I have been watching it since last week and it looks like it is going to be cold.Jan. average high is 72. This Sat it will be in the upper 50's and partly cloudy. I guess we had better pack enough warm clothes.

Yep, I am! My son's birthday is January 20th, so we are going to Disney, and it is going to be COLD!! I'll be packing coats, hats, gloves, the works! Kind of a bummer, but probably still better than 95 degree heat! Have a good time!!!

I was curious how to find out the weather for during my stay! I'm leaving late on the 19th (so that doesn't really count for this weekend since I'd arrive at almost midnight) but I'll be there till the 28th and I was wondering how cold it would be the entire time!

We were there over Christmas and the kids swam every day. Even some at night when it was 45-50 degrees. The pools are heated it is the getting out that hurts. ;)

You can check weather.com or accuweather for the forecast. The weathr at this time of year can range from 75-40 during the day and from 30-60 at night. When we were there in Dec. it was warmer sooome days than other. Some people were wearing shorts even .Try to be prepared.

75-40 during my stay would be fine. That would feel like I was at home! (Texas) :)

We are arriving on the 22nd, and I have been checking accuweather.com for the past few days. I've already prepared myself for it to be cool, but at least it won't be as cold and snowy as it is here in NY!

UPPER 50S?!?!?! Where do I sign up? It's 19 degrees here with snow showers.
Seriously, don't worry about the weather. There's nothing you can do about it anyway.
Threads like this remind me of something my uncle in Miami said to me over the phone one time in January - "It's 70 degrees, but I think there's a wind chill!"
I practically drove down there myself with a bucket of snow to dump on his head ;)

I was pretty worried about the weather. but I figure I can handle the cold as long as it doesn't rain too. I checked six separate forecasts online and only two predicted rain and not even on the same day!! so keep your fingers crossed for a dry weekend! See ya when we get back!

Makes you wonder if these weather forecasters are actually talking about the same place!!
Those 5-7-10 day forecasts are hardly better than a guess. Maybe a day or two before you go they might get it right--but even then it can be a struggle.
For my neck of the woods on Friday, snow has been in (and out) of the prediction since the weekend. Today, it was the possibility for snow, but I'm told to "stay tuned" as Friday comes closer.
Now that's REAL useful!!

I'm just thinking positive, and no matter what the weather... we'll be at the most magical place in the world!!! :D

I've been checking daily, too. But coming from Michigan at 19 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 3 I'm looking forward to 60's!!!
Last trip last year it was 75-80's - just perfect. It's interesting how the temps can vary in Florida.
Everyone going next week(s) - have a blast!! :D

As a former meteorology student, I can tell you that you're right on target. Scientists have greatly improved their long-range forecasting abilities, but they are still very limited. For example, they are very good at predicting general trends but not quite as good at figuring out the specifics. This upcoming snowstorm is a perfect example. Most forecasters agree with the general idea that a major storm will develop along the east coast on Friday, but the precise details are very sketchy. The computer models that forecasters use to predict the weather do not all "agree" on the storm's outcome. Thus, the forecast you see on TV depends on which model is favored by a particular meteorologist. Believe it or not, weather experts have debates about forecasts the same way talk show hosts have debates about politics. It's possible that the weather people working at the same TV station can also disagree, and the forecast you see on the air is a compromise between the different opinions.
The big problem I have is that there is so much competition among media outlets that they all try to outdo each other on who is the "most trusted", "most accurate" and so forth. It's not acceptable for them to just admit that they don't know because there's always a guy on a competing station willing to go out on a limb and make a predicition. There's a lot of pressure on forecasters to come up with something to make it sound like they know exactly what is going to happen even when they don't. No television station will ever get ratings by promoting the fact that "our guess is as good as the other station, but we make it look good!"

I thought maybe I was the only one worried. But I finally decided maybe the cold will keep all the locals home over the long weekend and we out-of-town folks will have the park to ourselves.;)
We're packing the same clothes we are wearing around here. But at least we have Pixie Dust there!!! I'm just hoping the SNOW forecast for Charlotte is wrong so our plane gets out of here on time & we don't miss our La Nouba show !!!
Everyone have a safe, magical trip ! And stay warm :sunny:
2 more days......:Pinkbounc

SeeWDW: Good luck. Even snow may not delay your plane too long--.
Apagano:
Thanks for that explanation. Not an exact science and probably never will be. Was watching the several Balto./Harisburg TV stations this morning--for our area tomorrow, it ranges from 3-5" of snow, to a snow that you can "sweep with a broom", to "no snow much north of Washington DC.". And as you say, all predictions from the exact same weather data, but "dueling computer models":)

Even the online weather websites are changing their minds daily!! A few days ago it said it was going to be a high of 59 and cloudy upon our arrival. Now it's saying 74 and periods of clouds and sunshine!
Oh, well, I don't care anymore, as long as it's warmer than here!! lol

Not sure about Orlando but I live in Gainesville (2 hours north of there) and they are predicting the coldest day of the winter here on Friday night/Saturday morning. Lows in the 20's for several hours (hard freeze). You might be right about the locals - we're not used to such cold temps! It will definately keep me at home! You'll still have fun - just dress in layers. :D :D

Well, my friend that is going with us told me she just got off the phone with her friend that is at the Boardwalk right now, and the temp is 72 and warm!
I hope that if there is a cold snap this weekend, that it's gone by next week! lol

Upper 50's IS NOT COLD!!!!
Tonight, where I come from, it's going down to 3 above zero.
THAT'S COLD!
Do you realize how lucky you are to be in WDW????
Buck up, put a smile on your face, leave the parkas at home, (you'll look like one of the wussy natives if you parade around with winter coat and gloves) and have a great time !!!!!!

LOL
I'm in Texas and even *I* don't think 50's is cold. We've been in the 30's and 40's recently (this is our "winter" time after all... for a few weeks atleast. That's about how long our winters last around here) and I was just a minute ago commenting to my husband about how the weather is SUPPOSED to be warmer in FL than it is here- during my stay in FL.
Just struck us both as funny.. considering usually when you live in Texas if you travel somewhere else in the winter time it's usually COLDER. Atleast for us (travelling north usually -or northeast)
:) If it's 50's, 60's or 70's during the day and down in the 20's at night it will STILL be warmer than it is here in Texas. So trust me... that's not cold. It can't be COLD if it's higher temps than TEXAS! LOL

Florida's low temperature on Saturday is higher than our high for the day (22 degrees)!! Upper 50's is gonna feel like a heat wave to me. Plus I don't have to look at the 2 feet of snow on the ground !!
