Ok now that I have decided Sea world is out as well as kennedy space center (both need a whole day)
I was trying to think of anything esle to do if I decide to book a late (5pm.-ish) flight.

My latest ideas were wonderworks, universal city walk, gatorland or ripley's believe it or not.

Last year we went to downtown disney until our 2:20 flight and will probably just do that again unless I come up with something better. I'd like to give mike one last nice florida experience since we are not in a huge rush to get home but maybe I will just book the earlier flight. Anyone been somewhere good after the cruise. Disney is out as that would take more than a day for us :)

If you are a DVC member, you may want to go over to the boardwalk pool (I used to go to Sormalong Bay but they do not allow pool hopping any more). We spent a cozy afternnon until we needed to head to the airport. You can also stroll along the boardwald and have dinner or hang out at ESPN.

We are DVC members but at Vero, I did not think you could use the other resorts pools anymore ?

What did you do with your bags when you went to Downtown Disney?

We just kept them locked in the trunk of the rental car. That was a great place to kill some time. My son loved the lego store and we had lunch for less than $10.00 (love that dollar menu) at McDonald's which was great compared to the price of airport food!

Oh. We can't do that because we have a limo picking us up from the terminal. I wonder if USAir lets you check your bags at the terminal?

How were you going to get to Downtown Disney in the limo? If so I am sure they would let you keep your bags in it while you looked around but I am sure they would charge you to wait for you and return you to the airport. You might consider renting a car like we do for the return trip if your flight is late, sure beats hanging out at MCO,

I was hoping there would be a way to check our bags at the port but I don't know if you can do that. Then I thought the limo might take us to DD where we could take a cab or something back to the airport. I really haven't thought it out but we have a 3:15 flight and I don't want to hang out at the airport.

Well if it were me I would skip the limo, take the money you save with getting the rental car instead (it is so easy as the Avis shuttle picks up right at the pier) and go shopping at downtown disney or go sight seeing!

We have a 1:50 flight in Orlando and are being transported to the airport by DCL bus. What are our options before our flight?
Is there anything to do close to the airport? Is it possible to go to Downtown Disney or to see some of the hotels around Disney before going to the airport via DCL bus?

We had a 6 pm flight out the last day of our cruise. We had a rental from Avis. We spent some time at Ron Jon's, then drove to Wilderness Lodge. We walked over to Fort Wilderness and had lunch at Trails End, and afterwards enjoyed the goats and gift shop. Then we walked back to Wilderness Lodge and rented water mice, followed by some more shopping and exploring in the beautiful lobby and a final snack at Roaring Forks. The time just flew!

DCL bus will take you directly to the airport. The airport is about 15-20 mins. from downtown disney so I don't know how you would be able to swing that, I don't think they will let you take one bus to a resort and then another back to the airport, plus you would have all your luggage to content with.

There's nothing to do at the airport, but you don't have time to go anywhere else. Relax and have a nice lunch.

When we disembarked on 1/11 we had a 6:30 pm flight. We were able to check all our luggage in with Continental at the cruise terminal and then we took the Avis shuttle and picked up our car. We were able to downgrade to smaller car since we did not have the luggage with us.

We then went to DTD and shopped, had lunch at Wolfgang Pucks, and even caught the Movie Chicago at the AMC theatre. By that time it was 4:00 ish so we headed to the airport. It was a great day!!!

Ann:

Both times we cruised and had late flights we picked up a rental car and headed for the pool. The pool hopping has ended only for Storm along bay. Boardwald has no problem with the pool hopping. In fact, we were about the only ones at the pool this last time and the weather was beautiful.

I know that the time is limited between cruise and flight so I try not to get into a situation where I need to worry about the time. Hanging by the pool is a nice way kick back and reflect on the past week.

We got off the ship at 8:30, went to Avis and got our daily rental and drove to Daytona Beach, layed out on the beach in the nice sunny clear skies and then about 2 pm went to Daytona Speedway, did the track tour and then drove back to MCo for our 5:50 flight. It was so much fun! A great topping for the perfect criuse vacation! Have fun and enjoy yourself - it's your last day to be on vacation. Don't get burned out :D

So do I just drive to the boardwalk and show my DVC card? Where do you get changed?
This is a thought, although DS now really wants to go to gatorland...

Changing is cometimes tricky. There are bathrooms next to the pool (in the breezeway across from the excercize room). We just carry our backpacks with pool stuff and change there. Because the boardwalk pool is not a popular, I have never been asked for dvc passes at their pool.

Good luck
