Dana,

What do you mean drag your 26 yo DH around. I am 26 as well. I married an older chick. Kamy is 30 something.

I'm so glad I found this board, it's so much fun seeing everyone getting as excited as I am. I've picked out my cloths and made an appointment for nails, feet and hair for the 17th so I'll be like a new women for the cruise. I'm glad to hear someone else mananged to get their DS into a suit, he wouldn't believe me that other kids would be wearing them too. He insists I'm the only mother that makes kids have to do such "horrible" things as wear "dress up cloths".

skc2116-

LOL! Tell your DS that my KID is 22! He fancies himself a pirate: , and would gladly spend the entire cruise walking around in those long baggy shorts. But we found a suit yesterday and he will be wearing it for the two nights he needs to dress up on the ship.

Good morning everyone! Well, we leave for FL in ONE WEEK!!!!! YAHOO!!! Cruisin' here we come! :boat:

Yeah, I am older than my wonderful tarzanman......but I am a kid at heart...ask anyone who knows me and they will vouch for that! LOL!! :wave:

I love these new smilies! I have to use all of them! LOL!! Just kidding....:tongue:

So, I see some people don't like dressing up...that's okay....I really like it since we don't get dressed up to go out very often, so it is a nice change!
Loretta- Glad you found your pirate: a Nice suit! I am sure he will look great...so nice that he wants you to have your family all dressed up...make sure to get tons of pictures!!

I am so ready to see the ::MickeyMo and go :boat: !!

skc2116 - I've got an appointment next week to get my toes done too! Got to have nice feet for the cruise. As far as boys dressing up, don't feel bad if you can't convice your son to wear a suit. My 10 year old will probably where a shirt and tie, but no jacket.

Don't you all :lovestruc these new:) . They're a :laughing: !!

Can't wait to :boat: will all of you!!

Tarzan - my DH is such a kid at heart and that only increases when we go on vacation, but truth is, we can't tell who is the bigger kid when we cruise. And technically, my DH married an older woman too....I'm older by 1 whole month. :laughing:

Well, princess: princesses, looks like we'er all getting gussied up for the cruise. Nail and Hair :crazy: appts here too. Although, I'll share a little hair drama with you...I've never had hair shorter than shoulder length my whole life....and I'm actually considering a fun, sassy short cut for the cruise.:boat: That's if I can go through with it. :scared: I just thought it would be fun and easy..less time primping means more time having fun! :sunny:

2 weeks till I see you all :grouphug:

WOOHOO :hyper:

kamgen
10-03-2003, 10:18 AM
Dana- sounds awesome! I am the opposite...my hair was short last year when we cruised and I have let it grow out...it is shoulder length now! I love being able to put it up quick! But short and sassy sounds great! Good luck with whatever you decide! :cutie:

I am going to do some self pampering with nails and toes this weekend...saving all my spa savings for the cruise! I am big fan of the spa onboard! :goodvibes

I cannot wait until we leave...one more week...just one more week! :boat:

Two weeks! Two weeks! Two weeks!:Pinkbounc

I am so jealous of all of you that get out there the week before. You are all gonna have so much fun! :D

I can't believe that it's that cold where some of you are. Perhaps I am a little spoiled by the So Cal weather. I never thought it got below 70 anywhere. ;)

Dana -- If I see you guys at the airport, I'll be sure to introduce my 31-year-old child to your 26-year-old one. If only I could get him to play nicely with my three-year-old . . .:scratchin

I'm gonna try to make the Palo chocolate souffle tonight. The recipe was in the Disney Magazine and I have been waiting for the cruise to get closer before trying it. Hopefully I'll make it half-way edible. I'm pretty scary when it comes to cooking. :crazy2: I just can't wait to try the real one on board!

kamgen
10-03-2003, 02:36 PM
Good luck with the Souffle! It is so yummy and I love the vanilla sauce!! :lovestruc

I am so glad we leave in a week...it is cold here, I miss my pals and I need a vacation! One week from now, I am outta here :moped:

Now Beano.....no joking about that stuff! This Disney Cruise stuff is serious business! :earseek: LOL!! Just kidding!

If we go around saying false things, these people won't realize that we are experts! :crazy:

J/K!! :sunny:

BeanoC
10-03-2003, 03:33 PM
Kamy, they know we're experts!! After all, how many of THEM have advance tickets to the shows?? And how many of them were smart enough to plan their dining budget ahead of time?? Those restaurants on board might be expensive!! And I'll bet none of them have their all day passes to the waterslide yet either! The only thing I haven't gotten yet are my reservations for Topsiders.

See?? Our expertise shows.:crazy:

Lindsay...I'm sure my DH would love to meet you guys. We'll also have our friends with us...she'll be dragging her 27 year old kid along. They have a 1 1/2 year old, but they are leaving him behind. This is the honeymoon they never got. :lovestruc

Who are we kidding....we're all just big kids with bigger and more expensive toys.:yo-yo:

Beano, Tim, Kamy, Renee - I think just from what I've gotten to know from these boards...even if DCL wasn't such a great cruise line :boat: , we'd still be sailing with you guys. You all just seem like too much fun! :rotfl: My kind of crowd. :) Besides you've had such great info....like....all the excursions are included with the price of the trip, you never sit with the same people each night at dinner, CC is a dump and we shouldn't waste our time getting off the ship there, and countless other great tips.:laughing: J/K - you guys have been the best, I'll certainly miss you on the boards the week you guys will enjoying the ::MickeyMo while we're all waiting to :boat: .

Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone on board! maybe even some of you at MNSSHP on the 16th.

We finally decided on some excursions. We ar going onthe Golden Eagle in St. Martin and will go to find Blackbeard's castle and Magen's Bay in St. Thomas. Waited too long to book parasailing on CC, so we will settle for a massage ::yes::

Beano, don't worry about being a kid, that's what vacations are for!

Only one more week at work - Yeah!

We fly down to WDW on the 14th for a little relaxation before the cruise. (I hope you guys didn't think the cruise would be relaxing!)

I see Beano, Tim and Kamy are getting into the partying mode. You guys aren't going to be all pooped out from your 4 day cruise are you?

Is it time to go yet? :hyper:

Well, there is a reason why I am not a chef. I totally spaced while making the souffle. I read the recipe God knows how many times and I ended up forgetting to put the yolks into the souffle batter. Didn't realize this until the were almost done baking. It still turned out yummy though, a little soupy, but definitely yummy. ::yes:: And I agree Kamy, the vanilla sauce is divine. Can't wait to taste the real thing on the ship.

I am so ready for this. Bring on the good company and the sailaway drinks! :boat:

Hiya all!
sorry for gatecrashing your thread, but I just want to wish all of you Bon Voyage.

we wish we were comming with you again this year, but we did manage to spend a massive 4 weeks in Florida this summer ( 2 at WDW to thrash the AP's we got last October! )

and the boat would list to one side if I got on it this month.....I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant!

so you guys will just have to have an extra drink of the day (or two) for me, I'm sure that wont be hard eh? Beano?

sorry Tim but you'll have to find a new dance(?) partner this year, or perhaps you could just prop up the bar again?!!!

Kamy, congrats on all the weight loss, just dont put it ALL back on on the cruise

anyway have fun one and all ( to all of you who didn't sail last October... this is a great crowd you're with) and once again Bon voyage :D

Thanks again Lindsay for the recipe. I am no gourmet cook, but I hope it comes out half way decent. I will keep you posted when I give it a try....

tchrmom,

We are to land around 11 something on Friday the 17th, so we plan on doing some kind of sightseeing before check-in. Any suggestions anyone?

My daughter has probably invited over 50 people to come on the cruise with us. She will tell total strangers in a grocery store that she is going on a Disney cruise and then proceeds to invite them!

Has anyone seen kids dressed up as their favorite princess at the character breakfast? NOt sure if I should bring her dress-up stuff...

nicurnc
10-05-2003, 03:44 PM
Perchinske, if you are going directly to the port, there are lots of things to see. The beach, RonJon's surf shop, kennedy Space Center. That is so cute about your daughter, surprised no one tried to take her up on her generous offer:teeth:
I would let her dress up for the character breakfast, lots of kids do.

Welcome to Paulc from the UK! Hope to see you on board!

Lindsay, I'd love a copy of that souffle recipe::yes::

Teachers have an inservice that day, so I can't leave until after 1:30. We are about 2 1/2 hours from the port. We are eating Jumbo rock shrimp at Dixie Crossroads, (thanks, Verandah Man) for dinner. Then, we will probably go to Ron Jons. Maybe we will see you at the Radission!

Greetings everyone ! Hope everyone had a great weekend !
Seems like we've been counting down the days forever, and here comes the last 11 days. I'm sure this will feel like eternity !

Hey Dana!
I'm passing on the lime green at the Port. Since I was wearing lime green in my last embarkation photo, I want to wear something different this time. Maybe, I'll use Loretta's idea and attach a lime green ribbon to my carry-on. Anyhow, I wouldn't spend too much time searching for lime green.

Hey DMoss'

I had trouble finding green shirts. Hubby found Cheapestees.com.
I found lime green under the Gildan Ultra Cotton shirts. Ordered them last night.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone...good to know I won't be shunned for not wearing lime green. I will check out cheapestees.com as tchrmom suggested, thx. :)

Depending on what I find, I think a trip to Home Depot for the lime green Mickey ears are in order. I think I could make some really cute tags out of them. LOL :)

Well, it certainly is going to be a very busy week or so ahead of us....:hyper:

Only 3 more days of work. Fortunately I've been very busy which makes the time go by a lot faster.

DW went out and bought me a bunch of new clothes yesterday. It seems that all of my dress pants have shrunk while hanging up in the closet this past year!

Kamy - Tim doesn't actually have a drivers license does he? Now that would be scary!

I have a few questions....

1) Can dh get away with a nice dress shirt for an evening at Palo's or is a jacket a must?

2) If using the internet to check your own account, does it have to be through a certain provider? We have earthlink. Would hotmail or yahoo be better?

3) Can DH wear nice dress sandals with khakis to dinner, or must they be dress shoes?

Just trying to get most of my questions answered before most of the board leaves this week!!

Snorgg, can you fly your wife out here to help me pack? ;)

Funny story ..... I read on one of the tip threads that this lady said she premeasured out detergent and put into ziplock bags. I thought this was a great idea and went ahead and did that. DH saw it and said there is no way we are taking that because we will never make it to the cruise. He said the white detergent powder in a baggie may end up being mistaken for something else. DH hasn't been involved in too much of the planning stages, but he sure made a good point this time!

kamgen
10-08-2003, 04:33 PM
1. Yes a shirt and tie is fine.....jacket is recommended but not neccessary

2. Not sure......

3. I think sandals would be fine......JMHO. I have seen people way underdressed

Of course, others may have different opinions! :tongue:

Perchinske
10-08-2003, 04:45 PM
Kamy, what does JMHO mean?

DMoss3377
10-08-2003, 04:54 PM
Rena...

JMHO means Just My Humble Opinion, although, Kamy and her crew may have "other" meanings. LOL

Les - I'll be packing for my DH and I this weekend....otherwise, if I left it up to him, we'd be packing an hour before we leave. LOL Talk about procrastination, if you want him anywhere on time, you have to tell him 1/2 earlier than what's true.

Tarzan - Won't be any problems getting me on the dance floor...but my wonderful DH may be hiding. LOL Last year a cast member actually got him to participate in the Battle of the Bands...wig and all as part of Bon Jovi...it was hilarious, especially knowing how shy he is. LOL And wouldn't you know it, the one time I didn't have my camera permantly attached. I scrapbooked it anyway...just used the medal he got when Bon Jovi won the contest.:smooth:

Rena, JMHO Means (J)ust (M)y (H)umble (O)pinion.

As for your question about checking your account, I assume you mean your personal email? If it is a web-based account, such as yahoo or hotmail, you would have no trouble. But if your email is on your ISP's server, then you can't get it from the ship's computers. So the question is, what type of Earthlink acct. do you have?? :)

'Beano':cool:

10-08-2003, 05:20 PM
Les- My DH will be packing on Thursday too! Actually, he'll be doing laundry and packing on Thursday, after he gets back from China.

Rena -
When we went to Palo on the Wonder, my DH wore just a shirt and tie. I know that the Wonder is a little more casual but I would think he'd be fine. And as far as sandals, I think they would be fine too. After all who is going to be looking at his feet.

Beano is right about the email. Do you use Outlook Express or something like that to get your email, or do you go to a certain web page? If it's the second, your email is web-based. If it's the first, Earthlink may still allow you to get your email from a website, just email and ask them.

2) If using the internet to check your own account, does it have to be through a certain provider? We have earthlink. Would hotmail or yahoo be better?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You CAN use your Earthlink account to check your mail.
1)Goto www.earthlink.net
2)Log in using the same user ID and password as at home
3)Click on"check Earthlink email"
Understand that any mail that you review while away from your home computer may not be retrievable once you arrive back at home. Therefore, any mail that you want to be certain to be able to retrieve at home, you should "forward" it back to your own email address at Earthlink, or to another web based browser. Does that help at all ?
Give me a call on my cell if your interested ! I'll help you arrange the reservations!
Happy Countdown !
Still here! Did not make it on the thread yesterday. We were out enjoying the fall foliage, getting pumpkins, hayride and apple farm before we hit the palm trees and warm weather!
I have a really stupid question, but I bought a door shoe holder as suggested on the tips. It hangs with only a hanger. Is there place to hang it on the back of the bathroom door?
I have been doing some errands every day. I think I found the last pair of white sandals in Northeast Ohio:Pinkbounc
I think it will be very surreal to finally get to the boat after all this planning!
I was just curious. Since we are landing on Friday morning, is there any good outlet shopping malls by the airport, or on the way to the Radisson? How far is Disney from the airport? Any neat places to eat lunch around there?
paulcrsb
10-12-2003, 11:25 AM
I'm going to have my DW answer your questions. So here she is........
Hello fellow shipmates,
We're going to consult our video on the shoe hanger. I don't believe there is a peg on the outside of the door. There is one on the closet door and one on the wall just outside the bathroom. That's where I hung my organizer.
The airport is about 30-45 minutes from the start of the Disney property depending how you go. Do you know about the express and toll ways? Be sure and have some change. The most direct way to the port costs about $5 to travel. You pay it out in amounts like $1.50, $1.25, etc. so take a roll of quarters then you can zip through and throw the money in a basket with very little slow down. We are always looking for the fastest way to just get there so we can, as my DH says, "Get up and smell the Disney."
So in answer to your question about shopping malls, LOL LOL LOL LOL. You might as well ask about a dentist to get some teeth pulled on your vacation. That's about the same chance as I would have of seeing a shopping mall. Again, DH, "I hate shopping! Have I told you how much I hate shopping? Why would I want to ruin MY vacation with shopping! What do you need anyway...........................(30 minutes later) No.
You can go to the Disney Marketplace. In fact definately plan to go there at least once. They have the most amazing Disney store you'll ever see and lots of Disney specialty shops. There is a Rainforest Cafe, Wolfgang Puck Express and even a McDonalds. Then save room for desert at the Ghirardelli Shop, all things chocolate!!!!!
If you want to head right to the coast there are lots of places to eat in Cocoa Beach, which is just past the Radisson. That's also where Ron Jon Surf Shop is. Another must see. Great place to do last minute shopping for beach/pool stuff. We have some great pictures of our kids with the statues out front.
The Pier, a place with restaurants and shops is suppose to be cool, but we've never been there, only heard about it. I guess it's the hot nightlife spot in Cocoa Beach! Maybe someone else can chime in on these questions and help you out more.
We leave reeeeeeealy early on Tuesday. I can't wait to go and meet you all. As you can see I'm much more wordy than Paul.
Bon Voyage!
Hi Everyone!
Sorry I missed the Wonder today. I was busy running the Chicago marathon. It was a great experience, but I am absolutely beat. But, see us old folks can still do something! "Spud, you've run a marathon, what are you going to do next? GO ON A DISNEY CRUISE!!!!"
Rena, I bought a closet organizer with hooks instead of a hanger. You can hang the hooks over the door. It worked great on our last cruise. I can't remember where I bought it (maybe Target).
Pam-You should post more often. You have all sorts of useful info.
Hi everybody:wave2: :wave2:
Rena, I saw your post about outlet shopping and thought I might add my thoughts. If shopping is really what you want to do on the start of your vacation, then Orlando is the place to go. You will see signs all over that will direct you to all the outlets. You may want to go online and look up in your search Orlando shopping outlets. There are a couple of good outlet malls, I think one of them has Old Navy, and Gap. And don't worry it is fairly easy to get around in Orlando, as I always say to my DH, all roads lead to Disney.
I don't know about you guys, but I cant wait until Thursday morning, when we are high above the clouds slowly making our way towards the palm trees with sun streaming into every window. I just love flying into Orlando. See you all soon.
I have convinced my DH to go to Disney Marketplace. Thanks Pam! Actually it did not take to much convincing. We land around 11:30 am on Friday, so after renting the car I think we will head there and then leave early to avoid rush hour and check in to the Radisson by late afternoon.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and is getting ready to :boat: . It's really getting exciting now.
alex1963 - I just looked at the kids navigators on dcltribute.com and saw that there are about 10 counselors in the 8-9 age group. Since they rotate, I think it's possible that your daughter will interact with most of them. But, you may only want to tip those that your daughter has "bonded" with. I know on our Wonder cruise, my kids really didn't get to know the counselors very well, but it might be different on the Magic where you're on the ship longer.
Rena - Can I ask what you're paying for the Avis rental? We have a rate of $37.79 plus tax and fees for a full size. That seems pretty good, so I'm wondering if it's worth calling and trying to get a better rate.
Paul & Pam - Have a great trip! Looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!!:teeth:
Hey everybody...wow I missed a lot this weekend. I was so busy trying to get everything squared away at work,school, home, etc before the cruise...but I'm all packed except carryon stuff and toiletries. I also got my hair cut...about 8 inches chopped off, it's a huge difference, but it's going to be so much fun on the cruise to have short hair. :)
I hope this week flies by, as long as I stay busy, it will....which shouldn't be too much a problem considering everything I still have to do for work and school. LOL :)
Thanks Les. Yes, I knew they moved. Just for the heck of it I called Budget to see their prices today. Almost $30 more than what I am paying now.
Spud, I am renting 1 day (17-18th) mid size, 33.11 (this price did not change) The price that changed was the return (renting and returning on the 25th) Economy size (39.92). I originally booked the subcompact (what was I thinking now that I am looking at the luggage, stroller....) and they were giving me almost $12 off ( sub-compact). It does not hurt to call. All they do is switch the price on your reservation you currently have. I also am bringing some upgrade coupons from my entertainement book for the mid-size. We also have to rent a car seat, so that tacks on an extra $8 per day.
Also, if you go to roomsavers.com, there is coupon for the Radisson. I know it is meant to be used if you don't have a reservation, but when I called the front desk, she said to bring it and she would adjust the price. I currently have a price of $89 and it will bring it to $79. Heh, that is extra money towards a sailaway drink
:teeth:
My daughter's girlfriend came by today to give her a going away gift of a princess t-shirt (to wear to the breakfast) and a minnie washcloth to take. I thought that was so sweet. They are veterans of a 3 day Disney cruise (last summer) and they are the ones who gave us the idea to go.
Hey there you fellow night owls, it's Pam. I didn't want to log Paul off cuz he'll want to check first thing in the am, and I do mean am, for new posts.
I'm almost at the point where I think I can sleep before we have to get up in 4 hours to head to the airport. Oh well, I'll catch up on sleep once I get on the ship. It must be the gentle rocking cuz everytime I've slept like a baby. And I am a problem sleeper. If you haven't experienced it, just wait. Of course there's no sleeping in on Paul's watch. He's an early riser. I endure.
It will be so great to meet all of you and your families. I know everyone is so excited and ready to have the time of their lives. All of you with kids, they are going to love it. I heard so many times how hard it was to get the kids out of the clubs. Then after a while the parents could really relax and have a great time too. Our kids were all teens when they went with us, but they have great memories. Ask me about the Teens Extreme song they made up. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. I wish all my kids were coming with us. shhhhhh, don't tell Paul I said that. He's looking forward to just the 2 of us going w/o kids.
OK I finally yawned! It's time to say so long and we'll see you on Saturday or at the MNSSH party.
Good Morning to all!
I too am looking at a cloudy morning. I have lots of little stuff to buy over the next few days. I pretty much have the clothes packed (except for DH!).
My DD( ok me too!) is getting excited, just a few more links left on her construction paper countdown..
For those of you who have cruised before, should I get traveler's checks, or should I be fine with a credit card?
DMoss3377
10-14-2003, 09:52 AM
Hi Rena: I think CC would be just fine and a little cash. We took Travelers Checks last year and had to conciously try to use them somehow, and we decided that everything on the ship can be charged to the KTTW cards and that's attached to a CC, we'd just do that with some cash for tips, etc.
Question for everyone:
Kamy and I had discussed what nights were what as far as dining goes and we had come up with (based on *****************) the following:
Sat - rotation
Sun - rotation
Mon - rotation
Tues - tropical
Wed - around the world
Thur - captains gala
Fri - best of
So I had planned to do Palo Monday night since it's our anniversary and so we wouldn't miss formal or semi-formal night, but according to the live 10/11 cruise thread, this is how it is:
Sat - rotation
Sun - rotation
Mon - Captains Gala (formal)
Tue - rotation
Wed - Tropical
Thu - semi formal
Fri - rotation
Help? :confused:
Perchinske
10-14-2003, 10:02 AM
Spud
10-14-2003, 10:10 AM
Dana - I think the rotation is different on the Western because Sunday isn't a sea day for them. So, I think Monday at Palo would be fine. But, I've never been on the 7 day, so I don't know for sure.
Rena - I second Dana's opinion that you don't need travelers checks. With the abundance of ATMs in the world now, we never get travelers checks anymore.
Dana - that dining rotation for the 10/11 through me off too. Theirs is different than ours because the Western stops at ports on different nights. According to my Passporter Book the Eastern Magic's dining rotation is:
Sat. - rotation
Sun. - The Best Of (Formal)
Mon.- Rotation
Tues. - Tropical
Wed. - Rotation
Thur. - Cap'n's Gala (Semi formal)
Fri. - Small World
But who knows if that's right.:crazy:
If some little curly towhead comes up to you and starts to bark and growl, she's mine. :D She just automatically thinks everyone knows who she's pretending to be. LOL. I'm glad that she hasn't invited anyone else (strangers included) to cruise with us, unlike yours . . . LOL. :p Your daughter is just so friendly!!!
Anyway, I'm tired. Gonna go to bed early. It'll just make tomorrow get here that much quicker . . .
:tongue:
Until tomorrow!
tchrmom - sorry to hear about your Dad
Try to have a nice relaxing cruise.
Spend some time up on deck 10 at night talking with your Dad. I remember speaking with my Dad late one night Dec 01 on top deck of NCL. Makes a good time/location for quiet reflection.
(hopefully that came out sounding ok)
Tchrmom, I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Glad we'll still be seeing you on the cruise.
Thanks everyone for the responses to the dining rotation question. I'll just stick with the one that Kamy helped me with, it didn't even dawn on me that there would be differences with the Eastern and Western rotations. duh...:crazy:
I got mani and pedi last night...felt great, but made me even more anxious for Saturday to hurry up and get here. :hyper:
The next few days are going to be agony...all that waiting...:faint: Hopefully with everything I still have to do with work and school that the time will fly by. Work today, class tonight, work tomorrow, last minute shopping tomorrow night, work Friday, pack carryons and sleep! :hyper: :hyper:
O.k., I have hemmed and hawed, I have gone back many, many pages looking for the start of the lime green shirt talk, and have to finally admit I must have missed a whole lot on this thread! Why is everyone buying green shirts?!:hyper: I can't wait till Friday night! We leave from Baltimore! My DD is off school now for this week (conferences) so her vacation has begun, while DH and myself have 2 more to go! Never having cruised, I must admit a bit nervous too. So much to do after boarding, but so worth it in the end, (I hear). Beano would be proud how this thread is keeping up! See you Sat.!
10-15-2003, 05:23 PM
Beano was kind enough to let me know that lime green is the official un-official DisBoard Cruise color. It just help to identify others that you have been counting down with, here on the DisBoard. So, with that, were you able to find a shirt ?
I will be wearing my lime green shirt, and hat !
Also, I happen to have 6 more lime green hats, if anyone would like them, we can hooh up either at the Radisson, or at the terminal. If any of you want one, let me know so i know if I should pack them. I think I have 7 left.
All I have to do now, is get through Thursday ! Everything else is done ! Funny how the time seems to creep along at half speed! Then you get onboard, and BAM ! It'll be next Saturday !
Be well all ! Reply if you want those hats !
Hi Alex,
As far as I understand, the lime green thing started a long time ago with DISers. They'd wear a ribbon or some other lime green token so that when you were in port or wherever, you could go...'psst, hey are you one of those DIS people"...LOL. I guess it's just grown into larger expression of lime green...ribbons to hats to shirts to full ensembles. LOL ::yes:: ::yes:: Oh, and we're leaving from Dulles Saturday morning...we live in Manassas. :)
I actually couldn't find anything lime that I wanted to wear, so I'm going to home depot tonight and picking up some of the lime green Mickey paint chips from the Disney paint collection, cutting them, laminating them, and using them as tags on our carryons. Figure that would do. :)
But I've been told by some very reliable sources that we won't be shunned or ostracised for not wearing lime green.
2 more days...cause this ones over as far as I'm concerned...but before I go, I have to vent a bit....so indulge me please.
The DH of the other couple coming with us, procrastinated about getting his birth certificate, which we can all agree is a very important piece of documentation to have ready prior to cruising. Well, his DW and I got tired of waiting and ordered a copy for him, it was Fed Exed, but no one was home to sign for it, so he said he would go by and pick it up. Needless to say, he waited so long to go pick it up, they returned it to sender. AARrgghhh.... So now, 3 days before we leave, we have to cross our fingers and hope it gets here by regular mail, which Vital Records sent it in after receiving the returned Fed Ex package. They said it should arrive tomorrow...I told him that if it's not here tomorrow, he'd better drive the 2 - 3 hours to Richmond, VA to pick it up personally or we'll be waving to him from the ship while he stays and camps out at the port. :mad: :headache: And my poor friend is so upset because this is suppose to be the honeymoon they didn't get when they got married 2 years ago.
So when you meet us, we may be missing one of our party. :(
Thanks for letting me vent.
Perchinske
:eek: I' m sure he will get it in time. At least for his sake I hope it comes in time, or they may not be seeing their 3rd anniversary!!!!;)
Well, could not nap because I am way too excited:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: !!!!
I hope to finish 95% of the packing tonight. Every trip we go on I am packing until at least 1-2 am in the morning. I am vowing to not let that happen. I guess we shall see!!!
What is the earliest time we are allowed to get off the boat on Sat? Not that I am looking fwd to that, just can't remember and DH asked. I remember there being an emergency phone number for the boat and I can not find it anywhere. Does anyone have that?
I could not find anything lime green, so my daughter will represent us:teeth:
Dana, having worked as a Municipal Clerk and issuing birth certificates for many years, I can understand your frustration. Some people always will wait for the last minute to get their certificates, while others will have numerous copies on hand from the time they were born. I of course am one of the latter.
But on a happier note, one more day down, and in my case two more to go, well really one and a half, because we will be leaving home at 2PM on Friday.
See you all soon, or at least all of you with proper ID.
I have never had so much fun preparing for a trip! It's a lot of fun seeing what everyone else is doing gearing up for this.
Thank you Dana and Snorgg for getting back to me on the whole t-shirt thing. In my travels through the house last night managed to find what seems to be lime green (almost anything looks lime green past midnight lately!) I can't wait to fall asleep to the rocking of the ship. My DH and I met when we were both working for Ringling Bros. Circus (he was a clown.) We traveled by train and falling asleep to that rocking, is to die for! We'll see how our DD will do, (not much sawdust in her viens yet) but just in case, we've got bonine.
I finished our packing last night with the exception of all the hanging stuff and am sitting by the door waiting to go! No, I have to teach tomorrow, off for a nail appt. w/DD and down the road to the airport. We are staying at a hotel near the airport in Orl. and shuttling back to the airport in the a.m. for the bus, if we (and this is wishful thinking) get the 1st shuttle to the port are we going to be twiddling our thumbs for a while? Or is it fun to twiddle your thumbs there?! :tongue:
I got a suggestion from a travel agent friend of mine yesterday regarding customs in St. Thomas, she suggested that we bring our marriage cert. along if we're using a birth cert. because it has my maiden name on it and it doesn't match my drivers license (a friend just got back from travelling and had a little trouble with hers. Just want to pass that along. Sorry this is so long, just a bit excited I think, Safe travelling everyone! See you the day after tomorow (God that sounds good!)
