Going to HRH in June, and wanted to know if any REASONABLE places to eat nearby. Yes, we want to try City Walk some, but not to break the bank going out to eat all the time! Any reasonable places? We have 2 kids, age 12 and 7 along with 2 adults. Thanks !

We just got back. We ate at Hard Rock Cafe and Nascar. The breakfast buffet at HRH is $13-adults and $9-children, more than we wanted to spend for breakfast. So we drove to a Ponderosa on International Drive, a few minutes away. Total for 4 of us-$21.00. Which was more like it.

Kirkman Rd, which is just outside the Universal property has a number of inexpensive places. There's a Ponderosa with a $3.99 breakfast buffet and, neraby, the Orlando Ale House, which is good and very reasonably priced. There's also a TGI Friday's at the corner of Kirkman and Major.

There are also a Wendy's, McD's and a Burger King at or near the intersection of Kirkman and Vineland.

Go north on Vineland a short distance and you'll find in a shopping center on your left Cheeburger, Cheeburger, which has great burgers and shakes and just a round the corner a BBQ place, the name of which escapes me at the moment.

Cross I-4 on Kirman and you'kk find a reasonably priced Indian restaurant, Far Pavilion, one of my favorites.

in short, there are lots of possibilities.

Last year we stumbled into a Sizzler or something akin to that around Wet n Wild, best place we ate, quiet , good decor, also never underestimate pizza delivery, kids can swim while its cooking, you can buy lots of pizza for what it costs to eat at City Walk. I also have a variation on this do the pizza, then later go to like Hard Rock Cafe and just do drinks, maybe one appetizer, you get to see the place but much less expensively since the family isn't hungry...

For an affordable breakfast, get the bag of M & M's out of the mini bar and let the kids split it.

LOL on the M&M's.

I stop at a grocery store, buy a styrofoam cooler, small chocolate milks, juice, beer, Entenmann's doughnuts (yum), chips, ect...
A cooler is only like $5, when the trip is over, I just leave it in the room. The doughnuts stay on the table at room temperature. This will save you the cost of breakfast and the kids will always have snacks to eat.
Most people don't think to do this, because it takes time to find a grocery store and go shopping. But the reward is worth it when you have lots of snacks and drinks in the room. There is a grocery store half way down International Drive on the East side of the road. There is also a convience store across from Wet N' Wild, plus all the gas stations. But the grocery store is the best because they have the cooler for $5.

I do the same. I bring my hot pot. Pack it with instant oatmeals, hot chocolate, tea, and ramen noodles. In minutes we have a quick breakfast or lunch. We do have supper out. Too tired to cook even if it is plug in the hot pot!

I would like to pick up fruit drinks instead of trying to shlep them on a plane.

No, Mears doesn't do a grocery stop (WISH THEY DID)...

I shlep boxes of Capri Sun (surprisingly light), snacks like raisins, cheez-its and Vanilla wafers in a small duffel that I pack in my big rolling duffel. You'd be surprised how much money you can save by having your own snacks instead of going to the overpriced hotel convenience stops.
