Yes, we are bringing costumes. I will not be wearing it for our T-or-T but we will be entering the adult costume contest.

Hi everyone. Just got back from the hospital and guess what. James has broken his wrist!!!! I can't believe it. He fell over in the Drama Studio at school yesterday and this is the result.
At the moment he has a temporary plaster on and has to go back on Tuesday to be reveiwed and probably have something more permanent on.
We leave for WDW 2 weeks tomorrow. Anyone have any idea whether he will be allowed to ride any of the rides and if so, which. Obviously, anything too jerky will be out as it will hurt but will Disney stop him riding anything at all.
It will also put a stop to anything to do with water - no banana boat for him this year.
I know it could be a lot worse but at the moment I could just sit and cry. He is in a lot of pain and is worried about not being able to do much on his holiday.
Anyone got a hug to spare?
Karen

Karen, Honey he'll be fine. Give him a pain killer for now and you'll see in 2 weeks he'll be feeling much better.
As far as the rides go I've never seen it posted anywhere in WDW that you can't ride if your wearing a case on your arm. Put a plastic bag on it so he can get in the water. Don't forget to bring duct tape.
Hugs!
mdvasquez
10-02-2003, 09:59 AM
Karen: Sending you a great big hug!! So Sorry to hear about James. Not sure whether or not he will not be allowed on rides at disney. Is he able to take anything for the pain? You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Karen I am so sorry to hear that!!! -
In two weeks time, he will be just fine - And I agree with "ginger", A plastic bag and some duct tape, and he'll be able to go in the water -
I don't see a problem with going on rides either - I know he must be in pain right now, but that will subside with time -
Just think, everyone will be giving him so much attention - Maybe the characters on the ship can sign his cast!! Just trying to make light of the situation for you - But being a mother, it's hard not to feel pain when your child is in pain!

Karen, sending lots of big hugs your way! I was just thinking the same thing about the characters signing his cast, and Karen beat me to it! Great minds think alike! ;)
No adult costumes here. I couldn't possibly plan on fitting any more stuff in the suitcases. All these baby supplies we're planning on bringing is going to fill one suitcase alone!
The new Disney movie Brother Bear opens on Nov 1 (what movie opens on a Saturday??) Do you think we'll have a "PremEar" on the ship? That would be fun!

10-02-2003, 11:06 AM
I for one will be majorly upset if he lets a giant mouse sign his cast and not me! I said the exact same thing to my mum in the car on the way home from school. Let's look on the bright side, it saves money because we won't have to buy an autograph book!
I'll definitely still want to TorT. I really didn't like Common Grounds last year and so chances of me meeting many other people my age are quite slim. Plus I love hanging round with littlies, it's so much fun to get dressed up and act all kiddyish again. I know I do this in school anyway (yesterday we tried to dig our way out with spoons!) but it does provide me with an excellent excuse for my behaviour!

Karen,
Not that I am a dr. or anything, But when I was a kid I had a broken right arm and a broken left wrist at the same time( bike agenst car -- bike lost)! after the frst week or so no pain at all. This happend the end of June I was in casts for six weeks. I had fiberglass casts and was able to go swimming take showers with no problems.

Sorry to hear about that Karen. Hope he's doing ok and it all gets better as soon as possible for him.
Adults bringing costumes? Oh my wife will for sure. Me? Hmmmmmmmm ... Oh when am I not in costume I must ask myself!

Karen- Sorry to hear about your son. My DD broke her foot last year the day before we left for 10 days at WDW:( Not fun...... She actually was a trooper, the only thing they denied her access to was the pirates cruise from Grand Floridian(understandably). I just took her for a shop and out for breakfast while the rest of the kids went.
It is amazing how kids adjust.

KAREN: Hugs coming your way for you and James.
How about a fiberglass cast? Ask when you go back if they can do that and if it can get wet in the ocean. You still might now want James on the Banana boat, but it sure would be nice if he could wade around or float on the water.
I like Karen's idea that the characters could sign James' cast!! Take some permanent markers for that job. Then, when the cast is cut off, ask the MD if you can keep it, glue it together and have a momento of the trip.
Is he thinking of doing Halloween as a patient? Get him a bathrobe to wear and some slippers and perhaps a sling for the cast and then Oliver can be the doctor--borrow a stethescope or buy a toy one and have him wear a white lab coat over his slacks and shirt. Oliver could carry a little black bag for his treats and perhaps James could carry a pillowcase???
EMMA: You dug your way out of WHAT  with a spoon???

Karen,
Sorry to hear about James - the suggestions you have gotten here have all been good ones, and I bet he will be fine.
I doubt that we will bring costumes for us - perhaps something simple just to be in the spirit.
I have to say that our big "kid" (DS 16) wants nothing to do with TOT, but always has had a great time at common grounds, and has made some great friends on every cruise. We hardly see him the whole time.
Still counting down!

Karen - Sorry to hear about James. Hopefully he will be feeling better as time passes. The patient and doctor idea for costumes sounds great! Maybe he can put a positive spin on his misfortune.

Karen - Wow, sorry to hear about James. I hope that he feels better soon. I agree the others have had some wonderful ideas though.
Emma - I went TOT for a long time around here (Pocono's PA). That way my parent's could hand out and I could take care of my younger siblings. The funniest year was when I was given dog biscuits and told I was too old to be out. I think I was 15.

Good Morning Everyone.
It is a chilly 39 degrees here in Tennessee. The expected high today is 68 degrees. When the cool weather arrives, it reminds me how close we are to cruise time. We will be leaving home in 20 days.
Karen: So sorry to hear about James. I hope he feels better soon.
BTW: Adding a few more TorTers would be okay with us. We prepared for approx. 44. Just in case.
:firefight princess: :jester: :wizard:
The more the merrier.
Have a great day everyone.pirate:
Thanks for your good wishes everyone. James is feeling a bit better today and the good news is that according to people posting on the Theme Parks board, he shouldn't have too much trouble on rides at WDW.

Goodness--I haven't checked in for a few days and this thread has really grown!
I don't mind a few more Trick or Treaters, we have lots of candy. No costumes for DH and I, we're just going to relax!
Only 18 more days for us! We're flying to Florida on 10/22 and will spend a few days with family before the cruise.
I am soooooooooooooo ready for this vacation.

I'm back.
You have all convinced me to return!
I have a thread called October 25, 2003 that gives the details.
Anyone else had their room changed besides me?
Missed you all lots!
Rae
laurenk
10-04-2003, 08:29 AM
Rae- We have not been changed, nor have the other two parties sailing with us. That is weird. What room did they give you? Are we sailing on a ship "under construction"? No wonder there aren't reports of upgrades for the sailings out of dry dock.
I am glad you are back. I started posting right about the time you had had enough, but had been reading this post the whole time(lurking). I was disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to get to know you before the cruise.
My DS9 will turn 10 on the 26th is going to be Sorcerer Mickey. What has Michael been leaning towards?
We will be at the Raddison the night before, then Universal 4 days after the cruise. We are trying to break free of our "WDW only" vacations:(

I don't reacll if I have officially weighed in or not, but it doesn't bother to add a few more TOT'ers. So what is the final count?
Karen, I am sorry to hear about James' setback. It is the little things in life you must appreciate, and if there is a silver lining in your dark cloud, it is that it happened when it did. Thank goodness it wasn't like the day before you were due to leave, KWIM?
Rae,
I am glad to see that you are back amongst friends :teeth: And typing much better! HEHE:wave2: Guess that shrimo didn't do as much damage as he set out to do,eh? pirate:
laurenk, I do think it is strange that no one on this cruise has reported an upgrade :( Maybe you are correct. When we check in I intend to inquire about an upgrade, but only if the price is right! LOL If not I can save that money towards my next cruise:boat:
We are all getting very excited over here. It is just now becoming cool enough in the mornings that I dont want the kids wearing shorts (we leave at 630 am) but it is still quite warm in the afternoons here. SO we are really begininng to look forward to the warm Caribbean weather :-)
I have asked this before ( I think) but does anyone know of any other service I can use, besides DCL's, that I can order Chocolate covered strawberries?
WOW guys! we are almost there!
laurenk
10-04-2003, 09:13 AM
dzneprincess- I am going to check at the port for an upgrade for my parents. They are in a category 11.
According to another thread our ToT are going to be GLOWING. Seems "a few of us: have purchased glow in the dark accesories.:earseek:
I have been trying to slowly get it together here with our packing. My bedroom looks like a bomb went off in it. My cats are enjoying diving in and out of suitcases and bags. Our youngest one keeps making off with various items.
carole88
10-04-2003, 11:02 AM
Lauren - LOL! I'm glad that my bedroom is not the only one that looks like a bomb went off in it. I'm hoping to be able to see the floor by next week!

10-04-2003, 11:17 AM
Rae, welcome back! I missed your input a bunch! I was going to email you privately, but I didn't want to impose!
I've seen the thread about the glowing items. I was going to post that I almost got some glowing bracelets, but changed my mind! I'm glad now I didn't buy them, just to give the kids something different!
Anyone have thoughts on whether we'll see Brother Bear on our sailing?
Bye for now!:hyper: (I just love this hyper guy!)

10-04-2003, 11:18 AM
Oh! WOW! Rae your back with us again, and your typing has much improvement since the email I received from you. I'm glad Michael has settled on a costume. I know we went through a few changes before Ashley finally made up her mind. I hope he has decided to T-or-T with the rest of the children, I would like to take the ? mark away after his name on the list. If you would still like to have your stateroom listed as one the children can visit I'll need your new room number. I've been trying to put a route together for the kids to follow.
I haven't heard a thing from Doucia, so our count is at 40.
Cold and rainy here today, really looking forward to warmer temps and:sunny: .

10-04-2003, 11:34 AM
I would just like to have a bedroom to put a suitcase in to try to put things together. If you see people coming in terminal with plastic black contractor bags full of clothes, well that's us.
Our general contractor stormed out of here yesterday mad at the world because our cabinets are coming on the 13th, the house is nowhere near ready for them. His fault, he set the delivery date, not us.
So who knows now when we'll get this old house done.
All I know is I'll be on that ship sailing with you all come October the 25th.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :wave2:

For those of you looking for goodies. I have never dealt with them but, people on the board speak highly of Shirley and Norm. Their website is www.perfectgift.cc Chocolate covered strawberries is not one of the items in any premade basket but, she does take custom orders. Good luck!

Amanda, have you called Disney Cruise Line Gifts, they may sell them without purchasing champagne and petit fours. Look on the first page of the Food and Beverage section of your Disney Cruise Line Gift booklet. 1-800-601-8455.

Hi and thanks for the big welcome back!
It was wonderful to get so many private e-mails after my departure and honestly, I never lurked so I did miss out on a lot.
So I'm still whining about not getting my home on the seas stateroom (5622) and not sure what is going on - but I will try to call both DVC and CC tomorrow and get this straightened out.
If anyone is around Universal on Friday - we will be there!!!
If anyone has the original list that I started - send it to me - I have nothing to work from anymore and see we have new people.
Okay, two big questions.
WHERE IS OUR MEETING AT AND WHEN?
HIGH TEA AND BRUNCH?
Danke!

Welcome back Rae!
My room always looks like a bomb's gone off in there! I don't suppose my mum will accept the "but I'm sorting out things for holiday" excuse though.
I still don't know what to be for Halloween and I really don't have long now. Anybody got any suggestions at all?
Hey, Rae. What a sight for sore eyes. Welcome back. We missed you.
I think the meet is on Deck 10 forward after the lifeboat drill. The High Tea is on Thursday afternoon and I can't remember what we said about brunch. I will try to book the High Tea. I will dig out my list of who wanted to do that and post so we are sure we have everyone.
What time for brunch do you prefer Rae? Are we going to try for a group booking as planned before?

Hey Emma,
I think you could be a young Mary Poppins! Except not just for TOTing, you could volunteer to be MY Mary Poppins:crazy:
I am sorry to hear that DCL is kicking you out of your cabin Rae. Maybe the will make up for it in a very BIG way:hyper:
Speaking of rooms, oh my. When Nathaniel was born, my coworkers kicked in and purchased my a glider rocker, well it has now become the hold til we pack chair! YIKES! THey would kill me if they knew that so SHHHHHHHHHHHH
BTW, Andy I was able to get rid of my "moustache"  It came clean with alcohol! Not the drinking kind either princess:
Boy oh boy, I am having a major Disney withdrawal over here. I have not bee nto the world since last September and it is driving me crazy! Every one here, just doesn't understand. They all say, well you are fixin (yes we are in the south) to be on the cruise! And believe me,a s excited as I am about that, it is just not the same! I had even booked 2 nights at POR for after our cruise, but than decided against it. Because I want to spend more than 2 days there, KWIM? SO I am now trying to aim for a February trip. NOw the tricky part is, making my DH understand that we need to go to WDW and take a cruise next year..LOL Wish me luck.
Martel, I got some treat bags, and put 2 different kinds of candy in it, and a party favor. I did this before I thought about peanut allergies, so I apologize in advance to children who have those allergies. I simply was not thinking about that. Alos I can relate about DH not shopping. I have been after mine to go pick out a pair of dress shoes, I never realized that there were so many different styles of mens! Anyways he never did, so I went and picked for him! LOL
elfish, welcom aboard ! I hope you and your family have a marvelous time!
Ginger, I have not called DCL to see if they sell the strawberries seperate. I tried to call yesterday and help for over 5 minutes! ICK Is that normal for their line to be so busy?
OH yeah before I forget, where is this post about glowing items? I missed it? What was said?
KaitlinsMom
10-05-2003, 01:36 PM
Great idea - Emma to be Mary Poppins!!! wouldn't take much to put an outfit together -
Karen, how is your son James holding up? Then again, how are you holding up? Everything will be fine - Wait till you see how much of a fuss Disney characters will make of him! It will probably make the other two jealous!
Just to let you all know, I got one of those horrible viruses on my computer. DH is really mad because our computer is only 5 months old - Hopefully we will get someone out to fix it soon. He brought his notebook computer home from work so that is how I am able to post now. Don't know what I am going to do tomorrow - Maybe I will hide his computer!!!
I didn't think about allergies either when making my bags - I am sure the parents of the kids with allergies will go thru their childs bag and get rid (via their own mouth) of the ones their child is unable to have. Even though my children have no allergies, I have been known to get rid (via my mouth) of "potential allergies" (like kit kats, butterfingers)
Horseback riding is booked - I have yet to get a confirming email from Nicki - If I can find the phone number, I will give her a call tomorrow - Rae, I used a CC to hold my reservation, but do you know if she will accept cash for payment (US dollars?)
Went to Target yesterday to get all the bits and bobs for the trip - mesh laundry bag, lip balm, etc - Boy, that little stuff adds up!!!
Is anyone else booking a cruise while on board? I believe we are going to - Just not sure of what date to go for -
Karen, the high tea, is that on a sea day? If so, count me in - Just remind me what time - Thanks
That's all for now -
Karen

I am adding 2 children to the T-or-T list. These children should have been add sometime ago. Their mom emailed with their information asking to add them back in Aug. Well, I added them to MY list that I keep in my notebook and forget to put them on the board list.
Please forgive me everyone and if you all would kindly add 2 more children to your list making that 41 again.
BTW still haven't heard a word from Doucia???????
Linda and everyone else who has peanut goodies, I think my DD is the only child who has peanut allergies. But, I did post that I didn't. I love Snickers and Peanut Chewy.
We will be giving mostly candy. I do have (24) bubble rings that we were going to put in the younger kids bags but after reading a post by Amanda about the bubbles at the sailaway party we may just give them out then. I also bought crayons to give out which we may hand out early too. Sometimes the servers don't have them at dinner time. I bought a little boxes of animal crackers for our real little T-o-T'ers.
Karen, Kaitlinsmom, I will exchange any Butterfingers and Kit Kats for the 2 above candies.
Is your computer still under any kind of warranty? Did you have a anti-virus program running?
Karen, Emma's MUM I have those adult T-or-T candies again this year, See me.
Emma Mary Poppins is a great idea. We'll let you lead all the kids on the t-or-ting. Got your umbrella? LOL
Amanda, I've never had a problem getting through to them. But, I've only called them during the week not on the weekends. If you get some time during the week give them a call. I wonder if they are open tomorrow, I may give them a call myself. Ashley and I love those strawberries too. That would be a nice surprise for me to give her. I'll let you know. ASAP
Rae, didn't they give you a new stateroom number when they told you that 5622 would not be available?

Hi All-
Been busy, I need to get to Target myself. I have a list to buy a mile long for the cruise and it does add up
Ginger-Will you be passing out a final list when we cruise or is this it before we leave home?
Rae-what is the deal with your cabin? Did they not give you another. I know when I have slowly upgraded the pickings were slim and that is rotten to let you know now.
Can't wait to meet you all!

Ginger, we forgive you! ;) I'll just have to take you up on that offer of extra treat bags! Thanks for all your hard work on this!
Amanda, what does KWIM mean? And we know what you mean about Disney withdrawal. With the baby, we really haven't stayed at Disney or gone to the parks since Jan 2001. Before that we would go and stay at least once a year, for about a week or so. After the cruise, we're going to stay at the Poly for 2 nights, and go to 2 parks. Not a long trip, but at least we're visiting a little bit.
Karen (KaitlinsMom), got a big laugh about "via their/my mouth"
:rotfl: It's very true!
Hope everyone has a nice week!

WOW, you guys have been posting like crazy today. That's it. I can't go to work anymore - I miss too much. LOL
I got "good" news today. At least I hope so. My cottage is supposed to be ready by next week. That would mean I could be moved in before vacation!!! This is so exciting because I haven't lived "anywhere" for 4.5 months now. All my stuff is in storage and I've been sleeping at my parent's office. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Sure would like to sleep in a bed.
Kaitlin's Mom/ Karen - Do you need any info from me for the horseback riding? Also I can either pay on your account on the ship or send ot a check right away. Please let me know what you prefer. I'm also booking another cruis while onboard. I believe the 30th of October next year. Make this Haloween thing a tradition.
Emma - The Mary Poppins idea sounds really adorable and easy. Could you persuade your brothers to dress like penguins? What about chimney sweeps?
Rae - If your still up to taking on the brunch I would be interested. I truthfully don't remember the details from before but, there would be four of us. I hope you're able to find out something about your room soon.
Martel - I bought Halloween cups and packed them with taffy, pretzels, pixie sticks and some other goodies.
Elfish - WELCOME!

Brunch on Monday 10? I am not sure how many we can make at one time - anyone else know?
High Tea on Thursday? Again, I am not sure how many people we can put down at one time?
I'm in for both.
Okay, with group meeting on Deck 10 Foward!! It does get crowded quickly, so be sure to get there as fast as you can after the drill.
We are driving over from Universal Studios and will be wearing the orange shirts with jack o' lanterns.
I have a problem with my memory and with so many cruisers, please do not feel hurt/insulted or otherwise slighted if I can't remember your name/user name/kids names/ etc/etc.
I would like to suggest that we wear name tags (paper peel off kind) that would help us identify eachother.
I am going to try AGAIN to get this room situation figured out - wish me luck. DVC tells me to call DCL and DCL tells me to call DVC.
Okay, maybe I'll be sleeping on the deck after all!!

Brunch on Monday 10? I am not sure how many we can make at one time - anyone else know?
Rae,
We had the private room as you know for brunch at Palo on our cruise in August. we had our table set for 15 people, I don't know how much more you can get in there and feel comfortable.
That's if you are interested in the private room.

Hi All,
Yes, I adding another name. Count is at 42.
Poohbush, I've got 30 extra bags, so no problem. That goes for everyone who needs a few more.
Carolyn, that's great news. I can relate to having your stuff in storage. As you know it's gotten cooler here and Ashley was freezing, we had to go to our storage unit to find the poor child long pants to wear. No heat in our house but we are getting central air.
Rae, I hope you get your room straight. Maybe they'll give you an upgrade.
I do have peel and stick name tags for our met on deck 10.
Tiff, I'll have extra list with me.

As I mentioned my printer cartridge is empty and I don't see getting another for at least a week with everything I have going on so I wrote down the TOT list my hand  last night. I changed the 41 to 42 but I did not see a cabin was added or am I tired from hearing a 2 year old come in my bedroom ALL of last night and say "Moma get up"........... ?
Thanks-

Rae, count Mark and I in for the brunch. I'm sure you can do group bookings as Ginger did it for our cruise last year. You just need names and stateroom numbers. If you book the brunch, I will do the High Tea.
Which brings me to confession time! I can't find my list and can't remember exactly who wanted to do the High Tea on the thursday. The ones I can remember are
Rae and her Mum
Tiff (Buzz & Woody's Mom) x3
Kaitlin's Mom - I think but I don't know how many it was Karen
Carolyn - can't remember how many. Was it 3?
Someone else who now totally escapes me and I can't find it on the thread.
Oh and me, of course!
Sorry - it must be a senior moment. Can you please post again or PM me if I haven't included you or if you want to join in. By the way, do we still plan on being ladies only or do we want to include the gentlemen?

EMMA and KAREN: I love the idea of Emma being Mary Poppins and the boys being chimney sweeps. How hard would it be to talk them into wearing dark hats, pants and shirts and smudging their faces with something to look like soot? They would be getting messy, not dressed up. Would that appeal to them more?
How is James' arm? How is he feeling?
Have a wonderful cruise all!!

Hey everyone, we are back from Disney. MNNSHP was a blast. We had PERFECT weather:sunny: Not too hot and not too cold!! It was pretty empty there, we got right on all the rides. We also saw the new mickey's philharmusical (I think that is what it is called). Anyway, it is great, I loved it!!:hyper: The rest of the time we just spent by the pool and on the board walk. My feet were killing me after walking for 6 hours on Fri night.
RAE: Welcome Back!!
KEH Karen: Did you check out the mailing info for the TorT stuff?
We wont be doing Brunch with you guys, I will be with my family for that, however, I am thinking of joining you for tea, I'll let you know soon.::yes::

Carolyn, I don't believe I need anything from you for the horseback riding - Just maybe your stateroom number in case I need to come and wake you up? Glad to hear that you have a place of your own now - Having stuff in storage is such a pain!
My computer is still not working - Yes, I do have a virus software program running - But somehow, one of those pesty boogers got in!!! It's a Dell, every time I try to contact them, they keep refering me to their web-site and look at their FAQ's - I want them to send someone out to look at it - That looks like it will be a fat chance!!!
Rae, I was thinking of the nametag idea as well - I am so bad at remembering names and it looks like there is a really big group of us!
My DD (16) is dressing up as snow white - My little one(5) is also dressing as snow white - she wanted her big sister to dress like her - Any dwarfs out there? There's an idea for you Emma? Just kidding!!
Well, husband is getting ready to take this computer to work - won't be able to log on till later - Hope you all have a great day - Now don't post too much - It's hard to catch up sometimes with so many posts!

I went ahead and started on the nametags last week so I'll have those at the meet. Rae (and anyone else who missed the first time I posted) - I made wooden Mickey heads, painted them lime green and atttached pin backs. I'll bring a marker along so you can write your name.
For the meet - should we make a sign so that everyone finds everyone else?
Kaitlin's Mom - I'll be up! I'm much more of a morning person than a night one.
Karen (KEH) - For the tea, I think three. I can't get my mom to give me a straight answer. I'll let you know definate ASAP.
Rae - We would be interested in joining you for the brunch. We would be a total of four.
I found an awesome packing list the other day. I'll post the link here later tonight. The person that made it seems to be rather precise, as it is very detailed. I'm going to mark off what I don't think I'll need and go from there. Would hate to forget something!

No to brunch and high tea. Don't really want to make too many plans. Just want to relax and not think about much at all!
Tiff, you wrote that by hand?!?! Wow! And I thought I was list crazy! Hope you get some sleep tonight.
Rae, I know what you mean about the DVC/DCL "war." It's very frustrating. Though I love using points for this cruise, it does seem to come back and bite us in the bum when we need to access our reservation. Sigh!
Dena, how long was the Philharmagic show? Is it advisable to go see it if you're not going to wear the glasses? Just wondering if we should try to see it with the baby.

FYI -- when the TA and I complained to DCL about our cabin change, they upgraded us. Instead of cabin 5624 (which I could find my way to blindfolded) which is in rehab, we'll be in 7118 for the cruise. Sorry to do this, but would this change be noted in the trick or treat list?
Thanks!

LaurenK,
From what I understand, the Magic is currently in drydock for refurb. There are even some posts where you can see photos from Norfolk. I told our SIL in Williamsburg to go and see her. I don't know if we are the first cruise after refurb or not.
From what I have seen and expect from Disney, we hopefully will never even notice unless we try that some work is still going on during our cruise.
Does anyone know what (if any) changes they are making?
Thank goodness my Browns beat the hated Steelers last night . . . After a typical "fun" Monday at the office, that fact and the cruise getting closer kept my spirits up just a little.
Will Start to Pack this Weekend! Target here we come too!

We had a SPH last year and they were looking pretty worn out then. It's truly time to rehab that section of rooms.

She is supposed to have a new Teen club where ESPN was in the fake smoke stack. ESPN club is to be where Dueling Pianos was--hence the sadness on the part of the FIDELIO FAN CLUB, and the old Teen Club is to be a Coffee Bar--perhaps for adults only, but I am not sure about that.
Does anyone know of any other projected changes?

We are still in the same stateroom!
I went to walmart yesterday and bought my film, 2 disposable cameras for the youngest kids, a new video camera carrying case, and a few other travel size items. YEA!!! We are getting close now.:Pinkbounc
Ginger & Amanda: If you guys want me to pick up the strawberries, let me know, I can go to a local farm stand on Friday morning and get them and bring them to the Rad.
In 6 more days we will find out what we are having!:teeth: I can't wait to start buying baby clothes!!!
And finally, my oldest son decided where he wanted to go to college. Of course it is a private college where you can get your 2 yr degree in 12 months. And they only offer 6 different types of degreed programs all of which he is interested in such as Digital Media, Computer Animation, Game Design, you get the picture. Anyway, the cost for the 12 months is anywhere from $25,000 to 33,000.:( But it is what he really wants to do. I have two words for him student loans.
Have a great day everyone.
Dena::MinnieMo
Crikey, Dena, that's a lot of cruises worth of $!!!!
It seems that sending the sweets over will cost almost as much as the cruise (well not quite but it is expensive!) so I think we will just bring them over and take our chances with the dogs at the airport! I think I might take them out of the small white packages they are packed in though!! Don't want anyone getting the wrong idea if they open our luggage!

Hi all,
sorry havent been posting much. we all have the crud over here:worried: All the kids have had it, and I guess I was bound to get it :(
Ginger, yes I am staying at the Rad and will be more than happy to help you make strawberries! Right now I cant think about how good they may be, for fear of getting sick:(
I am very happy though I just took advantage of the new package from Disney for Visa card holders, kids play free. I am getting 5 days and 4 nights at POPcentury, and UPH for 2 adults and 2 children for less than $900! That is a Great deal!
I cant believe how close we are to sailing! I still have soo much to do, and it looks like I will be out of commission for at least another day. Ginger you say you have extra treat bags? I have extra treats to put in them, but I hate to buy a whole bag of 40 for just 2 extra. If you have them I could use them :-)

I left her a vm the other day reminding her to pack it and she called me tonight and said she can't find it. I posted on the DIS plus did a Google search and it looks like she can drive to Raleigh and get one in person or worse case order a $$$ from one of the quick turn around places  She did not seem to believe me when I told her DCL would not let her on without one and a certified copy..........so much for the early jump on my sickie toddler now I get to worry about this.........................hope everyone is well, can't wait but now I am a little worried :scared:

We are going to be at WDW in January for Ashley's 7 birthday. Jan. 18-24 staying at Old Key West. I didn't use Visa's deal, use our DVC points to pay for a 2 bedroom condo. I've racked up enough of the Disney Visa reward point to pay for a 5 day pass for Ashley. Some of Bill's siblings will be joining us, it should be fun.
Dena, I was think a little pink surrong(sp?) would be a nice present for your new baby. Can't wait to hear either.princess:

Hi all, Getting more and more excited! Can't wait to finally meet all of you! (Jan, wish you were coming too!)
We've been a bit under the weather here too. Had to take Katie to the doctor last week. She has been really congested, and has such a bad cough. She's getting better, but still has coughing fits.
Sure wish we could join you all at the Rad. Sounds like fun ::yes:: . I love choc. covered strawberries!!
Guess I need to scoot off to bed, it's getting pretty late.

I just typed a whole post and lost it before I could push the "post " button! ARGGGGGG!!!
Just wanted to say hi - Carolyn, I sent you a PM -
Rae, any news on an upgrade for you?
Karen, just get that chocolate here any way you can!!! Although, I am sure my DH will snag it from my daughter - Especially if it is Cadbury -
All those sickies out there - better now than while on the cruise - Hope you all are feeling better soon!! Drink some orange juice and just take it easy!!!
Till next time,
Karen
Hmmm, Karen, sounds like he might need his own bar!! (Chocolate not alcoholic)
Ladies High Tea still planned for the Thursday. Any more takers? I will post what I think is the list early next week so let me know as soon as possible. Don't know how much time I'll have on here next week as we fly to WDW on the 17th and nothing is packed yet!!!
Hope all of you are feeling better. Emma is a bit under the weather as well. I prescribe some sunshine and a cruise.

Spent 90 minutes on the phone with DVC - was it too much to think that the person on the other end understood what I was saying about wanting the same type room (Plexiglass rail - not solid) due to child safety issues?
Finally, he comes back with another room - again with a solid balcony and I have to explain it all over again about plexiglass. He seems a bit put out and says, "I am doing my best to accomodate you." And I said, "I didn't ask to be moved from the room I specifically booked a year ago - I'd prefer 5622."
Time passes.....finally he returns and acts like I should fall down on my knees to him because he tells me that I am now "upgraded". Before he got another word out, I say, "That doesn't matter to me - I'd rather 5622 than 8030 anyday." And I mean it. I really do like 5622 better!
So he tells me that I can have 7620 - the room that Paul and Kaye are still in!!! Now how can they fit all of us in that room?!
And why are they offering it to me when people are still in it?
He leaves and returns with a selection of two rooms (7594 and 7598) and says, "You are upgraded now and if you make any more changes after this one you will be paying $75.00".
I select 7598 and he repeats the warning so I repeat my statement, "I didn't ask for this change and only want what I had - plexiglass." He repeats his warning again to me and I say, "It wasn't my idea to change, it was DCL's." Okay, am I talking to a recording or a person since he AGAIN repeats this warning......
Okay, now I'm in 7598 and get an e-mail from Paul that he and Kaye have been moved also to 7594. So things do work out with faith and persistance and lots of time on HOLD!
Okay, we are in for T and T -
ALSO, the source of my "potty mouth" and "stress" has been eliminated from my life with one bold signature - Jynx has departed! She never did "take" to me and I just got fed up with her teeth, ears, eyes and attitude....
So now it's only the palomino gelding "Cheyenne" and Michael and I are both happier!!! Yes, I'll get a new picture up sooner or later!
Happier trails!

I am in 6108, is that plexiglass? I hope so, or I will have 2 kids overboard.
The only one sick here so far has been me. Really bad head cold and cough. Have been pumping family with Zicam, Echenesea(Spelling?), and Vitamins. My kitchen counter looks like my bedroom. Hope everyone gets healthy before our cruise!!

Sorry to hear that so many are sick, but it is good that you are all getting over it now. Sending out best wishes for healthy families.
Dena - if you can't go with the pink sarong how about a little sailor's hat? Can't wait to hear!

Rae, so glad to hear you're finally "settled" in a cabin. Sorry you had such a hard time. You're the one being inconvenienced, you'd think they'd be more understanding. I know I've said this before, I think you really got stuck between a DVC/DCL "war." Very frustrating! :crazy2:
I was just sent an email about special Halloween DCL in-cabin gifts. I'm passing it along, just in case you all are interested. I just checked the DCL site, and there is nothing about it there.

Carolyn, was it me you sent the PM to? If so, I haven't got it.
Rae, think we may pass on the parasailing. We were considering doing it with the boys - one with me and one with Mark but as James won't now be able to do it because of his arm, I don't think we will go for it. (Phew!!!). Maybe on the birthday cruise, if we get there.
Does anyone have the e-mail address for Nikki on Grand Cayman. I want to ask her whether we need a specific waiver form for Emma or whether a letter will do but the address is buried further down the thread and I can't find it.

Rae, my daughter and I are parasailing at CC - Our time is 1PM - Please join us - We can wear depends together - It is something I have always wanted to do, but was always hesitant - Then I waited for Andy (VM) to do it - When he said he enjoyed it, I thought, well, if Andy can do it, I can do it!!!!

Emma decide on a costume yet? Can't wait to hear what it is going to be -
We collect pins - But I bought a bunch of the pins on clearance at the Disney Store and that is what we are bringing to trade - We are not seriously into it - The girls do it and they just pick the ones they like - So it's not a heavy collection kind of thing.
Rae, glad your cabin nightmare is over - wish it was turning out the way you liked - Love to know what is happening to that cabin!

We have a metal railing not plexiglass. We understand the limited view. Needed to get an handicap room for DGM. However, what are the child safety issue's? we are traveling with a DS (7).
How high are the rails? Should I be concerned?

The kids can't see through the wood of the Navigator's Verandah nor the metal of the non plexiglass. SO, they have to be held up or UNSAFE UNSAFE UNSAFE - stand on something to see over the rail and look at the ocean.
NOT a very good idea at all - that's why we always go with the plexiglass and were upset about the change giving us the metal.
Even for us adults, we have to stand up to see the ocean rather than just be seated or look from our stateroom to see it.
My son is now 8 - and we've been cruising since he was 5/6. He was very curious and he thought he could just go outside and stand up on the table on his own. NO WAY!

Carolyn- My DD is not a serious pin collector either. She always brings the ones from the Disney Store to WDW for trading, then keeps them as momentos from each trip. She is bringing the clearance ones too.
I have a question about the spa please. I saw on the navigators that they offer reduced pricing on port days. Is that only good for same day bookings, or you get the reduced price when you book the first day. My DH and DM are interested in massages.

RAE: Do you have some documents showing the room you originally booked and some other documents showing the one you have now? If so, I suggest you take all of them so that when you get to port, and you ask if the first room is available by chance, you can SHOW them that you had booked it originally and that it was DVC/DCL that changed you, not you yourselves.

Question:
I know we are having our TOT on October 30 on a day at sea but I assume on Friday the 31st Disney lets all kids dress up and must have some sort of Halloween party???? We have early seating, do the kids wear their costumes to dinner that night?
Thanks-

JLSE50
10-09-2003, 12:26 PM
TIFFINY: Last year Thursday was the 31st. We did our DIS Halloween trick-or-treat-treasure hunt in the morning. Then all who wanted went to lunch together.
During the afternoon there were stations where kids (and adults) could get treats from Cruise Staff members dressed as pirates. It was not a party so much as trick or treating around the ship. Ginger would remember, but I am not even sure they had a map of where to go, so you would have to try every corner of every public area I guess.
Some kids wore their costumes all day. Many wore them to dinner.
Many adults wore them to dinner. Some wore them to the theater show.
We went to the theater show and semi formal picture opportunity with the Captian in semiformal clothes. Then we changed to our costumes, went back for a photo op with the Captian, went to dinner and then the costume judging.
We only wish we had shared our costume ideas on the thread as one family went as three of the dwarfs and we might have had a better chance at a prize if we went with them--Snow White, the prince-now-a-king-as-we-do-not-look-20-any-more and three of the dwarfs. There was also a couple who went as Cinderella and the Prince-now-a-king and if we had gone with them we could have been billed as the DISNEY KINGS AND QUEENS. But it was fun anyway,

10-09-2003, 01:00 PM
Tiff: We did not know unti we were on the ship and got our Navigators each day what they were going to do about Formal and Semi formal nights. They did switch them around as I recall.
If there is bad weather so they cannot get to a port, and they spend a day cruising around looking for sun, then the activities will be different from what you would find on one of our Navigators from last year or a recent one anyway.
My advice is to take the various outfits and when you get the Navigator each night for the next day, check and see what is planned and decide what to wear then.
Also, ask the kids. They may have plans they made with friends from one of the Clubs so if you try to run counter to that, you will have unhappy campers. If they want to wear costumes every night, what the heck, go for it.

Tiff, I think it's Sunday night for Semi-Formal, Wednesday night is Mex's night and Thursday is Formal.
You never know about your dining rotation till you get your KTTW Card.
The T-or-T that Disney had last year aboard the ship in my opinion was poorly organized. I don't remember if they gave us maps to find the stations. But, when you did find one the lines were long, we didn't bother.

Hello everyone, I never thought I'd be asking this question as I truly didn't think an upgrade was in our future. I don't even understand why Disney gives upgrades or how you qualify for an upgrade. This is our first Disney Cruise afterall, and although I feel like I"ve learned a ton from all of you veteran cruisers I still feel pretty clueless.
Well, we just got a call from our travel agent telling us we got an upgrade! We went from a regular outside room to a room with a verandah. My first question was, "how much is this going to cost us?" but to my amazement the upgrade IS free!! God is so good! This is truly an unexpected, wonderful surprise for us.
Of course, now I see some of you talking about unsafe verandah's. We have an 8 year old and a 4 year old. Am I going to regret getting this upgrade because I have to constantly worry about my kids falling overboard? How would I go about finding out if we have a plexiglass or solid rail? I see very little about verandahs and their descriptions in the brochure I have and the DCL website. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

If anyone knows for sure let me know. I am going to only open the doors for my 2.4 and 5.5 year old DS's if I am with them to be safe! I was also told the safety lock is very high, over my height of 5'5".

Verandah Man: We are now in 7520. I still can't believe our good fortune!! Even if it's not a plexiglass railing - we have a VERANDAH! :bounce: We feel so incredibly blessed! :sunny:
Ginger: Since you said Tiff has a great room because it's close to the elevators, I guess I don't need to worry about whether proximity to the elevators is a bad thing either! Have a safe and wonderful trip. Let us know when you get back.

This is all because the rooms haven't been finished and the Magic is returning to service. I am so glad to know so many will be getting upgrades!! HURRAH!
Ginger - deepest appreciation for taking over the list and being so efficient in keeping it up to date. HUGSSSS!
Anyone hear if the talent show is still going to be held now that the SUITS have taken away our Off Beats and Dueling Pianos?
Maybe they will have a coffee chugging contest instead.

Well group,
I gave my DW quite a scare on Wednesday morning, and have been off the boards for a few days. I woke up, got ready for work, and all of a sudden, the whole world started spinning. It got so bad, that DW had to call 911 as I could not get up off the floor. I had to keep my eyes shut, or I would lose it entirely.
They took me to the hosp, and I was diagnosed with vertigo. I have NEVER been ill on any ride, never been seasick, or anything of the sort, and there I am with vertigo. They said it was due to a recent URI that had probably moved to my ears. I have slept for two days straight, and am just today able to amble around the house. However I have that "just got off a 7 day cruise" feeling in my legs as I walk around.
This is indeed a strange experience. DW says I cannot mow the grass tomorrow, and I cannot go to the Browns game on Sunday (we'll see). Our Doc (also a DVC member) who knew we were going said no thrill rides at WDW as this can last for several weeks. I'm going to see if I can sneak away for mission space anyway (don't tell DW!).
Thank goodness this happened now instead of in two weeks! They would have had to carry me on the ship in a gurney before I would miss this cruise! So, the ground is rolling already for me, and I haven't even boarded the ship!:yo-yo:

WOW Jhalkias! I am soooooooooooo glad that it wasnt anything to serious like a heartattack or something! I cant believe you have vertigo!!!!!!! Will the motion of the ship affect you at all????

Thanks everyone for the concern!
This was once again, really odd. I had an infection the week before, and had just finished a Zpac prescription. This hit totally without warning. My DW was scarred to death.
I told her, this tells you our varied outlooks - she's worried I have had a heart attack, and I'm riding to the hosp in the back of the ambulance thinking, I bet I'll be going home soon with something silly . . . I was making jokes with the EMS people with my eyes shut the whole time about how poor the driving was, etc.. It sure does make you feel very thankful though for good and quick emergency response people.
Right now, I just can't make any jerky motions with my head, or it feels like I'm still spinning. Otherwise, doing better and better. Sometimes focusing on the computer screen can be a bit jerky too.
I'm trying to cut a deal that if I don't cut the grass (one of my favorite things to do - no kidding!) and I let her drive, if we can go to the Browns game. Please! :teeth:

JKALKIAS, Hope you feel better. Thinking about you.
Did we jump the gun?
We upgraded to a Verardah solid railing stateroom, however we needed a handicap room for DGM.
I think she would have been find in a reg. statroom, but she did'nt .
We had SPR 5020, would we had gotten an upgrade?
Can't wait.

Jhalkias - Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. Relax and rest so you can be better for vacation. And I agree, there is no way you should miss the Browns game (good game last week by the way)
Jhalkias, hope you are feeling much better now.

KEH - I decided to wait till we board. She wants to go, but she just wants to make sure a lot of teens are going -
You leave soon, don't you?
Karen
Yes, we leave on Friday. As I type this nothing is packed (and I mean nothing!) and some things aren't even bought yet. I will have to get moving this week. We are still having trouble over the Halloween costumes as the boys don't know what they want and Emma knows what she wants but we can't find it!!
Hopefully, we will get sorted soon but somehow I don't feel in control of getting ready to go. Last minute panic heading my way. One thing I must remember is that Cadbury's chocolate.

Just taking a break from packing....Michael is now done....or at least he will have enough clothes for the trip!
I do have mine yet to do, but I cleaned out my closets also and got rid of the larger sized clothes left over from last winter and even last cruise.
Must be all that horsework I have!

Hi everyone. Okay, Ladies High Tea on the Thursday. This is who I think is going:
Me
Rae & her Mum (Rae, remind me of your new room number)
Buzz & Woody's Mom x 3 (Tiff, remind me of your room number, please).
Anyone else? Carolyn? Karen ? If so PM me with room number and last name. I want to get this straight in my head so I can make the ressie as soon as we board.
Rae, shall we book brunch ourselves for 10am on Monday and ask them to link it to your reservation or are you planning a group ressie?
The packing has finally begun in our house! And now I realise how much we still have to get. Looks like this week will be a bit of a mad panic. Only a few days now till we leave. can't wait for some of that Florida sunshine. Autumn is definitely setting in here.

Hi ºoº , was wondering if I should pack sweatshirts? :chat: :wave2:
It was a little chilly on the odd night last year but the place I found chilliest was actually the restaurants. I would definitely recommend something to go round shoulders at dinner in case the air conditioning is at full tilt.

Karen,
Your daughter's reference to "Hoovering" made me laugh. We live in North Canton Ohio, home of the Hoover Company, and birthplace of the Hoover sweeper!
Feeling much better now! Almost normal today.
Nadtwins - I did a search using "packing list" as the words to search and found quite a few useful lists. If you haven't found it by tonight, I'll post the site later after work. Got to run to work now!

Karen - book me with you for lunch - I am hoping to get back to 5622 but if not I'll look up the new room number, I think it's 7598.
Yes, Monday 10AM for brunch - me and Mum (love that!!)
And also High Tea for Thursday -
Emma - I'd like some down time with you to talk more about your writing talent - you are exceptionally creative and your writing shows it.
Okay, I've packed (sort of) - realizedwhat I forgot in the first go around....so now I need another day to repack!
Saw a wonderful British written play, "Will You Love Me in the Morning" - just absolutely the funniest play I've ever seen. Haven't heard of it before, but same pair who wrote the Avengers did this one and it's non stop laughter.

Okay, I finally went shopping (like the rest of you did weeks ago). Now I can start to pack.
Jhalkias - Glad to hear you're on the mend. Were you allowed out to go to the Browns game?
Nadtwins - Here is the email for a really specific packing list. http://www.geocities.com/Calgon1/UPL-2_Adults_Warm.html I needed to tweak it a bit (to both add and definately to remove) and it is for adults without children but, it might get you started. Also the best tips in one place thread (might be back a few pages) has a lot of great ideas.
DVCLady - I would second the yes vote for sweatshirts. We went up on the deck on night (by the basketball courts) and the wind was definately brisk. You could also purchse them there, if you were planning on doing so anyway and save luggage space.
Strissel - The dress recommendations say like a sundress or pants suit. No shorts are requested for the high tea.
Rae - Are you still planning the brunch? Congratulations on the weight loss!
KEH - I sent you a PM about the high tea. Thanks again.
Emma - So what was the final decision on a Halloween costume. You did make a decision right? :) I might be in the same boat as you; my costume has not yet arrived and we leave in one week. UUUgh, so nervous.

ALSO, is anyone going to be going to Wilderness Lodge during the week before the cruise? I need a favor.
AND besides Paul, Kaye, June and my family - anyone going to be at Universal Thursday or Friday before the cruise?
AND does anyone flying in need/want anything that we can get for them for the cruise?

Been trying to get the packing thing done myself. My kitchen cabinet where delivered today way ahead of our current working schedule here. I've had to moving things out of my livingroom which is 1 out of the 3 rooms we are living in to make room for them. I've got no place to place a suitcase to pack it.
We had a great time in Lynchburg, Va, but no trophy to show off.
Karen, I hope you all have a great time at the World. I'll bring the T-or-T list up so you can make a copy.

Ok all HELP  Now I admit my 5 year old DS was a piece of cake to raise "thus far" but this toddler is killing me............he is what we call active  He is big for his age (2 years and 4 months), he is potty trained and has been sleeping in a toddler bed for 4 months bc he is so big the crib was too confining. Now as many of you know the boys and I have been living with my parents for 2 months while our new house is being built and my DH is deployed. Cade my 2.5 year old sleeps in his own room in his little toddler bed. Last week he was very sick, bad cold flu yucky bug! So understandbly he cried bc he was sick, had a fever etc. He has never been a cuddly baby when he is sick. I think it goes back to my aneurysm at 36 weeks and all of the time he spent in the NICU fighting to live while I was in the ICU trying too. So he does like to be held while sick just for you to be there. Other Mom's of premies know they are very sensitive to light and noise. Ok, he was feeling MUCH better yesterday, ate, drank fluids and played outside all day. Last night I put him down at 8:00 pm when my 5 year old goes to bed and then at 1:00 am Cade comes into my room and just sits there talking to me and refusing to go back to bed until 5:00 am!!!
1. I can't let him cry bc I am staying with my parents even though they say to let him. He is in a toddler bed and can get up so it is going to be a war of him getting up, me putting him back in bed etc. all night :( Last night I got 1.5 hours of sleep and I can't take it. He has always slept thru the night since he was 4 months old. I don't want him waking up my 5 year old who is now in Kindergarten and I am stumped about what to do:crazy:
Maybe he is still sick or got used to me getting him last week I don't know but he is going to be sleeping on the balcony if he does not stop this mess by the 25th
Also, where should he sleep in our cabin. I had asked for a railing so he could sleep on the sofa bed bc I did not think he would sleep in the pack n play since he is so large...................
I just needed to share but at least I am ready for my Tired Mom's costume:hyper:

Tiff, what if anything is he eating before he goes to bed. If he's not having a bedtime snack try giving him one. But nothing with alot of sugar in it, a peanut butter sandwich may help him sleep. A warm bath than a bedtime story. He may be going through a growing spurt. Now, if none of this works a hammar on the head might,LOL just kidding.
Did you MIL get her Birth Cert. ?
John so glad your feeling better.
BTW, I thought Brunch and High Tea's dress code was resort casual, meaning shorts were welcomed. Sundresses and Pant Suits were for evening dining at Palo. I hope they didn't change it.

Ginger-How was the competition this weekend? Thanks for the advice. He gets no sugar at all and will only drink milk or ice water. He does get a snack at night and I have been very careful on what cold med's he was taking bc I know my my 5 year old DS and myself get crazy on whatever is in most cold medications  I think I will get out Chance's sleeping air bag and put him with my parents and stand guard on the toddler caper pirate:
Yes, my MIL drove to Raleigh and got her BC all I can say is thank goodness I am Type A and thank goodness another thread caught my eye when I was lurking last week bc it spurred me to call her and remind her to pack her BC, my goodness I did not know she could not find her BC at all let alone pack it.........poor thing told me in ther sweet southern accent "won't they just be able to tell I am American"?
Tiff
Tiff,
We had similar problems with one of ours, coming into our bedroom and staying there for hours. We found the only way to stop it was to take them back to bed and firmly but nicely put them back in. Of course shortly after there was the patter of feet again. And so we repeated the process! Again and again! Accompanied by tears when they realised that, yes, they were going back to their own room again. It was not good for catching up on sleep but it did work in the end - gradually, the intervals between trips to our room grew longer until one night we realised that we had had an uninterrupted night. Days rather than weeks or months.
I know if you are staying with someone else it is hard if they are being disturbed but perseverance and patience is the only way, I'm afraid. I'm willing to bet your parents will have gone through similar in the past, most parents have, and will understand.
If you are getting nowhere a little bribery (I mean gentle persuasion!!) can help. A promise of a star on a chart for every night (or hour depending how bad he is) that he stays in his own room, with a small gift that he really wants after so many stars.
Above all, my love, hang in there and keep calm. All phases pass and the problems just change as they grow. If he sleeps in the day, can you catch up on some sleep yourself then?

Thanks Karen for taking the time to answer me when you are so busy with getting ready to leave. I am at my wits end since his personality is so different than my 5 year olds and I do tend to have guilt from having the aneurysm while pregnant with him. I would try and bribe him but he just turned 2 at the end of May so he is not able to barter with me yet............wish me luck tonight but I am going to take him back to bed each time. It is weird he does not nap during the day, goes on very little sleep and seems fine but he just wants to see me. Maybe some attachment issue or missing his Daddy :(
Thanks!

Rae - I was going to offer to go over to the Wilderness Lodge for you because I've never seen it but, Jhalkias beat me too it. :D Oh well. We might take a bus ride to satisfy my curiosity anyway.
Although nothing is set in stone, our group is discussing going to Universal on Friday. It depends how much fun everyone is having at Disney, I guess. Maybe we'll see you there.
As for picking up things - are you going to a liquor store? IF you are (and only IF YOU ARE already stopping at one) I would love a bottle of Watermelon Pucker. Please let me know so I can get money to you. I'm in training to be a wild single woman but, this is about as wild as I get so far. LOL
Dena - Congratulations!!!! Do you and your family have a name picked out yet? I'm sure you can find some adorable tropical things.
Tiff - Was Disney able to supply a railing for the bed? Sorry I can't add any advice. No kid experience here yet. Although I had a string attached from my bed to my younger sisters' when she was younger so that she wouldn't be scared. Weird I know but, it worked.
John - What a nice guy you are. Doing the shopping and everything.

Tiff,
Just an FYI. Our 3 year old is now sleeping in our bed with us because she could not make the transition to the "big girl" bed. I know that some parents may think this is coddling, or too lenient. All we can say is:
We both have to get sleep to be able to go to work in the morning, and,
Every child is different, and goes through different phases.
Only you really know your own children. If you use your best instincts, and always treat them with the love and care they need, it will turn out well. Our son is now 16 (yes, big gap, quit laughing), and he went through phases similar to this. Many nights I would lay on the floor in his room until he fell asleep. Many nights he slept with us.
I am proud to say he is a well-adjusted 16 year old young man, an honor student, champion debater, and wants to go to medical school. While all that did not guarantee any of what he is today, love, kindness, and understanding should help raise good young people, who can become caring adults.
All the advice in the world may not be right for your very special child. Do what you think is right, and roll with the punches. As you already know, parenting is an adventure every day, and every child is unique - that's what makes them challenging . . . and FUN!
Almost forgot, Carolyn, do make that trip to Wilderness - you won't regret it. It is still our very favorite resort, and the lodge is absolutely awesome! No other WDW resort makes us feel so rested and relaxed. If you do nothing else, spend a 1/2 hour sitting in the lobby and kicking back - it's a real treat!

John I agree each child is different as is the parenting. I noticed with our 5 year old every few months in his baby and toddler years he would go through a sleep adjustment, maybe that is what this is???? Thanks for your input. The thing is though he is not wanting to sleep with me or I would gladly let him so we both could get some sleep. He is wanting to just sit there and play and talk  he is only 2 he must be tired I am having newborn fuzzies
Anyhoo, ready for war tonight. I have the Bob the Builder bed sleeping bag blown up and ready to remove my 5 year old DS so he won't be disrupted by the battle and I plan on taking Karen's advice and taking him back to bed each and every time and then if that does not work I will boot up the computer and serf like I did last night to keep up with him and awake
Wish me luck!

TIFF: If the baby does not want to sleep with you, would he like that Bob the Builder sleeping bag beside your bed? or a blanket on the floor? just so he is near? Maybe then he could sleep and let you sleep.
It worked for us when life was stressful for DS#2. He is now 22 and is happy to see us go places as he gets to house sit while he job hunts. He has a BS degree as does his 26 year old brother who lives three states east of us and is working on a MS.
Both spent time in our bed so all could sleep. We just figured that down through history people had been sleeping in heaps, so why should we hassle it.
This too shall pass.

It does not worry me so much about our cruise but my new house is within a month of completion and this would send everything overboard we got brushed by the last hurricane................

Good morning everyone.
Tiff: Glad to hear you had a good night sleep. We went through something similar to that with my oldest and youngest. We had them bring in their blankets and pillows and sleep on the floor right next to me. And with my oldest, although I hate to admit it, if he was not into sleeping, I would put on a Disney movie for him (sleeping beauty or winnie the pooh were his favorites) and when it was over he would already be alseep, or ready to go back to sleep. Now at 16, he is a great sleeper and hardly watches any tv, so I guess we didn't damage him too much.
We have two names picked so far: Emily or Lily. However my DH family doesnt like Emily and my family (my DM) doesnt care too much for Lily. So its probably going to come down to when we see the baby, we'll know who she is.princess: And of course, we have to pick middle names, which we are having a hard time with. Feel free to share your suggestions.:p
Well, thats all my news from FL talk to you later.

WE ARE SCHEDULED FOR THE EARLY SEATTING FOR DINNER. AND HAVE SOME QUESTIONS, HOW MUCH MORE NOISY IS THE EARLY THAN THE LATE, IS IT EASYER TO GO TO THE SHOWS BE FOR OR AFTER DINNER? dOSE IT EAT INTO TO YOUR DAY TO GO T0 THE EARLYSEATTING? i KNOW THAT PERSONAL PREFRANCE HAS A LOT DO DO WITH WICH SEATING IS RIGHT FOR SOME ONE . I AM JUST TRYINF TO NARROW DOWN THE PROS AND CONS. I WANT LATE MY INLAWS WANT EARLY! THANKS FOR THE INPUT!!!!
Nadtwins, how old are your children - sorry I can't remember. This may influence when you want to dine. Would late seating be too late for them? or would they be okay?
We have done late seating both times (the kids were 9 and 11 the first time) and had no problem. Mind you we do eat fairly late at home anyway. We like being able to go the show before dinner and then take time over our meal. However, the only drawback was that I was too full from dinner to have anything from the dessert buffet. Mind you, I had eaten all of 2 desserts at donner that night as well as the rest of my meal so it probably wasn't surprising.
I suspect you will get posts advising that both seatings are fine and each have advantages and disadvantages, which probably won't help you to make up your mind!! I think you might find that changing from early to late seating might be easier than the other way round.
You will have fun whichever you do - you just need to adjust the order of what you do a bit.

Thank you for your responce. My kids are 12. We eat kind of late at home my inlaws eat at 6:00pm like clock work! When I was younger I was much more laid back What ever happend happaned nothing boterd me! I think I would be happier with late but I am trying to make everyone happy! ( I keep forgetting that is imposable)
Just remember that you need to be happy too and don't stress it too much. What seating do you have at the moment?

Can you believe how close we are everyone? This is so exciting - Karen, you are closer than the rest of us!! Are you tearing your hair out yet?
Ordered my baskets from Shirley - She is so wonderful to work with - Can't wait to see them - But SHHHHHHH - don't tell my family, it's a surprise -
Speaking of family, I have told them that this weekend is packing weekend - Once it goes in, it doesn't come out until we are on the boat! I think my 5 year old wants to bring her whole room!
We love doing the late dining - And we have a 5 year old with us - We never felt rushed going anywhere - I think the time difference for us does help (3 hours because we are west coast)
We could always roam the ship and take our time - I liked it because Kaitlin could have her picture taken with the characters in the Atrium before dinner - Which is great because her clothes were still clean! It just workeds better for us!
Hope all is well with everyone -

dzneprincess - Watermelon pucker is a watermelon flavored sweet and sour schnapps. We use it mixed with vodka to make watermelon martinis. Pucker also comes in a few other flavors. My husband likes the apple flavor for apple martinis. There is a liquor store called ABC Fine Wine & Spirits at 6020 N. Atlantic Ave. in Cape Canaveral.

First off I have not packed  My usual Type A personality is in slow motion. I do have a plan though. I emailed my MIL a packing list. I am going to a Walmart Super Center to buy remaining items bc I have almost everything just not all together :p and then while shopping for items at Walmart I can have the oil changed in my van  Plus I looked all day for a new umbrella stroller with the net on the bag to hold little things but did not find one and then I tried to find just the net that you can hook on the back, no luck.................I realized Florence SC is not the shopping capital of the world so I will head to Myrtle Beach to search this weekend.
I like both Emily and Lillie but what about Emma? Like our sweet smart Emma aka Rosegreen thumb that started this thread so long ago for us? I love that name.
Oh well, anyone else watching TS #19 or am I being paranoid? Not so worried about the cruise but my house which is running behind contract........of to the sleeping war with the 2 year

We used to love the late seating, when it was just the two of us! Now with Katie, we're going to stick with early dining. Don't want to alter her schedule too much! So glad the waitlist cleared!
I also ordered Perfect Gift baskets from Shirley. What a sweetheart she is! Her granddaughter is also named Katie, so we talked about our girls! I ordered a sand pail basket for my little sweetie. And I ordered a "surprise" basket for my in-laws. What's in their basket is the surprise, as I just asked Shirley to make up whatever she felt like! Should be fun!
Tiff, hope you get some more sleep tonight!

Regarding the special Halloween gifts you can order thru DCL: My TA called me a couple of days ago to say she had recieved a brochure with all of this info. for us. I told her it was old news. She did say it had pictures of the items. I am going to pick it up here soon. I would like to see what the gifts look like.
Tiff- My 9, soon to be 10 year old twins are asleep on my bedroom floor as I type. Daddy isn't home, and there is a thunderstorm. I figured out early on that they will be in here quite often, that's okay, because before you know it they will act like we have the plague and want nothing to do with us.
I half packed today, then decided it was too much and turned on Dr. Phil. I am a big type A person, and can't believe how much I am procrastinating! We leave next Thursday(driving down) and have so much more to do and arrange.:earseek:

Okay guys, looking for a bit of help here. We want to wear t-shirts when we board so that other DIS'ers can spot us (and give us a wide berth!!). Mark is going to print these.
We can go for some Halloween picture but Mark would like to link it to Emma's DIS name Rose Greenthumb in some way. Any ideas? All I can find at the moment are pictures of hairy fat male hobbits and I don't think Emma will be impressed.
Any suggestions where we can find some clip art or designs quickly. Yes, I know, we are leaving on Friday, why the heck are we doing this now!!??!! It's called upping your stress levels.

I've heard ocnflicting reports everywhere about the shorts on Mexican night. My personal opinion (not that it matters :) ) is that your sons are young enough to wear nice shorts for that evening. As for your DD - I plan on looking for something in Cozumel; a dress or pareo or something fun.

Anyone else? I am going to pack the list safely with my documents so want to get it finalised soon. Thanks.
Rae, I've forgotten again how we are booking the brunch. Sorry, it's another senior moment brought on by packing. I think we said that Mark and I would book for ourselves and for you and your Mum, linking the two. is that right? Help!
And now I'm really stressing over the packing. We have too much space in the cases! Good, I hear you say, no excess baggabe charges and room for souvenirs. But I'm afraid it really means that I've forgotten something, probably lots of somethings. I feel a wobblie coming on.

Carolyn, can't remember about booking the brunch. It would be great if someon e did a group booking using our names and staterooms '*** I am stressing out enough with booking the high Tea but as long as I know what we are doing I will go with the flow. Rae - help, what did we decide?

Dear KEH -- my last name is Strissel. I'll be in the company of my husband, Chris, and my son, Robert. If you want to catch a glimpse of me and my family, why not check out www.strissel.com.
Actually, a couple of decades ago, my last name was Hopp. A good German name, huh? You know, hop, an ingredient in beer. Well, as fate would have it, I married a "Strissel", which, wouldn't you know it, is a type of "choice hop" used in beer. So, I'm just the regular hop and the spouse and son are the choice ones.
As for packing, my guest bedroom looks like a tag sale. Clothes, hangers, toiletries are everywhere. Happy packing everyone.
Sandy
Well, Sandy, that couldn't have been simpler could it!?! Blame my age and the stress of packing.

Use your cabin restroom, take hand sanitizers, take 2 antibacterial soaps for each bathroom and travel size antibacterial wipes.

Hi,
Amanda, you're very welcome! Glad I could help! We decided to not order any Halloween stuff from DCL. We did baskets from Shirley instead.
Tiff, I hope we don't have too much to worry about from TS Nicholas. Storms this time of year usually turn north in the gulfstream.
Karen (KEH), the T-Shirts sound great! What fun that you'll be wearing them together. I'm sure it's a relief knowing one less thing you have to think about. Best wishes on your departure tomorrow! Have fun at Disney!
Dena, Emily Marie is beautiful! Marie is my middle name too (very common with Tina.) We were going to name our DD Kathleen Marie, but opted for Kathleen Nicole instead.
Rae, do you still have Red?

Hi all! Just got on for a minute, I told Bill I was just going to lurk. He laughed and said... YEAH! Good Night!
Dena, both names are beautiful. My favorite names is Dawn, mine and Ashley's. It goes well with just about any first name. Like Emily Dawn. LOL... had to get my $.02 into the naming of the baby.
Karen and family I hope you have a safe trip to Fla. Once there I wish for you great weather and a wonderful time. See you soon.
Amanda, I've packed 2 containers of Dolci Frutta choc. and wax paper. If you have, around the house, mini cupcake wraps they would come in handy, but if not don't worry. Do bring a large size container to store them in. Make sure it something you can put them in so they won't get crushed.
For everyone us going to the parks before the cruise, I wish you all the same as I've wished for Karen. Great weather and a wonderful time.
Bring the list up.

Thanks Ginger for you diligence in maintaining our list :earsgirl:
I actually printed it too  I was just thinking that 1 week from today we will be getting ready to drive down on Friday for the cruise and then 4 nights at WDW .
Hope everyone has a safe trip :wave2:

Tiff: you beat me to it. I was just thinking that this time next week we will be at the Radisson. Probably resting from a long day of driving.
Dena: Congratulations. Girls seem to be outnumbering the boys this year. Six of my co-workers are pregnant now. Four of them are having girls, one boy and the other does not know what sex her twins are yet.
I think I have finished shopping. DH is picking up film. I have most of my things together already. Tomorrow I need to work on getting DS's things together. I also need to work on our t-shirts. We wanted lime green tees. I had a hard time finding them locally. I ended up ordering them online. The were very inexpensive and arrived in 2 or 3 days.
I had better get to bed so I can start early tomorrow.

Hi everyone. Last post before we leave. The alarm has just rung and now I have to get 3 sleepy kids up. Somehow I think it might be easioer than on a school day.
I am so excited that I can't think straight. The packing finally got done and anyhting we haven't got now will have to stay here. I have checked the documents about 100 times - hope they haven't jumped out of the bag overnight!
Dena, we will see you on Saturday. Everyone else have a wonderful week and keep safe. See you on the Magic.

I don't know what you mean mum! Surely you're not implying I'm not this excited to get up and go to Physics?!

Safe trip Karen, Emma and all the others who will begin their travels this weekend.
We leave Sunday ourselves.
No, Red is gone. He was too much for us to handle - so now Michael just has his golden palomino "Cheyenne" and they are a great team. They are eyeing this little paint for me, but it might be a while before I get to ride him since I think DCL frowns on horses on the ship!!
God bless and safe trip to all!
