Loretta.... that sounds great! AKL is one of the many places on my list where I'd like to stay eventually! We will be having dinner at Boma this year, but that's about the extent of our visit to AKL.

We have scheduled a dinner at AKL, breakfast at the Poly, lunch at CBR, and a day's worth of meals at Epcot! All this between 2 cruises... sounds like my souvenir from this vacation will be an additional 20 pounds. Just what I need! ;)

Gosh! Are you guys gonna do the commando thing at the parks in between cruises!?

Good thing you have the 7 day to decompress...cuz it sure won't be to diet LOL:D

Sounds like you don't need advice from the "do Atkins onboard" thread, or the "what's your favorite low-fat meal onboard" thread, although I think that one's a little tongue-in-cheek;)

I'm personally in the "have a ball and diet after vacation camp":)

I am with you, Loretta!!

"Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may diet". ;)

And yes, we are doing a semi-commando attack on WDW in between cruises. When we get off of the Wonder on thursday, we are driving to OKW to check in. Then we have lunch at CBR, dinner at Boma, and the MNSSHP at MK thursday night. Friday is Epcot, and all the wonderful food and drink it has to offer! Saturday morning, it's breakfast at Kona Cafe, then off to Port Canaveral once again, to board the Magic! At least that's the plan so far...

Did I miss anything, Kamy? :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Beano pulls another month off the calendar and... it's June!!

Just a little over 4 months now, boys and girls!!

I am even more "homesick" for the Disney experience, since my friends pulled a MEAN joke on me this Sunday!

tarzanman called me on his cell phone from the monorail in WDW, just as you could here the recorded announcement saying "Welcome to Disney's Polynesian Resort"... It sure was nice to talk to him, but man, did it make me wish I was there!

I must remember to slap him in the head for that when I see him in 3 weeks.

Hey Beano!

I think we already introduced ourselves to you....but in case we didn't......DH, DS (11) and DD (8) and myself are with you. We also talked our next door neighbors into going with us this cruise. They have a DD (2). This will be their fisrt Disney cruise! They had a VERY bad experience last month on NCL, (not very child friendly) so we're hopeng they enjoy this cruise a little more!

We will be in room 2101. They are in room 2100.

Pray that the time flies by!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

06-06-2003, 02:35 PM
Hi, tchrmom!

Yes, you've introduced yourself before, but it's nice to hear from you again. The time is drawing ever nearer!!

My DD is 11, DS 13, so maybe we can get the kids together. It sure made a difference last year when our kids had others to run around with!

I have been on NCL several times and I can certainly see how it could be called "not very child friendly". Your friends are in for a wonderful surprise with Disney, as compared to NCL!

I agree.........meeting friends DOES make the difference! My children met a friend the first day, and it made for a great "adult" vacation!

I didn't get a notification on my e-mail that someone had replied to a thread that I posted on. Did the DIS boards stop that without me realizing it?

Ahhh, our group is growing ever larger!! (Sort of like my waistline)

Let's hope something comes through on the stateroom waiting list, or we won't have room for everyone at our DIS gathering!
It's ok though - I just won't invite Tim and Kamy or Paul and Pam.

Just kidding! Cruising on the Magic wouldn't be the same without them!!!! It would be more sane, and who wants that?? Not me, man!

All you nice folks will have a chance to 'chat' peacefully here on this thread soon, as both Kamgen and I, as well as our respective spouses, will be away for over a week, beginning next Thursday. DON'T let me come home to find this thread on page 10!! Keep it alive! :)

DH and I will be heading out Saturday morning ourselves.
Going to spend the 4th on the bee-u-ti-ful Jersey shore with fam and friends:D !

Maybe a quick side trip into NYC, but we're thinking of heading down to the boardwalk (the real thing:) ) to take a walk down memory lane, re-live the days of our courtship, y'know, all that stuff like that there! LOL!

Have a good trip!

OK........now that I'm home for the summer, I want my summer vacation to D-R-A-G by. However..........I want to hurry up and get on with this cruise!!!!!!!! It has been a year now since our last cruise, and we all need a little "Magic". We are taking a "disney charge-up" this weekend, and going to Animal Kingdom lodge and the water parks. We need a shot of disney to keep us going. We've never stayed at AKL.....I hope we like it as much as the Wilderness lodge. Any thoughts on the 2 lodges?

Hope this bumps this thread up!

I just got the chance to catch up on this thread...I know, I know...what could be more important. :)

Just wanted to say hi to everyone.

And..Kamy....Awesome job, I'm on the Lean for Life program myself, started in March...and hope to be down quite a bit of weight by the cruise. I wouldn't have said you needed to lose anything from your start date picture, but you look great!

Hope everyone gets a little sun this summer...I've just decided to become a duck until the cruise...maybe then I could handle all this rain better. LOL :)

Well...I'm off to a scrapbook convention...at least I have that to keep my spirits up till the cruise. I actually just completed my scrapbook album of last years cruise. If I ever get the time, I'll scan it in and share it. :)

Welcome back, Dana!

As this cruise draws nearer, you'll have to check up everyday to stay current on this thread! :)

Heck, just Kamy and I will keep yacking here enough to keep this on page one all the time! (Except from June 27th - July 6th, when we'll be gone!!)

Please, DO check in frequently during the last month or so before the cruise, as that is when we will finalize all the details of various DIS meets, etc. Can't forget the champagne and cake party at Beano's on Thursday! :bounce:

I will want all the birthday's, anniv's., etc. taking place just before, during or just after the cruise. Then we'll have cake and champagne and/or punch at my place on Thursday. Details to follow!!!

I just read your post Beano and was wondering how the people on this thread meet on the boat after conversing all this time!

My two year old keeps asking me everyday, "When are we going on the Disney Boat? Please, Mommy.... can't we go now?" She then rattles off all the characters she can think of that she may possibly see on the boat! She looks at the AAA book of the cruise and the Disney Store catalog almost everyday! I hope time starts flying until Oct. 18th! I am thinking about making a chain link countdown (like you do for Christmas), so she can start to comprehend how far away the cruise is!

We'll join you all on 10/18. Our first cruise ever. With 2 toddlers, runningt around and picking up after them is usually the extend of our exercise program at home. However, we have every good intention to exercise while on board. Any suggestions? Are the aerobic classes any good, what about "walking" program? Thank you.

nicurnc
06-20-2003, 09:36 AM
Perchinske-
A DIS "meet" is exactly what Beano means! LOL!
A time and place will be posted on this thread for any interested folks to go to, and then meet the people they've been chatting with all these months before the cruise:D

The famous lime green ribbons worn by DISers are the I.D.:)

Beano is the host with the most... he is having a get-to-gether in his cabin to celebrate b'days and anniversaries:Pinkbounc

Meets are great! You can go, and then you almost be assured of seeing afriendly face or two onboard or on excursions. Just adds another fun aspect to your cruise!

As for exercise 4b-
the deck has a track you can do laps on, and we take the stairs every where. But somehow, when we're on vacation our resolve slips away a little each day:)
But it's a good resolution to make...helps with the constant barrage of delicious calories! LOL! I mean, on a cruise there is just so much temptation:eek:

You start out thinking you WILL exhibit some self-control and after a day or two you find yourself wandering around deciding where you should grab a quick bite because it might be another two or three hours before they actually feed you again:D

But, that's what WW and points are for once I'm home;)

Loretta

kamgen
06-20-2003, 09:44 AM
Loretta- I plan to leave my WW points for home....and eat and drink what I want on the cruise! I probably will get full much easier though! :)

Beano is the host with the most! He is the best host and throws great parties in his suite and the sailaway is a great time to get to know each other!

I can't wait to meet everyone!!!!!

nicurnc
06-20-2003, 09:50 AM
LOL! Kamy, I hear ya, girl! Points will be but a distant memory by the time we get on that boat!!

I'm real excited about meeting everyone, too!

Loretta

BeanoC
06-20-2003, 11:57 AM
It's really nice to see this group 'taking shape'... :)

Let me give you a basic outline of how we usually go about having DIS meets, and recognizing everyone:

First of all, our luggage and carry-ons are adorned with flowing lime green ribbons (this also makes it easier to identify your bags at baggage claim at the airport!). We also usually wear lime green
t-shirts, and sometimes nametags.

Our first unofficial DIS meet is at the port, where we can chat while we wait in line to board, which sometimes means 2 or 3 hours!

Next, after the lifeboat drill, we head for deck 10 above the goofy pool for the sailaway celebration, and usually form a group near one of the towel receptacles (where we can set our drinks!!) Then we have bubbles or 'poppers' to help us say goodbye to Florida, as we watch it fade into the background!!

Last year we had a group brunch at Palo on Monday, with 16 in attendance. We'll see how this group feels about that over the next couple of months, and maybe do it again.

My wife and I enjoy hosting a DIS party in our stateroom on Thursday afternoon. Last year it was wine, and cheese and crackers, sandwiches, etc. This year, we plan on cake and champagne! Lots of birthdays and anniversaries surrounding our cruise... We had 18 for last year's gathering. Let's see if we can beat that this year! :)

Other than that, we always have a few impromptu meetings during the week, such as at trivia games, karaoke, bingo, etc. It really does add alot to the cruise when you know other people participating with you in those things!

One final word of waring, then I shall stop rambling...

That guy "Beano"?? He always has a camera running! So be careful, cuz you're gonna get filmed for the annual DCL DVD!!

Kamy and Paul can tell you more about that... I have talked enough!!

'Beano'

kamgen
06-23-2003, 11:10 AM
Beano and his crazy camera!!! LOL!! Actually, it is great! :)
(But I am sure Paul will agree with me that we are glad he didn't bring it to Cozumel with us! LOL!!!!)

The sailaway is great and a good time to grab a drink and toast to new friends and one heck of a week! :)

And Beano hosts great parties......we are invited aren't we beano??? :)

BeanoC
06-23-2003, 12:10 PM
Sure you're invited, Kamy! In fact, Tim and I may do a comedy skit together after a couple glasses of champagne!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go make a ressie for the 10-day Christmas cruise for 2004. Who's with me?

Back from AKL...they did give us a free upgrade for the savan. view. WOW!

Is everyone on this thread staying at the Raddison the night before?

I have a "hold" on the 12/18/04 cruise, but I think it might be a bit too rich for our blood. But, FL does have a lottery, and there is always that small chance!

paulcrsb
06-23-2003, 08:58 PM
Kamy- Did you forget? I had the camera in Cozumel. At one point (when I went to the little boys room) Beano took over the camera duties. There is some very interesting video there.

Beano- I put in a rate request for the Christmas cruise (if it's not sold out already). Anyway judging from some of the quotes that I've read on the boards it might be a hard sell to get Pam to agree on it. I've got plenty of time to convince her that it's the right thing to do.

Paul

Paul- I remember...I think! LOL!!! AHHHH....burn that video! LOL!!!

BeanoC
06-24-2003, 11:56 AM
Well guys, I got my quote for that Christmas cruise, but category 3 and above are sold out. :(

I was able to get a cat. 4 for a mere $12,000.00, but I ain't going unless you losers go too! I wouldn't even know HOW to cruise without the Crosbys and Gennaros!

I still have my ressie for the Oct. Western cruise too, so we'll do one or the other. I am a bit hesitant to leave my crew here over christmas, so we'll see!!

tchrmom - We are staying at the Radisson for 2 nights before our first cruise, but not before the Magic cruise. We'll be at OKW with kamgen and tarzanman!! We do enjoy the Radisson though. I am already looking forward to pizza at Kelseys!!

We also have several issues to resolve regarding the christmas cruise, so it remains to be seen. Me leaving work over the holidays, whether to cancel our Oct. '04 cruise, etc. Time will tell!

Right now, we have another vacation to concentrate on, and in 24 hours, we'll be on a plane to Detroit, so I'll see y'all in about 10 days! (Except you, Kamy. I'll see you tomorrow ;) )

Hi Doberman-

Glad to see you found us. It's nice to see that our group is growing. My kids are between your son and nephew, but it seems like there might be others that have kids closer to your son's age.
I'm really looking forward to the cruise, but trying not to wish summer away, now that it's finallly here.

doberman2002
06-27-2003, 10:56 PM
Spud-

I know exactly what you mean about not wishing the summer away. Being from the great Northeast we have just experienced one of the longest, coldest winters I can remember, and we really didn't get much of a spring. We finally hit the 90's this week. So, I for one would like to experience a long and very hot summer. Then once the child returns to school my Disney dreams will go full speed ahead. It's nice to see that so many of you are very experienced Disney People. I've been to Disney 6 times, and been to every park in Florida at least once. I'm hoping that we might be able to squeeze Mickey's not so Scary Halloween Party in this year, it depends on what time our flight gets in. It's just not the same if you don't make in to the MK.

Paul,

Thanks for the keeping the post on the first couple of pages. This Northern Michigan escape is fun so far. We are all getting along well, but we have a few days to go. We will see if Beano and I are still alive tommorow after we kick the keg that we got. It is almost gone after 2 days! Tommorow, we are off to Mackinac Island!!! It should be a great day! All we seem to talk about is the cruises that we have coming up. Right now we are discussing our attire for the week and packing strategies. This should be an interesting summer of posts between Kamgen and Beano. Fasten your seatbelts. Kamy and Beano will be home in a week.

Hey ! We made it home! ;)

We have just returned from a wonderful vacation with Tim and Kamy... I never thought I would see SO much of the state of Michigan! What a great time.

I have also rarely, if ever, laughed and joked so much in my life. Wonderful places, wonderful friends... Thanks, dudes!!

And as Kamy said, don't worry about being nosey, because we all are! How do you think we got to be friends before we ever even met?? LOL

We met (physically!) at the DCL port less than 9 months ago, and have shared 3 wonderful vacations together since.

We will now slowly switch into 'cruise mode' now that our Mackinaw vacation is over, and the cruises are a mere 3 months away. 94 days actually, but who's counting?

Now Bubba, all that joking and voice-acting was within the privacy of our own group, for our enjoyment. Do you really think it's appropriate for such behavior to take place on board a Disney ship, in the presence of other DIS folks??

So do I !!!!!!!!!

Tim and I (and our spouses!) have goals for these cruises. We weren't known by everyone on board last year until the third or fourth day. Anyone can play this game. As long as you play it my way. Thank you.

Sorry about that Spud. My bad.

As far as the spa goes, get a Surial bath with your favorite significant other and play in the mud. For a two person treatment, it is by far the best deal. I would recommend a massage for any guy that likes to have a nice young lady rub you down. I thouroughly enjoy it myself. Ask my wife. I got one last year and I am still talking about it. It was good. My wife loves the spa taster as well. I had a facial last time too. That was great. I never thought that it was for men but it sure as heck is and it is another opportunity for another nice young lady to rub you down again. Thanks Kamgen for letting me keep going.

I was really excited about getting a treatment or two in the spa until I read several posts about the therapists doing a "hard sell" of spa products after the treatment. Has anyone had any experience with that?

And tarzanman, no problem!!:p But play the game your way, I will.

BeanoC
07-16-2003, 03:19 PM
We were definitely subjected to the 'hard sell' tactics after our spa treatments 2 years ago. It was a real killjoy after such a relaxing experience, but you know what? "Just say no"!
We politely said no thanks, and went on our way. So if you're going to have spa treatments, I would say just expect to get that sales pitch afterwards, and be prepared to say no and move on!
(Unless of course you actually want some of the stuff they're selling).

One suggestion for the suriel bath...... take a water-proof watch. You MAY loose track of time, if you are doing it right. If you are in the steam section, you may not hear the 15 minute "warning" knock. DH and I decided last year that the next time, we'd bring one in with us........just in case;)

Another thought on the suriel bath...............
In the spa info that they give you when you are deciding what to do, the suriel bath states that it is for 2 or 3! Anyone besides me think this is funny, coming from a Disney Cruise?;) :D ;) :D

BeanoC

Well I hope I can resist the pressure after being totally relaxed in the spa!

I've got another question for you experienced cruisers. With the big dress code debate, I thought I 'd ask for your opinion on dinner attire. How dressy do you get for formal and semi-formal nights. Do you wear guys tuxes and ladies wear gowns or are you a little more laid back??

kamgen
07-17-2003, 10:24 AM
Spud,
Last year dh wore a black suit and I wore a formal (strapless/floor length dress). I did not see many men in tuxes at all, but many women were dressed in gowns. I love getting all dressed up! :)

We usually adhere to the dress code...and it bothers us when people (and they DO) show up to dinner in shorts, tank tops, swimsuits with coverups, etc.... but oh well....

Speaking of formal night...I need a new dress! :)

BeanoC
07-17-2003, 11:16 AM
We adhere to the dress code too, but to as little extent as possible for me! I have to wear a suit every single day; one of the things I love about vacation is being able to relax in comfortable clothes. So, no tux for this dude... I'll wear a suit on formal nights, and get out of that sucker as soon as possible!

And Kamy is right, many people ignore it altogether. The next guy I see in Palo wearing shorts is getting tossed overboard!

'Beano'

kamgen
07-17-2003, 01:25 PM
I second that Beano...I personally think that if you disregard the dress code that severly, you are disrespecting the other passengers. I mean, DCL offers dining options if you don't want to get dressed nice for dinner...so they have a choice there.....
JMHO!

nicurnc
07-17-2003, 02:33 PM
Ah, the age old dress code debate;)

Spud, I hafta agree with kamy and beano-

We enjoy being able to dress up for the formal nights. It's fun and makes it seem like an occasion. I agree with the whole "it's my vacation" theory, but there are plenty of options for those who don't want to be bothered with formality:) I think that's always the picture I had in my head about cruising, that it combined alot of fun stuff with the chance to put on the Ritz a few times.

Our last cruise we saw about half of the men in suits or sport coats on formal nights. The other half was split between tuxes and the theme park casual (ahem!) look. Most of the ladies were dressed up, not always formals, but very dressy pants outfits or cocktail dresses.

My husband will go for a suit on those nights. I will probably have one floor length and one short dress.

I even think guys could were a shirt and tie, maybe a vest , on those nights and not feel out of place. Just leave your bathing suit, jeans, flip flops and wife beaters in the closet those nights;)

Bottom line, I think attitude is everything. You're on vacation. If dressing up sounds like another fun aspect of it, go for it...it's your night to shine and where else can you get your pix with an equally spiffed up Mr. & Mrs. Mouse;) ?!

Remember there are other themed nights as well, and you don't have to participate in that , either. Although most folks don't balk and putting on something tropical...kinda like going to a Jimmy Buffet concert
:D

October is a great time to go on a cruise! You can hit all the end-of-summer sales and get some great bargains:)

Loretta

P.S. Kamy, isn't that Orlando a yummy little thing! LOL! DD also thought Johnny Depp was too sexy!! Well in a dirty , rotten scoundrel kind of way! LOL! That shot of him in the trailer...

I'm looking forward to dressing up on formal night, I just wanted to know how formal people get. My husband will wear suit (there's no way I'd get him in a tux) but I'm hoping to wear a floor length dress. Now I just have to find time to go shopping.

kamgen

Hi Everyone! Even though I have not posted in awhile, I still keep up reading this thread. I enjoy meeting all of you.....

I was wondering if anyone could suggest excursions for my DH and DD (2) in St. Maarten, St. Thomas? I have been reading the other threads, but would like your opinions. I was thinking of shopping and maybe relaxing at the beach. Where is the best place to shop? Is it worth it to go to Trunk Bay? What is the easiest way to get there? Should we go by taxi at some of the ports to get to our destination, or rental car. Any help would be appreciated.

Rena

BeanoC
07-20-2003, 01:22 PM
Hi Rena, 'welcome back'...

Trunk Bay is gorgeous; we went there 2 years ago. I'm not sure how much fun it would be for a 2 year old though... but if you decide to go there, here's how to do it:

When you get off the ship in St. Thomas, there will be countless taxi's lined up right near the pier. You need to take one to Red Hook, which is where you get on the ferry. Take a ferry from Red Hook to St. John, and once there, take another taxi to Trunk Bay. Most of the taxis on St. Thomas work with someone on St. John, so you can usually get a 'package price'; just make sure you look for that specific taxi service once on St. John. Don't worry, it's a lot easier than it sounds! As I said, Trunk Bay is a beautiful place, and if it's snorkeling you want, that's the place to go. it will cost about $25 per person total, for all taxis/ferries and park entrance. (Trunk Bay is inside a state park, so they charge around $3 per person entrance fee). It would cost you twice that to do a Disney excursion!

I hope this helps ya! :)

Hi Rena!

I won't be much help. We have always travelled with teenagers. We are not as adventurous as Beano and have always done the Disney excursions. Trunk Bay was beautiful and we enjoyed the snorkling there.

In St. Maarten we did the Disney trip to Orient Bay. It's a nice beach but beware there are a lot of naked people strolling up and down the beach. I enjoyed my time there but if your into saving money you can probably do this trip on your own also.
We've also done the Golden Eagle Catamaran trip which I wouldn't recommend if you have younger children. We had a blast but it was really a booze cruise and snorkel trip.

We haven't decided what we are doing this time for excursions but we will probably do something different.

Good Luck!

Paul

If I can be serious for a moment...

(Those of you who know me can stop snickering now - I AM serious every now and then. I usually allocate 10-12 minutes every month for it).

I would like to remind everyone that my DW and I will be hosting a small party in our stateroom, and I would like to start putting the details together.

First of all, I would like your feedback as to the best day for it - we were thinking either Sunday or Monday (sea days), around 1:00 P.M. Also, please remind me of any birthdays/anniversaries or other special occasions that are occuring on or around our cruise. For example, Kamy has a b-day in late September, my DW in early September, so both of their b-days are part of the 'celebration'...

It'll be an informal cake-and-champagne party, and if you have an occasion to celebrate, your name needs to be on the cake! Let me know.

I'd like to get a head-count for this, as well as names and stateroom numbers for those planning to attend. Everyone is welcome! If you don't care to post your stateroom numbers here, please email them to me, or simply look me up at the port before we board - I'll be the obnoxious idiot with 4 or 5 cameras, loud clothing, and an embarrassed wife.

We look forward to having everyone get together, and since Kamy has offered to co-host, so you know it'll be a heck of a time!!

OK..we're new to your group, but we'd really like to meet the faces behind all the "banter". hahahahaha Are we invited too?

We are in room 2101. Our anniversary (16years!) is August 1st. Is that too far out to celebrate?

I booked Radisson today online. Got $85.00. Does anyone think/know if I can do better?

89 days to go! I can't wait! Already started my "Things to pack " list.

Yes, tchrmom, you're invited... remind me of your first names if you would...

Ok, so Kamy's bday, my wife's bday, my bday, and a 16yr. anniv.

Who else? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I am not going on this cruise but I am going on the Wonder cruise with Beano and Kamy. However, there is not party on that cruise (because Beano does not think us worthy) and I just hate to miss a party!

So, please add my name to the cake (my birthday is mid September) and light a candle in my name. (crying uncontrollably now). Why, oh why couldn't we have booked the 7 night cruise? (getting really dramatic now). Why do I always miss all the fun?
Why? Why?

(please do not take anything I take seriously unless I ask for money!)

Count us in too. We are fine with either day.....Is there anything you would like us to bring?

My husband Ted's Birthday is Sept. 4th. Our 6th anniversary is Aug. 30th. If you are running out of room on the cake, leave off the anniversary!

We do not have any room number as of yet. We are GTY a Cat. 11, so I kind of compare us to the poor people on the Titanic. Oh, well, they seemed to throw good parties and have fun in the movie!!

Thanks for letting us join Beano!

We're Dave and Fran, and if you run out of room, you can skip our anniv. since it is so far away from the cruise.

What can we bring?????

BeanoC
07-21-2003, 04:01 PM
Well Rose, (takemeaway), the reason we aren't having a party in my stateroom on that cruise is cuz I went and got cheap and downgraded the room! :( I wouldn't have room for everyone.

But that doesn't mean we can't have a heck of a good sailaway party! I kinda wish I hadn't downgraded, but the savings were too good to pass up, and Kamy has convinced me that she won't let me spend any time in my room anyway!

Wow, it looks like we're celebrating all kinds of things! Maybe I should just get a cake that says "Happy Everything"... ok maybe not. I'll do my best! I hope DCL can help me with the cake, then DW will decorate it. You guys don't need to bring anything but yourselves and a fun attitude!! We are leaning towards Sunday for this gathering, around 1:00 PM. That's our first sea day, and a good opportunity to get to know everyone early on - that way you'll know who to avoid for the remainder of the week. ;)

Ok, who else??

DCL books GTY rooms when there are very few or no rooms left in a specific category. They make the assumption that some guests will cancel and they'll be able to reassign those rooms. If not they will book the guest in a better category.

Wipes the tears from her eyes.

Beano, I hope I didn't make you feel guilty. Although it is my responsibilty to annoy as many people as possible in my lifetime. I just wanted to make sure you weren't having a party and you told everyone not to tell Rose. You wouldn't believe how often that happens to me. Or people say, "Come to my party",
and then they never give me directions to their home. I am sure they just forget over and over and over again.

We will be there for the sailaway party, tropical drinks in hand.

Okay, I probably should go back to my own thread now. I really don't belong on this thread but does that stop me.......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Hi guys,
I'm feeling a little bummed.

DD(24) & DS(21) both going through some tough personal times right now. Short of it...neither are feeling as up for this cruise as my DH and I are.

DD's place of work (she's a cosmetologist) Has undergone a shake up that found her good friend and mentor out of a job. As a result, her self-esteem is in the toilet. We went shopping today for some cruise wearand it was pretty dismal. She is back on a "I'm too fat" kick (she has lost 90+ lbs. on WW). "I'm not wearing shorts or a bathing suit, nor do I want to be on any excursion that requires me to wear that":(

Great!! We're on a freakin' Caribbean cruise and she wants to be Goth martyr:confused:

My son had a fight with his girlfriend. He said don't worry about me, I'll just bring my video games and play them in the cabin:confused:

Ditto the above remark:(

Sorry for venting. I'm just worried about everyone having a good time. I guess I'm also thinking, Gee! My parents sure never took ME on a cruise!LOL! And of course, then I cringe and think, Boy you sound like your Mom!LOL!

Hoping the attitudes change with the lattitude!:)

nicurnc - Right before the cruise last year I saw about 15 people that I had worked with for 20 years lose their jobs because of a company buy out. Heck, I didn't even know if I would have a job when I got back from the cruise. The cruise was a great distraction from all the bad things that were going on. BeanoC

Loretta, we have always gone out on our own, rather than on the Disney excursions, because it is so much cheaper. However, this year we are going to do a Disney one, since it's on Castaway Cay. But if you're just thinking about going to a beach on St. Maarten or St. Thomas/St. John, it's pretty easy to just do-it-yourself!

We aren't doing too many organized excursions this year. Just shopping 'n stuff on St. Maarten, probably the same thing for St. Thomas, then the snorkeling excursion on CC. We went over to St. John 2 years ago and had a great time at Trunk Bay, but it's an all-day thing so we aren't doing it again this year. Maybe take advantage of the uncrowded ship more this year during ports of call!

That sounds good Beano-

My daughter says that is what she would like to do, explore the islands and see how other folks live, maybe shop & haggle a bit.

My husband and son both scuba, but they have both said they wouldn't be too dissapointed if they don't get any dives in this trip. It is a hassle to bring all that gear for just a day or two of diving. We'll see. There just seemed to be so much to choose from on the Western! Perfectly honest, some island time sounds pretty good, too:)

Sounds great, Denine. We'll work something out!

And in case you and Kamy are looking for the weight you've lost... I found it.:(

Wow, what a group we have formed, huh? :)

We have cruised with you and Jerry twice, and this year will make 2 cruises with Frank and Maureen and the kids, 3 cruises with Tim and Kamy, and also 3 with Paul and Pam!

Not to mention 2 with Doug and Christy. Good stuff!!

:) :) :)

Ok, and now for those of you actually GOING on this cruise... ;)

We have decided to host the DIS gathering on Sunday, at 2:00 PM. I am hoping that nobody has a major conflict with that. And, that by telling you this far in advance, those of you that care to come can plan around it!

We have early dinner seating, therefore we will need to get ready around 5-ish, so that gives us all 3 hours together to 'break the ice'.

So, any objections, voice 'em now, otherwise, be there at 2:00 PM on Sunday for cake, champagne and laughs. (Tim will be there, so trust me... You'll laugh. He's weird).

You in or out? ;)

Well we're offical, we paid off our cruise today. Boy did that hurt. But with the pain, came the news that our cat 11 gty got upgraded to a cat 9 we will be in cabin 2512, that put the smile right back on my face.

Beano-your party plans sound great.

Like everyone else, I cant wait to book the excursions. Has anyone tried the Kayaking excursion on Castaway Cay, I dont remember it being offered last year. If you did, what did you think?

Paying off the cruise might be a good idea, yes. I should do that myself!

I suppose it would make it easier to have the party if we were actually on board!

I'll e-mail Maureen and try to get her to come too.

Jerry is done with jury duty! Yeah!!!!!!

And to all that have not cruise with Beano and Tim.....have fun and good luck!!!!!!! ;)

Great Denine! I think we should all plan to meet sometime in the middle, that way if anyone is early, late, etc...it wouldn't matter. :)

We will figure out details! :) Maybe say 9pm by the Liberty Bell! :)

What do you guys think????

Hi guys!
We 're thinking about MNSSHP, too!
We have never been, is it lots of un? Do you need to be in costume?

Have any of you used any of the town car services before? How do you usually handle transportation to and from the parks, airport and port?
We are flying in the week before the cruise, the kids are joining us the day before the cruise, then we all need to get to the boat then back to the airport.
We have driven to WDW nad rented a car at MCO, and found that once on property we park the car and never get in it until its time to leave. So I'm not sure I want to bothered with renting.

Any ideas?

Loretta,

We like when we drive because we always drive everywhere around WDW property. The buses take way too long. I feel like I get more of my vacation when I don't have to wait for the buses. I would vote for renting a car.

If you are going to be down there the week prior, why don't you go on teh 10/12 Wonder cruise?

Loretta,

We have used Tiffany Towncar and Cartier Limo Service. Both were prompt and efficient. Of course, we liked the limo better than the towncar! But if you want an affordable, comfy way to get from the airport to the ship and back, Tiffany Towncar is a good way to go. The cost is comparable to a taxi, and less than the DCL busses! Check it out...

Sounds like we're gonna have quite a group at MNSSHP.
So far I count TEN people from last year's cruise!
I like your idea, Kamy. Around 9-ish somewhere inside MK.
And no, Loretta, we won't be in costume, but with Tim and I, it's kind of hard to tell.

Thanks for the tips guys!

Tim- we aren't doing the 10/12 cruise cuz this was DH's idea to do a week at WDW, followed by the Magic. Remember this is our 30th anniversary...this is as close as he's come to planning any kind of vacation. Usually he justs nods in agreement and says "Make it so" (Jean-Luc voice)
His original idea was for the GF...I had heard too many good things about AKL...so I made THAT so.
Plus the busses and waiting for them really don't bother us. Last time we were there I think we used the car for one trip, and that was back to the airport!

Meeting around 9PM at MNSSHP sounds good to me as long as it doesn't cut down on my trick or treating haul!

I agree, Paul. Now if I can only get my hands on an advance list of where to trick-or-treat for beer.

Hey guys! I was thinking we could meet around 9pm at the Haunted Mansion (seems appropriate!)!!! We could then go on the ride together (if everyone wants!) :)

Don't worry Paul.....there will be much trick or treating to do! :) From what I understand, the crowds start to clear out around 10pm......so we should be good to go until closing! :)

Don't forget the Headless Horseman starts the parade at 10:30....should be awesome! :) (yes, I am a kid.......)

9 PM at the Haunted Mansion sounds great!

I contacted Maureen. She is going to look into it.

Paul: I was excited to find out the adults can go trick-or-treating too. I wonder what goodies you get?

Beano: Jerry said you should dress as an undertaker. ;)

This is gonna be fun! I can't wait to see you all again.

How can I help but dress like an undertaker, Denine? :)

Ok, I gotta go home and pack. Are we there yet???

Loretta- LOL!!!! hey, I am still trying to get some clothes that fit...not that I am complaining...but since I lost 35lbs, with 10 more to go, none of my dresses or stuff fit! So I am trying to get things altered, etc in time!! Then I will be more than happy to start packing! :)

Can't wait to meet you!

Kamy!
That is so awesome! I just noticed that in your signature! I would be happily out spending big bucks if I had lost 35 lbs!LOL!

Trying to stay on point... this was a bad week, I felt like snacking all the time:)

Can't wait to meet you, as well....just over two months now! I can feel a sailaway drink in my hand already:D

Ahhh...sailaway drinks.....I can almost taste one now.....or two...or three...or.... :)

Kamy - This will be the third year that Pam and I have done the MNSSHP. We've had a great time the previous 2 years and expect to have just as much fun this year. The best part is when we go back to the hotel room and check out the goodies that youv'e gotten. We normally will trade candy then eat it all!

We are never going to grow up!

Counting down the days 'til the cruise!

Okay folks, I'm starting to worry that the Magic may be completely out of beer for the Oct. 11th western cruise!!! There is now way they will be able to replenish the beer supply after you guys finish cruising.

Here's an idea.......as you all disembark on the 11th, remember to stash away a couple of cold ones under a table on deck 10 for me......just in case I get stuck on a dry boat.

The countdown is on!!!

Doug

Doug - We are not going until the 18th.....so you better save some beer for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!! :)

Wish you and Christy were cruising with us.....well, maybe next year..... :)

Nice to hear from you, Doug! :)

Don't drink all my beer, dang it! We'll miss seeing you this year.
Paul and Pam, Tim and Kamy, Beano et al... but no Doug and Christy! Like Kamy said, hopefully next year! And it's YOU who needs to hide some beer for us! If I give you my stateroom number, maybe you can sneak in there while they are cleaning it, and hide some beer under the bed! LOL
