Maybe it's too early, but does anyone know if anything special is planned at the parks for July 4th?

Thanks

Just bumping this because I was going to ask the same question.

All I know from other posts, is that there is usually a fireworks show in MGM (Sorcery in the Sky), Illuminations and the fireworks at MK are 360 degrees... That is all I know. I am planning on watching the MK fireworks from the Polynesian since I don't want to fight the crowds.

If anyone else has more descriptions, or can help... please chime in!

Thanks!
Karen

On the fourth the MK was open till 1AM I think. The perimeter fireworks were at 9, followed by the first spectro. Then there was another spectro at midnight. Not sure about the other parks. AK doesn't have night time activities, but was completely empty during the day (hint, hint!) We had PS at O'hana and then watched the fireworks from the Poly (at our waiters suggestion). Then we hopped the monorail and went into the MK (crazy but fun!!) Ren

We were there last summer and planned to do MK on July 4th. Some kind cast members convinced me to rethink that. One nice young woman who worked at Beach Club told me she started working at MK and was there one July 4th a few summers back. She said that when her shift ended, she was trapped in a sea of people between Small World and the Carousel. She literally could not move to get out of there and go home. She said it was extremely claustrophobic and not at all fun! I took her advice and we went to the MK on July 5th. Everyone else must've been exhausted and resting at their hotels because the crowds were very reasonable!

I don't want to be a party pooper. I am just giving you the "heads up." I have 2 small children and I was afraid I would lose them in those crowds. It's just no fun when it's THAT crowded! What I really wanted was to see the great fireworks and the same cast member informed me that they are "perimeter" fireworks on special days. They go up from all around the MK -- if you are on Main Street you can't even see them all! We watched from the beach at the Polynesian and they were simply awesome. "Perimeter" is a fair description but doesn't do the show justice. There were so many bursts of color from so many directions you literally didn't know where to look. It was amazing. The beach was jam packed with people all "oohing and aahing" and it was really special.

My advice? Do something relaxing on the 4th like swimming or visiting the resorts. Then park yourself at the Poly or Grand Floridian that evening and prepare for an amazing July 4th night! You can visit the parks the NEXT day!

Have fun!
