I was wondering if someone from Florida could help me out. I'm from NY and recently heard something about a new smoking ban in Florida. Can anyone tell me for sure what the exact ban is. Is it just inside of certain buildings such as restaurants, etc. or does it extend beyond that. My husband is a cigar smoker and we may be going to Disney World over the summer. He only smokes outside or on the balacony of our room, etc. and I was wondering what impact this would have on him.

The smoking ban has NOT gone into effect yet. When it does (and I heard it may be sometime in the summer), it will be no smoking in any restaurants, unless it's a bar that does NOT serve food. Most buildings are already smoke-free. You will still be able to smoke in outside areas.

I think they begin enforcement July 1... if the facility's income is predominantly from alcohol, they can still have smoking.

I think it takes effect July 1st?? Though almost half the restaurants(without bars!) put it into effect the 1st of Jan., some sooner. :D Those with food and bars are waiting until the last possible second I hear.

The Olive Garden by us has done it effective 1/7. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :teeth:
Our last stop at Disney I had requested a non-smoking room but they put us in a smoking building. It was horrible! I had them in there all the time trying to freshen it up.
