While at Disney World, some of the CM at the Diamond Horseshoe said there were rumors that the show there would be cancelled at the end of February and that a new character show would be there instead. I sincerely hope not. That is my all time favorite place at Disney World.
Has anyone heard anything to confirm or deny this rumor?

I am not sure what they plan to do at WDW. I do know a few years ago at DISNEYLAND they put "woody's round - up" in at the Golden Horseshoe I believe it only lasted one summer (I was bummed that it was gone before we could see it).

yes I do! That was a very funny show. But I think my favorite show was with Sam the Bartender and Miss Lilly and the dancing girls.

I didn't see the original Diamond Horseshoe show, but I saw the original Golden Horsehoe show at Disneyland and I miss that. It's one of the things I think Disneyland could bring back cheaply for the 50th anniversary that would make a lot of people happy.
But if Disney is going to replace the show with a character thing I think that would be sad. I love my characters, but what's wrong with variety? I'm tired of how homogenous the parks are becoming. "People say they want characters, lets put characters in everything!" It's overboard.

I remember when you had to get reservations for the Diamond at WDW because it was so popular. If you didn't get to City Hall first thing on entry you had to hope for a cancellation or go to schmooze the greeter at the door.

The show is still a "sell-out" crowd every day that we were there. Many people still stand in the back or on the steps to see the show. I wish they would bring back the dancing girls though. A lot of people miss them.

You know, Frontierland is supposed to based on life in the Old West, right? Wouldn't a saloon show with saloon people fit the atmosphere better? It would be crazy to change this show and put in characters. Once again, things are straying so far from Walt Disney's original intentions for his theme parks. Are the egos so large at Disney's corporate headquarters that they believe they are more creative and brilliant that the great Walt Disney? God, I wish we could bring him back for just one day...

I really hope this is just a rumor. The first time I saw the show was on my honeymoon. Miss Lilly came down and was sitting on DH's lap and flirting with him the whole show. We really enjoyed it. Well, I did anyway, hubby was mortified!!!! lol. But I would really like to see Miss Lilly and the girls back too.

“Wouldn't a saloon show with saloon people fit the atmosphere better?”
Characters sell merchandise.
Saloon shows don’t.
That’s about all you really need to understand what Disney is doing in the parks these days.

I hope it doesn't turn into another character show or meal. I really enjoy Diamond Horseshoe and am looking forward to seeing it again in March for my birthday.

I too hope it's a rumor. Our family really enjoys the Diamond Horseshoe. Always very entertaining and they have decent food there too.;) :)
We were just talking about making sure to go there at least once on our next visit.

Bunchkin, they don't serve salads and sandwiches anymore. They only serve Danish, and drinks and ice cream. The counter people tried to tell the powers that be, that people wanted to eat their lunch or dinner there, but were ignored. People now run to Pecos Bills or grab a turkey leg to watch the show.
