I was watching the Disney Christmas Parade on ABC, hosted by Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. As I was preparing a late breakfast for my DFamily, they were showing a panning shot of the castle, and there, clear as day, was the Sky Ride, moving in full force. HOW CAN THAT BE???!?!?! I know what I saw. Did anyone else happen to catch it too? Any explanations?????:earseek:

stock footage?
My guess is old shots were editted in with new shots and the people doing the editting didn't realize that the Skyway had been removed.

The parade specials have been re-using the same footage of the parks for several years now. Even shots of the parade crowds are frequently re-used from one year to the next. It's a Disney tradition dating back to the Disneyland shows of the 50s.

...the shot was clearly in the context of a historical shot. The parade special wasn't at all trying to "pull anything over" on viewers.

Don't fel bad. I saw the same thing and started hollering. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My DH assumed it was old footage, I on the other hand had high hopes.:p

Sounds like the cruise line brochure. It has pics (2!) of the Grand Floridian with people swimming in the lagoon. I don't know when that was last allowed!

The parade is filmed new every year. I was there when they were filming, the beginning of December. Regis and Kelly filmed their part the next week. Everything is scripted, no ad libs. So when they are looking over their shoulder, they are looking at nothing. LOL They film the parade, one float at a time. So that everything is just perfect.

The Magic Kingdom obviously has rips in time and space through-out the park.
On another note, how often do they update the footage (Hey look its Dreamflight! Isn't that gone.....)
