I copied this info and link from other board. Thought fellow DVCers would be interested.

Use this link, select any option and ignore the passcode to register online for information about applying Day 1 for the Disney VISA card.

Thanks for the information; I went into the link and signed up to be notified when the card will be available. Do you have any information on what the Disney Rewards will be that can be earned?

Sorry I don't know the specific rewards but there are some general comments at this link.

I just signed up to be notified when the application process is open. I hope the card has some good benefits and that the interest rate is low - also glad there's no annual fee too. Thanks again for the heads up!

I really want to see what the benefits will be? Somehow I doubt Disney will be giving us anything worthwhile. Probably 10% off your purchases at the DS:rolleyes: They will assume you will want this card just because it has a picture of Mickey on it.  . How about something like 10% off ALL your purchases while on vacation at WDW (tickets, hotels, restaurants, and DVC add-ons;) )

Frankly I continue to believe that this credit card is a big fat hot poke in the eye of Disney's "loyal customers." It galls me.

After a year or two of talking about rewards programs for "regular customers" what they come up with is a program to generate new revenue for the disney co. All that talk about designing a program that tailors itself to the individual preferences of those loyal customers, and what they do is take away the disney club and replace it with a credit card. No matter that a lot of people don't want another credit card, and some people won't even be able to get it, it will generate revenue for disney every time one of our little sheep loyal customers use it. Instead of rewarding those loyal customers they are using them.

I'm sure someone just said "Oh, slap a day one on it and make it a collectible card" (collectible card? Like the third year of the DC that was exactly the same as the second year?) and our "loyal customers" will lap it up. They'll think we are doing them a big favor.

Their loyal customers ought to tell them were to stick it. It is a bunch of crap if you ask me.

Another nay-sayer here. If they had kept DC and used this in tandem, it would not have been as bad. But unless the perks are great (and I am not holding my breathe) I think it stinks.
I have nothing against Disney deciding they should be the ones to earn the interest on what their guests spend on their items/parks. They should have come up with years ago.
But it's the way they are going about doing this that irritates me. And I still see little to no real concrete information. If it was real good, they would be plastering the details all over everything.

They did. Isn't that what the Disney Credit Card is?? What they want know, is the interest from their "loyal customers" on purchases OTHER then Disney.

Let's hope Disney and Bank One come up with something better than Universal and Chase did!

Here's the Universal Studios Visa (Chase Bank) reward card link:

Hmmm, 8,000 points for a USH AP, and 18,000 for a USO AP...

A USO AP is 159.95. Do you earn one point for every dollar spent on the Universal Card? (I assume so, but I didn't see that on the website)

If so, its the equivalent of just under a 1% rebate. Most of the other options seem to be in the same ballpark. That's not bad when you consider there is no annual fee. If you pay the balance every month, anything you get in the way of merchandise/tickets is free.

Some have said they hope there are some discounts available with the card. While that would be nice, I'd be surprised if there were much in this area. What is more likely is "bonus point" opportunities for using the card for certain Disney products or with specified partners, or for using the card the first time.

For instance, double points for theme park purchases, or possibly at The Disney Store, or at World of Disney.

No inside info, just my guess based on what other rewards cards do.

I heard about the card too. And I also heard that there will be a special version for DVC Members and that we need to make sure we sign up through the DVC website in order to get the special DVC version of the card. I can't wait!!

Simba, how did you hear about the special DVC version? Do you know any more details about it?

I'm actually looking forward to this. I hope they offer Disney Magazine or at least a good newsletter. That was the best remaining perk for DC after we joined DVC since the 10% discount and room discounts became redundant/useless. I feel for those who won't qualify for (or don't want) another credit card, but that's not a big deal to me personally.

I will most likely get the card since Disney perks are more fun than the Discover CashBack that is 'up to' 1% and the Citibank Driver's Edge which earns rebate toward auto purchase at a similar rate (how often do you buy a car? and when you do, a couple hundred in rebates hardly makes a dent). I have been tempted by the airline miles cards, but they had high annual fees last I checked.

I expect the Disney Visa to offer about 1% back toward Disney purchases on all your credit card purchases. Purchases made at Disney (or promotional partners) will probably yield higher rebates (5% or more?).

I really like the idea of a special card/program for DVC members. That could be cool but I wonder what would be the special considerations?!?!

What are the odds of them giving the captive audience, DVC, anything more than three additional letters on the front of the card?

I can see it now "DAY 1, DVC" or just DVC if you are late signing up. I really hope the exceed my expectations but I am not holding my breath.

I'm curious to see how this will relate to the Disney Credit Card customers now?????

For example other cards such as Target....when they switched from their own to a Target Visa.... Random guests were sent the Visa automatically to replace the old "red card". Other guests were sent letters stating they could apply for the Visa and still keep the "red card". Others just had to apply at the store, then they had both and it was us to them to close the old account.
But the other thing....it was depending on their credit rating what kind of interest rate they got. It varied from 9.9% to 18.9% (I think), which is what alot of Visa cards do now anyway.

As far as the rewards.....we will just wait and see on that one!:)
I am sure it will be announced prior to the "sign up" date of March 4th. The more that people know about it, the more eager they will be to sign up. If they don't know what the reward program will entail, I don't think they will just sign up for the "special" card and pin.

So I will be looking for the information to become public by mid-February. What do you think??

Received a DVC newsletter via Email today, and received this confirmation that there will be a DVC version of the card:

"Disney's Visa Credit Card from Bank One is coming soon. It's the
first credit card in history that will offer Disney Dream Reward
Dollars(SM) on your Disney's Visa Card purchases. Apply between
March 4 - 24, 2003, and your card will be embossed with Disney
Vacation Club and will also reflect "Cardmember Since Day 1."
As a "Day 1" cardmember, you'll also receive a limited edition
commemorative pin to mark the occasion. More information will be
available soon at dvcmember.com "

Of course, it mentions nothing other than the words "Disney Vacation Club" being on the card.

I wonder if that will somehow be used AGAINST us? You know, "Use your Disney Visa at WoD for a 15% discount*

*Discount not available to DVC members, since we have your money anyway."

Hmm, competitive APR, so about 14.9%. I do like the idea of Disney Reqrd DOllars. Hopefully htis will be able to be used for Disney Vacations such as rooms and tickets. If this is the case, then I will use the card for purchases which I can pay the total balance for. This way it is the same as using cash and I will get the benefit of the Disney Reward Dollars.

They are now talking 1% cash back in place of "points", and given in $10- 20 increments. I think this is pretty accurate, unless this is only the rewards for the CMs, or it is a different Disney Visa they were discussing. One question- if its only a straightforward 1% back, why all the fuss and secrecy? Maybe there's more to it that nobody's heard yet. I hope so!

How about making the credit cards work in the Fast Pass machines at WDW and DL?

Maybe 10 free wildcard fast passes per day per credit card number?

What about letting me redeem points for a one-day unlimited fast pass card?

By virtue of my (Canadian) employer's use of Disney management training courses, I was a Magic Kingdom Club member for years. When that went away I was very disappointed (used to be great off-season perks!), but we went ahead and signed up with Disney Club (not as good but it's something).

Well....now DC is fading and (disappointed again) I explored the benefits of the Disney Visa.

Guess what?? The Visa is not open to Canadians such as myself. More specifically, it's open to US residents only. I work in banking and I know what's involved in getting a credit card setup in Canada and, yes, it takes some doing.

However, I have to say.... I'm extremely disappointed that Disney has chosen not to offer (apparently) any loyalty program to International customers at this time. Considering the $$$ I spend with Disney every year or so (not to mention the crushing exchange rate we have), it would be nice to see something from Disney. Granted, they do offer some great park discount offers to Canadian citizens. That said, they are very time-of-year oriented (Spring Break, etc.) and I'd prefer a loyalty program that gives me flexibility with dates, accomodations, etc. etc.

Whew.... got that off my chest!!
