View Full Version : Dolphins- best chance of viewing on ship?

I hope this doesn’t sound like a silly question. Some folks mention seeing dolphins swimming alongside as the ship left port. I have been on a couple of cruises and have not come close to seeing this.
Anyone know the best place to possibly see dolphins? Forward, aft, topside, on your own veranda, portholes in Sessions bar? Just wanted to maximize the chance of seeing this.
BTW, on a previous cruise I was admiring the view from our veranda, when I noticed a large school of flying fish. I thought it was pretty neat.

I was starboard side, deck 10 and a little aft on the 12-15 Wonder. The dolphins came from the right side of the ship across her bow as we left. I would say your best bet to site would be along either side (we were just lucky it was starboard as we left the port.) This way you can look up and down the side you are on and get a better chance to see them.

We saw them on the Dec. 14 cruise as we left Port Canaveral. We were on the starboard side , Deck 10 , near the front of the ship. They were at the end of the channel just as we were heading into the ocean. There was a pod of them jumping out of the water on the starboard side. It was one of the highlights of the trip!

We saw dolphins during our Western cruise this November. We actually saw them out at sea, during the first sea day between Key West and Grand Caymen. It was really cool to see them "race" the ship.
We were leaving the Character Breakfast (still singing the Breakfast Hand Jive) and watched them from the portholes on the fourth deck.
They were Disney Dolphins, of course. :)
