Thank you so much everyone. Our local news covered Rachel's story last night, and CBS News Radio (New York City area) is coming on Friday. We have received calls from Shays' office and Stripp's office, as well as Senator Dodd's office. Lieberman's office, interestingly, seems to be less involved. All of the offices have assigned people to work on this with us, and Shays sent us a personal letter.
We still are working on the appeal for the State Insurance Board, but we hope that the publicity and pressure makes the insurance company "change their mind".
I want to thank you all for the ongoing support. It means a tremendous amount.

Sharon,
I really hopes the media coverage gives you the extra "push" you need with the insurance company.

We're hoping and praying that the media coverage makes those jerks at the Insurance Company finally stand up and do what's right!

Sharon,
I know the media will help. the little segment on Channel 12 was really great. The newspeople told the story great.
I am glad Chris Shays is involved. I think he will do more for you than Lieberman.
Chris Shays was the one to get Richie the 4 months of Rochephin when his insurance turned him down. His doctor asked for 12 months to eliminate all symptoms, but at least the 4 managed to help him a little.
I hope he can do that and more for Rachel.
You all looked great on TV , you, hubby Rachel and David. But someone was missing..... Was she running the camera? Peggie

News 8 CT is coming on Monday, and Lieberman's office called today since News 8 called them. The staffer at Lieberman's office spoke to a lot of doctors which convinced her that this treatment would indeed be appropriate for Rachel, and we may see one of those doctors to get additional back-up for our appeal. I'll keep you posted.

Sharon, it was so easy to send letters to Congressman Shay, Senator Dodd & Senator Lieberman. I composed the letter off line & send each of these folks an email from their web sites - too easy! Let us all hope & pray this issue gets better for all of you. Thank you to you, Sharon, for the information. Continued prayers & pixie dust to all of you ...

Meant to ask ... who is Stripp? Someone else we can contact on your behalf?

certainly hope they can help you back those hmo folks in a corner.
just let us know if you need some more squeaking, like it has been said before the squeaky wheel gets oiled....willing to send support letters to who ever you think it might help just let us know who , what and when ( sent some to my senators to put a bug in your senators ears figured maybe a bit of pressure from piers might help) Thanks for the update, hope the remaining ones are as positive.......keeping ya'll in our prayers....

Sharon,
I am crossing fingers & toes & sending truck loads of pixie dust your way ... I'm also hoping that one of the national news shows (like Primetime, 20/20 or 48 hours) picks up the story and puts some NATIONAL pressure on the insurance company for you.

Thanks everyone.
The WCBS 880 broadcast will be Monday. A woman named Fran Schneidu came to my house this morning to do the interview. She is a veteran reporter and seemed to have a lot of ideas that might help.
I think the media attention is great, but I'm not sure it will necessarily make the insurance company change their mind since we've exhausted all appeals with them. They might as well make us go to the State Insurance Board and take their chances...they have nothing to lose (except the bad publicity, which they will have already gotten).
We're looking forward to our trip to DLR during President's Week, but the appeal is due on the 21st, so we will really have to rush to get it ready. These things can take up several binders of information so they take a lot of work to prepare. At least after this all, I'll be able to help anyone else that needs to go through this horror.

Hi all,
News 8 postponed (probably because of the shuttle disaster) but as far as I know CBS Radio is still running their segment.
Now we're starting to prepare the appeal. We have two weeks, and a lot of work ahead of us (organizing the material, putting it in tabbed books, doing timelines and summaries, etc.).
I'll keep you posted and thanks for all of your support.

The WCBS segment (short, but has gotten some good response) is running continuously today. Apparently the signal is pretty strong, so try to tune into 880 AM and see if you get it.
News 8 will be running their report on Thursday.
