I have about 10 short-sleeved shirts set aside!!).
Masonpips, I will be doing the galley tour and the bridge tour this year. Did some of the Art of Entertaining and entered the Chip-It contest (and tied for 1st place - only female that day!). Sweetspot is right about it. I chalk it up to luck!
I took some great pictures last week of the Wonder leaving port. It's too bad I don't know anyone who will be on the RCL or Carnival ships Saturday! I was up on the RCL deck facing Wonder. If I zoom in a bit, I can probably see the smiling faces of all those on deck.

tagall4; will go read my pm next
I just spent the evening going through my entire closet and trying on everything I own (or it felt like it). I have a ton of stuff for Goodwill; but I have about 80% of my cruise stuff ready. I think I've decided to wear the same dress formal and semi-formal nights; it's probably for a total of 5 hours between dinner/pics (I changed for the shows last year) and it will be SO much less to pack; plus I *love* my dress and the 2 I wore last year seem like second bananas (they're both fine but I can't decide so this keeps me from deciding!).
I am definitely doing the galley tour; it sounds great! I think I'll send dh + kids to the Toad race and/or golf and I want to do one or two things in the spa. I just read about the capsule for the first time; it sounds pretty cool!
SweetSpot
10-25-2003, 09:49 AM
I didn't mean to scare everyone about the weight gain. I gained that much because that's how my body works. I don't each much normally so I think my body went into shock being allowed to finally eat. I took a week off of dieting and enjoyed every second of it. I was back to my normal weight two weeks after returning home. Enjoy yourself, do the stairs, eat what you want, someone else is cooking it for you!!
My pile of bags is growing daily. I keep remembering things I want to bring along. Too much overplanning leads to big time overpacking. At least I'm ready for anything.

What is the capsule?
Has anyone heard anything about the spa? I heard they did not get to it on drydock and it really needed it. I had wanted to sign up for some treatments, but not if it is in bad shape. Someone mentioned something about the sauna in part of it and the showers not working right.
Masonpips
10-25-2003, 01:33 PM
The capsule is some type of thing you get in and your body is in a machine and you rest/relax for 40 minutes or so (per Barb's site it's only $25; go to *****************). I think it's like those liquid massagers you see in the malls maybe? If you can deal with the lying down part (I think it looks quite coffin like) it's supposed to be great. Someone wrote "like 2 hours of sleep". Since I don't plan to sleep much, this might be a "must-do"
We had no real issue with the surial chamber last year; it took a few minutes for the steam to start but once it did, it was very WARM in there! I used the exercise area a lot and it was nice as were the locker rooms.
We had massages on Castaway and they were nice too.

Castaway Cay is the Bahamas so you do have to fill out that form; I think I called last year (or found out here; my resource center LOL)
I think you can still request to link and they'll try and do their best; you could also ask at Guest Services (or wherever it is) when you board the ship. We had linked last year, then unlinked (they ended up having family come on the cruise) and they still had us at two tables right next to each other so they're very accomodating. Good luck!

Hi All!
Well after some last minute bookings I will be joining you all on the Nov 1st cruise. I hope it's not too late for me to join in with just a week to go before sailing! I actually booked the cruise about a week and a half ago but I haven't had chance to post as I've been away from home with some of my family.
Anyway, it's just me cruising all alone so I'm hoping to make some new Dis friends (if any of you can put up with me!!! :p ).
This will be my 4th 7 night Disney cruise, as a guest that is. I actually have been recently working for DCL on the Disney Magic as an assistant server. I was working on-board from late February to July. I am now currently in the process in applying for different position on-board. As this is taking a little bit of time and as I was missing the ship I decided I would book a cruise and try out the guest experience again (seeing things from the other side again!). I'm looking forward to see my friends on-board (and suprise them!) and of course meeting all of you disboarder's.
I'm going to be flying in to Orlando on Wednesday evening. I'm then staying a few nights at the Wyndham Palace Resort at WDW before returning to the airport on Saturday where I will get the first DCL shuttle to the port.
I just can't wait!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

debbie - Magnetic Printer Paper? That's interesting, so it should stick straight to the door, right? I'll have to look out for some of that myself. I was just going to use normal laminated paper and then tape it to the door, but that magnetic paper sounds great.

Hi dis4me! :wave2:
On the subject of tipping & phone cards, Obviously all servers/assistant servers love cash (as that's the main reason many of them are there), but I have to say I have the fondest memories of a few guests who left me phone cards. They would usually leave the standard tip amount and then leave me a phone card on top.
This was perfect for me as I never seemed to have the time to buy phone cards (with the long hours we were working). The phone cards used to come in extremely useful on Saturdays (Port Canaveral Days) when we were often working virtually all day with no time to get off the ship. Because of this Disney provided phones on the ship that would be plugged in on Saturdays as land-lines, that we could use to call home with phonecards.
Also, I think phonecards would also come in useful if you want to give something to someone in a non-tipped position (for exceptional service). For example: Guest Services, Kids Programmers, Cruise Staff etc.
If you are thinking about getting any phone cards, the most important thing to ensure though is that the phone cards you buy work well internationally as that's where virtually all crew will be calling.
Hope this helps (sorry it ended up being so long!), and I look forward to see you on-board :teeth:

Thanks Darren We always tip above and beyond the suggested for the tips. We feel the amounts are way too low for the work they do and have always gotten exceptional service.I was talking about the additional people.::D

I can't believe we only have 4 days left. I'm starting to get nervous. I was reading the navigators and there is something mentioned about being a future sportscaster. THere is a time and place to meet if you are interested, but it doesn't give any further details. Does anyone know how old you have to be to enter? My 5 yr. old is a total sports nut. He gets up in the morning and watching ESPN. He would love to do this if he could.
It's going to be really hard working this week. I'm halfway packed and trying to figure out how to fit the rest. Good luck to everyone on the packing. See you soon.

OMG we leave in just over 75 hours (and I have to work 27 more and sleep and pack and shower and....)
My 6 year old would LOVE that Sportscaster thing too; he spent Sat. afternooon watching 2 college football games and stayed up late to watch the World Series (I think he watched every game during the playoffs at least until schoolnight bedtimes)!
OMG
I am 1/2 packed (I think). Pedicure tonight, soccer practice tomorrow night; WHEN am I going to finish?
I might have to give up sleep

Hi everyone! I am CRENZE's sister in law. I have been lurking since we booked, but finally decided to post. I am the one who is surprising her two ds. We had originally decided to tell them on the plane, but my oldest (12yo) figured it out! (he's too smart for his own good). Now, he's worried he won't have anyone to talk to (besides his brother). Any other 12 yo's sailing with us?

Leggoons...great to see another St. Louisan on board. You can tell us at the DISmeet what high school you attended. (Just kidding! For everyone else...it's a standard St. Louisan question.)
Regarding the ESPN Sportscaster thing...This is a nationwide search ESPN is doing to give someone the chance to be a Sportscenter anchor/work at ESPN for a year. I'm sure the minimum age requirement is 21. Not sure if they're still looking on board as was shown on the old Navigators...it was probably only for a couple cruises. They came to St. Louis one Saturday earlier this month.
I can't believe we leave this week!

That's what someone told me today at work. (they were in a rotten mood and I'm "living in a mouse ear fog!" Less than a week and I'm in such a good mood)
Zach is 12, he thought for sure that he'd be the only boy on board. Nathan is 10, he doesn't know we're going yet. I'm so glad they'll have someone to hang with.

Have any of you checked the weather report? Looks like we may in for a bit of a rainy cruise. :(
Well, I started packing, but I don't have enough room for all my shoes! I was planning on wearing skirts to dinner each night, but I think that idea just went out the window. Each outfit has a different pair of shoes in a different color! I hope capris are OK for the casual nights. I don't think I have enough time to buy some mix and match type outfits so I can wear the same shoes.

i noticed it was going to be rainy too. So what happens at the ports if it is rainy??
Question about dinner rotation. I know the tropical menu is Tuesday, but I am reading different things about Small World and Captains Gala menu. We are trying to decide which one we could skip to go to Palo's and have our three possibilities for reservations at Palo's given our rotation.
Have any of the DIS veterans done the Spa taster on the cruise. I figured that was a good one to try.

RAIN? What? Where? Oh NO!
I will say that last year on Palo night I refused to walk along Deck 9 to get there; we took Deck 8 over and then the stairs. It was so freaking windy up top and I wasn't ruining my hair for dinner!
I've given up on the menu/rotation; who knows what is when anymore? I doubt we'll see the new EAstern navigators by this week.
I'm doing capris one night too, so strasfamily; you're in good shape!

I was going to bring a soft sided cooler that is on wheels so you can pull it. Well, it is staying home - it is taking up too much room in my suitcase. I was going to do the order the sandwiches from room service, and bring them with on our excursions. I told my hubby - we are on vacation - we will just have to not be cheap and buy our lunches on the islands.
Anybody else bringing a cooler? Maybe I should just find a smaller one? I bought the one with wheels specificially for the cruise - oops!
mrspat2
10-28-2003, 08:41 AM
I bought a soft sided cooler at walmart for under $10. It does nto have wheels but I figured one of our excursions is on a chartered boat with just the four of us, so I better have something. I does take up room, but not too much since it collapses.
2disneycruzrs
10-28-2003, 10:08 AM
Same here...I have one with wheels but for two/four of us, we don't need that and it's bulky. I have a couple soft sides to decide between.
I had to call Castaway Club for the ship's fax number (we're in the middle of trying to sell our condo...knowing our luck, we'll get an offer while on board). Anyway, I couldn't believe it when I told the CSR that we're sailing THIS Saturday!

Just socks and underwear need to be packed. Otherwise, I'm all done!! Got to do laundry now to get the rest.
We found out on the last trip that our luggage is showing it's years. The ball bearings are gone from one of the front wheels. We're going to try to get a new one tonight, otherwise, I'll be the one dragging my suitcase along behind me. (It keeps falling over when the wheel locks up, ever other second). If we get one, I'll have to repack. Ugh! To those who haven't packed yet, don't feel like you're behind. I'm very obsessive about this. I was freaking out every minute until it was done. Ask me about when we moved sometime. I truly believe it helps me to be overprepared :teeth:

The kids traveling clothes are laid out; they're going to school/daycare 1/2 day on Thursday; we'll run home and change them and be off to the airport. Dh is taking the day off; I'm taking a 1/2day.
I have the documents, bcs and passport, Hopper passes and airline stuff all in one place.

Here to help, mrspat2. Not sure what size a DD7 would wear but I have a spare pair of size 4 water shoes. I'm most certain I could squeeze them in too, if you think they would fit. I got a new pair so I won't be needing these anymore. They are pink, blue and white (K-Mart specials).
I also packed pictures of DH and the poochies (Nikki & Rece) since they won't be joining us. I JUST LOVE MY POOCHIES TO DEATH (and DH too)!!
