I have a slight gripe

I just visited Disney's site on E-bay and saw a pin that looked really cool. It's a limited edition (for their auction) of 100, selling for $20.00. I could see the price being $20.00 for a limited pin. However, they did produce them strictly for their E-bay site. What I'm really confused about is their shipping charges ---- $9.95 for one pin??? It only cost $0.65 (USPS) to ship one pin across the country. Am I missing something?

They use airborne which probably cost more. They do a weird shipment which it travels by USPS to the nearest Airborne facility near you then Airborne delivers it from there.

Cost for people to pack the item, boxes, tape, warehouse and whatever else they throw in there to get to that price.

What would you say if I was trying to sell a pin on e-bay and list $9.95 as the shipping cost? I'm sure most would laugh at me. I know that it cost the company money to have someone pack, tape, ship, etc. But Disney is a large corporation that can get thier shipping material at a reduced price, much more than I can. I personally think that this price is out-of-line. I mostly agree with their shipping prices, but this one has me bothered.

Let's say one person can ship out 10 pins in one hour, that's $100.00. Do you think labor and all the overhead cost equates to $100.00?

I just shipped a frame set of pins to CA and it cost me $15.65 just for USPS. Not including the box, bubble wrap etc... As fuel costs rise, so will shipping.

I agree that shipping will go up as gas does, but $9.95 for a pin that measure 2"x2.5" is much smaller and lighter than a frame of pins. USPS will only charge $0.65 to ship a pin across the country. I guess what bothers me is that I know it does not cost Disney $9.95 to ship one pin across the country, even if they take account of the overhead.

Just be thankful that Disney will now combine shipping. I've bought a few LE from the Disney Ebay site and they charged me seperate shipping for each pin. The auctions ended within hours of each other and shipped to same place. I even called and was informed that they were not "setup" to combine shipping.

As for the high shipping costs I always figure it into my pricing. If the item is 10.00 and S/H is 10.00 I ask myself if the item is worth 20.00 and go from there. Besides it's Disney and I've never known them to be "cheap" for the most part.

After I received my first pin shipment from Disney Auctions, I fully understood why they charge what they do for their shipments. I thought it was a bargain given the way that it was packed and the use of an express company. Do I like paying those fees? Not really. Did I feel that I was getting ripped off and putting money in their pockets? Not in the least.

Also, we3, you may not be able to get the pin for 20.00 In the Old days, you could. But I have several limited editions which I paid 40 or more for. I collect, I don't trade, so I am not that concerned that I have paid so much. I have 2 watch pins that were prototypes, only 4 of each made, I got one of each one (2 differnt colors). As far as shipping, if you don't want to pay it, don't bid. Unfortuneately, the charge for shipping is what it is, it doesn't have to make any sense. A few weeks ago I got a limited Snowglobe, it cam in a box marked delicate instruments and the return address was Disney Imagineering! I think that box should be a collectible.The shipping on it was 14.95, not cheap!
