Dena the baby is adorable :) I can not believe how much he has grown. They grow up too quickly don't they. It seems like I was just pregnant with my 27 month old:rolleyes:
I just caught my typo in my last post. I am now Buzz & Eoody's Mom no longer Buzz & Woody's Mom. Last Halloween we did the 4 day Wonder which got back on the 31st and then MNSSHP and 4 days at WDW thus my name here of Buzz & Wood'ys Mom. My older son was Buzz and the baby was Woody.
This year since they will be Peter Pan and a Pirate I should change my handle to Peter Pan & Captain Hook's Mom :)
My poor 27 month old, my 5 year olds Peter Pan costume came in the mail and I did not end up getting my 2 year old the Captain Hook costume from the Disney Store. I thought he would balk at the ruffled shirt aka "dickie" and shoe covers and God forbid he get the sword...........so I found an adorable Pirate costume from a online costume place.
Anyhoo my 5 year old tried on his Peter Pan costume and my poor 2 year old kept saying "Where's Hook, Moma go pay"...........that was one of the first times he has caught on that he did not have something..........it broke my heart so I hope that dang Pirate costume gets here asap
Are we up to 30 TOT's???

Can't figure out how to reply w/quote. But to answer someone's question--no, we're not sailing on the Halloween cruise this year. We were on the Magic 7nt last year, though. This year we're doing 12/13 for 7nts. Can't wait!

Thanks Ginger for the updated ToT list! Am I reading it right, there are only 5 staterooms greeting all these kids?
dzneprincess, he's so cute! I can't believe how big he's getting. Just seems like yesterday he was born! I was watching my Katie run today, and I can't believe how fast she's grown.
We changed our return plans. We did have reservations at Coronado Springs for 2 nights after the cruise, but we changed to the Polynesian. Figured with the baby, being right on the monorail might be easier. Anyone else staying at Disney after the cruise?

Actually, Poohbush the kids will have about 20 staterooms to hit.
Nathaniel is getting so big and yes he is just a cutie.

Hi everyone!
I have not posted on this page since about, um, the very begining. I have, however, read every post. We will be on the October 25th cruise with you guys, and I have to say, we CAN'T WAIT!!!! This will be our first cruise ever.
We will be at the Raddison the day before. There will be me, DH,Dtwins(turning 10 in Key West), DM,DD, and 3 Dfriends.
My DD has been e-mailing with rwpeterson's DD. This way they will "know" each other once they get on board. Are there any boys out there interested in e-mailing my DS?
Now that Ginger has changed the time of Tor T, we would like to join you guys for it. We will be in 6108, 2 children.
As far as excursions, we have something planned at every port.
Key West: Parasail
Grand Caymen: Stingray and Island Tour/ Atlantis Sub.
Cozumel: Dolphin Encounter
My DD is going to participate in the Talent Show on the ship. She is going to play the Mickey Mouse March.
After the cruise we will be going to Universal. That is a first for us too.
If anyone trades pins, I am sure my DD will be out in full force!!! We have been saving all of our change so our Dtwins have pocket money. DD's will surely go to pins, and DS will have to be pried from the Arcade.
Gotta go get ready to start our day!!!

dzneprincess - Nathaniel is absolutely adorable! What a wonderful picture. How old is he? Is he also coming on the cruise?
laurenk - It's also our first cruise ever and we are also very excited. Sorry, I don't have any boys to email your DS, I have 2 DD ages 9.5 and 6.5. They have also been emailing other kids and can't wait to really meet them. We'll see you at the Radisson!
Ginger - I just wanted to clarify something about the T or T. The kids are going to go to all of our staterooms so we should be prepared to give out treats. Do we run ahead when it is our turn or should someone stay behind in the stateroom to greet them? Thanks.

I have posted only the stateroom number of those who have told me they wish to participate.
If I have posted anyones stateroom number by mistake please let me know before Sept 21. I do understand that some people might be changing rooms once they check in at the port. I will make the changes once we are aboard the ship. I will be PM'ing everyone participating to give you my last name so you can get in touch with me once we are aboard. Guest Services will be able to connect us with last names.
I will be making signs to be posted on your doors so the kids can find the rooms a littler easier. I'll also have the list for them to follow. I'm going to try to make a map of the ship like a treasure hunt map.
Carole88 we will give you time to run ahead.

Hi Ginger-
For some reason on the latest list you had our old cabin number. We are now in cabin 5018 NOT 2102. In fact we are right my martel-luv-wdw in #5020 so it will be convenient for everyone :). Please change so everyone will have it up to date. I don't think the people that are in 2102 want 30 kids knocking at their door
Also are we putting any type of signs on our doors? :p
How many are we up to? I thought is was 30 but I must be missing something bc I just counted 28
A big thanks!

Tiffiny I will make the changes right now, sorry. Yes, the folks in your old cabin sure would be surprised if they where in. LOL
All read this please. Yes I'll be make signs for you to put on your door. If I don't get to see you at the Radisson, Terminal or at the sailaway party then the Goodie Princess will deliver a sign to your stateroom sometime before Thursday.
The count is now on the bottom of the list. Up to 32 now.

Hi everybody! I just received an email from my TA. It said that my docs were sent out by their office today. They were sent US Mail - First Class Priority Flat Rate. I'm supposed to get them in 4 to 5 days. I guess that I'm not going to be chasing the FedEx or UPS man!

dzneprincess: No upgrade. That is okay. This is the same stateroom we had last Halloween cruise & really enjoyed it. I think it is listed as one of the noisy rooms but we did not have a problem.
Besides that, my sister and nieces are across the hallway. This is their first cruise and I would not want to leave them. Of course, they did not get their documents yet. They probably will get the upgrade.
We will be arriving at the Radisson on Thursday sometime. Maybe late. We promised DS a pool day at the Radisson. My sister will be flying in so my niece will only have to miss one week of school.
Have a good night everyone.

Thanks Carol and Dena and congrat's on the doc's Dena. I "think" we will be ok with the Hurricane, after surviving an aneurysm I tend to take things in stride but what else can we do  We have lot's of canned food, flash lights, water and a generator!
I finally did hear back from Tammy now at DU. I guess she is now our TA with DU  She said DCL has not sent our doc's out yet.........Tammy said she was on the 3 day Wonder, no "wonder" she did not get back to me;) Oh well...................keep those prayers coming for everyone on the Eastern seaboard. The winds already picked up today.

I called my TA questioning my docs, and she said they are not sent out until 2-3 weeks before cruise date? HUH ? LOL I am sooooooooooo hoping that I get an upgrade, but know that it is rare! I only wish when I booked it, that I would have gotten a cat 9 so we at least could have had a window. We have never cruised in an outside stateroom. BUT OH well we will just be sooo very happy to be on the ship! THe kids keep asking me how many days until we go! Time is going kind of fast now! I have so much to do, and a little more than a month to do it! ACK!

No Doc's in Ohio yet.
Be safe everyone on the coast - we have close relatives in Wmsbg VA, and are keeping our hopes up that this one stays out at sea. We were in NC when Bertha hit back in '97 - an experience I would not ever want to repeat, or go through. It was a vacation we will NEVER forget though . . .
We'll say our prayers for all of you.

We got our Docs today here in Virginia!!!! What a cute way to package them!! My parents are in a category 11, and no upgrade for them. Oh well, we will gladly share our verandah.
Everyone here in Central Virgina is taking Isabel pretty serious. Our main concern is extended power outages, since in a regular thunderstorm we lose power:rolleyes: The schools have sent home notices about being prepared to pick up the kids early on Thursday. Stay safe everyone!!!

OK, I'll admit it, I've been lurking this post for MONTHS now. Due to business problems, I've been reluctant to post because I feared that my family would not be able to keep our reservation. Nevertheless, we're going. WHIPPEEE!!!
This is my family's 3rd cruise. And, fortunately, for the 3rd year, we will have cabin 5624. So, hopefully we will have no problem remembering our cabin number or figuring out how to get there.
We did the 4 day two years ago and the Eastern last year. Husband (Chris) and son (Robert) who is a proud 6 1/2 will be traveling. Please say it is not too late to add him to the trick or treat list. He is a bit disappointed that he will not TorT at home and help give out candy thereafter, but he's excited about going room to room w/the other children onboard. He says he wants to be a ghost. I've explained, that I can do better than that for a costume. I mean, I can do more than get an old sheet & cut eyes out, but that's what he wants. So much for me being creative this year.
I look forward to meeting you all onboard.
Welcome Strissel, glad you will be with us in October. Ginger is looking after the T or T list and I think the last date for adding names was September 21st so you should be okay. Ginger will let you know for definite, I'm sure. The ghost costume sounds good to me. My DD who is 15 and loves Lord of the Rings is planning to be a hobbit! I have no idea how I am going to achieve this and time is running out. Help.
No documents here yet but our flight tickets arrived today (we have a week at the Boardwalk before cruising) so it's all getting very exciting.

We've changed our minds again...
A few days ago I said we weren't going to do any of the excursions, but we met with our friends and decided to do a few. Here's our plan:
Key West - we're just going to wander around
Grand Cayman - Island Tour & Snorkeling
Cozumel - Cozumel Ruins & Beach Tour
Castaway Caye - nothing definite planned
We'd really like to try both the Natilus Undersea Tour and the Island Tour & Snorkeling at Cayman but it looks like the times conflict.
DH & I have decided not to dive at Cozumel...too many things to do with DDs.
Who else is going on any of these excursions?
Are we still going to have the tired moms tea?
Wendy
Hi Wendy. Yes the Tired Moms tea is still on. So far we have
Me (KEH)
Tiff (BuzznWoody'smom x 3)
Rae x 2.
Wendy (rwpetersen)
If you could PM me with your last name & stateroom number, I will try to make the booking for all of us.
Unfortunately Ginger will no longer be joining us as the High Tea clashes with the final of the Bingo. Let's hope she wins!
Anyone else up for this? Please PM me if you are.
I keep reading conflicting things about the High Tea - some people say it is really quiet and others that it is very hard to get a reservation? Does anyone have any experience?
Do you think we should have a back up plan in case I can't get the reservation? If so, where could we go?

Are you doing the Island tour and Snorkeling with the Stingrays? If so, we are doing the 7:20 one. My DH is doing the Atlantis Submarine while we do that.
I would like to do the tea, but I must decline, and go split the Jackpot with Ginger;)

Lauren, we're doing the 10:45. I have to be at work at 6:30am everyday so I'm not going to get up really early on vacation! I can't wait to hear how your DH likes the submarine, I think that sounds really neat. Maybe the next cruise...

Evening! No docs here yet either.
We're getting ready for Isabel. Schools are closed tomorrow, as is the DC Federal Government, which means my DH gets to stay home. They're (TV stations) calling for winds up to 60 miles per hour. Yikes! Kind of worried about some trees in the back yard falling, hopefully none hit the house. Lots of rain too. Hope we don't lose power for very long.
Welcome Strissel. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise too.

Poohbush-
Our kids get to go this morning, but come home at noon:rolleyes: Tommorrow they are off. Guess they want to hold onto those snow days in Stafford. If my kids weren't missing days for the cruise, I would keep them home. I am going to drive them, let them be counted for attendance, and bring them home. Most kids aren't even going.
I think those who haven't gotten docs yet have more of a chance for upgrades. Just a theory. All of a sudden they aren't showing any availability for some categories.
Stay safe!!

We received our docs yesterday! Alas, no upgrade but we still have our porthole. Will see how much it costs to upgrade to veranda at the port. Also received DD and my passports this past Monday. Now we're really ready to go!
We're all keeping a watch on Isabel. Saw a reporter this morning on TV reporting from the Outer Banks. The storm was already pretty fierce and the hurricane hadn't hit yet. Everyone is in our prayers. Keep safe.

Hi All:wave: No Docs here either, I've been chasing the UPS guy and the FedEx man. I did get my order from Oriental Trading, boy they ship fast.
Well we got the window in, but who knows how long they'll stay in????? The contractor came this morning and wrapped the house to protect us from the wind and rain. No siding on the house yet, infact it was delivered this morning,LOL.
The wind is really picking up here. No school today, maybe not tomorrow still waiting to hear about that.
We finished Ashley's costume today, a quick shopping trip to Wal-mart for Princess slippers and a crown. I started mine and Bill's today.
Welcome Strissel

the ghost costume sounds great to me. Roberts is very welcomed to join the rest of our little Devils Oh!!Oh!!!I mean little darlings. Will I be adding your stateroom as a room to be visited by the kids?
I be upgrading the list and posting it.
Tiff and all I will keep moving the list.
My new list is for those who will be staying at the Radisson before the cruise. I have Rae staying there on Thursday and Friday also Quackattack-Rochelle and her family, Myself with my husband Bill and our DD Ashley. Mdvasquez-Dena and her family on Friday?
We have a very large group this year so far I have counted 27 posters. I believe the count on the T-or-T list is up to 36. This is the highest count every. We are going to have a great time.

Hey I found us on page two. I hope and pray everyone that was in the path of Isabelle is safe!
I went for my amnio yesterday, everything went great, but boy did that needle hurt!!!:p Thank goodness it only lasted for less than a minute. Then we got to see the baby on the ultrasound. It's little arms and legs were moving all over the place. Of couse the stinker wouldn't open up it's legs so we could see what it was. But we will know for certain when the results from the test come back in about 10 days. We did get a great picture of the baby to take home.
Well, that's all the news here for now.

Good for you Dena. I had amnio's with both of my boys and understand about the needed :( make sure you take it easy for the next few days and can't wait to know if we adding a little girl or boy new DCL fan ;)
By the way, I have been trying to buy my TOT treats but can not figure how many we have is it 28 or now 33? Anyone know?
P.S.: we survived the hurricane. House is still up and got power back on in the night . Good luck to the rest of you!

Thanks Carol, I will be praying for everyone else as well :)
Still no doc's, last year when we booked thru DCL directly we rec'd them early. I e-mailed DU and they called DCL and they have not gone out yet, no upgrade either just no doc's
I am happy with my Category 8 and my Mom has a Cat 8 handicap cabin but I would like for my DS to be upgraded to a 9 from her 11...............she says she likes the inside but oh well maybe it is me who doesn't
I think our sailing is pretty full. One of the DU TA's told me it was fall break for NJ so the ship would be full. I told my DS to check at the pier for a upgrade and that is may save her $$$$ but like I said she says she is fine.
Ok, well I am planning for 30 odd trick or treaters.....................

We booked directly with DCL and recieved ours yesterday. I have noticed though when the ship is full or near full the docs tend to go out slower. One time when DCL gave us an upgrade, we recieved them 6 weeks in advance. The ship wasn't full.
We will be at the Radisson also, but won't be there until late, probably around 7 or 8pm.
My kids are going to be Lilo and Stitch. :smooth:

TIFF: I was wondering when we were going to hear from you. I am glad everything is okay with you guys, you were on my mind all day yesterday!:D
We have been debating whether or not we should tell the family what the sex of the baby is as soon as we find out, or wait until we are on the cruise. I want to wait until the cruise, since the whole family will be there and what a better place to share the news than the place where I LOVE to be?!:p However, I do not know if we will be able to hold the news in for that long.
Are we going to try and have a meet at the Radisson? I am not sure what time we will be there, I would like to leave as soon as the kids get out of school, so they can enjoy the pool.

Thanks for your prayers bc they worked ;) we are all ok and the house is standing. My sister in Myrtle Beach was not as lucky, she lost a big pine in her back yard which wrecked her brand new fence, but she is ok and her house so I consider that good.
Dena, it seems that another girl would even it out on the team? I am sure the kids are excited to be having a baby :)
I know when I had my 2nd amnio my DH did not want to know so the Doc wrote it on a piece of paper. Well we already had one boy getting ready to turn 3 and I had a dream when we were first married that I would have 4 boys :)................that dream suits a Marine fine. Sure enough I peaked at the paper and it said "BOY" and I laughed out loud so then my DH said well you have made such a big deal out of it I guess I have to know. Well that was AKA man talk for "I changed my mind and want to know to but am going to blame you" Oh well, so I told and he was excited.
Because of this stupid aneurysm no more for me but I have been slowly easing my DH into adoption, there are so many children out there and we have a lot of love and hugs!
I say tell when the time feels right, they will be so excited. How many weeks are you now 18? When is the due date? When do you get the amnio results?
DVC Lady-Lilo and & Stitch that is cute, my boys will love seeing them! Your kids are about my sons ages. My youngest is 2.3 years and my oldest son is 5 1/2.
Ok enough drill of Dena to everyone thank you for your prayers and we will keep them coming for everyone else in its path.:)

Hi all! We're just fine despite Isabel! Got alot of wind and rain, but luckily, no damage. Had a few branches down, but that's about it! Hooray!:bounce: I was really worried about the trees blowing into the house.
No fair, we haven't received our docs yet! John's parents called, they just got theirs today. So, ours should be along soon! Maybe on Monday. No upgrades for them. Oh well, they wanted to stay near us, so no biggie.
Oh, their docs say 2nd dining. Boo! Really looking like we'll have to wait til we get on the ship and try to change that there.
Dena, I would tell the family only if it feels right to you and your DH. I too had an amnio, and was practically busting at the seams to find out the sex. John didn't want to know, but I had to know right away! :p
Glad we're all safe from Isabel!

09-21-2003, 11:27 PM
Dzneprincess & Poohbush,
We do use the B word at our house. First of all because we have a 3 yr old and if it floats it is a boat.
Second, my DH and BIL are both ex-Navy. My DH says that historically, mariners would refer to their own vessels as boats regardless of the size. My BIL say that even the crew of the Navy subs call their vessels boats.
Maybe that boat vs. ship rule only applies to those of us that are non-Navy.
It has been a busy weekend. This is all I have time for this weekend. Maybe I will do better next weekend. Everyone have a great week.

Ginger- I am SO glad you are all ok with minimal damage. Thanks for the updated list and count. What cabin are Nadstwins in to add to our list?
We call it a boat too, heck we call Castaway Cay Mickey's beach so that breaks all the rules I think...............
Has anyone heard from Rae, I sent her a PM with no response and asked Dena if she was ok. I have missed her humor, I feel as if she is the glue that has held this 10/25 thread together so long :( Hope she is lurking..........
Ok 41 treats.

Tiff, I have heard from Rae by e-mail a few times. She is okay apart from a dislocated finger which is making typing difficult for her; not to mention everything else I dare say. She is looking forward to the Dismeet I know and is also coming to the Tired Moms High Tea on the Thursday.
Apropos of which, is anyone else interested in this? If so, PM me with your last name and stateroom number.

Have in-laws over from England right now - My father in law is in the hospital - Turns out he has apendicitis (sp?) - They took it out last night - What a great holiday he is having!!!
I miss Rae as well - I kind of missed what happened - If someone wants to PM me the details - it would be great- She is so full of great information and humor and you can tell she is really genuine!!

Hey all!
Went to Sears yesterday and bought my DD some great clothes for the cruise. I got a bunch of stuff that was on clearance, marked down to $6.99 and then was 50% more off of that price. I also got my son a bathing suit that was 75% off, came to $3.49. So when my DD came home from school, we started to pack all of her new clothes. YEA We are almost at the 30 day mark now!!
Thanks Andy for Raes email! I have been meaning to ask you for it, but just kept forgetting.
Everything is going well here in FLA. The weather can't decide what to do, some days its hot and humid (which is normal for Sept.) and then some days its mild and breezy, with cool nights. Oh well, I guess you just have to enjoy every day for whatever it is!:p
Have a great day everyone.
Dena
Hi everyone. Still no documents though I got very excited this morning. I was on my way to drop my kids and 2 of their friends at school when we were passed by a UPS van heading towards my house!!! For a second I was tempted to turn round and chase him but decided that it probably wasn't a good enough reason for making 5 kids late for school. It's a good job I didn't set off in hot pursuit really because when I got home there was no evidence that UPS had been anywhere near us. He was obviously delivering somewhere else and just trying to raise my blood pressure!

WOW, it's getting down to the wire now! When Emma started this post 350 some days ago I thought this cruise would NEVER get here. Now it's way close. YEAH!!!!
Ginger, I hate to do this but, I need to change my room number on the TOT list again. We got a little upgrade to a cat 9 because Disney accidently cancelled our reservation. (They were concerned because so many changes were made right before the cut off date) When we went ot rebook the original room was no longer available. We are now in room 2010. I'm ordering my goodies this week.
Glad to hear that people are doing well. Poohbush, hope your MIL gets some time to rest now that the first hard part is over.
Kaitlin'sMom/Karen, Is there a certain time you are looking to go horseback riding? I would love to tag along if I could. I was planning on doing either Nikki's or the Disney excursion with my sister but, she doesn't think she wants to ride.
Okay for now.
Carolyn,
The other Karen (Kaitlin's Mom - gosh this is confusing) is trying to book the riding but is having trouble getting a response from Nikki. Do you happen to have a number for her (Nikki, that is, not Karen)? I'm sure Rae posted the contact details a few pages back but I can't seem to find it now.
Emma did the Cozumel riding last year but is really keen to do it and Grand Cayman this time as this involves riding on a beach.

Hi All-
So our final # is 42 TOT and we are waiting on the Nadtwins1 cabin number right?
Carolyn sorry for the trouble about the cancelled reservation I bet that made your heart miss a beat or two but so happy that you got an Category 9. The large porthole is cool :)
Poohbush, my prayers continue for your MIL :( and we all are keeping her close to our hearts.
I spoke with MIL last night who is going in my DH since he is gone right now (Marine) and she is excited. She has never been on a cruise let alone out of the country. I am so excited for her.
I think I have figured out our cruise clothes and will finish buying treats for the TOT tomorrow.
I keep seeing all of your count down clocks and can not believe this is upon us. This is my 3rd cruise since July so I am expecting to have a major vacation letdown after this one  maybe just bad enough to book another :Pinkbounc
I am in a Category 8 and have been trying to get a Category 6 on deck 6 near my Mom's handicap cabin but no luck yet. I may try at the port but I "think" this sailing is full. If I change I will find someone to pass the word or post a sign on my cabin (5018) of the change. I don't think it is going to happen though :( but oh well we are near the 5-7 club for my son and that is cool.
Can't wait..........oh what is everyone doing in the ports. Here is what I think we are doing in thoughts or input would be awesome. I am trying to make this a laid back cruise. My DH and I did a 7 day CCL cruise in July before he left that hit 4 far western ports and it was like a water olympics so here it is for me, MIL, DS's 2.3 years old and DS 5 1/2. Not sure what my parents and my sister and her partner are doing:
Key West: Trolley and maybe Shipwreck or Aquarium.
Grand Cayman: Probably taxi to 7 mile beach or rent a car, hit the beach and turtle farm????
Cozumel: Taxi to Chakanab and some shopping.
Mickey's Beach AKA Castway Cay: Fun

You might want to check with Kaitlin's Mom about what time they had in mind before booking but I guess it would do no harm to call and see what availablilty they have.

Okay, here's the deal. I called Nikki and put in a temp reservation for five people. She can take 6-7 per trip. I knew of me, my sister, Emma, Kaitlin's daughter, Karen (that belongs to Kaitlin). The only name listed so far is mine so no one is permanently signed up yet. I didn't want to commit everyone to it without actually talking to them.
Details that I got (didn't think to ask about price. Sorry.)
pick up at 9:00 Hard Rock Cafe
ride lasts about 9:30 - 11:00
return at 11:30
bring camera for photo opps
all riding levels
weight limit 230
Also Karen (KEH) we would need a release note from you that says Emma can go (since she is under 18)
I think this is all I know so far. Please let me know who is interested.
Thanks Carolyn. Emma is a definite please. Does Nicki have a standard release note or will something I type, sign and give to you do?
I am almost certain Karen and Marrisa will want to join you. She has had a lot going on I know with visitors one of whom has been in hospital but I wll PM her and see if she is okay with the plan.
How do you get to the Hard Rock? Taxi?
What happens about paying Nicki?
Once again, many thanks.

I hope it's the boards moving slowly today and not my computer.
For my girl Tiff, I got some info. for you yesterday. I got into the Disney Travel Agents site and found that, info from yesterday now, Cat 4 has stateroom 8094 still available. I believe that there may be a few more in that Catagory but I didn't call DCL to find out. For Cat. 5 they were still offering 8 staterooms still available 7614,7616,7618,7526,7524,7522,7520 and 7118. For Cat. 6 they were oftering only 4 stateroom 6146,6148,5144,and 5148. Cat. 9 there were 8 being offered 2554,2552,2592,2598,2045,2600,2116,and 2522. That's as far as I went. There were still staterooms available in Cat. 10 and Cat 11. I couldn't get Cat. 1, 2, 3, or 12.
Just got an e-mail from Dreams who I had asked about our documents. Apparently they went out diretc from DCL yesterday and should be with us by the weekend. At least any passing UPS men will be safe for a couple of days as I won't be tempted to ambush them before Thursday!

But this toddlerc:confused:
Thanks for the info Ginger I wonder if 6146 or 6148 sleep 4? That was sweet to do for us. Have a safe a nice little trip!!!

Waiting for our docs here. Figure I'll give them a couple of weeks more to get here. Afterall, it is a long walk and swim to over this way.
Looking forward to the cruise and seeing everyone!

Father in law is out of the hospital now and recovering in his hotel room! Poor Guy -
I did receive an email from Niki today -
Carolyn, I see you put in a temporary reservation - That works great for me - How do you want to work the money situation out? Do you want me to hold it with my credit card? It would be for me (Karen) and my DD (Marrisa) and I know the other Karens DD (Emma) wants to go - But the times are a go for me!!!!! Let me know what else you need from me!
Karen
Karen, hope your father in law makes a speedy recovery. What a way to spend your holiday - poor man.
Emma is thrilled about the riding - just let me know who I need to pay the money to and she will be there. Just need to make sure I can get her out of bed in time LOL.

Karen (Kaitlin'sMom) - Nikki said that she would need a credit card but not until about a week before the ride. I can send you money before then if you want to use your credit card. I only have a bank card and am not sure that would work. Did she happen to mention rates in the email you received? I'm very excited to go; will be nice to meet you and Marissa also.
Karen (KEH) - I'm sure some type of note from you that says you give Emma permission to ride would be fine. Nikki didn't mention any special form. Also, from the way she talked I think the Hard Rock Cafe is within walking distance of the ship. As for Emma, we can get her out of bed. LOL - I spent lots of time at sleep away camps in my day. There are lots of things you can do to get someone moving.
Are you (both Karen's) and your daughter's planning on meeting the first day? It would be nice to meet you before hand and get to know you. We are going to be at Disney for three days before the cruise so, no Radison.
Ginger - thank you so much for keeping the TOT list updated and close at hand. I ordered different goodies for the different ages, having everything at hand made it so easy. Have a great mini-trip.
Rae - (hoping she reads this) thank you for recommending Nikki. She was so nice to talk to on the phone today. I am really looking forward to riding as I don't hardly ever get to go anymore.

Oh, I forgot one more thing. I remember a while back someone mentioned the champange brunch. Was there an age limit for that? I talked to my mom about it and she would be interested so our party would be four people. My sister is 19 though, not sure if she's allowed to join us. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Can one of you DCL experts tell me if this is possible? When we 1st booked, it was just 2 adults and 3 kids, so we need connecting cabins. We felt at the time, that we could only afford cat 10's. Well now, my parents are going with us, so the cabins no longer need to be connecting. I was looking at the deck plans, and I see they have Cat6's across the hall from cat11's. Is it possible to upgrade one cabin, and downgrade the other? Assuming, of course, that they have a vacancy of each across the hall from each other?

My oh my, you all have been so busy today! I think I had to read through more than 2 pages just to catch up! :)
Karen (KaitlinsMom), glad to hear your FIL is out of the hospital. Best wishes to a speedy recovery!
dzneprincess, have you checked on the availability of the cat 11? The last I heard, cat 11 was now just guarantee only. Our 2 cabins are just like you mentioned, a cat 6 and a cat 11.
Tiff, I think 6146 was the cabin we had originally booked, before we moved a bit more forward to 6130. Not sure if 6146 or 6148 sleeps 4, but I'm sure a quick call to DCL would give you the answer. (Thanks for the kind words about my MIL!) We're also doing the Trolley & Museums in Key West. Guess we'll see alot of each other that day!

Hello all,
We just got our documents yesterday here in Ohio! They came via UPS. Needless to say, I was not chasing the UPS man.
Which brings me to another point. I kept wondering why, unlike other cruises I have been on, and other groups I have met here on the DIS, this one seemed a little bit "different". It only took me 90+ pages on this thread, and a previous post about how the husband is not allowed near the computer:)
I finally figured out that I am one of the few "males" on this thread. My DW may lurk from time to time, but I am the one who checks in for us.
I kept wondering why all this talk of "high teas" , and tired moms was not quite hitting the mark with me. But, with my wife having three sisters, and myself with only one brother, to some degree I have gotten used to it.
So, if all you "tired moms" out there want to ask those males that you do not allow near the computer - maybe we could have a "frazzled fathers" get-together. Instead of "high tea", might I suggest adult beverages and a friendly game of cards or whatever sports may be on the big screen at the ESPN skybox? (if they are allowed to come out and play).
Just a thought . . .
John;)

John-
My DH is a Marine and currently "unavailable to cruise and have fun" but last year he would meet up with the same group of guys every night after I took our then 16 month and 4 year old sons back to the cabin. He and his new friend has "beer bonding" and all complained to each other about this and that and being drug here and there.............when we would see one of his new buddies around the ship they would high five and share "men jokes"........to bad he can't go with us this year but I am sure there will be others so bond with :)

Well thank you John. I sure will ask my husband if he would like to get together with you. But, I still will not let him near the computer lol. Kidding, I let him read his email.
Carolyn 1023 from an old Navigator- Palo is reserved for guests who are 18 years and older. I believe Rae was handling the Brunch. You may want to send her an email Rae519@yahoo.com
Amanda you can upgrade and downgrade but do it now. Do try to do it at the port.
Tiff I would say that those cabins do sleep 4 but don't take my word for it call DCL. In our docs there is a number to call them if you have questions 1-800-395-9374. Hope this helps. Girlfriend, next year let me book your cruise lol.
If anyone wants to find me on embarkation day I'll be wearing a button with a Lime Green Mickey's head paint chip from Home Depot. I'll print my name on it too.
I got time today to print the door signs. I've been shopping and putting stuff in a box which is almost full. I told DH it's time to get out the suitcases. Only one problem we have no place to put them.
Our contractor said maybe, just maybe they would be finished by Thanksgiving Ha!Ha!. I went right to the phone and made dinner reservations for that day.
You'll have a good day tomorrow. Good Night:wave:
BTW- thanks all for the good luck wishes.

My wife doesn't let me near the computer. I just dictate to her and she types it and posts it up here for everyone to see. Hey! I guess that makes me a dictator! Boy do I rule!!
Actually, my wife is miles and miles and miles away from me. Make that thousands and thousands of miles away. (Ok, she's only about 4,500 miles away from me but thousands and thousands sounds so much better) I couldn't dictate to her if I wanted too. Or could I?? The possibilities!
When we're cruising I'm not allowed to leave her for more than a few minutes at a time though. I guess has something to do with only being able to see her a couple of weeks or so a year the past few years. Sheesh! I tell ya.
Life certainly does have its challenges!

Well, we finally got our power and phones back!!!! That no power thing was getting kind of old. There are MANY people still without. This hurricane was pretty devastating for alot of people. We feel fortunate to only have had to live without power.
My TorT goodies arrived from Oriental Trading yesterday. I will eventually have to go thru my ever growing cruise pile, and see what I still have left to get. I don't know how I am going to pack it all.
I can't believe we are getting so close to departure time. I know this will be a very special vacation.
I hope all of you waiting for documents get them soon. I look at ours daily.;)
Laurenk, welcome back. Glad you and yours are all okay.
Re the Dismeet - when Rae was still posting the plan was to meet in the Promenade Lounge after the lifeboat drill and before the sailaway party. As far as I know, this is still the case. We are certainly planning to go along and it would be great for others to be there or else we will be "Billy No Mates" on our own. Is this time and place still okay for everyone?
Palo Brunch - Rae was planning this for 10am on the Monday. My DH and I have said we will join her and I'm sure others would be welcome but as Ginger suggested, best to e-mail Rae to check if she is happy to make a group booking.
Paul - now you've made me feel guilty! I think the Frazzled Fathers' meet is a great idea - redress the balance for us girls getting together. We didn't mean to be exclusionary, honest. It was just an idea that came about while we were chatting on this thread. By the way, my DH and I have his and hers computers but he tends to lurk, while I post. Just like in the real world, where he is quiet and I never stop talking!
Carolyn, shall I add you to my attempt to book the High Tea? Thursday at 3.30pm How many - is it 3?. PM me with your last name and room number if you are interested.
Any more takers?
Karen
paulmc80
09-24-2003, 12:46 PM
Oh shucks! Didn't mean to make anyone feel guilty. It just struck me as funny about not allowing husbands near computers, especially since my wife can't stop me from being near the computer since she's not here. Not to mention I'm bigger. :D
I like the idea of His and Hers computers. That can be nifty!
Actually, I can't imagine doing anything without my wife while on the cruise since I hardly get to see her at all.

Ginger, I had my TA call DCL and question the upgrade and downgrade, but they gave her crazy prices. Basically it sounded like they would cancel my ressies, and rebook using todays prices and I would lose out on my EBS. Is that correct?
I have fixed all my treat bags! LOL except when I bought thinks, we were at 32 kids, so I bought 40 bags. Murphy's law that we would have 41 kids! LOL Oh well, I just wont give my own kids a treat bag, surely they will have more than enough! LOL

09-24-2003, 07:53 PM
are you doing bags for different age groups, or is everyone getting the same? -
"Ginger"
09-24-2003, 10:26 PM
Amanda I do believe that's the way they do it, using the current rate. Everything changes just like starting over again.
I was thinking of doing different bags for the older kids. I don't think they are interested in the bubbles rings, little toys and stuff like that. They just want the candy, right?
I am not trying to hurt any feelings here, but maybe next year we should put an age limit on our the T-or-T'ers. Something like 12 and under.
No problem Tiff.
If anyone else is going to Bingo on Thursday but would like to do a High Tea there is one offered on Monday. I would love to have some company.

I'm making up different baggies for different ages. I don't have my notes here but think I did 2-4, 5-7 and then 8 and up. The gift bags for the younger children (like up to 13ish) have goodies as well as candy and for the teens I'm doing just candy.
Karen (KEH), I'll get back to you about the tea tomorrow. I'm definately interested because although I'm not a mom (unless you count the furry four legged variety) I'm definately frazzled. I'll have to ask my mom if she's interested though.

All the way out in the middle of Nowhere (had to put in a plug for Courage the cowardly dog), and we received our cruise documents. Now that is pretty darn fast all considering.
Glad the docs are here. I'm ready to go now! :D
Carolyn, as someone who is "Mom" to 5 four-legged family members I think that they can soemtimes be more trouble than the 2-legged variety. Still, I wouldn't be without any of them (cats or kids!). Just let me know about the tea. Do i owe you or Karen for the horse riding?
Ginger, I agree that the T or T list has assumed a life of its own! How about next year we T or T with 12 and under as you suggest and the older ones and adults have a Halloween Dismeet somewhere, costumes optional ( and before anyone leaps in that costumes NOT clothes!!!!). Halloween falls on the Sunday next year so it's early enough in the cruise for a meet, I think.
Just a thought, if my DH decides he wants to do High Tea on the Monday (unlikely if we've had the brunch in the morning - I can hear the weight piling on now), would we be able to book that as well as the Thursday one because we have 2 staterooms. In other words, is it a booking per stateroom or per family. I'm not trying to cheat the system here or anything, just curious so please don't anyone flame me. Not that I think anyone on our thread is into flaming but my paranoia is beginning to show.
Are you all up for the Dismeet on the Saturday in the promenade lounge?

Carolyn- Do you get a total of 8 for the 4 and under age group? What I ordered from OT is appropriate for 5 and up.
Karen- I would love to participate in the meet on boarding day, but will have to pass. I think the 9 of us will be too excited trying to take it all in. This cruise is a first for all of us. Hopefully I will meet many of you at the Raddison the day before.
Lauren
No problem Lauren. We won't be at the Radisson - we are staying at the Boardwalk for a week before we cruise. Maybe we will see you at the sailaway party. We may be wearing some Haloween t-shirts if we ever get round to sorting them out, so you may be able to spot us.

I signed up thinking that giving my stateroom number that people would come to my stateroom for treats?? My hubby will be in the stateroom to give them out. I will be taking my kids around to other staterooms for treats. We are greeting and treating.

Yes, we are greeting and treating as well - Stateroom 7106 - Need to figure out a final number so that I am sure I have enough treats!!!

The way I understood it was that those with children would be going TOT but, would run ahead when it came close to their stateroom to hand out goodies. I could be wrong though, I often am.

Perhaps mine is the only family that has yet to receive our documents. Went through a TA this year who now says that the cabin we've had for the past 2 years will not be available (not yet completely rehabbed?). Anyhow, we'll be in #6646 instead of 5624, she says our documents were prepared today and will be receiving them soon. By the way, I'll be leaving the hubby in the cabin for treat distribution while I take son, Robert, out for tricks.

Okay, I had a cute idea while i was at work tonight. Would it be okay with everyone if I made up nametags? I was going to make wooden Mickey heads with pin backs and paint them lime green. Not sure if I'll write names on them or just have the pins and markers available at the meet and greet. Let me know what you think.
paulmc80
09-25-2003, 10:22 PM
You're very nice to offer making name tags Carolyn! It certainly would be fine by us. Plus, I get the extra added bonus of knowing where to look when I forget my name.
Sounds like a very nice idea!
Poohbush
09-25-2003, 10:30 PM
Carolyn123, I think that's a fun idea. I was going to wear a Mickey Paint Chip from Home Depot (alien green!) :bounce:
Tiff, I was confused a while back and asked Ginger the same question. At first, I was also thinking there were only about 6 cabins giving out treats. Then I was told that all cabins would be participating. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can go treating, then when you get close to your own cabin you can run ahead a greet everyone (unless of course you've already assigned a greeter to stay in the cabin.) Hopefully we can get a firm answer on this.
paulmc80, if you've answered this already, sorry I missed it. Why is your DW so far away? Is she in the military?

Hi all:
Didn't realize Ginger was out of town. I pm'd her about my situation but since I don't know when she will be back to update the T&T list, I thought I better post to the board.
Regretfully, my family has to bow out of the T&T'ing for medical reasons. (I won't bore you with the details).
:(
That brings the count down to 39 and takes cabin 6022 off the list. Sorry to have to do this but it's unavoidable. Hope you will all understand.
We are getting so excited for our very first Disney cruise adventure. It has been so fun getting to know so many of you through this board. It feels like I have friends onboard already even though we have yet to set sail!

The mini popcorn bags ok for trick or treating?
Hi guys. As Emma posted yesterday, our documents are here but not those for DH and DS's. Hopefully they will arrive today.
We did the Dis T or T last year and the way it worked was that all kids went round with one parent if they were small (older ones like mine just attached to the group as there were plenty of adults to supervise). The adults either left one person in the room to greet or ran ahead as they neared their room. Ginger had worked out a sensible order for going round so you knew when you needed to scoot ahead.
Carolyn, great idea. Thank you.
Off to lie in wait for the UPS man!

Well if the docs are likely to be coming today then it really will just be my mum and I going because I'm not answering the door in my pyjamas! I could always get dressed I suppose.
Reading this thread sometimes makes me feel like I might just spontaniously combust with excitement. 3 weeks today I'll be on my way to the airport!

I was just getting dressed when there was a knock at the door so I ran downstairs in my pyjama bottoms and white school shirt thinking it would be our docs but no! It turns out it's some boring looking parcel for my dad.
laurenk
09-26-2003, 06:20 AM
Emma and Karen- I hope the rest of your DOCS come soon!
We are heading to NYC for the weekend. We are taking the twins and some friends sightseeing. When we get back I HAVE to start getting my things together for the cruise!! I also HAVE to stop eating so I can fit into my clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only age group for ToT I was going to give something different to was 4 and under. This was mainly due to the whole "choking" thing. I was always paranoid about that with my twins when they were younger.
Is the ToT Disney offers on the ship a nightmare?

Zitofamily - I'm sorry to hear that you won't be participating in the TorT. If it is a food problem I'm sure that we could all work around it. My nephew has severe peanut allergies and I know that Halloween can be a nightmare for my sister-in-law. We always make sure we have a peanut free treat for him. Rachel is really looking forward to meeting Caitlyn. We'll see you at the Radisson.
Carolyn1023 - Your name tag idea is really very nice!
To all participating in the TorT - I am planning to give out some sort of chocolate bar that I add my own wrapper to. If anyone has any allergies to this, please let me know so that I can have another type of treat on hand.

Once again for "remedial Tiffiny" with my Marine DH gone, building a mew house, a million Doctor's appt.'s left from my aneurysm, Greatgrandma in the hospital with terminal cancer and potty training a toddler and a first time Kindergartener.........I am about to forget my own name snydrome :(
Not trying to feel sorry for myself I just can't seem to keep up with details:
All the treats sound great. I am sure we can do what we all do every year and steal the treats we want from our young children and pass the appropriate ones on to them (lol) ;)
Zito'sfamily: We are a laid back, been thru a lot of stuff group so if there is anything we can do to help you all do the TOT with us, allergies, taking kids around whatever we will all help in anyway we can!
Poohbush, how is your MIL?
Carolyn great idea, but where is the DIS Meet?
We are not getting to the Radisson until late Friday.
Ok, off to the day and look forward to the cruise and no problems, it seems these DIS Boards have enough problems for us all

Not out of town till the 10th and 11th of Oct.
It is my understanding that everyone who gave me there stateroom numbers would be giving out treats. If this is not true please let me know.
I will be making every effort to keep up with your stateroom number on land or at sea. Here is how I plan on doing that by giving everyone my name. It is CECELIA SPARR please everyone make a note of that. Once on the ship anyone needing to get in touch with me can do so by going to Guest Services and asking what stateroom I am in. They will either tell you or they will contact me.
Sandra I have made a note of your change and will be posting when I bring the new T-or-T post to the current page.
The Promenade Lounge is on Deck 3 just in front of the aft elevator.

Guest Services won't give out cabin numbers, but you can have others have a message delivered to your room by giving Guest Services your name, I did that on our cruise in August.

No one has to hang around in your stateroom to wait for the T-or-T'ers to come. Well I will have to make the exception of those kind folks who I have posted as Greeting and Treating only staterooms. These folks don't have children T-or-T'ing, but have been so kind to offer our children goodies. If you have kids in the T-or-T we will give you time to run ahead of the group to be at your door to hand out goodies.
BTW, Treating and Greeting stateroom people I will have my 2 way radio on. If you happen to have a set of these we could arrange to be on the same channel so you don't have to wait around for us. I could give you a shout once were nearing or on your deck giving you plenty of time to get to your room.
I have made signs for your stateroom doors. We will be arriving at the terminal early to get a good place in line. I will have them available for you there. Don't worry if you don't see I'll also have them before the T-or-T starts. There will be plenty of time for you to place it on your door. You can leave your child(ren) with the group know one will get lost or stolen. Speaking of that...
On Saturday please make sure you register your children in one the Kids Clubs. Why? because they collect all the info needed to reunite your child to you if you should get lost. They will give them an I.D. bracelet to wear while on the cruise, they will give you a beeper. Please make sure you both wear them at all times. It's very easy to get lost on the ship and on land.
Info.......the life boat drill ends and the sailaway party begans immediately afterward. The ship is also preparing to pull away from the dock. I'll be missing the met at the Promenade Lounge, sorry. We have a family tradition after ditching the life jackets we go to dock 10 forward to watch for dolphins jumping in front of the ship as she sails out of port. Everyone is welcomed to join us.
John my DH, Bill is not much on cards but he's great at drinking beer. Maybe you guys can hook-up for a brew.
KEH, I don't know if you can make 2 ressies for High Tea, but it's worth a try since you have 2 stateroom numbers. You make one and have your DH make the other using different numbers.
My child does have a peanut allergy, but I don't, I love peanuts.
Enough from me today.

Thanks Andy, I knew they could find me some how.
Ginger, it doesn't sound as if we would have much time between the lifeboat drill and the sailaway to get together. I think the promenade lounge was the original idea for the meet. What does anyone think - should we meet in the lounge to get Carolyn's name tags and then head on up to deck 10 to join Ginger or should we just aim to meet on deck 10?

paulmc80, what branch of military is your wife in? My father is retired Air Force, and my FIL is retired Navy. Both me and my DH are used to the military life. Sometimes it feels strange to live in one place for more than a few years. Just seems like we should be on the move anytime now!

Hey Poohbush-Yes he is 5 in Kindergarten and all grown up, sometimes when I go pick him up I do a doubletake bc I can not believe how tall and little boy like he is. He is wearing a suit and a little blue blazer with oxford etc. and it just shocks me that he looks like a tiny version of my DH. Luckily I have my 2 year old DS that I can still dress like a baby, that is a big baby. He is 2 years & 3 months and I had to potty train him bc he was in the biggest size pampers there is 6! He is 35 pounds and over 36 1/2 inches
Prayers for your MIL and I hope our cruise is just the relaxation and distraction she needs.
I have skin cancer and was diagnosed 5 years ago when my oldest was 5 weeks old. Cancer of any type is a ugly experience but really it can make you appreciate life and each day more. My DH's Grandmother has terminal lung cancer and is 80, she is in the hospital right now and not suppose to make it thru the night. Everyone say a prayer that she is in peace please.
Paulmc80, my DH is a Marine Officer with 18 years in and probably a minimum of 2 left maybe 5...........thanks to your wife for serving this wonderful country ;)

Call me Ginger.
Nadtwins we have Cobra 2 ways. So far no problems using them aboard, in or out of the stateroom. You do have to locate a channel that works for you and your partner, meaning one that not already being used by another family on board. Bill and I have different taste with it comes to doing thing on board this way we can keep up with each other with roaming the whole ship looking for one and another.
You don't even have to twist my DH's arm to drink a beer he brings 2 cases of his favorite brew with him. I can't complain cause I bring a blender and my own fixins. Actually, we are not big drinkers but on vacation I do enjoy a few frozen drinks a day. We save big on bringing our own. Don't get me wrong I'm not cheating DCL they get it from me in the way of Bingo and other things.
I vote for deck 10 too. We could all look for the Dolphins.
Hey!!! You all have a great day. I'm off to work.

Hey everyone its been a few days since Ive posted and as usual, you all have been chatting up a storm!:p
Tiff: prayers for your MIL and for you and your DH to get through this tough time.
We got our amnio results back and every thing came back normal!!YEA I did not want to hear what the sex of the baby was over the phone while I was home by myself, so we still don't know what we have.
Nadtwins: We have 2 way radios as well, and bring them everytime. Ours were not a real expensive brand, but still work quite well on board. They don't work from deck 10 down to 2, but my daughter takes one with her and whenever and wherever she is going from one place to the next, she manages to get in touch with me to let me know. We also use them for the first day when we are making ressies everywhere!
I also vote to move our meeting place to deck 10 at sailaway, that sounds like fun.:Pinkbounc
My DH was in the Navy for 4 years before I met him. He is a little shy about meeting new people, but LOVES to talk to military people!
GINGER: Adriannes stateroom for TorT is 5012.
Well, the humidity has finally hit us here in FLA. Sept started out very mild this year and I thought we would get away with no humidity, but boy was I wrong!!

Poohbush - My wife is Army (well full-time Army Reserve actually). She has about 17 years in full-time now and just that bit more to round it out. Reason why I'm here and she's over there. I work for a children's services program with the courts here.
buzz&woody'smom - Hey, what a coincidence. I shop at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Barracks right here near my house. Got to say, its one of the most beautiful places on this island.
We're anxiously looking forward to the cruise! Should be lots and lots of fun!

Weill I don't know about Karen, but I definitely plan to be aboard the 11-01 sailing as I willbe scouting out the perfect stowaway spot the whol 7 days I am on board ;)
I can't believe we are getting so close! We are so excited here! I keep thinking I am done shopping, and then I think of something else I need. Does anyone else's spouse think they are a bit looney for all this planning?? :p Last night,my smart alec DH came home from work, saw me on the DIS and said, " Well whats new in the World??!!" Me " Well I am reading the cruise boards" him in a mock shocked voice " You mean you have a different board from the park to the cruise??!?!? Dont you run out of things to say?!?!"
Thats ok tho, he will get his;) ;)
Want to hear something funny? I was really "gotten" good today by my CRAZY coworker!
I have not had anyone ask to see my lisence for some time now. I used my Disney Visa today and the lady asked for picture ID. I showed it to hear and she says, OOPS you got a little something on your picture hun, did you husband do that? I looked at picture and my coworker drew a MOUSTACHE on my picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It wont come off!!! I was so embarrased, he says it has been that way for a month, and I know I have used it within the month! Who knows what other cashiers had to think! LOL Thats ok tho too! He also has his coming too!

Boy, I'm going for a waxing before I see you all, just lol
cause when I ROTFLMBBO the house shakes. I am failing on my diet.:(
I told my DH that I was going to by MowMows at Cozumel to wear for the rest of the cruise and home.
O.K. I think I have the T-or-T list updated. Could everyone take a look to see if I have all your information correct.
Lets start our own, What do you pack? I mean besides clothes and the usually stuff list? I'll start
Air freshener, for the bathroom.
Tape- to hang those ressie reminders on the door so we don't forget them.
Hanging shoe holder- to hold all our stuff that we need to find fast. Like those KTTW cards that are forever getting lost, sunscreen, cameras and health and beauty aids.
A night lite for the potty room.
A soft sided cooler for DH's beer and waters.
A blender for frozen drinks also bring the fixings.
Door decorations.

Clothes pins and an extension cord! Clothes pins to hand stuff up on the clothes line in the shower and to keep the sun from peeking thru the curtains too soon!!!
Extension cord for anything - There just aren't enough outlets in the room!!
Oh yes, and party favors for the wild orgies that the crew will be inviting us all too - (hopefully, you all get that one)

Okay, I'm trying to collect the extras that I can't possibly survive a week without. So far I found a small dry erase board to leave messages on, highlighter to mark up the navigators, and I printed off "business cards" with my address that I can share.
Yesterday was a good day for decorations too. I went to the pharmacy and they already had Halloween 60% off (who knows why). So I got four of the collapsible candy buckets (all donations happily accepted. LOL). and a ghost windsock to hang on the stateroom door.
I can't believe how quickly this is coming up. We bought our plane tickets yesterday and will be arriving in Florida on Wednesday, Oct. 22. That'll give us a few days in Disney before the cruise. That way I can start working on my tan so I don't scare everyone away.
Alright - wish I could stay and chat all day but, gotta get ready for work. No weekends here.

Karen, that why I bring the blender every cruise with all kinds of booze. Haven't been invited yet:mad: do you think it's because I walk around with a camcorder?
Thanks for the clothes pin idea, I put some in our collection bag.
Carolyn, I never thought about a dry erase board. We've used postems in the past. We got the 2 ways to replace them. Now DH can track me down anywhere.
Amanda, I purchased bubbles rings, don't know how well they work. I was going to put them in some of the T-or-T bags maybe a better idea to hand them out at the sailaway party.
Ashley and I went to BJ'S today to buy fish for my diet dinners. They didn't have the kind I liked so we bought candy instead, 10 lbs of the sweet treats. Just what I need to lose.
Poohbush
09-28-2003, 10:14 PM
Ginger, I'd much rather buy sweets than fish any day! (I'm not a seafood person at all!)
Carolyn123, don't worry about scaring people away due to lack of a tan. That's my department. My father always teases me that my legs are whiter than the concrete!
Let's see, what to pack. I do think I'll bring a nightlight, though I've never brought one before. And I've bought some door decorations. Still have to buy the treats for ToT. We're having my in-laws bring the Super-Mega pack of diapers. I do not want to have to pack that! And we can't forget our stuffed friend, Travels. He's a small stuffed bear, and if he could earn them, would have more frequent flier miles, than me and DH combined!
Karen, what kind of party favors did you have in mind. Never mind, I don't think I even want to know! :o
Goodnight everyone!

the Disney Magic was a big floating germ factory.
Crusing when we are we all should not forget to pack the Cold and Flu Meds also Imodium AD. Lots of antibacterial hand wipes and instant hand sanitizer.
Don't forget to wash your hand often aboard the ship. Nothing worse then being sick on vacation.
Carolyn1023 I keep forgetting to tell you that I think your name tags is a great idea.
Thank goodness, it sounds like I won't be the only one with chicken drumstick legs when they emerge in a pair of shorts!
I was wondering about the party favours too and where she was planning to put them, but I also decided that it might prove to be too much information.

Chicken drumsticks hmmmmmmm . . .
Just better make sure that those drumsticks don't look like they landed in the fryer after the first few days of cruising.
No problem like that here, we are just now leaving shorts weather in Ohio.
My problem tends to be with that "overstuffed turkey" look above the drumsticks, but it does make a nice shelf to rest a cold drink or the suntan lotion on.
I'll have to pass all these great ideas on to my wife - although I am wondering how many bags I will have to pack to get it all on board.
There don't happen to be any more Brown's fans out there are there? (ladies, ask your husbands). I wonder if there is anyone else I can drown my sorrows with after this weekend, or who shares my misery.

Jhalkias - not a Browns fan here (also not a guy but, very into football so I hope it's okay if I answer you). Just forget this week happened and keep dwelling on the fact that they beat San Francisco. Next week can be a ray of hope too because Pittsburgh hasn't been playing to their potential.
Does anyone know what the new ESPN area will be like or where? I'll need to get updates on Sunday while on the ship (at the very least). Not sure if Jhalkias will let me hang with him or the guys since "my" team (Patriots) is playing the Browns (I cheer for New England and Dallas).

OK Carlolyn,
Sorry I sounded sexist. My wife is a big football fan too, just not as big as me. Of course, how can you be anything but growing up in Canton, OH? I'm wondering about that ESPN area too - is the skybox gone??? We have Brown's season tickets, and let me tell you, since we have come back to the NFL, it has been nothing but UGLY for the most part. The only real exciting game was last year's game against the Falcons where we had a chance and did make it to the playoffs with a win.
I just took a halftime break from MNF.
Patriots and Cowboys huh . . .
Don't like the Patriots because of Bill Belichek. Liked the Cowboys when they took Bernie Kosar to the Superbowl after the aforementioned Belechek cut him from the Browns. Dallas is OK - one of our local HS boys Jamar Martin is on the team - was injured last year as a rookie.
I assume he still made Parcel's roster.
One of the reasons we booked this cruise was the away game for the Brown's on the 26th, and bye week the next week.

Someone mention drowning the sorrows of an NFL fan? Oh boy! Let me tell you I've been there! WAy, way, way down there! I'm a 27 year Buccaneers fan and hasn't been a team much more sorrowful then they were at times. But I survived! Waiting for the roller coaster to start back down. LOL
So, all you fans going through tough times with your teams hang in there!
I think on the cruise I'll probably be just checking in for the games scores on that Sunday. Oh yeah ... surrreeeeee .. LOL

I was reading this thread...but it's so lonnnnnnnnnnnng...
I guess it's a good thing.
We are sailing with our children and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law with their two children. I was reading through the post and thought the halloween TOT to be a wonderful idea.
Are we all to late to be added to the list? I know it's kind of last minute, but we also would be handing out.
Let us know and I'll give you our stateroom numbers.
Thank you and see you all on the cruise!!!

What should I do,
Got docs. flight info, not great.
We have one hour to change in Atlanta. We get on a plane with 58 rows. We are row 52. Arrives at 12:56. Last DCL bus leaves at 1:45 for the port. WILL WE MAKE IT/luggage?????????
We have traveling DH, DW, DS(7) DGM (handicap with a walker)
We booked everything though DCL. Thought that would be best.
Help/tell me every will be O.K.
Can't wait Linda
"Ginger"
09-30-2003, 10:43 PM
Linda you'll make it with time to spare. BUT, just incase something happens to you all in route there is a 1-800 number in your docs. You call that number ASAP. DCL will be waiting for you to get off the plane. They will take you through the airport get your luggage or will be holding your luggage if it arrives before you. Make sure you put the DCL luggage tags on all your bags. Then they'll put you on a bus to the port. Just remember Linda the ship doesn't sail till 5:00pm.
BTW get DGM a wheel chair at the airports. Call DCL and see if they can arrange that for you.
We missed our plane once so I know all this info. first hand.
On one of our cruises they actually held the ship up for some late comers, not us.
Don't worry you'll be fine.

We don't have our treats yet either.
My 2 cents is to let the other two children onto the list. I know there have to be cutoffs, and Ginger has done a lot of work keeping it up, but I just hate to say no to any little ones that show up!

Ginger- In regard to your question, I say"The more the merrier", but I do understand if people are all set with their treats.
I started to "pack" today....VERY overwhelming for this first time cruiser. My room looks like a bomb hit it. It will take until our sail date to get this under control;)
carole- LOVED Mars 2112!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had the BEST time in NYC. WTC was very unsettling. Saw my friends name up on the hero's list:( Did you get my pm before we left?
Question for all of you past Halloween cruisers. Do you pack tank tops, or is it too cool? What about Orlando afterwards? We will be at RPR for 4 days after the cruise. Last year we had ALL kinds of temps. @ the same time at WDW.
Also, for my friend Donna... Who does everyone use for shuttle services? She needs to get from airport to Radisson, then from ship to WDW, then form WDW to airport, with her DH going from ship to airport.
Thanks!

We have goodies to be handed out, and then some, and can always add on more real easy!
We have always used Tiffany Towncar ourselves when not using just a Mears shuttle or DCL bus for transportation. So far never had a problem.
We're happy for 2 more to be added to the list for T ot T. I've ordered treats but won't be making the bags up till we're on board as they will be easier to transport like that.
Laurenk - we were at WDW just before our cruise last year and found that it got a little cool some evenings when we needed long sleeves. I don't remember needing them on the cruise, except in some of the restaurants where the air conditioning was a bit fierce sometimes.

Perhaps my family was the last, but we received our documents yesterday from the friendly, UPS man. I'm a bit concerned with our flight arrangements too. It appears we'll be comming in on a Delta flight a 8:45 to Orlando. Doesn't the ship not let you board till 1:00? Will the bus take us to port 4 hours early? Who knows?
Also, since this is our first Halloween cruise, I noticed a paper regarding some extra activities in the documents for custumes. Do the adults really participate in these? Are these pretty much around the clock custumed events?
Sandra
Linda,
Don't worry; we will form a line of Dis cruisers holding onto the ropes so they can't sail without you. Seriously, I'm sure if you booked through DCL, they will be aware of your situation and take care to get you aboard.
Our treats have just arrived and now I'm starting to panic. Some of them are fruity, jelly sweets. They are in sealed packs but they are only plastic bags sealed with a sticky tag. They do smell quite "fruity" but in the way that sweets do rather than real fruit. Will we be able to take them into the States or am I going to be pinned to the wall by a sniffer dog and have them confiscated? If so, DH can carry them.
What do you think?
Karen
carole88
10-01-2003, 08:27 AM
I havn't made up treats yet either so I don't mind adding 2 more.
Laurenk - Glad you had a great time at Mars2112! I did get your post. To be honest I have yet to see the World Trade Center site. I work in midtown and have not yet been able to get myself prepared to see the destruction. I don't know if I ever will.
On a lighter note, did everyone get paperwork regarding costumes on the ship? Nothing like that came with my documents.:(

Doucia: Welcome aboard!
I have no problem adding two more to the TorT list, as I was aready preparing for 41 anyway.
LAUREN: yes we packed tank tops last year. It was EXTREMELY HOT in key west, as well as cozumel and cayman. However, on board the ship in can be COLD in the resturants and especially the movie theater. As far as WDW after, you never know what the temps will be in FLA for Oct and Nov. Two years ago we camped at FW for Halloween week and the temps got down into the high 30's - low 40's at night. We were freezing:rolleyes: So my suggestion to you would be to pack a whole assortment of clothing. Thats what I do!:p :p :p :p
KAREN: Try putting the candies into ziplock bags, you may have to double the bags. Also, I responded to a post you had on another thread concerning the teen excursion. Let me know if your daughter is planning on doing that excursion.
Have a great day everyone.
Dena:p
Thanks Dena, good idea. I will ask Emma about the Teen excursion and let you know. She didn't really enjoy Common Grounds last year but maybe if there were a few people she had met earlier in the week going, she might be up for it. I may wait to book on board to see how things are going especially as last year it was cancelled due to low numbers - mind you we did get our money back.

Linda - Like everyone else mentioned, I'm sure you'll be fine with the times. As for your luggage - it's my understanding that you don't have to worry about it (we didn't on our first cruise). Disney will collect it for you and have it delivered to your stateroom.
Doucia - Welcome aboard. We're glad to recruit some more cruisers. How old are your children?
Ginger - I'm okay with the extra children for TOT as well. I had extra goodies for each age group that I split the kids into.
Strissel - No extra Halloween info here. I DO HOPE SOME OF YOU ARE PLANNING ON DRESSING UP! I already bought my costume and am just waiting for it to arrive.
Karen - I don't think the candies will be a big problem. The double ziploc sounds like a good idea. I'm sending all my goodies down with my aunt - she is driving (not cruising with us) so she has extra room. If you want to send the candies to me I can pack them with my stuff in her van.
laurenk - I agree with the overwhelming packing. I have yet to start because I am between houses and have to spend a day at the storage unit finding things.

Hey Dena and Karen - Don't forget, Common Grounds is not Common Grounds anymore! I am keeping my figures crossed that they will enjoy their time in the new teen club. Knowing Disney, I am sure they are doing a great job and making a really cool place!
Karen - I agree about double zip-locking your candies -
Our airports don't have the dog sniffers like the ones I encountered in Heathrow - I must say, my first trip to England, I was really thrown aback when I first saw them!
So when is the cut-off going to be? - Not too close to departing date please - I still have yet to make the bags, but will be doing as soon as my current order arrives -
? - Do you think it will be a problem if I pack the same stuff for each age group - I bought candie that I am sure all the kids could eat plus some fun things that I know they could all do - It just sounds like some of you are Martha Stewarts out there - that's hard on us common folk!!!
I booked my parasailing at CC - My older daughter and I are going to do it - Very excited!!!

No info in my docs about costumes either. I booked mine thru DVC, so who knows! I sort of feel like a stepchild because of booking thru DVC. Couldn't pre-pay the tips, and really got the run around when booking the excursions. Oh well, the important part is the trip with my family!
Not really a problem with adding on extra children, but if you'll notice Doucia's post, it looks like more than just 2 children will be added. Any word yet on how many more? (Looks like maybe 4 more.)
Just 3 more weeks from Friday, and we'll be departing for Florida. Can't wait!
