We don't have it and I hesitate to buy it on tape (Ebay) if the DVD might come out soon?

Thank you.

'The Lion King' will be playing in IMAX theaters December 25, 2002, and in turn be 2003's Platinum Collection title, followed by the January 1, 2004 IMAX release and subsequent DVD release of 'Aladdin'. Then the Platinum Editions take a two-year vacation to the jungle with 'Bambi' in 2005 and the reissue of 'The Jungle Book' in 2006. 'Cinderella' arrives in 2007, followed by the eagerly anticipated DVD return of 'The Little Mermaid' in 2008. And then the collection rounds out by going to the dogs with 'Lady and The Tramp' in 2009 and '101 Dalmatians' in 2010.

That's amazing. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I think I'd better go ahead and try and snag Cinderella on Ebay. It's selling very high - like $40 or $50. I was in a store recently (not a Disney store) and I saw a promo tape advertising the release of Cinderella, so that's why I was wondering. But the tape could have been dated because it was also advertising the release of the Aristocats.

Anyone know the scheduled release date of Sleeping Beauty? It has been previewed on Lilo & Stitch and Beauty & the Beast, but it only says Coming Soon.

Rumors have it that Disney management is rethinking the entire release schedule, and even the entire concept of the “Platinum Series”. The IMAX re-releases of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘The Lion King’ fell well below expectations; the DVD sales of ‘Snow White’ and ‘Beauty’ also fell well below what Disney wanted. That’s not to say that sales weren’t good, just that they didn’t meet the financial targets Disney had set. The ‘Platinum’ sets also cost more to produce – all those extra goodies cost money. A debate is currently going on between the “high quality, higher prices” people and the “bare bones, sell ‘em by the pound” people. As with ‘Lilo and Stitch’, future releases may be stripped of all but the basics.

There are other rumors that the Studio is seriously off its numbers overall. On of the easiest and fastest ways of getting cash would be to release more DVDs. Look for some serious changes to the release schedules very soon.

Does anyone know when they last released Cinderella? I thought they had some kind of schedule they followed, but it seems like a really long time ago for that one. (my mom left my video on the heater and melted the box so I have been waiting for this one)
