Friday's:

Using the clues from below can you find ten words. Once you have placed the words into the correct order you will find that each word is different from the previous word by only one letter. For example, DOG may be followed by DIG, etc.
in the back of the net
sock material
forest
baby horse
hooded robe
spiral of wire
not too hot
roasting metal
earthy ground
not bad

in the back of the net (GOAL)
sock material (WOOL)
forest (WOOD)
baby horse (FOAL)
hooded robe (COWL)
spiral of wire (COIL)
not too hot (COOL)
roasting metal (FOIL)
earthy ground (SOIL)
not bad (GOOD)

Good, wood, wool, cool, cowl, coil, soil, foil, foal, goal

There was an alternate answer too!

....and many Coronas, nachos, pictures, posting milestones and general silliness and fun too. :)

I LOVE IT! :)

Hey! WONDERFUL news! See you at RIDDLECON!!! :)

I have some catching up to do on that thread today too! :)

We had quite an eventful weekend around here. Spent some time visiting with my Dad - he's doing really, really well. Soccer and skating per usual. AND - my DS has decided to stop going to school (he's a college freshman) and work for a living AND to get an apartment with some friends. So he's somewhat moved in to a place that's about 1/2 mile away. Close enough so that he can still do his laundry here. We spent the better part of the day yesterday moving him there. I must say - it feels very, very odd not having him here....:(

Good Morning Riddle Buds and Riddle Meister!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I have a parent brag this morning ..... hope you don't mind.

DS, 8, swims competitively. Yesterday he swam a meet and scored silver times in the 100 Yd Individual Medley (IM) and 100 yd backstroke. It's a major breakthrough for him! He's pretty young, swims up in age and is often discouraged because of the age difference (at this age bigger and older kids swim faster). Read ALOT of TLC after meets. It was a nice way to spend the morning yesterday.

End of brag.

I have an idea on the riddle today. Probably wrong. I just keep hearing some age old adages when I read it.....we'll see....;)

Morning Riddle Meister and Fellow Riddlers!

I'm guessing that my answer is probably the alternate that everyone is getting because it just came waaaayy too easily for me today! LOL

Congrats to your son, Gina! My 14 year old DD swims also and really loves it. It's such a competitive sport. That's great he did so well.

Uh-oh Bernie!;) That's the third teen I know of that has done the same thing in the last year or so. SO's son is finally going back to school this week to try and get a degree. We'll see. He's very money hungry and he'll have to work at his job less.

Boo's Mom, so glad to hear that you can make it to Riddle Con! I have a room booked too in case the group rate thing isn't good enough. I am so excited about this! I just have to work on getting my DH excited too :)

Bernie, I am watching how much it hurts my dad to see the last one of his kids move out (my sis will move in May when she is married). I can only imagine how rough that is for you.

Gina, congratulations to your DS!!! That is excellent!!!

Diane, I saw TLK twice already... this past weekend in Columbus as Marla said and the weekend before in Chicago. I agree, the details are wonderful and I loved seeing it! I can't wait to catch Aladdin next year and even that Black Stalion movie looked great too! I had never been to the IMAX before and I think it is wonderful!

Good morning all,

Just enough snow here to add to the morning routine so I can't stay long. I've tried 2 guesses with no luck so I may check back later. They say the first time's the charm!

Everyone had busy weekends...and despite the appearance I gave yesterday, "playing" on Friday's riddle thread, we did some stuff too. Our right of passage was putting a desk in DD's room. Third grade seems to be the year they really need one...although in her case, it was more needed for surface area for her Harry Potter toys!!

Have a great day everyone!

Bravo to him.. swimming up in his age group too.....I am sure he will be turning those silvers into gold before you know it.. I loved going to swim meets, it was great exercise for them from the age of 5 through high school..

Congrats!!

Good morning OK and the Corral! :teeth:

Gina - congratulations to your DS! I wish we had a swimming program here in our town for my DD to participate in. I know it is very competitive though... so he must be doing very well!

Vanessa - what a chore! Our girl scout troop has not begun the cookie sale yet... we do it later in the year than your neck of the woods. Unfortunately, I always end up having to buy quite a few boxes... which will be ridiculous this year as we have all but cut out eating sugar in our household! :p DH is the only one who eats sweets... so guess I better make sure they are the varieties HE likes!

Stephanie - HURRAH that you are coming to Riddlecon!

I made all my arrangements for riddlecon last night. Because this is a fairly long airplane trip for us to get there... I am coming a few days early to just play with my family - since we are coming so far. We will be arriving the evening of the 29th and leaving on the afternoon of the 3rd. I am staying at the Days Inn and have a compact rental car arranged to get around in. Purchased the season passes for all of us - since we are there more than two days it turned out to be the most economical choice with the current low rates. SO..... except for some spending money and making arrangements to have our horses cared for in our absence... I think I am good to go! DD is thrilled to be able to go to this DIS meet.... she was sad to be left behind at DIS CON. She was also delighted to see so many kids around her age are coming. She will be 11 1/2 by then. :)

Long week ahead for me. Flying to New York tomorrow to price and sell a BUNCH of bonds and will be there until Thursday... then I am in Olympia on Friday to execute the necessary resolutions and purchase contracts. So today and tomorrow morning are my only time this week on the riddle. Need to bank up some smarty pants!

LOL! That sounds like my DD as a 5th grader! If it is in her room... it is occupied by Digimon critters, Breyer model horses (a whole stable of those), and books/artwork/craft projects... everywhere!

She has a computer center in our main computer/office room - she and DH share that room. We got her a good sized computer desk that has surface space for regular studying and writing and that is where she now does her homework. Her room is just too much of a disaster area for a good study nook. :p

We had a good weekend here. We actually cancelled going to the Burns dinner because DD wasn't feeling great, but then she was so upset that we had done that, we decided to go after all. You missed a big one last night, Bernie, LOL. And a long one. Lots of fun. Super Bowl is history, what's next??

Hope all goes well with your son. Gina, congratulations with your son's swimming, very nice indeed. And Dbl D, have a good and safe trip.

PM sent. :sunny:

Have a safe trip Laura!! We're missing each other in New York by a week and a day. We'll be there next Friday-Saturday for the conference.

Would anyone be kind enough to offer me a hint.....to either set of pants???

DblD....

I'm so glad to hear it's not just my kids' rooms.....stuff goes in, nothing EVER comes out.....

Since I'm actually working today.....yeah, I know.....and the creative juices are flowing.....and I haven't OD'ed on coffee (yet) I'm thinking Riddlecon needs a slogan......

put your thinking cap on.......
DIScon was what? A meeting of friends....yes? something like that?

How about Riddlecon: a meeting of the minds.....

nah....keep thinking...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

What's everyone doing up so early. There was a party here last night!

Thanks for the Last Poster Pants. Probably the only ones I'll see today.

DS arrived home safely from his ski trip at 11:10 last night. I don't know if you remember that I was little concerned about this trip but it went fine. By the time we collected his stuff and got home and heard about the weekend, it was LATE. Kids don't have school for a professional day, but I have to get out and make a little money.

Gina - Congrats to DS. My kids both used to swim. Winning is nice but the best part is that they are both strong swimmers now and I always feel comfortable letting them go swimming with others.

Amid - Good Luck with the cookies. I never did the cookies, (I was a leader.) I did do Boy Scoout popcorn for several years. The butter smell really gets to you in a couple of days.

Re: RiddleCon, I propose a pool party Friday night at the Days Inn pool.

I will go read the riddle again but do not have high expectations for pants today.

Y'all are such a CHATTY bunch this morning! :)

Stephanie - thanks for doing the buddy list!!! I think it will be a fun way to get some more DISers involved. I think it was AngieBelle that came up with the idea for DISCon - it is a really neat idea. :) Oh! And I think your ALTERNATE was repeated once! (If memory serves!)

Marla - I'll need to go take a look at Elaine's post - for a minute there I thought you meant DAVE! I saw TLK at the IMAX here in town and hope to see it again with ScottWDW and some other DISers in Rochester. It is a really remarkable show on IMAX. The opening sequence itself is well worth the price of admission, IMO! :)

Chip - Hiya! Hey - better luck next time! ;) (Chip and I played an on-line game of Othello over the weekend - it was a close game except for the last three moves...;))

My DS has decided that he wants to take some time to party and veg out. Not too much we can do to dissuade him except to ask him to do it somewhere other than here. We're hoping that he learns just what it takes to make your way in the world. There is just no telling an 18-YO. :)

'Morning Dumboiu! :)

Gail - I actually built my DD a desk when she went into 3rd grade (she's a freshman now). She used it for years, but last year we replaced it with shelves, at her request, so she could have even more surface area for her stuff!

Mahsha - I agree - swimming is wonderful exercise! I love getting into the pool myself!

I admire your get-up-and-go, DblD! I hope to catch up with RiddleCon myself today! I'm really looking forward to meeting the rest of the DblD family. :)

Marsha! Oh joy, we get free snacks and a speach!
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm??!!! LOL! LOL! :p :p :p

Did Len have the Haggis, Kath?

Dan - I've been reading through it! I seem to have missed a big PARTY!!! :)

A meeting of the minds??? Hmmmm....a RiddleCon slogan, eh?

Howzabout what has 166 arms, 83 heads and smiles? :)

A RiddleCon slogan, inspired by the tea drinking on the other riddle thread.

Constant Comments - Constant Fun.

(Well, maybe not.)

LOL Breezy! The tea is great but the slogan...? Not too sure about that!:jester:

I like "Clueless in Sandusky", too Bernie! :p

Right now I'm clueless in Woodstock, over today's riddle. I'm going to PM a few guesses and maybe I'll get Alternate pants, at least.

Congratulations to your son, Gina! That is such an accomplishment! I wish my two had carried on with their swimming, once they got all their final badges. I used to enjoy watching them do their "lengths".

Dan is 18, too, but I can't imagine him leaving home yet. I know that day is coming one way or another, especially if he gets into university in September. I hope things work out well for Matt, Bernie, whatever route he takes.

How disappointing, Rob, to have your offer accepted, then taken back. Hope you find something even nicer!

Kathy, have you tried Chai Tea? That's my favourite!

Amid, that's quite a task you've taken on with all those cookies. Good luck!

DblD, I followed your posts and I'm so impressed at the speed with which you were able to book your RiddleCon trip!

Hope you are all having a great day! :sunny:

Good afternoon all! Sorry I haven't posted earlier - it's been one of those mornings. Two hour delay, DS got sick, my BIL is putting on an addition for us and LOVES to talk, etc. etc. etc.

It also might have something to do with my late night snack last night: Coronas, wine coolers, cheese popcorn, nachos and a smorgasbord...

Hopefully we can retire the old Riddle Me This thread soon - having 2 of them active is very confusing! How about that post count from Friday's riddle!!!

I am getting tons of PM's on Days Inn. Looking good!! Pool party Friday night sounds fantastic!

PM to Bernie on its way...
