...and not sure why? I need to share this with someone who understands. It's just DH & I -- and he doesn't get it. LOL
I haven't really scrapped for a while. I struggle with it because I'm a perfectionist. I know they don't need to look like magazine style.... but I WANT them to.
Anyway, I've been scrapping WDW and ONLY WDW for what seems like 2 years now. (Finished 2001 trip -- but still doing 2000.) I think this is where my burnout was coming from.
So, I decided to scrap some jetskiing pictures from July 2002. I REALLY LIKE HOW IT CAME OUT!!!
Not sure if it's because of all the new (to me) tools I got to use. I've been shopping up a storm lately. LOL Or if was because I used some techniques new to me. Maybe it was because the photos were more recent & not WDW related.
I don't use white backgrounds -- but it really seems to work here. And I'm REALLY starting to find my style (after 2 years!!!). Some of my more favorite pages are straight lines -- not really cutesy. And THIS time I think I notice the photos instead of the scrapbooking (FINALLY!!!!!).
So with out further ado ---(drumroll please)
-----here it is --- MY STYLE!!!!!! :teeth:

What a great layout! I really like what you have done with the title! Thanks for sharing them! I sometimes feel that too-once in a while I am just so happy with a layout-everything just comes together!

Aw, now I'm blushing. :o
I've often felt my other pages were crowded (I guess)....and that the scrapping was the first thing I looked at instead of the pictures.
But thanks. Maybe I won't be so critical of my own work.
(NOT ------ LOL. That's just how I am.)
I think what I REALLY like about this one is:
-it's balanced well (color & layout wise)
-1st time using patterned paper (several co-ordinated kinds that matched ocean water color very well) -- and it's subtle. I've always had problems figuring out how to use patterned paper before -- even though I like it.
-I had all these FAR AWAY pictures -- and I figured out how to use them. 2" squares. And a good balance of regular size pics.
- :) Yah -- and I thought the "o"'s in the title were clever too. First time for me doing that.

Great layouts, you should give yourself a pat on the back! Keep up the good work, it does feel great when you have completed pages that you really like.

"I love it when a plan comes together"
Great layout.
I know the feeling. No one but another scrapper can understand.

Very nice layout!!! I love how you used the pics for the "o"s in you title, clever!!! My style is similar to yours, I like the clean, not overdone layouts. Your little guy (paperkin?) on the jetski is cute too!:D Thanks for sharing!:D

I think that's really cute - I love the jetskier, and the little line of square photos.
I think also that if you have been scrapping Disney for years, then you do tire of it, and it's quite refreshing to do something different. I did our 2001 trip all at once, and was quite burned out by the end. Almost as soon as I finished we went to Disneyland Paris, and I just put those photo's in a regular album, I just couldn't face scrapping them. Then in 2002 we went back to WDW, and I have been scrapping this trip slowly - I've done some WDW and some normal pictures, and I have found I enjoy the Disney pages a lot more when I don't feel obliged to do them. I think I will end up scrapping most of this trip, but I have some page protectors that hold 4x6 photos, so I will put any extras in there (like the entire roll of 36 I took of the MGM stars in the Cars parade! I mean it was a good parade, but 36! pics - that would be like 6-8 layouts. I think 1 layout and then a couple of pages of plain photos will do just fine!

Those are definitely a great layout - yes I love it when a plan comes together. I have some I reallly like and others - well they get the pics in the book!
I don't think it matters WHAT you're doing, if the theme is basically the same for pages on end it gets tiring. I did massive catch up this past summer and I know I had to keep rotating between Disney, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts & football. Right now the Disney & Scouts are caught up and I'm focused on football. I know when I accomplish the goal I've set I will be Sooooo tired or layouts incorporating blue & white.
One thing I try to do, even when working with a consistent theme is vary between print backgrounds and white or some other plain color. It helps and seems to make the book more interesting.

Your layout looks awesome! Colors look great together and the font was a great choice!
I also, have always liked your style. I can see it from your other pages. It's a little like mine, clean, sharp, non-busy, looks great!
After awhile, scrapping one theme (like Disney) can drain your creativity! My first 3 albums ever were all Disney and then 2 for my DCL trip. I just started scrapping "real life" last year and find it a lot easier to create pages now. I haven't scrapped much since I've been back to work but have completed 1 and a half albums, starting from 1996.
We are always our own worst critic, sometimes, I look back on a certain layout and think "what the HECK were you thinking of Cass????" but I learn from my mistakes too and you should be very proud of yourself for even finishing a layout! A lot of work goes into scrapbooking a page and ALL of us here know how much thought, time and creativity is invested in a single layout.
Anytime you want to share a layout, you go girl! I look forward to more of your work :D
