Awhile ago someone posted a website where active or retired military, or their dependants could book luxury accomodations at a ridiculously low price. These accomodation vouchers could be used as prizes in charity raffles, or booked for 3rd party guests. I have forgotten the website, could someone post it and give some testimonials? Thanks

You may be referring to the Armed Forces Vacation Club (I think it's www.afvb.com, off the top of my head). I know active/retired military are entitled to the benefit and can purchase certificates for an added cost ($49, I think?) for otherwise non-eligible family and friends. Hadn't thought of the charity raffle thing...

We used the AFVC in Nov. for the first time on our trip to Orlando, and it was great. The best rates are for booking on a space available basis, which works well for some, but not for others. It's also best if you're traveling in the off season.

Local_girl... do you mind me asking where you were able to stay in Orlando?

SeaWitch,

We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club near Seaworld. I have also seen the Orange Lake Country Club and Silver Lake come up (more often than the HGVC, actually) on the space availability list, among others in the area. Both of these properties have pretty good reviews on these boards.
